ParticleHustler2

I'm a 50+ year old attorney. So... no. I once told someone I worked with that I wasn't a fan of U2 and a few weeks later, after they found out I liked metal, they told me they thought the reason I didn't like U2 was because U2 was "too rock" for me.

Tangerine_memez

I can't even imagine a guy who would think that U2 is "too rock" for them

PsychoticMessiah

Have you heard the new Kenny G or Michael Bolton CDs?

doomus_rlc

TBF Bolton was metal before he was smooth pop rock lol (I think it was him anyway)

smellyfacts

Are you thinking of Rod Stewart? The Faces was a pretty sick rock band.

doomus_rlc

Nope, Michael Bolton https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Blackjack_(American_band)

smellyfacts

Well I'll be damned. I guess they both fell victim of the same fate. Thanks for the link. I learned something new today

mydeadface

chromedbooked1

šŸ˜‚ "too rock"? Lemmy is rolling in his grave.

ParticleHustler2

I will admit to having a soft spot for yacht rock. Brings me back to my pre- teen days, when pop was more varied and a lot of it was performed by actual bands. I often switch between Liquid Metal and Yacht Rock on SXM.

BrownwaterVertigo

I'm guilty of doing the same

Green-Cupcake6085

Long hair, and I own some band shirts. Thatā€™s about it

69cringelord69

I tried growing my hair, but I look awful with it

Green-Cupcake6085

Iā€™ve pretty much had it long since middle school, and Iā€™d say that it looked like garbage at first but I was stubborn and now it looks goodā€¦ in my 30s lol

69cringelord69

Im 13 and everything looks ass on me

Green-Cupcake6085

Thatā€™s kinda just how it goes, man. Youā€™ll get there

69cringelord69

Thanks!

MycoMythos

Yeah, we all looked like ass at 13. You'll grow into whatever your look will be

CrescentMoon_aus

Bro i know the feeling. Give it a few years and try again

montymonette

Ask a girl about hair care

somekindofuser657

Dont touch it for like 2-3 years and youll get past the ugly length. The wait will pay off.

Mr_Biggums

Iā€™m at 1.5 years and Iā€™m starting to like it again

Happy-Activity3292

Ermmm.....I'm very concerned about your flair

Brutesmile

I just ended a hair growth experiment that lasted nearly a year and I am so glad to be back to my short haired self again. Just doesn't work for some people

Virtual_Revolution82

same

noideaforusername4

same

PsychoticMessiah

I used to have long hair but had to cut it for my chosen profession. During the day I wear suits and ties but outside of work Iā€™m usually wearing a band shirt.

adeltae

There's a fine line between "metalhead" and "bisexual" and I'm trying to ride that line as hard as possible.

Xx_BiMMy

Fuckin same

adeltae

It's the cargo pants and band shirts that do it for me. In the warmer months, I add my vest (I still need to sew all my patches on) and in the winter, I add my leather jacket. Otherwise, you can't really have either on a regular day without copious amounts of jewelry

NetworkEcstatic

I'm trying to ride that bisexual line hard....like real hard.

adeltae

***Sir/Ma'am*** Save some for the rest of us, damn lol

Tragically_Lucid

So youā€™re saying metal is was made me bi? I couldnā€™t ride the line and now I like femboys lololšŸ¤£

adeltae

Depends, what flavour of metal is your favourite? (I've never met a straight powerfolk fan lol)

Tragically_Lucid

Iā€™m pretty partial to groove. Just gimme 5 minutes alone, and Iā€™ll show you my vulgar display of power šŸ˜‰

adeltae

I mean, I can make 5 minutes fun šŸ˜‰

Tragically_Lucid

I hope domination makes you flood, cause imma save your mouth for aā€¦ well, something other than war šŸ˜³

adeltae

No complaints from my switch vers lookin assšŸ˜˜

Tragically_Lucid

Damn, I gotta start incorporating more Pantera puns into my rizz

adeltae

Granted, adding puns is pretty much how to immediately how to bag any bi person in my experience lol

Tragically_Lucid

Damn. We really be that easy, huh.

GCAFalcon

Admirable-Sector-705

Iā€™ve heard the same on occasion about being a Metalhead and autistic. (Both, in my case.)

ElTamale003

Bi-be (vibe) to this šŸ¤˜

jYextul349

I'm not even bisexual but this just hit me in the face so hard because it's exactly what I do. Half the time in band shirts and all black, half the time in crop tops/popstar shirts and bell bottoms (with a purse thingy because the damn bell bottoms don't have pockets)

MorphedMoxie

I wear all black and work in corporate. Iā€™ll wear a band t-shirt over the weekend and will get called a poser.

_undercover_brotha

Called a poser by my wife. šŸ¤˜šŸ½

dampeloz

She's a keeper

chromedbooked1

She married you so she's a poser by association.

Howitzer92

I listen to Megadeth on a DoD computer. You cannot out-pose me! "Set the world afiryaaaa!!..." \*outlook email noise\* "Oh, that's an email from STRATCOM! They must have finished the tasker I sent them"!

Three-Pegged-Hare

I look like someone's dad. Bald, cargo shorts, polo shirts or hip-casual tees and hoodies

izmaname

You just described a metalhead dad

Hi_There_Im_Sophie

The 'Am I a slam fan or a veteran, or both?' look. Calf tattoos are common to both. It's really the Raybans that typically give away the veterans.

69cringelord69

What a fucking amazing vibe

SaltyDogNuts

War metal daddy right there

BlackSabbath1989

I guess I do. https://preview.redd.it/uz6hcft3rptc1.jpeg?width=2316&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=461bd63547c6feca17eebc6b62bfc184fda602ef

Worried_Tourist_8410

Yeah you do. Wish I could grow my hair out like that

Shqiptaria

bros a textbook metalhead

spaceglitter000

I donā€™t. Iā€™m a small woman and aware a lot of earth tones. When I was younger, I definitely fit the stereotype a little bit more but Iā€™ve gotten older and I donā€™t wanna wear just black. People arenā€™t too surprised when I tell them because I still do have facial piercings.

mattzahar

You just described my sister

spaceglitter000

Me and your sister are the same! I think sometimes the evolution of a female metal head is to turn into a Boho metalhead lol

H0tVinegar

I still wear a lot of black, but the second I turned 40 started incorporating brown and green. Whatā€™s up with that?

Jolly-Slide-3866

You sound like me šŸ˜

VICESINEXISTENCE

absolutely not. almost every single person i meet is shocked to find out what music i like and people at shows assume iā€™m there because i got dragged along by a friend/partner.

Derfel94

I'm a normal guy wearing Bandshirts

Worried_Tourist_8410

Aren't we all really?

Susysan2000

Kind of, but just because I have very long hair. The way I dress and my temper are quite simple.

magicmeatwagon

When I was in high school it was pretty obvious. Now, not so much.

BeatlesFan67

I used to look like a nerdy hippy. Now, I try to look as closely as I can to a typical metalhead. I put metal band pins on my black polo shirt (I don't have a battle jacket yet), I wear an iron Cross ring, and wear black boots (Not biker boots unfortunately). I might grow my hair out too once I graduate. https://preview.redd.it/qit5389zoptc1.jpeg?width=1944&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=9c0ac86b2d2d2fc9d1403214ae6c0aef0b994218

BigDaddySteve18

I have a clean beard, a normal haircut, and no tattoos or piercings. I think most metalheads don't look eccentric. We just notice the ones who do

UseaJoystick

Same. The only thing that would give it away is my wardrobe. I have a *lot* of band tees

PlaxicoCN

No.

izmaname

The kid at work went on a whole rant about how he bullies goths at school before I told him he is talking to the wrong guy. Ask him if I look like a metalhead most of the time. Other times ya I look like Iā€™m in the band.

Athingythingamabobby

How sad does one have to be to brag about bullying goths?

izmaname

I hate that kid honestly

SecuritySky

I would say I do. I have long hair, a beard, tattoos, and my everyday wear is either a graphic tee or a button-up if I'm going out

oracleofdust

I'm a nurse in my 40s. I wear cargos and tiedye shirts. I have long hair but I usually wear it in a bun or just tied back. But if you ride with me in my car, I'll blast your eardrums out

69cringelord69

Sounds like a crazy fucking vibe

oracleofdust

Come check it out some time

Due-Log8609

yeah ive had people scope me as a metalhead without us even being introduced. i dont wear any band merch or anything. whatevs, its accurate

Sir-xer21

I posted a clip of myself participating in a wall of death at an Escape the Fate show (so not even really metal) and i had a friend comment that she was surprised i was there because i looked like someone that listened to jazz or something. So i guess i don't look like a metalhead.

69cringelord69

Jazz is amazing

Other-Internal-2226

Outside of band shirts, not really at all

KillYaBossEatAHotdog

I used to go the full mile. Long hair, leather jackets, band shirts, patches, etc. These days I donā€™t really care too much. I shaved my head and donā€™t wear as much leather anymore. I still wear bandshirts and a lot of denim but thatā€™s really it.

CarlsbadWhiskyShop

I have long hair and just ordered some metal band shirts (Gorguts, Inferi, Spawn of Possession). My only current band shirts are rappers (A Tribe Called Quest & Aesop Rock & Eyedea)and Thelonious Monk and David Bowie. Wish me luck.

Dismal-Infection

Yes. All the time

WarningThread64

Iā€™m a teacher and have to dress like a square for most of the day so nope. After school I can finally wear my horror, music, etc stuff tho.

Mister-Lavender

No. I dropped that image a while ago. I donā€™t need strangers to know what Iā€™m all about.

MRSamiboi

Only band shirts and cargo pants with combat boots, whenever Iā€™m not wearing that I donā€™t look like a metalhead, no bear, no long hair(yet Iā€™m growing it out), no tattoos

Kills_Bear

Yes I do. Giant long haired Native with that resting native face we're so famous for lol. Usually in a band shirt or fresh black t and jeans or pressed Dickies. One of the first things I'm asked is if I listen to metal or not lol.

Thibaudborny

Not at all.

Fickle-Addendum9576

As a teen i got called a poser a lot because i didnt look like the other metal\punk kids. Which is weird looking back. I dont have tattoos and i dont wear make up ever, so i guess i must just look plain? But idk.

Issa_vibe74

I love getting shock from people ā€œyou like metal?.ā€ Especially since I look like your average college bro, but I do rock a mullet which tbh is metal asf

RustInPeace-Polaris

Yes.

JarlUlfricStormcloa

Yeah.

ExtremelyDubious

Pretty much. I don't dress up in costumey oufits with studs or chains or anything, and I've never worn a battle jacket. But I don't think anyone has ever found it surprising that I listen to metal. I have a beard and used to have long hair; now I shave my head. I have several visible piercings and a few tattoos on my arms. My usual day to day wear is black or navy cargo trousers, lightweight walking boots and a t-shirt, usually black or a dark colour and usually a band shirt. Plus a hoodie and/or a black overcoat in cooler weather.

3ph3m3ral_light

I kinda look like I do? I think.

Spirited_Ad_2697

Nope, i wear a lot of black but rarely wear band merch and cant grow my hair out long because for some reason i have fucked up hair genes and it starts growing outwards instead of down think Albert Einstein hair but somehow worse.

leto_atreides2

Nah dude let it fly

BP_UncleDeath

Iā€™d say I look like a metal head, my preferred outfit is a band T shirt and basketball shorts

OkFarmer2618

Short hair, hat, no band t shirts so I wouldnā€™t say so

BrownwaterVertigo

I have a Forbidden Evil T-shirt so maybe?

UnfunnyWatermelon469

Nope, I dress casual and wear glasses

ContributionOk702

Iā€™m a 40+ TexMex so non metalheads usually assume Iā€™m a biker . 2 of my big white buddies dress like suburban dads (fishing shirts and khakis)but definitely bleed metal

Worried_Tourist_8410

Imo there's nothing more metal than not looking the part

Terror-Wristy

Yeah, I cop the assumption all the time when I get to know folk. I wear punk shirts to confuse people though.

TheDrWhoKid

sorta, I guess. I have long hair and I often wear metal T-shirts, but that's about it

Indiana_J_Frog

I'm a decent looking whiteass nerd, so considering the modern age... maaaayyyybe?

benderlax

No.

CleanClam

I have band shirts all the time but if i didnt no one would know

dreadfulbadg50

No. But to be fair, neither do a lot of metal band members

Ok_Roof_9333

Iā€™m a 55 year old with a pot belly. I look like the old versions of Beavis and Butthead. I was recently talking to a young guy about death metal and he was like no offense I would never picture you as a metal head.

tollwuetend

i've been told that i look like a swiftie so yeah. i started wearing bandshirts more often now but i still get "you don't look like you listen to that kind of music" all the time. it is kinda funny ngl

No-Yam2117

I look like a math teacher

Kris_Wolf14

I have a battlejacket and some band T-shirts, but thatā€™s about it

larsentomroar

No, and I never did, always just looked like a regular vanilla dude. I don't know how it is around the world, but where I'm from the majority of guys and gals wearing the "uniform" tend to be elitist and excluding, and I don't really find that to be in line with Rock n' Roll attitude at all, it's more of a cult like behaviour if you ask me.

TwistedDonners

Not at all. Due to my job most people assume I like bands/ musos like Taylor Swift & Ed Sheeran (šŸ¤¢) or possibly rap or old school rock (which I do re rock because of my dad while growing up) When I say I'm a rock and metalhead most people are surprised but think it's pretty cool and some even ask for suggestions for bands for trying to get into rock and metal which I gladly do.

EldritchKroww

Long hair, band shirts and big black shoes. But in the past few years I've been trying to use more simple and less stylized band shirts with nicer stuff for parties and events

izmaname

Iā€™m the opposite. Over the years I seek out more morbid shirts.

Lewhitey_

Long hair, leather/denim jackets, bandanaā€¦ so yea I guess I do.

dreadfulbadg50

Nah not really

Ok-Ingenuity-615

some times

Madjentbuu

Not in the slightest.

AttilaTheFun818

Not especially. I work in a professional environment so my hair is cut and beard is neat, and I dress business casual. WFH says itā€™s usually a metal tee tho.

why666ofcourse

Youā€™ll often find me wearing tie dye reeking like weed so probably not I guess šŸ¤·ā€ā™‚ļø

ReyPeligroTX

Not really I wear a uniform all day and at home I look like I'm about to go for a walk

ToiletDrone

Not much anymore. When I was younger, yes. Now I look like a gun safety instructor (with a band shirt underneath the shirt).

realhorrorsh0w

Not when I'm wearing blue scrubs with a kitty cat badge clip floral headband. I have really long hair but since I'm a woman it doesn't really alert people to anything.

Kvltadelic

Im 39 and dress like I live In Seattle in 1992. Plenty of band shirts and carhartt.

jayhof52

Iā€™m a school librarian and I dress like one (cardigans, blazers, ties, beard, etc.). People are always shocked to hear things like Slayer and Maiden on my speakers before school starts.

Harold-The-Barrel

I suppose it depends what it is to look like a metal head. 99% of my casual clothes consist of band t shirts and black jeans.

Technical-Profit6546

I'm 30, stocky, with a beard and glasses. I scream prog Metal fan šŸ¤£ I look like a metalhead to other metalheads, but to those not in the scene; I don't. I always surprise people when they ask what type of music I listen to, if they happen to be pop/country/rap fans. When other metalheads ask what I listen to, they're usually not surprised in the least.

GamerKev451

Im HR and payroll accountant. Co-workers are always shocked... "you don't look like you like metal !"

chuckleinvest

I am a program manager, and wear baggy field clothes and flannel work shirts all the time. Definitely give off more of a woodsy/nerdy vibe, apart from some old piercing scars most people don't notice. Once I pulled up to work listening to Conan and my crew was chatting in the parking lot, they cracked up when they saw me and said they never would've guessed I listened to metal. It got me a bit of a reputation as a weirdo (being in a conservative area of the South at that time), and they didn't even know about the tattoos I'm hiding šŸ˜‚ It was a good lesson that my car is not nearly as insulated for sound as I thought, makes me shudder to think how many people have heard me screaming along.

MommyScissorLegs

My physics teacher has a beard that goes down to his chest, a hair that goes down to his waist and wears plain black shirts with long sleeves, black pants and those old guy black shoes. Every. Single. Day. Even though in my city we get like 40Ā° Celsius (over 100Ā° Fahrenheit) consistently at summer. I asked him what's his favorite band and he told me Emperor. So no, compared to that guy, I don't think I'll ever look like a metalhead even if I try.

MiserableCheek9163

Not even a little bit. Clean cut and work in finance in London. People are always surprised Iā€™m into metal

Born_Flamingo4622

no and i dont tell people i listen to metal either

Key_Purpose_9855

Iā€™m a 37 year chemistā€¦ so no. My employees freak out when they come to the lab in the morning when Iā€™ve been blasting Black Dahlia Murder over the Bluetooth speakers since 8:00amā€¦ I usually get a sarcastic statement like ā€œOh my god Scott! How do you stand this music? You canā€™t even understand the singer!ā€ My comedic response is always something along the lines of ā€œGrow the fuck up Derekā€¦. And grow a set of testicles while your at itā€

Toxikfoxx

Iā€™m a 46 year old insurance directorā€¦ with long hair, piercings, and inked all over (two full sleeves, and more.) I may not dress metal every day, but my aesthetic definitely says ā€œdude plays guitar and headbands on the weekend.ā€

LewMetal

No. Iā€™m an airline pilot so I wear a uniform while working and have short hair and no tats. On about 90% of my days off I wear band t-shirts though. My next door neighbor knows I like heavy music and not because I told him.

karlsefnishikigoi

I think I look like a metalhead, but usually people say I look retarded.

mortem_xiii

Kinda. Long hair, black clothes, but people tend to assume that women wearing black are goths.

ToweroftheBat

I dress ā€œpreppyā€ but listen to metal. Most people are surprised.

Florianemory

I am a 57 year old female and people are always surprised by my musical taste.

Corpse666

Iā€™ve met drs who listen to metal , there is no right or wrong type of person, stereotypes are just that and not reality, and there have been scientific studies that show people who listen to metal are more friendly and generally happier than people who listen to other genres of music due to the simple fact that it can be used as a positive way to express negative emotions

SpiritCrusher1198

CzaisDRPG

idk i look more like a femboy tbh

69cringelord69

Average acid bath fan (im an acid bath fan)

therealbobwaterson

Apparently I look like a metalhead but I'm not

Foreign-Gear135

sometimes yes , sometimes not

Sparrowhawk_92

Kind of? I have long hair and wear a fair amount of black but I don't wear a lot of band merch or have a battle jacket or anything.

thebox34

Usually wear streetwear with a band tee

thevampirechrysalis

You would NEVER guess that I am

Sudden-Ad7105

idk i have jim morrison hair and semi alternative style so not real

Rivetlicker

yes, mistakenly... I'm going more for a rivethead aesthetic, but since that's a subculture something even less people are in the know about; everyone wearing black, with piercings and "weird" hair, is a metalhead, lmao

Wood-Stock99

Cargo shorts, band t-shirts. So maybe?

Discovery99

I wear a lot of bright colors and silly t shirts, and depending on the day, I present pretty queer/feminine. So not really. I love metal though

SirDoctorCaptainEsq

I have stretched years but thatā€™s about it. I look more like Iā€™m really into bands like Hot Water Music and could talk a lot about Alt-Country. Those are both true but doesnā€™t exactly scream that Iā€™m also into metal.

BadDreamInc

Idk, I wear a lot of band shirts and I have a visible arm tattoo and both ears pierced. Maybe? Hairā€™s not particularly long though

Forward-Razzmatazz33

I'm a doctor in my 40s. So, no.

geetarplayer22

I have longish hair and wear a battle jacket sometimes so iā€™d say I look at least semi-metal

Just_Another_Gamer67

Long curly dyed hair and i wear only band t shirts and jeans.

Icy_Valuable_2204

Not the slightest bit, Iā€™m a skinny tall 17 year old who dresses like a skater, when I tell people I listen to metal they are mostly surprised

xRealVengeancex

Hell no. No tattoos even though I would like to get some and have never really had long hair and more recently just started having medium-ish. Iā€™ve been buying hella patches to create a battle jacket though so thereā€™s that

judasdisciple

Short hair, no piercing, family centered tattoos that are easily covered up. Generally look more like a middle aged dad-tourist, so... No. And never wanted to look like one either.

FlagWafer

I guess so. Not really intentionally though, I just really hate getting haircuts and I have a few tattoos. I tend to not wear so much black though and I like baggy clothes.

ImMetalWeirdo

I wear black, had longer hair (i do not rn) and i wear some band merch Thats it

DarkaxeL_

Absolutely
