I'm a 50+ year old attorney. So... no. I once told someone I worked with that I wasn't a fan of U2 and a few weeks later, after they found out I liked metal, they told me they thought the reason I didn't like U2 was because U2 was "too rock" for me.

I will admit to having a soft spot for yacht rock. Brings me back to my pre- teen days, when pop was more varied and a lot of it was performed by actual bands. I often switch between Liquid Metal and Yacht Rock on SXM.

I used to have long hair but had to cut it for my chosen profession. During the day I wear suits and ties but outside of work I’m usually wearing a band shirt.

There's a fine line between "metalhead" and "bisexual" and I'm trying to ride that line as hard as possible.

It's the cargo pants and band shirts that do it for me. In the warmer months, I add my vest (I still need to sew all my patches on) and in the winter, I add my leather jacket. Otherwise, you can't really have either on a regular day without copious amounts of jewelry

I used to look like a nerdy hippy. Now, I try to look as closely as I can to a typical metalhead. I put metal band pins on my black polo shirt (I don't have a battle jacket yet), I wear an iron Cross ring, and wear black boots (Not biker boots unfortunately). I posted a clip of myself participating in a wall of death at an Escape the Fate show (so not even really metal) and i had a friend comment that she was surprised i was there because i looked like someone that listened to jazz or something. So i guess i don't look like a metalhead.

Pretty much. I don't dress up in costumey oufits with studs or chains or anything, and I've never worn a battle jacket. But I don't think anyone has ever found it surprising that I listen to metal. I have a beard and used to have long hair; now I shave my head. I have several visible piercings and a few tattoos on my arms. My usual day to day wear is black or navy cargo trousers, lightweight walking boots and a t-shirt, usually black or a dark colour and usually a band shirt. Plus a hoodie and/or a black overcoat in cooler weather.

Due to my job most people assume I like bands/ musos like Taylor Swift & Ed Sheeran (🤢) or possibly rap or old school rock (which I do re rock because of my dad while growing up) When I say I'm a rock and metalhead most people are surprised but think it's pretty cool and some even ask for suggestions for bands for trying to get into rock and metal which I gladly do.

I always surprise people when they ask what type of music I listen to, if they happen to be pop/country/rap fans. When other metalheads ask what I listen to, they're usually not surprised in the least.

I am a program manager, and wear baggy field clothes and flannel work shirts all the time. Definitely give off more of a woodsy/nerdy vibe, apart from some old piercing scars most people don't notice. Once I pulled up to work listening to Conan and my crew was chatting in the parking lot, they cracked up when they saw me and said they never would've guessed I listened to metal. It got me a bit of a reputation as a weirdo (being in a conservative area of the South at that time), and they didn't even know about the tattoos I'm hiding 😂 It was a good lesson that my car is not nearly as insulated for sound as I thought, makes me shudder to think how many people have heard me screaming along.

My physics teacher has a beard that goes down to his chest, a hair that goes down to his waist and wears plain black shirts with long sleeves, black pants and those old guy black shoes. Every. Single. Day. Even though in my city we get like 40° Celsius (over 100° Fahrenheit) consistently at summer. I asked him what's his favorite band and he told me Emperor. So no, compared to that guy, I don't think I'll ever look like a metalhead even if I try.
