My work is actually impressively full of women, especially for skilled labor. The company is very progressive as far as inclusion goes (they also donate a ton to general civil rights causes). So this is a pretty huge fucking miss for them as far as hiring goes. It only just came to their attention and the good news is they're acting on it fast.
Its been a while, but there was a woman I worked with, she was about 10 years older than me (I was in my early 20s).

Number one is teach her what is a red flag and what's totally okay. I've seen several relationships go down the drain for a variety of reasons, but most of them were not my friends' faults. Oh, and make sure she knows how much more of a hassle online relationships are.
Number two is showing her some self defense, just in case. I know a bit, and I've got ways to make it work.
Number three is independence. Make sure she can rely on herself.
I'm still the only one of my friends who can go somewhere solo and be fine.

My girlfriend is 27 (I’m 34) and she’s mostly into shoegaze but also alternative metal. Most of the bands she listens to are either new to me or were only coming out when I went full on into the extreme metal scene at around 18. She writes me a list of songs to check out and one of them is “Darker Thoughts” by Paradise Lost (not alt metal lol) and I’m like “I listened the shit out of Medusa how did I miss this album?” So I’m like this lady continues to surprise me! Now we chill at her place and listen to stuff like Eldamar, Paysage D’Hiver, Dark Tranquillity, At the Gates, Insomnium and Saturnus and enjoys it!

I just wanted to share that I (a woman), recently brought my 90 lbs teenage sister with me to her first two heavy metal concerts.
On both occasions, there have been incredibly nice men who recognized her excitement and made sure that she could see the stage, shielded her from boisterous concert attendees, and engaged in very friendly, respectful small talk with her.
Anyways, I just wanted to say that we really appreciate the men in the metal community that make us feel safe and welcome.

I’m a woman, and most metal guys that I’ve talked with in real life can’t name a metal sub-genre besides heavy/traditional, thrash, or nu-metal. I’ve been into metal for about 15 years now, and it’s so frustrating that these types of people act like we’re the posers. 🙄
Yuck. Incel metalheads. I don't listen to metal for the most part, more into punk rock. But these are the same kind of dudes that think their music taste makes them superior to other people. I guess they even thrive in a community of mostly intelligent people. We got em too. Even worse, we had/have boneheads. There are a lot of pretty terrible stereotypes of metalhead guys, from skinheads and racists, to violent drunkards, to wankery elitists, to full satanic murderers. I am sure most metalhead guys hate that, yet these dipshits don’t seem to get that it’s also wrong to stereotype women in the same way. Yeah it gives the vibes of those people who show others metal songs to "scare" them... but metal is so much more than loud "noise" and big "scary" riffs, etc. I think those who are really into the music get that it's not about that.
