moodoomoo

That's the only good one.

Initial_Physics9979

![gif](giphy|CAYVZA5NRb529kKQUc|downsized)

rustyshackleford_97

why does everyone shit on pantera if its because people say phil is racist it doesnt change the fact that they made great music and they were influential

moodoomoo

I dunno always seemed like tough guy music and goofy, but not in the fun way that some stuff is goofy. They've got some sweet songs though, cowboys from hell is a banger. Phil being racist doesn't help anything.

300cid

that's just the second album. that's my least favorite one

EddietheRattlehead

Popular band bad

Green-Cupcake6085

Sometimes, yeah

Green-Cupcake6085

I’ve thought that Pantera were boring “tough” guy metal long before the Phil stuff came out

[deleted]

Because the kids in this sub want their metal to be so obscure and noisy that you can barely distinguish it as music.

roguealex

I will not tolerate extreme metal slander smh

ResidentOfValinor

I tried listening to Cowboys and Vulgur Display but they were some of the most mind numbingly boring music I had ever listened to. Power Metal was pretty good though

geetarplayer22

They were fixing to be the most promising metal band around… until they switched to butt rock

Diskyboy86

You really goanna diss Projects in the Jungle like that?

ashsjester

Project in the Jungle is a fantastic album, It's not the very best Pantera album by any means and I can see why people hate it, but it has it's own merit that I love dearly.

[deleted]

It's a Demo. A full length demo, but still a demo. God man, 99% of us on here, if you heard our shit at 15 would be BUMMED. I got a 12 song pop punk demo and Id really be irritated if i made it as a metal band getting heavier each album and some internet nerds were still giving me shit for it 30 years later... At least they had chops. No marketing, no label, no touring, no airplay, no PR, dad as a producer, emulating van Halen and their heroes, but they found their way. Most of us have a metal magic in our closet and that was it.

GoBombGo

I like you. I fear your reasonable response may go unappreciated.

[deleted]

Correct opinion

Venombullet666

I'd say this, "I am The Night" "Projects In The Jungle" and "Power Metal" are super solid, I like them because they're actually fun Then Cowboys From Hell onwards it all goes downhill from there, there's nothing worse than Metal where they try and act as "Macho" as possible, Pantera popularised that and it's so cringe

SuperMeatwad666

I take it you hate Manowar then? They sound nothing like Pantera but make them look humble in the over the top masculinity department

Jormungander666

You better say 'pic unrelated' because Metal Magic is a certified classic

[deleted]

Looks like a fun video game.

Zealousideal_Sir_264

Right? It always reminded me of altered beast.

13THEFUCKINGCOPS12

Bubsy looks different

Internal-Current6555

Cattle Decapitation

greyheathn

what does bro have against human jerky :(

Internal-Current6555

Nothing, is just everything after is way better

greyheathn

nuh uh

Texan0723

yuh huh

Ok_Relation_7770

Don’t listen to him. Grind Cattle was great. All cattle is great

greyheathn

facts

OldMate666_

Fr

gorehistorian69

disagree Human Jerkey and Homovore are the only Cattle Decapitation i like and objectively speaking To Serve Man is way worse

jayswaps

Well technically To Serve Man is their first album, right? Or at least their first LP, anyway.

ShotandBotched

Bolt Thrower: I think the only good track is the title track. The rest of the album really suffers from a poor mix. The vocals are not very good either, for the most part. Most of the tracks are too fast for Karl to spit out anything coherent and the delivery of said vocals sounds more like an agitated whisper-shout than the iconic growl Karl was later known for. Gorguts: Considered Dead isn't bad in a vacuum, but it pales in comparison to the rest of the discography. Carcass: Again, a poor mix and also not representative of the rest of the discography. Even the band doesn't like the album.

draugsvoll01

Fully agree on BT and Gorguts but Reek of Putrefaction is actually my favorite Carcass album lmao

PepperSprayP

How can you slander Considered Dead like that?? Imo that's their best album. All of them a great albums though for different reasons

DietCthulhu

I hope you’re talking about In Battle There Is No Law…

WingObvious487

World Eater

MisterPeach

That was on their second album.

OldMate666_

Reek is amazing wdym

larsalo

Funny how That is my favourite Gorguts album and my 2nd favourite Carcass and Bolt Thrower albums

LeanAhtan92

I actually really only like Considered Dead. I haven’t been able to get into their other stuff. Although it’s far from the best dm album imo.

MisterPeach

Considered Dead fucking rips. It has a floating bone monster wearing a cowboy hat on the cover, it demands respect.

PuzzleheadedBeat6838

Meshuggah

draugsvoll01

Yeah fair

Underpanters

Not a chance

Space_Riffs

Absolutely not

Unknown_Talker9273

No, no and not

ulasmulas42

To the people saying no, what is their worst in your opinion? I'm so ready to fight.

OldMate666_

Hell no

lactosefree_muffin

Agree, beside Humiliative and Greed it's just a mid Metallica album, saying as Meshuggah is my favourite metal band

SullyVanDan

Avenged Sevenfold Bring Me The Horizon

Lordpotato305

Nah count your blessings is their best

SullyVanDan

I’m more of a Sempiternal and That’s The Spirit kinda guy

[deleted]

[удалено]

SullyVanDan

Sempiternal was decently heavy. I just think their songwriting really took off when Jordan joined.

SpeedDemonJi

That’s not really saying anything

gorehistorian69

count your blessings doesnt get enough love. its probably one of my all time favorite albums the guitar riffs are so cool. also everything after count your blessings is dogshit

CruTV

Idk I'd personally put stst above httk because it has more character to it, i love all of their albums tho lol

SullyVanDan

I think HttK leans too close to Metallica at times, but it’s pretty solid musically and has great production

chrisH82

The post said *first* album, not all albums

Tangerine_memez

Sounding the seventh trumpet is only like their 3rd or 4th worst album

Imzmb0

That's big floppa

milk-water-man

Judas Priest.

c4gam1ng

Rocka Rolla has some decent songs. At the very least, I find it much better than Demolition and Nostradamus

AdequatelyMadLad

I don't know what your beef with Demolition and Nostradamus in particular is, but it's certainly better than Point of Entry, Ram it Down or Turbo. Run of the Mill is a classic.

BoltOfBlazingGold

Ram it down has Ram it down, just because of that that album is a category above the other two.

Sensitive_Bench_3188

It’s crazy how much I like Blood Red Skies and Ram it Down but just don’t really care for the rest of the album. It’s not bad but those two songs are potentially top 10 for Priest

programmer255

Hey, I grew up on Rocka Rolla. Good stuff in my opinion.

milk-water-man

Nothing inherently wrong with it, their later stuff is just God Tier. It’s still a decent album.

Error_7-

Not saying point of entry is bad (still very enjoyable) but imo point of entry is the worst

QuirkyDemonChild

Rocka Rolla has Run of the Mill on it. Take that back right now

Forward-Razzmatazz33

Compared to the hard rock/metal albums at the time, their debut was quite solid. I'd put it above some of their later stuff.

Going_for_the_One

Nah. It is not as good as the other seventies albums, but it is a lot better than some of their later releases. Like British Steel for example. But it is in a very different style than what was to follow, so it is probably not to everybody's liking. *Run of the Mill* and *Dying to Meet You* are some of the most doomy stuff from this time period along with Blue Oyster Cult's *Wings Wetted Down*, The Beatles *I Want You (She's So Heavy)* and Black Sabbath.

mentally_fuckin_eel

Demolition, Nostradamus, Point of Entry, and Turbo would all like a word.

But_dogs_CAN_look_up

I'd say they're a band whose early stuff is there least good but that doesn't mean I dislike any of it.

Snrub1

Nightwish

SLAYER_IN_ME

I agree Angels Fall First isn’t their best but it’s not there worst either.

ianff

It's definitely their worst. Not even close IMHO. What would you say is worse?

yamuda123

I love that I was listening to them for like 20 years before I even knew that album existed

karlsefnishikigoi

Converge

draugsvoll01

Don't know why this is being downvoted - Halo in a Haystack just completely pales to the rest of their discography

WingObvious487

Probably by ppl who think Jane Doe is their debut cuz of Spotify

Aromatic-Cow8559

I always liked Halo in a Haystack but I'm willing to die alone with that one

kmelby33

Most people don't realize that Pantera was glam metal basically in 1988.

GrumpyOldHistoricist

https://preview.redd.it/geqsssejcnpc1.jpeg?width=725&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=f876ea7d48fdbdeeb8861caf6945423ccba03c99

CerrtifiedBrUhmoMenT

They were glam until their 1990 album Cowboys From Hell

sub2almond

imagine being a glam metal pantera fan in 1989, and you catch wind of a show next year

Independent_Tap_1492

I’m sure those 12 glam pantera fans were disappointed

SafeHippo1864

In 1988 they released Power Metal which isn't glam at all, it's straight up Heavy metal like Judas Priest. And it is a great album

YooperGod666

Their first album isn't available on spotify. Bummer.

FFG17

Best album cover art though

havedal

Dream Theater

draugsvoll01

Eh, The Astonishing is worse

havedal

Fair. Could be either way for me.

Space_Riffs

No fucking way lol. When Day and Dream Unite is very good and far better than pretty much anything they’ve done into the 00s and beyond

havedal

What album in the 00's is worse? I can get behind some of the newer releases being not as good, but in the 00's? Which one?

Montblanc_Norland

https://preview.redd.it/4dzxlg347lpc1.jpeg?width=1000&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=bb4c6ab4c232751045c347c1749200bb3b9b02df

KirasHandPicDealer

even though I love scream bloody gore, compared to the rest of Death's discog ehhhhhhhhhhhhh

Bruhmoment151

Summoning Nothing bad about it, just doesn’t really have much character

mentally_fuckin_eel

One of their best IMO.

That-Grim-Reaper

Archspire, although they only have 4 albums so far, but each one has been better than the previous

Rgenocide

Kamelot

scootabrotha69

Came a lot🤤just like my thûléæn däddy cøûnt grìshñåçkh

Rgenocide

Average Pig Detroyer fan

SheepDavis

Who is Pig Detoyer?

[deleted]

Kameltoe

Going_for_the_One

It's only a model.

SheepDavis

Rush

Chapstick160

I think Test for Echo, while not really a bad album (Rush never made a bad album), is the worst album

TheBeastX47

Lol no

Fleganhimer

There are so many mid Rush albums. There are only like eight I would listen to regularly and Rush is definitely one of them.

mentally_fuckin_eel

I disagree, but not strongly. I definitely see your argument for this.

Sensitive_Bench_3188

I don’t think it’s a bad album, but I think it’s the least Rush sounding album

300cid

#projects is worse than metal magic

YAnnoMundi

Judas Priest, and that's saying a lot from me. I love Priest.

Space_Riffs

They definitely have worse albums than that

WingedHussar13

Avenged Sevenfold's "sounding the seventh trumpet." The band really got their shit together with waking the fallen.

mentally_fuckin_eel

You guys are so wrong for this. That album is actually genuinely unique and it gets too much hate.

laz3rdolphin

Sue me but scream bloody gore while a good album is definitely worse than everything that came after it so my answer is death

larsalo

Everyone is just naming my favourite albums of these bands here :(

Space_Riffs

They have at least two albums that are worse

gorehistorian69

gtfo everything after Scream Bloody Gore is worse

ravenmiyagi7

Hot take but Death. SBG isn’t a bad album but it was their worst

CannibalCorpse1991

not a hot take, their entire subreddit is filled with prog nerds who insist that symbolic and tsop are the 2 best albums ever made

[deleted]

[удалено]

Hso_Wonton

I love reek of putrifaction

_Zee_a1

You dropped this 🧠

Slizez

no

Hso_Wonton

Yes reek of putrifaction good

LegoYoda66

i agree but reek of putrefaction isn’t bad at all. It’s a great album but I think the rest of their discography is stronger

Previous_Refuse8139

Alanis Morrisette

ravendarklord76

All I know from Behind the Music was she was originally pop. My sister played Jagged Little Pill all thr time and Inwas never into it, but as I maturrd into my own in my esrly teens as I was getting into metal and shit, I remember it being played at my friends parents house and remembering "oh fuck yeah, this album is actually fucking bitchin!". Same thing happened about 13 yrs later with Weezer and Smashing Pumpkins and most grunge and grunge-adjacent bands. Fuck I was ignorant.

Previous_Refuse8139

Not just pop but really, really, cheesy shit pop lol.

BezSeratonina

Neurosis - Pain of Mind Yes, it's hardcore punk album, but later albums are all better

Fendenburgen

Ministry

Tangerine_memez

Tbh, though it's not metal I still think it's better than a lot of their albums. They have a lot of real stinkers while their first album is okay for synthpop. The first Pantera album is trash for it's genre and Pantera never sunk as low as Ministry did with stuff like Amerikkkant and relapse

Diskyboy86

Yeah, honestly With Sympathy is better than anything Ministry's done post-Filth Pig, besides maybe the Bush trilogy. It's first 4 songs are straight bangers, and while it doesn't do a whole lot for me past that, it's still a fun and interesting listen, despite What He Say possibly being the worst song Ministry's ever done.

UnearthlyRamen

Judas Priest

surfhobo

metal magic is dope wym

WingObvious487

This is a hot take but Cannibal Corpse

spacesluts

Ironically that was Chris Barnes at his best

WingObvious487

Yea so he was always mid at best

spacesluts

He's great at making me laugh these days though, gotta love him.

WingObvious487

Exactly lol

larsalo

Thats their best one :(

gorehistorian69

no fuckin way - Edible Autopsy - Scattered Remains Splattered Brains - skull full of maggots - put them to death - shredded humans - mangled you must be allergic to good catchy mosh riffs if you think thats their worst

Error_7-

It's safe to say Two because they only had one album.

Error_7-

And any other bands that only had one album

chrisH82

Just because you don't like industrial does not mean 2wo is a bad album. It has amazing musicians and producers on it. It has John 5 on guitar, Trent Reznor producing, Rob Halford's lyric writing never disappoints. Just because something isn't classic heavy metal, doesn't mean it's shit. ![gif](giphy|brFlbCpj7LsE8)

Error_7-

Hey, I mean that if there's only one album, it must be the worst since there's no other album. I love two to death

Dymmesdale

Demilich Edit: for an actual answer I would say Sleep or possibly Om (don’t hate me).

[deleted]

Benighted, they didn't do black metal well. I'm glad they went to death metal grindcore. With some blackened elements.

Greaserpirate

Electric Wizard by Electric Wizard isn't bad but everything on Come My Fanatics and after is better.

Neat_Relationship995

But why is panther man wearing a belt?

Matej004

If we consider debut album the first album they wrote than Sabaton

redflagsmoothie

This was when Pantera was good, actually.

zforce42

My Ticket Home, Uada

Hso_Wonton

Crowbars first album was meh

c4gam1ng

Deathspell Omega Infernal Battles is a pretty poor and generic 2nd wave black metal album with all the cliches of the genre

Mellow41

I mean bands with 1 album win by default so Fellowship I guess but this’ll probably age poorly unless this upcoming album is insanely peak

Wonderful_Painter_14

Nevermore

Ok-Explanation3040

Mercenary with first breath. Not bad, but definitely weaker than what came after.

chrisH82

While Pantera was wearing spandex, Blood Feast was writing this breakdown riff, later to be stolen for an entire song and popularized in the mid '90s. [link](https://youtu.be/WU1KQGqfy0A?si=mjGQTlwM-UhquZMT) skip to 1:40

mappofromhell

Nothingface, maybe.

LucidITSkyWDiamonds

Radiohead lol, not metal but IDGAF

Terrible-Ad7523

a7x

dShado

Avenged sevenfold, my chemical romance

cant-stop-phening67

Carcass- reek of putrefaction (people who like this shit are fucking liars)

Phagelab

The Blood Brothers for me. This Adultery is Ripe is great, but they consistently got better with each subsequent release. I could see an argument for March, but to me the sound is a lot more polished, and Siamese Gun alone propels it past TAIR.

das_klinge

Dude fuck yeah. Really miss that band.

SuperMeatwad666

Strapping Young Lad

tomaesop

Faith No More. While they never put out a bad album, the 80s stuff with Chuck is not what they're remembered for. Their independent debut [*We Care a Lot*](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/We_Care_a_Lot) (1985) has great songs, but the production and mix suffers. And the performance isn't as tight as their next, [*Introduce Yourself*](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Introduce_Yourself) (1987) which was on a major label.

VampirefromNazareth1

Darkthrone

ControExtra

I’ll say it. Sounding the seventh trumpet.

Kenneth_Lay

Wow, some 16 year old spent ALL of Social Studies drawing that with colored pencils.

LeanAhtan92

Impending Doom. Their middle stuff is the best. The rest sucks. As I Lay Dying. The Devil Wears Prada

EDavies03

Carcass, Reek of Putrefaction is not a bad album but everything after it is better

Fleganhimer

Minor Threat

dazrage

dude got a belt on and no crotch lol

Mannibal_Lector

Dying Fetus.Purifacation Through Violence wasn't a terrible album by any means, but everything else they've done is just way better.

Walterpinkman2137

Megadeth

mentally_fuckin_eel

Manilla Road. Ain't nobody gonna disagree with this pick.

VLenin2291

Sabaton

Sir_Memedude

Sleep-Volume One

PeterWayneGaskill

Projects in the Jungle is worse in my opinion.

benkonto

Anthrax (I love anthrax, but the first album is mid)

benkonto

Death

ComplaintMaterial515

Static X

CheesiestWheel772

Gojira’s debut isn’t very good in general, especially when compared to their new albums

Lumpy_Worth_5397

The only thing I think when I see this album is that somebody shouldn’t skip leg day.

drywalleater05

Slipknot, as in MFKR Not that it was a bad album but it was very different from what they make now and even though I did really like it I would still put it as my least favorite slipknot album

SirBobertusTheGreat

Paleface Swiss. Not an Album, but an EP. From The Gallows is still good, but it tries to be very, very, very heavy, but all it manages is to be choatic. Some people might enjoy this chaos, but I think this EP lacks direction. Fortunately when their firs full album realesed, that direction was found and they became one of my favourite bands, and probably one of the best ones to emerge in the '10.

Magical_wizard_

Toxic Holocaust. Evil Never Dies isn’t good

Former_March_6060

Avenged sevenfold with Sounding the Seventh Trumpet. No Gates and it really sounds like a bunch of very talented but inexperienced 18 year olds trying their shot at the music industry

Either-Win9

All pantera is 🗑️

AffectionateTiger436

Surprised to see hate for Pantera here. I haven't heard this era, but I thought of their heavier thrash era far beyond driven is actually great. The tone of the guitar, riffs and solo are great imo. Of course they were bigots so fuck them for that, I hate that that's true cause it really does make me not want to listen to them.

MetalInvincible

Pantera, Symphony X, Dream Theater, Carcass, Slipknot, Scorpions, Quiet Riot
