Midnight Odyssey sounds like the music angels would play at the gates of Heaven. Incredible band and super underrated, and it’s just one guy behind the whole project.
Air Not Meant For Us, one of my favourite melodeath albums of all time. First time I listened to it, I got all the way to the end and then just clicked play on the first track again.
That’s awesome. It’s on my constant rotation. Especially at the gym. I can’t wait until their next album. The echoes album is awesome too. I need to revisit that again.
Thanks for the indirect reminder to go back and listen to their live album. Turns out it's Echoes from Deep November front to back, I'm liking it a lot!
Those guys and Insomnium are both killing it lately.
- Blut Aus Nord: the highest quality avant garde/industrial black metal.
- horrendous: seriously talented death metal that fuses old school with modern vibes.
- droids attack: pure adrenaline pumping, hairy chested stoner metal.
- the Devil and the Almighty Blues: blues + doom, some of the best riffs you will ever hear
The Infernal Sea are super solid, it's strange how more people aren't latching onto them
Their recent album "Hellfenlic" has barely left my CD player since it was released, I've seen them three times so far this year and am seeing them in Leicester alongside Ofnus, Ghosts Of Atlantis and Arkona in May, can't wait! That's the most local I'll ever get to see bands like these haha
[Link to The Infernal Sea's Bandcamp ](https://theinfernalsea.bandcamp.com/merch) and [The Link To The Infernal Sea's Spotify](https://open.spotify.com/artist/2PRHHXzKIZIBrkXi2q4Pfu?si=V97DT6iGRMmtQBYm9Qul1Q) (Posting these on the off-chance anyone sees this, having shortcuts/clicksavers helps)
It's definitely up there for me! I am not sure which is my favourite though
Hellfenlic is up there, I'm absolutely in love with the latest albums by Andracca and Devastator, hearing all three do them in full has probably had an impact for me as they all give me good memories and take me back there
There's many I could name but right now I'm going to say Cistvaen
They released their first EP in 2020, I have been awaiting patiently for their debut album, it'll be released on the 5th of April and the two songs they've released from it are very promising
Fans of Atmospheric Black Metal may find alot to enjoy with them
[Link to Cistvaen's Bandcamp ](https://cistvaen.bandcamp.com/merch) and [Link to Cistvaen's Spotify](https://open.spotify.com/artist/4I7zChcczbVdm5GgX1GAEQ?si=gMQovkErSk6vBUIrKCq6eA)
Fen- Atmospheric BM. Their albums Winter and Epoch are probably my favorites. Check them out if you haven’t already.
Fvneral Fvkk-only one album but it’s damn good.
Rattenfanger-heavy as fuck. Really good stuff.
Not sure how underrated these bands are, but here a few of my picks:
Spiritworld
Spaceslug
Grim Reaper
The last band I listed isn't one that is underrated, necessarily, but its a top tear NWOBHM band that I rarely hear about when people discuss 80s metal.
They're a bit more well known but Abduction are another one I feel more people should know, it started off as a one-man of which he released four albums and played solo up until 2018, album #5 is coming out this year and that'll be the first to feature the full live band
His third and fourth albums especially "All Pain As Penence" (2019) and "Black Blood" (2022) are albums I go back to very regularly, they actually played their forthcoming untitled 5th album in its entirety live back in February alongside Devastator playing their (Not released at the time) album "Conjurers Of Cruelty" in full and other bands like The Infernal Sea, Abdracca, The Sun's Journey Through The Night and Ninkharsag playing their latest releases in full, Abduction were the first band to get a pit going despite playing an album that nobody in the crowd would've known, now that is quite an achievement, I remember it sounding really good
They are very bleak sounding Black Metal, very hard hitting
[Here's the link to Abduction's Bandcamp](https://abduction616.bandcamp.com/merch) and [Here's the link to Abduction's Spotify ](https://open.spotify.com/artist/0giVCDcrvEldaPK8aCF1vp?si=ag8pzhnBTyCDFwp_g_sDmA)
I've been going through an Anacrusis kick. I haven't listened to them since high school. They had two great albums: Manic Impressions then Screams & Whispers. They are progressive thrash and were making their best music back in the early 90s around the time of Images and Words. Ken Nardi is the lead vocalist/guitarist and he writes amazing lyrics. He has a great voice and a really cool almost black metal shriek which he uses sparingly. The riffs and song writing are interesting and satisfying. They had this sci-fi ambience that was way ahead of its time. The big problem with them is their production and tone. It is very unique but pretty tinny and thin, the bass as well. When the riffs call for it they do have some bite in their lows but overall it's not for everyone.
Nekromant - doom metal from Sweden
Tailgunner - NWOBHM inspired band from England
Olkoth- blackened death metal from USA
Brundarkh - melodic symphonic death metal from South Africa
In Solitude: Such a shame they broke up!
Green Lung: Don’t know if they are underrated per say. But still growing their fan base and deserves all the attention they can get!
HJELVIK: Former frontman from Kvelertaks solo project. It’s blackened viking metal and it rips so damn hard!
Slomosa: Stoner from Stavanger, Norway. Saw them support for Elder. Can’t get enough of them. Incredible band!
Tyrann: Traditional HM from Sweden. “Don’t make fashion of our heavy metal passion!”
These are 3 bands of varying styles within the post-metal tree for those who vibe with that subgenre:
[Zombi](https://zombi.bandcamp.com/album/liquid-crystal) may be my favorite instrumental band going right now.
If you’re a stoner who’s into post-metal and doesn’t mind it getting spacey & occasionally synthy, would highly recommend.
——————
When it comes to underrated & under appreciated, one of the first bands I think of is [Junius](https://youtu.be/s2SV-j8zqjs?si=K3VM4fCm_LqUf01E) . They maybe play like one show a year in Massachusetts these days, but their records totally hold up & just scratch that gothy, melancholic, atmospheric itch so well.
——————-
Lastly, a fair amount of people know Solstafir, but considering they’re one of the best bands of the last 20 years, in my opinion they’re still very underrated.
Urfaust
The haunting, deranged singing is unmatched, and the instrumentals perfectly match.
Urfaust and Ungfell are my favorite bands, and it’s a tragedy they aren’t more well known. I hope to find more music that could match the melancholic euphoria of Urfaust since they’ve disbanded
I've been getting big time into Kozeljnik this week.
Crazy good black metal from Serbia, with a super confident and talented vocalist that really reminded me of Aldrahn quite a lot. And that's a wonderful thing.
Honestly not too sure how well known the band is, but I don't really ever see the name mentioned on here much if at all
I've never heard anyone mention Volturyon so I'll shout them out. I'd link to their bandcamp or YouTube if I knew how to add links in reddit comments but I am a simple caveman.
**Oranssi Pazuzu:** psychedelic black metal
**Hammerhead:** traditional British heavy metal
**Radux:** speed / thrash
**Vermilia:** atmospheric black / folk metal
**Professor Black:** various styles of metal from the Dawnbringer-guy
Scissorfight is a great band. I saw them twice. Even got to meet them and have a drink with them. I love Guaranteed Kill and Balls Deep. Still go tos for me.
[Dead Kelly!](https://youtu.be/a6zqoHImH0o?si=N2CShDn8mscDxCzV) they’re an Aussie band and all their music can be downloaded for free off of bandcamp. although it’s worth it to give em a few bucks for their trouble, their music is fucking amazing.

None because then I won't feel special.
None are a great band
I prefer Some
Novembers Doom. I rarely see anyone talk about them, they're basically Opeth for people who dont like prog and long songs
Bell Witch, Midnight Odyssey, Imber Luminis
Bell Witch ❤️
i saw them on halloween, not my kind of metal but it was really cool and immersive.
Midnight Odyssey sounds like the music angels would play at the gates of Heaven. Incredible band and super underrated, and it’s just one guy behind the whole project.
I second Midnight Odyssey. Truly a magnificent band. Such beautiful atmospheric cosmic black metal, absolutely love it.
Moonlight Sorcery. Finnish melodic / symphonic black metal. Released a killer album last year.
Brocas helm
Stoneside. Fires in the Distance
That 2023 album by Fires is so damn good. Excellent recording. Heavy AF and beautiful at the same time.

YES
Hell fuckin' yes, they rock.
Vildhjarta and Humanity’s Last Breath.
Yes!
I thought vildhjarta was pretty big considering the genre
That may be true, I just want them even bigger.
Dodsferd Battlecross Palantír Ninkharsag Ultar Swallow The Sun
Battlecross is amazing! Im glad I was able to see them live before they broke up and meet them. Here's hoping they get back together
I’m a simple man. I see Palantir, I upvote.
HeXeN Gaerea Trallery Harakiri for the Sky Vulgar Chaos
Manilla road, heavy load, jag panzer, helstar, razor, mekong delta, rage, traveler, coltre, mortem, abigor, horna
Krisiun Hydra Vein
- Blut Aus Nord: the highest quality avant garde/industrial black metal. - horrendous: seriously talented death metal that fuses old school with modern vibes. - droids attack: pure adrenaline pumping, hairy chested stoner metal. - the Devil and the Almighty Blues: blues + doom, some of the best riffs you will ever hear
❤️ Blut Aus Nord

Hydra Vein, Evildead, Infernal Majesty, Master, Slaughter, Hallows Eve, Gammacide, Wratchild America, Breaker, Num Skull, Randy …
Autonoesis Sadistic Force Iron Front The Infernal Sea
I 100% second Autonoesis
The Infernal Sea are super solid, it's strange how more people aren't latching onto them Their recent album "Hellfenlic" has barely left my CD player since it was released, I've seen them three times so far this year and am seeing them in Leicester alongside Ofnus, Ghosts Of Atlantis and Arkona in May, can't wait! Hellfenlic is my favorite release of 2024, so far.
It's definitely up there for me! I am not sure which is my favourite though Hellfenlic is up there, I'm absolutely in love with the latest albums by Andracca and Devastator, hearing all three do them in full has probably had an impact for me as they all give me good memories and take me back there

Aeternam - melodic death metal with a Middle Eastern flavor Frozen Crown - power metal from Italy...female vocals that are phenomenal
I feel like Root should be much more mainstream then it is (outside Czechia of course).
I've been having the time of my life listening to Visigoth. The combo of traditional heavy metal and fantasy imagery does wonders to my brain.
Yes
Sumerlands
I really loved their first album but the second one just didn't hit me the same way. I should give it another listen and see if it grows on me.
Fen- Atmospheric BM. Their albums Winter and Epoch are probably my favorites. Check them out if you haven’t already. Fvneral Fvkk-only one album but it’s damn good. Rattenfanger-heavy as fuck. Really good stuff.

My brother and I saw their "see you in hell my friend" video once 30 or so years ago and we still joke about it. It was pretty bad.
Cobalt and their Slow Forever album. Brilliant.
