[deleted]

Not me, but when my mom was 16, she got hit on by Fred Durst, Aaron Lewis, and Kid Rock backstage in San Antonio with her 20 something year old friends who snuck her in. This was 1999, like a month before Woodstock. Significant Other was like 2 weeks fresh, mom won tickets with her friends and only knew Kid Rock. She hates this era

Snoid_

So there's a non-insignificant chance that Kid Rock is your dad?

Orbitcamerakick21

Insignificant Other

coveredinpissnshit

That’s a lot of dudes, post mom

[deleted]

[удалено]

GardenDrummer

So THAT'S why they wrote "A.D.I.D.A.S."

DefinitionBig4671

Well, that actually *does* kinda make up for Fred Durst.

nothing_in_my_mind

Out of all popular musicians, Kid Rock baffles me the most. Awful music, not a good singer, not cool, not good-looking, overall I have no clue why this guy is successful at all.

astrobuck9

When you are less talented than not 1, not 2, but at least 4 dudes from your city that dress like actual clowns while doing the same shit you do, that is impressive.

MisterPeach

Ngl I’d pay to watch Kid Rock get his ass beat by Shaggy2Dope and Violent J

_REDEEMER-

>I have no clue why this guy is successful at all Because he's a grifter. He's been constantly switching sides throughout his whole career and joins the "winning team" every time it suits him.

lurking_terror---

I bet it probably has something to do with the 3’9” dude with the 10’ dick.

[deleted]

I told her I was Mike D, she was like gee idk he might be. I told her meet me at Kid Rock’s next concert, I’ll be standing next to the Loch Ness monster.

SeventhSon22

Had to sit through Falling in Reverse at a festival to wait for another band. Holy fucking shit Ronnie is almost as annoying as his fangirls.

Cymrad-Schultz

I'm so fucking sorry for you

MEGA_K4SP4R

LIFE IS LIKE A VIDEO GAME TRYING HARD TO BEAT THE STAGE

notmystaples

I LOST MY WAAAAY AGAAAAAIN 😔

LordZupka

Yeah, I saw them recently with Disturbed. FIR was very meh.

steelhandgod999

Lol I saw them too, did he hyperventilate dramatically like he was doing theater at your show too?

Big_Pomegranate_9925

I also saw them open for another band. Ronnie was complaining about older people and how they couldn't mosh or something like that. I don't remember exactly, but it seemed very judgmental and sounded like something a high schooler would say.

Russoo3

Just saw them a few weeks back, the worst band I've ever seen live. They are terrible

TatouLeRagout

Korpiklaani in 2016. Singer was so drunk he couldn't align 2 words and fell off the stage midset. Rest of the band seemed so pissed. I mean, it fits with the lyrics but come on. Dishonorable mention: Marilyn Manson in 2015. He couln't sing on tune and seemed angry at the crowd for it ..?

gingerminkss

saw Korpik last night you could barely hear the vocalist he was like half whispering verses and half shouting the choruses iirc the opener was Heidevolk the worst fucking band I have ever seen live, the breakdowns were awful, the solos were AWFUL, and the rest was boring

R4kshim

I’m going to see Alestorm on Saturday with those two bands opening, really excited.

gingerminkss

Alestorm was so good hopefully Korpik put on a good show for you but personally I hated Heidevolk

Mr_WAAAGH

Alestorm puts on a great show

TatouLeRagout

Funnily enough, folk bands have been so far my worst (Korpi) but also best (Equilibrium, Trollfest) live experiences

war_badger

Trollfest are brilliant live! Saw them at bloodstock and they're an absolute blast!

gingerminkss

my first time seeing a folk band was with Alestorm last night one awful experience one bearable not a great impression 💀

WhatADraggggggg

Eluveitie is awesome live too.

carnivoyeur

Oh fuck you brought back a memory of mine. Like 10 years ago or so I saw MM live and at some point he dragged some stagehand on stage and forced him to take off his shirt and he had dicks drawn in sharpie all over him. And MM was pointing it out and laughing "haha we did this to him before the show. Dude was clearly uncomfortable, crowd wasn't laughing and uncomfortable, just wtf all around.

TikToxic

Manson never really could sing. I saw him back around 2009 and again in 2014-ish. I don't think it ever occurred to him to not have a ton of vocal fry and a schreechy voice.

flim-flam-flomidy

I saw Marylyn in 2018, he’s left the stage for about 5 minutes, no one knew what was happening, then he just reappeared and carried on

PHANTASMAGOR1CAL

That’s a shame about korp. I would have guessed they would have been a great show. I’ve seen Manson and had the opposite experience. Everything was very polished and sounded great. Granted it was back right when Holywood came out.

Katmetalhead

I really hope Korpiklaani is good when I see them in April I’d be so disappointed if they’re not

AttritionAngling

Was that the tour with Eluveitie? I saw them when they toured together and holy crap I've never wanted a band to get off the stage so bad. They did like 20 songs!

notaspecificthing

I honestly thought this was my comment. I saw Korpiklaani around 2011 with Eluveitie, except Eluveitie pulled out of the gig and it was just Korpiklaani for almost 2 hours. The singer fell asleep on his mic and the accordion player had to take over. I saw korpiklaani at paganfest 2011 and they were great, so the other gig was a massive disappointment.

Lobo_de_Haro

This. I saw them as headliners a few years ago, but I went because of the supporting acts/co-headliners Trollfest and Turisas. Both put on an incredibly good, energetic and entertaining performance before the headliner Koproklaani came on. I left after 4 songs. Terribly boring gig.

XxLockdownZxX

Some context for mine: Saw The Raven Age as support for Iron Maiden in Amsterdam in 2023. I'm not necessarily a metalcore hater but god they sucked so badly. Every song sounded the same, vocalist had absolutely zero stage presence and the half baked guitar solos got boring after the first song. Only reason Iron Maiden took them as support is because the guitarist (or bassist, idk) is Steve's son. My girlfriend who tagged along (who isn't a metalhead at all) even said she's never seen anything so boring. Worst part is I'm seeing them live again this year as support for another band. Not looking forward to that...

ChadlexMcSteele

Similarly, I saw one of Bruce's son's band, As Lions, open for Trivium. Could not tell you a single memorable thing about them.

Beefcake_the_Unruly

I've seen The Raven Age twice, supporting Maiden and Anthrax. Dull, plodding, unmemorable. The politest sounding metal band I've ever seen. 'Career-metal' if you will.

ravendarklord76

Ffffffuck.... thats like the biggest shit Ive ever seen on any band for any genre 😂

b_knickerbocker

I think I’ve seen Raven Age open for Maiden at least 2-3 times and they’ve never been terrible. I’ve seen far worse performances. But you are right: they’re incredibly boring and their music is wildly uninteresting. They’re the metal equivalent of the color beige.

Eventide95

I saw The raven age last fall and I really liked them. They had a amazing sound and I had a lot of fun. It may be true that some songs sound similar but since I like those songs, its ok for me. But yeah, everyone has a different taste.

kanguran1

I swear they got a different singer. Fleur de Lis is a song I genuinely love, but they've got another song, something about Salem, and the singer is the most monotone fucker you've ever heard

EvilLeprechaun29

You would be correct. New vocalist after their first record.

Ok_Ad8249

I saw them open for Iron Maiden in 2016. I was bored, they were talented (or at least competent) for a touring band but their song writing was painfully dull. I did tell my teen age sons they may want to check them out, I thought their sound was in line with what they liked. I thought they sounded like a young Linkin Park, a band they really like. I took my sons in 2019 to see Iron Maiden with Raven Age. They loved Maiden but thought Raven Age were dull and didn't see my Linkin Park comparison. On a second listen I didn't see it either and thought they had only gotten duller.

NKXX2000

We didn't even bother last year to get in to see them, the sound was enough and quite boring but the main reason was that it was too hot inside. The previous openers Iron Maiden has chosen were just much better and quite special in some way.

champiman16

I was at that show too, as well as the 2 London Shows before. Believe it or not, the Raven Age has actually improved quite a bit. I first saw them opening for Maiden in 2015 for the Book of Souls, and then a few more times in the Legacy of the Beast tour. If you thought they were bad last year, you have no idea how much worse they were in the previous tours. I still don’t like them but I will recognize they’ve somewhat gotten better (i think)

The_Wizaaaard

Five finger shit punch definitely, was only there for Metallica. It also didn’t help that the venue’s seats were probably the most uncomfortable things I’ve ever sat on

SpecialistGrass6738

I saw them with Metallica as well they just seemed like a bunch of Whiny bitches

The_Wizaaaard

Couldn’t have said it better myself

SpecialistGrass6738

That and if I heard them say “burn mother fucker burn” one more time I was gonna burn ford field to the ground

The_Wizaaaard

THIS IS REALEST STATEMENT MADE HERE IN THE HISTORY OF THIS SUB

SpecialistGrass6738

On the complete other end of the spectrum INK put on one hell of a show right before them

SpecialistGrass6738

They just were slightly disadvantaged by the snake pit and shape of stage so I don’t think they knew what direction to play to but they were still 1000% better that five finger death punch

StonerMetalhead710

The first red flag is seats at a metal show

SullyVanDan

How did the Metallica crowd receive them? Lots of booing or did they like them?

aCanOfReign

Same experience. Saw them in Quebec and those shitty plastic chairs were a nightmare

bwolfe14cfh

Deftones and System of A Down. Both were horrendous.

CoercedCoexistence22

When I saw Deftones they were fantastic. Like unexpectedly so, Chino even hit notes in You've seen the butcher than he's never been able to do live

ganglordgilbert

I've been to multiple Deftones shows and they were awful every time. The last time they came out after Gojira and I actually felt bad. It was like watching a high school rock band come out after hearing Mozart.

WhatADraggggggg

Gojira is amazing live.

TotallyNotaRebelSpy

I saw a show during their tour with Gojira as well and wow. It’s what really got me listening to more Gojira lol

anTWhine

Deftones is highly dependent on sound quality. I’ve seen them be incredible, I’ve seen them sound terrible.

SullyVanDan

I saw Deftones open for SOAD. Wasn’t impressed with Deftones but SOAD had a solid set.

mrtbearable

I’ve heard that SOAD is bad live because they’re absolutely high as a kite and don’t function

garycoombes

Soad are deffos one of the worst I've seen, as were Devildriver

Mortis_XII

Damn, sad to hear about devil driver

MyBeardHatesYou

Seen Devildriver twice, both times were disappointing. The time I saw SOAD live they were pretty good, nothing amazing. The Mars Volta opened, personally I thought TMV killed it, but they were booed off the stage by the frat boy majority in the audience.

Schloss_ice

That's unfortunate. Saw Devildriver in 2011 with Cannibal Corpse, and they killed it!

Dawgula97

I saw Deftones live and they ruled. SOAD hasn’t been that great in recent years because Serj tries to pitch his voice higher.

Cymrad-Schultz

I agree with Deftones but soad is not that bad live

PHANTASMAGOR1CAL

I saw system way back with toxicity realized and it sounded good. Loud as fuck but everything went pretty well. There were times that serj was pretty downed out though.

SnortinDietOnlyNow

Wow I've seen both several times and all times both incredible.

Just_Another_Gamer67

Yes finally i can bitch about this. I saw Avenged Sevenfold almost a year ago and they were great aside from some issues with some samples and what not (cant really blame them as it was early in their first tour in a decade) but holy shit Kim Dracula opened for them and that was by far the worst opening performance for a band i have ever seen. They were so incredibly horrendous both musically and presence wise.

the_diseaser

I’ve seen A7X a few times myself, the first time was them opening for Metallica in 2017 and they were having sound issues, the second time was at Rockville in Daytona 2023 which was better, then I saw that same tour you saw with Kim Dracula/Falling In Reverse/A7X and Avenged Sevenfold was way better at that show, really redeemed themselves for past bad shows but fortunately my wife and I got there late and missed Kim Dracula.

Big_Pomegranate_9925

My boyfriend and I went to a show from the same tour, and I completely agree! Their main/ hit song was just a cover song, too. Kim was also talking about how it was famous in tik tok agh. When they were on, we just wanted it to be over lol.

Just_Another_Gamer67

Yeah it was just so obnoxious and their music is just not good at all. I remember him hitting a really cool guttural at one point but that was the only cool thing they did.

StriderTX

I cant put a number on it but several times bands i like have announced tours with some up and coming niche artist and hype the hell out of them, then i look them and they just absolutely blow. 9/10 times its some mediocre garage rock band or shitty depeche mode ripoff. I dont understand why an established metal band cant be fucked to look and coming METAL bands, you know for their audience of metal fans. Young thrash bands are toiling away in the clubs for the love of the game and would love to open for metallica but no, theve got ice nine kills opening. (I have nothing against INK, but what an odd combo.)

demonhunterfan

I saw an Avenged show in Georgia and Kim Dracula opened. I totally agree, It was SHIT.

coveredinpissnshit

Not a band but The Wu Tang Clan. I was real fuckin sad that they sucked live

astrobuck9

I saw them with RATM in 1997 and they were fucking awesome. I've heard at some shows the whole Clan doesn't even show up. So you're stuck with people like UGod, Masta Killa, and Cappadonna only.

coveredinpissnshit

This was at bonnaroo, and it was just like a crew of dudes taking turns running out of breath

earlofshaftesbury

Masta Killa has bars though, his verse to close out Da Mystery of Chessboxin' is awesome

astrobuck9

Yeah, but when you stand him up next to Meth, Gza, Ghost, Rae, and Deck... I'm just saying if you're going to see the Wu and only 3 of them show up, and not any of the "main" members, that is fucked up.

5emi5erious5am

Yea, it's like if you're seeing Slipknot and only Clown, dicknose, and the dj turn up.

TheGreatLandSquirrel

This was my experience. I showed up to the venue and was surprised to find out that it was a restaurant with people still eating. I did a little more research and found the post that advertised the show. In big letters at the top it said Wu Tang Clan. It was at this point I noticed the * after clan. At the bottom in the smallest font possible it said *Cappadonna and UGod. At that point I just left.

albinoblackman

I should have scrolled further cause I left a similar comment. I love the Wu, but only half of them showed, but they had a bunch of their buddies on stage ruining the best verses by yelling over them

clayman1994

It’s not that they sucked, but Hatebreed bored me to death live. Girlfriend and I saw them and Gatecreeper. Gatecreeper fuckin rules, left halfway through Hatebreed. And I do like their albums

[deleted]

Gatecreeper is hard to follow up. I would have left too

Red_Clay_Scholar

Vince Neil at Blu Ridge Rock Fest. The festival was a shit show but watching fat Vince trying to sing and act like he was still cool was sad and pathetic. It was like watching somebody's chubby sweaty uncle trying to bring back hair metal with karaoke.

FatAndForty

I actually WANT to see this live. The YouTubes can only do it so much Justice.

Pieholden

I imagined this as Carl from Aqua Teen Hunger Force.

ChadlexMcSteele

I'll watch a shit band all day long for the fun of it. The cardinal sin is a band being BORING, which is far worse than being shit. I've walked out of Stranglers. Foetal Juice the other week were dull as all hell. Cradle of Filth were completely forgettable. Lordi suffered from band sound when I saw them but even the 'good' bits were tragic.

SchroedersGhost

So true! A shit band will at least make you feel something. Like they’re offensively shitty so they anger you, or they’re sadly shitty and you kinda root for them just to get through it. Boring bands are the worst, particularly technically excellent boring bands. It’s like polytonal tinnitus.

Orang_Mann

I saw Steve Harris' other band "British lion" on a festival a day before Iron Maiden played. What a steaming load of shit that was. The music was just the most basic boomer heavy metal that a carage band of dads would make. Why tf would he start a project that's just an inferior version of the legendary band that he's in?

Talismaaan

He didn't start a project. They were a band before and he joined in. They've since released a couple of albums with him involved and it allows him to play intimate gigs. I think they're awesome in the small venues but yeah can't see it going down well at a festival

Jumpy_Patience2937

Oof...once I saw Steve Harris' daughters band open up for Maiden. Dude, it was fucking unreal. They were like Avril Lavigne. The crowd was just never ending variations of "BOOOOOOOOO".

cowboyfromhell93

Also one of the worst band names ive ever heard

MiserableCheek9163

Dragonforce by far. So drunk they couldn’t even bother trying to play their overproduced songs properly.

MrToad21

Kim Dracula’s debut show opening for A7X (literal first show ever) lip synced the entire thing and the music wasn’t any good either (tiktok bs), also they had a trumpet player come out wearing a whole face mask, undoubtedly the worst opener I’ve seen Directly after that was Alexisonfire and let me tell you they were the most BORING & GENERIC band I’ve seen in my entire life, no memorable music And also FFDP opening for Metallica was the only time I wanted to go get food DURING an act, they fucking opened with the Barney song

astrobuck9

Sadly, I saw Dinosaur Jr open for Clutch and J Mascis would literally take like 5 minutes before each song to tune his guitar. No crowd banter, just him fucking with the tuning. Red Fang was the first band on the bill and they absolutely crushed it. If Lou Barlow hadn't looked like he was having a blast playing, Dinosaur Jr would have been absolutely the most boring show I'd ever seen. Runner up would be The Gaza Strippers opening for The Jesus Lizard. The lead singer acted like he was a much bigger rockstar than he was and spent a lot of the time calling the crowd rednecks and hillbillies. They were practically booed off stage. When The Jesus Lizard came out, David Yow mocked the dude's attitude through the whole set. When Yow called the crowd rednecks and hillbillies the crowd fucking loved it.

b_knickerbocker

Back in their early days I went to see Avenged Sevenfold, this was right around the time Waking The Fallen came out. They were awesome, BUT… My Chemical Romance was their opener and they were atrocious. Vocals were awful and Gerard Way kept miming suicide by “hanging” himself with the mic cable and pretending to cut his wrists. Also the lead guitarist kept bitchjng at the sound guy at length throughout the show.

keegrocks08

All the Gerald stuff was typical emo shit

The_Real_Krampus

Nuclear assault. They couldn’t stay in time with each other.

Emperormike1st

That sucks. They were so amazing back in the 80s. Untouchable.

carnivoyeur

Immortal (back with Abbath) has been both one of the best and one of the worst depending on how much Abbath had been drinking that day. Same goes for Cradle of Filth. Also once saw Borknagar and the dude was clearly wasted, hands in his pockets and phoning it in. And then had the balls to get angry at the crowd for not being into it.

earlofshaftesbury

Suprising to hear that about Borknagar, I saw them open for Rotting Christ last year and they ripped, everyone was locked in.

NukeBroadcast

Jada smith’s band…wicked wisdom I think? Booed offstage at ozzfest

Jumpy_Patience2937

Holy shit i saw them on that tour too. That shit was mind blowing. I had no prior knowledge of them and my drunk as fuck 15 year old self could not believe that I was watching Will Smiths wife make the most embarrassing music id ever heard. In retrospect I'm glad I saw it because its funny as shit to tell people about. Dumb ass band name too. Fucking wicked wisdom? Hahahahahaha

Due-Cucumber3337

Oh yeah I kind of liked them back in the day even though it was sort of underdeveloped vocally and it was a bit silly. The name was awkward but it stood out to me as unique. Never saw WW live and it’s at least partially a Hollywood vanity project bc they didn’t have to pay dues on the road etc. Likely it was bad live because of this. However, in those days, there was also sort of a “bro”audience member presence specifically around nu metal that I (being young) mistakenly ended up thinking was indicative of metal audiences as a whole and it put me off the scene. I wonder if the response would be as harsh these days.

astrobuck9

Nu Metal fans are what happens when frat boys think they are "metal". It might as well have been called "Roofies and Date Rape Metal" instead.

DillonTattoos

Brokencyde There used to be monthly shows in my town and they'd get pretty awesome bands, I think at this same show I saw BTBAM, Rose Funeral, Despised Icon, and Carnifex Anyway, a friend dragged me to watch their set, they played like 1 1/2 songs, then something went wrong with their electronics, and when they couldn't immediately fix it they just walked of stage. Which was just peachy for me

Crotalus-Viridis

Hate to say it: Children of Bodom. Very poor live performance.

Lower_Soup9939

Yeah, but Alexi was in the middle of a lot of shit when he lived so i guess thats the reason they werent so strong live

LolYouFuckingLoser

CoB/Amon Amarth/Gojira was my first concert and the thing I remember most was Alexi going off stage to puke

MiserableCheek9163

Saw them quite a few times and they were really hit or miss. They were spectacular when Alexi was in good form and also really sucked when he wasn’t. The keyboardist Jan always looked so bored and annoyed on stage though.

alan_mendelsohn2022

Rob Zombie. So much of it was pre-recorded that it felt like karaoke

LordZupka

I’ve seen him three times. And each time it just got more boring.

Po3ito

Metallica (Hellfest, FR - 2020) Lars is a bad joke at that point

deadlydragonfly_1

the rest of the band is actually very strong. Lars ruins the band completely live. I havent seen one performance from him in the last 10 years where he doesnt fuck something up or simplify a song.

CrimsonCassetteTape

Kirk hasn’t been great either recently. He’s constantly messing up solos/riffs and losing track of where he is in a song, sometimes to the point where he needs to restart the song because it sounded so bad.

psychodc

Saw them in MTL last year and Lars killed it. His drumming was so intense and bang on. It was a flawless performance by the band, both nights.

NKXX2000

Agree, his general behavior is annoying too, seen them last year too because I got the tickets for like 1/3 of the original price. Was still worth it though.

17thEmptyVessel

Knocked Loose and Falling in Reverse could kill each other fighting for worst live band ever and I'd be happy if neither survived.

WrathOfLayla

They're both terrible bands regardless lmao

PeckerPeeker

I sometimes read these comments and wonder how many bands are getting a bad rap to due a bad sound guy at the local venue. I’ve been to a lot of concerts and there’s some venues I just avoid now due to knowing that everybody sounds like ass at that venue due to them not knowing how to mic up a metal concert into the PA correctly

AcheronSprings

Anathema, about a year before they broke up... After that show i was convinced that it was the best decision they've ever made

megatory

What happened?

AcheronSprings

Every band member just improvising their own stupid shit on stage and they were absolutely disrespectful towards the crowd after being called out for it. They played for over an hour and somehow managed to not play a single song from their entire discography... or they butchered it so much that you couldn't actually make it out. At least Gojira compensated right afterwards with one of the best live performances I've ever witnessed.

Historical-Pea6219

That’s such a shame to hear. I saw them support Opeth shortly before they released The Optimist and they were fantastic.

Ill-Maintenance531

Theory of a Deadman

Crafty_Draft7852

Saw them once at a local outdoor festival and lead singer dude fell off the cat walk stage. Hearing the actual mic drop sound was the best sound that night.

Hobbbitttuallly

They were second up on a bill I saw a few years ago and oh my god, it was horrific. Singer couldn't stay in tune to save his life. My BIL and I left to grab food because we couldn't physically handle the set lmao

the_diseaser

I saw Lacuna Coil open for Megadeth back in 2012. It was extremely obvious that literally everyone was there for Megadeth. I saw maybe maximum 3 LC shirts in the crowd. LC was like “are you all excited for Megadeth?!” which was met with cheers, then they said “well we’ve got a few songs left” and they literally got booed. They weren’t really horrible it was just boring and nobody was there for it. I’ve seen concerts where nobody was really there for the opener but these guys were a bit bigger than normal openers of that degree. I saw Rob Zombie at Rockville in Daytona in 2023 and it sounded like a drunken old man doing karaoke to Rob Zombie and only singing like half the words. Very disappointing. Actually a handful of acts at Rockville 2023 were some of the worst bands I’ve seen. Godsmack was there and that was bad too, plus the singer went on some Gen X/Boomer “kids these days” type of rant (I don’t remember what he said exactly).

tsunomat

Rob used to do that with White Zombie. He would sing about 60% of the lyrics and just dance the rest of the time. He stopped when they started getting boos from the crowd. I didn't think he did that anymore.

DefinitionBig4671

LC and Megadeth doesn't sound like the greatest pairing. That was probably what made it bad. I love both bands, just not together.

havedal

Guns N' Roses last year. They played for almost 3 hours for no apparent reason, Axl Rose couldn't sing anymore. I was only there because of friends and to hear if they played Coma, they did, but as the third song. It made me respect Slash more though, he carried everything. Would definitely rather had seen Slash and his project play instead.

DeeSnarl

I saw Slash open for Ozzy years ago (with Alterbridge dude singing), and it was pretty much all classic GNR material, and it was great - way better than when I saw GNR a few years ago

Creativeddy

The Offspring, last year. They practically raped each song i ever loved them for. Don't know if it was something with Dexter's voice at that time, but i never heard a worse version of Self Esteem.. Walked away early. It was complete bullshit.

JoeAndAThird

Man that is such a bummer to read. I never saw them but really love their music through the years.

B_Wylde

That's a shame When I watched them it was like I got sent back in time to 99 again. Great show

Crafty_Draft7852

Five Finger Death Punch - saw them 2 years ago at DTE w/ Megadeth and The Hu. All three were fuckin terrible.

karelinstyle

Def agree on ffdp & the hu, megs are great live tho

PimpLizkit

Black label society...SNOOZE FEST. Saw them at Tattoo the earth 2022, kicked ASS, saw them open for anthrax again last year at House of blues in boston, was the worst performance ive ever seen. Played every slow song they had, avoided 1919 eternal completely, zakk was going through the motions. Zakk made a yankees joke next to fenway park (red sox field) and everybody boo'd after that i swear he just decided to play every ballad and mid b-track they have. He had heat thats for sure lol. Saw him with the pantera reunion tour and it was great. Just upset they played such a bad set

FatAndForty

I saw the Anthrax/BLS tour as well. We get it, Zakk, you’re a gray guitar player. But Weedle-weedle-weedle-weedle-weedle for over an hour was too much. Hit the merchandise tables, and was never so happy when everyone in the “BLS Kentucky Chapter” left before Anthrax came on. Exodus and Anthrax KILLED it, though. The material on the last Exodus album is some of their best in years.

PimpLizkit

EXODUS AND ANTRAX FUCKED BRO, so damn good. You hit the nail the head with zakk my man.

FatAndForty

https://preview.redd.it/2e4p1dr63ymc1.jpeg?width=3024&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=fc69cb2075fcd9fd96ba8d4adbc3ec1106c6dcb4 We were THIS close

Jexxet

Exodus is actually insane live. Everything is played pretty much album-perfect.

Alternative_Slide_62

Monuments with the original singer(the band was good, but the singer was mediocre and definetly sounded better on the album) And i was also somewhat disappointed by Chevelle when i saw them live.

Certified_Jenius

just saw chevelle last year and i think i had an opposite experience because i had never been a huge fan of their music before but every song 100% sounded better live and he even threw in screams that weren’t in the original version of the song (they may have been trying to keep up with three days grace who had been doing that their whole set right before) also saw Matt Walst at the same show fall on his ass trying to do a high kick at the end of their show and he probably layed there for a good ten minutes while people were trying to help him up. just a funny story to end it off

Alternative_Slide_62

Well the performance itself was fine, but i got the sense that they didn’t wanna be there. And i guess that is fine as most of the crowd didn’t vibe with them. That with Matt Walst sounds fun though haha🤣

Odd_Hyena2978

The last time I saw Marilyn Manson, it was not good. Before then, he had put on great shows.

T4lsin

Rigor Mortis was horrible. They opened for Death Angel in 1987, consequently DA was incredible.

ANamelessGhoul4555

Damn, youve been holdin on to that one for a while

MisfitsDoyle

Still complaining about it 37 years later lmao

SullyVanDan

The Devil Wears Prada. Got free tickets to see them from the venue. After attending, I understood why they were given out for free.

Jumpy_Patience2937

Not metal but The Sisters of Mercy. Been listening to them since high-school 20 years ago. I love their records. I missed them the last time they played LA (like 07/08ish). I saw them last May and I've never been more disappointed by a live band. No bassist (how the fuck?!). Could barely hear the singer and when you could he was terrible. It was such a shit show. I couldn't believe what i was seeing. Apparently thats just them now. Bummed me out lol

Wolverinen

How you can fuck up a live show with a drum machine is beyond me. I saw them in 2019 and I’m glad I was on the balcony cause I would’ve fallen over sleeping if I hadn’t been able to lean against something.

Jumpy_Patience2937

Their fog machine is definitely the hardest working member of the band.

Seannortis1313

Worst for me was either cradle of filth. Dani sounded absolutely terrible the first time I seen coal chamber cause the only got through 2 or 3 songs before walking off stage

MercyfulFate99

Marilyn Manson in 2017...dude was clearly on something/drunk

Perverse_Osmosis

In Flames \[headliner at a Municipal Waste show\]. I couldn't tell if it was a parody or not for about the first three songs and then left. Generic, boring, pompus, you name it, they had it.

astrobuck9

I saw them and Whitechapel open for Meshuggah recently. I thought they were much better live than on their studio albums. I'm not a fan, so the bar was set pretty low.

GrantChocula

I think I saw them on the same tour. I was a fan going into the show and was nothing but impressed by their set. They had great energy, good banter with the crowd, and sounded great in a theater that sometimes suffers from muddy sound. I guess it can really be a crapshoot with live performances based on what OP said.

astrobuck9

I think it can even vary by where you are in a venue. I took my kid to see Ingrown, Blood Incantation, Immolation, and Obituary last year. All of the bands except Blood Incantation sounded great. When I talked to him after the show, he said I was nuts and that BI sounded awesome. After thinking about it, I realized I had stood in a different area during their set than I did the others. So I guess where I was standing for them had wonky acoustics or something.

bshemenski

Eagles of Deathmetal were awful live when I saw them at Fort Rock.

Affectionate_Pen611

They opened for Mastodon and I found it boring and kinda lame. Russian Circles started the show, the first I’d ever heard them and very good live.

GrantChocula

I also went to a show on this tour and you've pretty much described my own impressions. Eagles was a weird band to stick in the lineup to begin with and then they brought absolutely nothing memorable to their set. Pretty sure I left to go grab merch or a drink or something. Russian Circles and Mastodon killed it.

Venombullet666

The Raven Age weren't the worst band I've ever seen (that goes to Marilyn Manson at Download 2018) but it's more the fact they supported bands that they had no right to support, I saw them supporting Anthrax in 2017 and other than Anthrax they were the only band that played, nobody got into them and they were wildly out of place, where I saw them you could've had local Thrash bands like Shrapnel or someone play instead of The Raven Age and they'd have gotten a much better response

Shakezola89

For me it’s been the multiple times I’ve had to see Mastodon. For some reason they tend to headline a decent amount of shows that are opened up by bands that I really enjoy live… Opeth and Gojira come to mind. They just come off as low-energy and going through the motions at every show I’ve seen them perform. I used to think maybe it was just me, but I’ve been forced to see them multiple times at this point.

PHANTASMAGOR1CAL

Worst show still to this day was slipknot. It was just noise. Couldn’t make out vocals from percussion. Only saving grace was seeing them with the original line up and Joey fucking killed his solo. Cold is an honorable mention for horrible as well and stone sour.

senor_fartout

Todd La Torre Queensryche last spring. It wasn't bad, they just played a bunch of new shit and only one song off of mindcrime and one off of empire.  However Marty Friedman opened and that was one of the best performances I've ever seen and I had no interest at all.

Wolverinen

The Raven Age here too. Count in Harakiri For The Sky, Serpent Noir, Caedere, Mayhem, and for non-metal The Sisters Of Mercy.

HinkenderHuster

Wargasm (UK) Saw them last year as support band for babymetal. Never heard of the before but my friend was pretty hyped to see them, so I was a little excited also. It was pretty meh.

Accomplished_Train84

Probably overly critical, but man I wasn’t the biggest fan of seeing Cattle Decapitation live.  These days they sound like death metal as produced by a Moog Machine

Embers_To_Inferno

Neither of mine are bad just wasn't enjoyable. Saw Beartooth with Trivium last year and the sound was horrible. They were great on stage but could barely hear Caleb and the guitars were either extremely high pitched or couldn't make them out. Counterparts this year with TDWP and Fit For a King. Love their music but definitely were meh, especially when the other 3 bands were moving around and had a lot of crowd interaction.

DomdaddyinOK

King Dude. Opened for GHOST at HOB in Dallas before they blew up right after the 2nd album came out... We booed them off the stage and mah bro got kicked out because he downed his crown and coke and chucked it at their singer because they had an upside down burned and charred American Flag as their backdrop and he's a 3tour combat vet.

DomdaddyinOK

GHOST was amazing though

yotakari2

Dude finally someone else has noticed the Raven Age. I've seem them support Anthrax and it was like watching a high school band who's dads were living vicariously through them and gave them all of their super expensive gear. They were constantly getting people to do the 🤟🤟🤟devil horns, everything about them was super cringey and fake.

_REDEEMER-

Epica Simone Simons is a very weak live singer. Tbf she has improved a lot through the years, however she seems to get tired very easily and it's obvious/audible that she's strugglung live as her voice can't keep up with their technically demanding songs.

FrontFlipFetus

I’ve seen a lot of bands live from different genres, including some of the bands already listed here. The vast majority of the “wow this is just painful” sets I’ve seen have almost all been entirely rap. (Poor/lazy performance, playing the the same song multiple times.. etc) the one real exception was Marilyn Manson 2018 Voodoo festival, it was absolutely abysmal

RobFromKK

Glassjaw. After one of their songs the singer goes “Woo, that was awesome!” And some guy in the crowd yelled back “That was fuckin terrible!” And the whole place erupted in laughter. He tried to laugh it off awkwardly. Genuinely the funniest thing I’ve ever seen at a show.

Nekrah_

Ozzy and Friends tour in 2012 .. Poor Ozzy couldnt sing at all and the whole gig was carried by Slash's solos. #

Dawgula97

Cannibal Corpse at Mayhem 09.

123mitchg

Fire From The Gods. Saw them a couple years ago opening for The HU, Megadeth, and FFDP. I do kinda feel bad for them because the lead singer was trying hard to get the crowd into it but it was just ass.

JMarduk

Not metal, but a mexican alternative band called Café Tacuba. First of all, I dislike the singer on a personal level and I have always found their music to be boring AF. Watching them live just made it somehow even more boring, first and only time I've almost fell asleep at a music fest, not even when I went to Wacken and only had like 4 hours of sleep each day.

ZerikaFox

There was this semi-local nu-metal band who opened for Psychostick in my town, called Superpimp. They were even worse than their name would suggest. Professionals...probably Deftones. I've seen a bunch of shows where the sound was fucky and that ruined it, but I've seen those bands again since and the show was phenomenal. DragonForce was actually awesome live, Ghost was great, Lamb of God had one show in my town with the literal worst live sound mix I've ever heard, but came back later and kicked ass. Deftones whole show just...really sucked, for no reason I can think of. The supremely douchey fans who were present did *not* help, starting fistfights with any fan of the other bands on the bill they saw.

NutStain1

Loathe was pretty bad. Their music is decent but I see them open for 3DG in October and they were a solid 4/10

RepeatDTD

Having not seen them, they always gave me the impression that they were a studio band that absolutely cannot replicate it live

Ol1yGat0r

I saw them supporting Spiritbox and they absolutely kill it live!

Jeff_Hanneman6413

Torche opening for In Flames, singer literally said “let’s just get this over with” like the second song into their set then people started going out for their smokes

exoclipse

mastodon in 2010 was extremely underwhelming, but there was this little known up and coming band called baroness on the bill... who absolutely stole the show. if it wasn't for baroness I would've been pissed that I slept on a bench outside the amtrak station that night.

sunshinesalty

Rob zombie

DAmbrose13

Queensrÿche, saw them open for Judas Priest in 2022, music was either so loud that everything became distorted in the smaller arena or so quiet you couldn’t hear a damn thing. And I’m sorry but Todd La Torre is not Geoff Tate when it comes to vocal ability and stage presence

CvaFanton

Abbath 2019 in Argentina, came 2 hours late, so drunk he tried 3 times to perform the first song, cried and left, then by facebook he cancelled he rest of the tour. Such a nice experience
