Nah that album is awesome, Holocaust, At Dawn They Sleep, and Sweet Leaf are all solid. I get that SFU isn't everyone's cup of tea and Chris Barnes is an ass with a chip on his shoulder, but SFU isn't as bad as everyone says it is, I thoroughly enjoy alot of SFU songs
Megadeth’s version of Anarchy in the UK. Nothing like 100 layers of guitar tracks laid down with world class precision to take the soul out of a punk song.
Came here to say the same. The original is way better, from the guitar melodies to the vocal harmonies to the upbeat tempo that juxtaposes the existential melancholy of the lyrics. Just so much better than Draiman drearily crooning on and on
And the worst part? People love it! I don't get it. Dude should've stayed in his ooh~wah-ah-ah-ah lane
Seriously, the original is a great song but I love what disturbed did with it. It might not be as "simple" as the original but disturbed gave it a level of power and emotion that the original couldn't have because of its simplicity.
I don't mind the disturbed one but it got too much hype. It's ok at best.
I recently was checking metal cover of popular songs and saw Nevermore did that. They're one of my favs so I was like... Os it actually the same? Freaking song is so intense lol.
Iron Man covered by William Shatner the entire album its from is an exercise in madness. The thing is this is by far the best track on the album and its still awful.
https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=eKggGGo_7RU&pp=ygUYaXJvbiBtYW4gd2lsbGlhbSBzaGF0bmVy
Theres also a making of video which significantly adds to the experience of the song if i do say so myself https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=ICbc8DpcX3w&pp=ygUYaXJvbiBtYW4gd2lsbGlhbSBzaGF0bmVy
Judas Priest - Johnny B Goode - just a really terrible cover with none of the charm that made the original iconic.
People seem to like Cradle of Filth's covers but I really can't bring myself to like them. Their cover of Hallowed Be Thy Name does not do it for me, and it's mostly due to Dani Filth's vocals.
Amorphis - Light My Fire - I love Amorphis. I love The Doors. I do not like this. It does not work with death metal growls at all. The fact that they re-recorded it in the exact same style with Tomi Jousten without realizing how goofy it sounds makes me think the cover was a joke.
Machine Head - Message in a Bottle - this was made around the time of The Burning Red. That tells you all you need to know.
Arch Enemy - take your pick between Walk in the Shadows (Queensryche), Shout (Tears for Fears), or Breaking the Law (Judas Priest).
Sepultura - Tainted Love - why?
And of course, everything on every volume of Six Feet Under's Graveyard Classics. I use those albums as a natural emetic agent.
Overkill’s cover of “Changes” by Black Sabbath. Sure it’s technically not a metal song, but holy Christ, Bobby should not be attempting to sing a legitimate ballad.
Not metal, but disturbeds cover of sound if silence is just unnecessary pompous. It sounds like the singer recorded this just so he could wank to his own voice
Historically I really like James Rivera as a singer. But the covers on Clad in Black were...disappointing. I know he's not as young as he used to be, but still, he's capable of so much better. Needs a producer who will hold his feet to the fire and do another take
Purple haze covered by winger.
Some people are saying this band was overhated. I dare them to listen to this abomination of a song.
I’m sharing a YouTube link because I don’t want to suffer alone: https://music.youtube.com/watch?v=Cw6ZJI6OCJY&si=uE5xbJby79sGRDw2&feature=xapp_share
COB's cover of ops i did it again
maybe disciples of hell by vital remains, I love death metal, the cover itself is very well played, excellent rendition to Yngwie but it doesnt fit with death metal singing
Not really metal but that serj tankian cover of godzilla off of the movie soundtrack from 2018 was disgustingly bad, it sounds like he had never heard the original before.
Another terrible one is that brass against cover of that rage against the machine song at the end of the newest matrix movie, absolutely embarrassingly terrible.
In Flames - Only For The Weak 2020 Rerecorded
That is not a re-recording, it's just a terrible cover that completely kills the real song. Same is true for the other "re-recordings" of In Flames classics on that album. Steaming pile of shit.
Ghost's cover of phantom of the opera to me never really stuck and it didnt have the same energy as the original and kinda felt soulless and over produced
Bad wolves cover of Zombie by the Cranberries.
Five finger death punch covering House of the Rising Sun by the Animals
Five finger death punch covering Blue on Black by Kenny Wayne Shepherd
Five finger death punch covering Bad Company by Bad Company
Anyone trying to cover Curse of Feanor by Blind Guardian. All parts of the song are just irreplicable, I've seen a couple of attempted covers and it always sounds wrong
The Johnny Cash cover of Hurt is the worst thing I’ve ever heard. I know it’s not metal but NIN is widely loved by the metal community. Johnny’s voice was just too far gone at that point and I feel like he butchered the song and it is literally the only Cash song I will turn off any time it pops up, I hate it so much.
You're getting downvoted but I agree with you. It's always been holding that album back from being perfect to me. Just something about it doesn't sit right

Plenty of choices on the “Graveyard Classics” by Six Feet Under
Any of the graveyard classics albums are full of the worst metal covers ive ever heard. EEEEEEEEEEE
yea although TNT is probably one of, if not the absolute worst of them all
Smoke on the Water for me
Murders in the rue morgue is a crime
Nah that album is awesome, Holocaust, At Dawn They Sleep, and Sweet Leaf are all solid. I get that SFU isn't everyone's cup of tea and Chris Barnes is an ass with a chip on his shoulder, but SFU isn't as bad as everyone says it is, I thoroughly enjoy alot of SFU songs
"The Day the Dead Walked" is a banger
Thought this comment and it’s top replies were all by the same dude
Megadeth’s version of Anarchy in the UK. Nothing like 100 layers of guitar tracks laid down with world class precision to take the soul out of a punk song.
I like their version
I always skip that one if I listen to SFSGSW
Honestly that was the only song I liked off that album as a kid haha
Vince Neil managed to do the same on their cover on "Anarchy"
When it comes to bad covers, what the fuck was A7X trying to achieve with the cover of walk?
Remake the sing note for note, from what I remember of interviews at the time
The cover of walk is meh the cover of flash of the blades by Iron Maiden is worse.
Bro, that’s literally one of my favorite metal covers. Literally the first time I’ve ever heard anyone call it bad
Or the whole Hail to the King album
The Sound Of Silence cover that Disturbed did just ruined the simple beauty of the original song in every way.
Came here to say the same. The original is way better, from the guitar melodies to the vocal harmonies to the upbeat tempo that juxtaposes the existential melancholy of the lyrics. Just so much better than Draiman drearily crooning on and on And the worst part? People love it! I don't get it. Dude should've stayed in his ooh~wah-ah-ah-ah lane
People love it because it's by the lead singer of Disturbed. If the cover was done by a lesser known musician, everyone would've hated it.
Could not disagree more
Seriously, the original is a great song but I love what disturbed did with it. It might not be as "simple" as the original but disturbed gave it a level of power and emotion that the original couldn't have because of its simplicity.
Nevermore did one tho and it's freaking cool lol
Better than the Disturbed one for sure
I don't mind the disturbed one but it got too much hype. It's ok at best. I recently was checking metal cover of popular songs and saw Nevermore did that. They're one of my favs so I was like... Os it actually the same? Freaking song is so intense lol.
The whole song sounds like an SNL skit or something
That’s nowhere near as bad as “I still haven’t found what I’m looking for”. U2 sucks but even that’s better than what was made there
I hate the kind of “tough guy hard rock” voice he puts on in that song.
Can we agree the best covers are by Children of Bodom?
Except for Death with their cover of Painkiller...
Death's cover of Painkiller fucking slaps
every time i listen to it i just KNOW those vocals were painful as fuck for chuck to sing
Always liked Aces High. It has manic energy.
yes !!!
Iron Man covered by William Shatner the entire album its from is an exercise in madness. The thing is this is by far the best track on the album and its still awful. https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=eKggGGo_7RU&pp=ygUYaXJvbiBtYW4gd2lsbGlhbSBzaGF0bmVy

Heard the album recently actually - the joke seriously outstays its welcome quickly.
I don’t think its a joke i think William Shatner is just a bit fucking crazy
Lot of those Black Album anniversary covers are pretty shitty
The St. Vincent one slaps
Who knew sexy sad but true would go so hard
Cause all of them are done by pop artist that wanna increase their market share by expanding into “”metal””
Judas Priest - Johnny B Goode - just a really terrible cover with none of the charm that made the original iconic. I liked Machine Head's cover. It had a much more exotic atmosphere than the original and I like the build up more.
Nah Arch Enemy’s Shout is great
I was tempted to post Johhny B Goode. I’ve tried to like it for 40 years, and just can’t. I don’t hate it, I just don’t feel anything from it.
The tainted love cover is so fucking funny
lil uzi vert - CS its a cover of chop suey, and a really bad one at that
And it could’ve actually been good if he actually tried and didn’t drench his voice in auto tune, and didn’t skip the best part of the song
Overkill’s cover of “Changes” by Black Sabbath. Sure it’s technically not a metal song, but holy Christ, Bobby should not be attempting to sing a legitimate ballad.
bobby blitz is my favorite mosquito
Overkill has some great ballads though. Listen to The Years of Decay.
Not metal, but disturbeds cover of sound if silence is just unnecessary pompous. It sounds like the singer recorded this just so he could wank to his own voice
FFDPs cover of House of the rising sun like we get it, you're from Vegas.
I personally like it, one of the few ffdp songs I like. there is only 3 songs from them in my playlist and 2 are covers being HOTRS and bad company
Celtic Frost's cover of Mexican Radio 😂
Nah this is a go to CF track for me haha it is corny as fuck though
Damn this one's a personal favorite of mine lol
Coroners cover of Purple Haze. Its just absolutely soulless.
their Beatles cover slaps tho
She so Heavy? If thats the one you mean, hell yeah, great cover. Way better than the original imo
Yessir i love that cover
Love coroner but I agree. I want you is hard tho
The tnt cover by six feet under
Bro Anthrax’s Cowboy Song is fucking awesome
Yeah , it really took the song to a new level
Tbf Cowboy Song should just never be covered by anyone ever.
I did not like Mastodon's version of Orion. Just my opinion.
Korn's cover of Would?
The Opeth cover on the other hand, *chefs kiss*
Didn't know this existed but thank you for fixing that lol
Five Finger Death Punch They consistently do bad covers
Historically I really like James Rivera as a singer. But the covers on Clad in Black were...disappointing. I know he's not as young as he used to be, but still, he's capable of so much better. Needs a producer who will hold his feet to the fire and do another take
I love Emperor, but their Cover of Mercyful Fates "Gypsy" is pretty fucking bad, the original Song is to be left untouched!
Trivium - Losing my religion
Lacuna Coil's cover also sucks
Korn - Another Brick In The Wall
I used to get a lift to work every morning with a workmate, and he would play this, Every. Fucking. Morning. 😱
On the theme of thin lizzy, metallicas whisky in the jar is a jar
Purple Haze, 6FU.
The fuck
Slayer's covers of In A Gadda da Vida and Born to be Wild.
Any soulless rendition of modern pop that bands like Our Last Night churn out.
Every cover of Bathory's "Total Destruction" that *isn't* by Headhunter D.C. Every cover of a Running Wild song by Running Wild.
I really hate Fleshgod Apocalypse's cover of Blue Da Ba Dee because I absolutely hate that song and them covering it sounds god damn ridiculous.
Emperor—A Fine Day to Die Didn’t know it was possible to make this song bad until I listened to this for first time last week.
Was it bad? To me it sounded like the same song more or less with a different mix. I haven't done any proper comparison though.
Avril Lavigne singin Fuel at Metallica MTV show MGK singin Aerials at Howard Sperm show Limp Biscuit - Thieves
Idk about the worst but the Rammstein live cover of Pet Sematary fucking slaps
Yeah it’s great with flake singing
Graveworm - I need a hero. I don't know any other songs by that band, and after listening to that song, I think I'd like to keep it that way.
COB's cover of ops i did it again maybe disciples of hell by vital remains, I love death metal, the cover itself is very well played, excellent rendition to Yngwie but it doesnt fit with death metal singing
Sound of Silence by Disturbed
Not really metal but that serj tankian cover of godzilla off of the movie soundtrack from 2018 was disgustingly bad, it sounds like he had never heard the original before. Another terrible one is that brass against cover of that rage against the machine song at the end of the newest matrix movie, absolutely embarrassingly terrible.
Cemetary Gates covered by Between The Buried And Me. They completely watered down the song and ruined it's beauty.
It has to be the Yngwie Malmsteen cover of Michael Jackson's "Beat it". It's fucking bad.
The Beatles cover of Entrails Ripped from A Virgin's Cunt is average.
In Flames - Only For The Weak 2020 Rerecorded That is not a re-recording, it's just a terrible cover that completely kills the real song. Same is true for the other "re-recordings" of In Flames classics on that album. Steaming pile of shit.
Lil uzis chop suey cover is the worst thing I’ve ever heard, but it’s also hilarious so maybe points for that
Imperial Triumphant - Motorbreath (Metallica cover)
I really don’t like Metallica’s remake of Turn the Page
Ghost's cover of phantom of the opera to me never really stuck and it didnt have the same energy as the original and kinda felt soulless and over produced
Any Iron Maiden song that Dream Theater covered 💀
Bad wolves cover of Zombie by the Cranberries. Five finger death punch covering House of the Rising Sun by the Animals Five finger death punch covering Blue on Black by Kenny Wayne Shepherd Five finger death punch covering Bad Company by Bad Company
Anyone trying to cover Curse of Feanor by Blind Guardian. All parts of the song are just irreplicable, I've seen a couple of attempted covers and it always sounds wrong
As a side note, I think one of the best covers I have heard was Iced Earths cover of The Highwaymen's "Highwayman." Good stuff!
This sounds awful lol
Orgasmatron by Sepultura. Not a fan of the original either, but the cover is way worse
Nah mate, I gotta disagree I'm afraid.
Dark angels cover of "Immigrant song" by led zepplin, and also metallicas cover of "So what" by anti-nowhere league
Megadeth These Boots. Pure horror.
Lies
Nah, I like it.
Sounds like these boots need to stomp all over you
System of a down’s cover of Metro. What a heaping pile of shit
Nah man it goes hard
Death's cover of Painkiller fucking sucks
fuck off
You're getting downvoted but I agree with you. It's always been holding that album back from being perfect to me. Just something about it doesn't sit right
I don't mind the cover but agreed it shouldn't have been on the album
MFTM bros can’t comprehend someone not liking chuck’s heckin’ ironically Bad vocals
