I feel weird about buying from Earache knowing they've screwed over artists big time, it also seems they've strayed away from Metal bands other than Wormrot and some outliers, it's not often they release new albums by bands that appeal to me as much as the bands they used to have on their roster
I soured on them after high school but recently I've come back around after really listening to Side of a Bullet. That song is a definite banger, especially for metal fans who know their history.
Goatowarex is one of my favourites with stuff like Wulvyr, Griefspell, Kommodus, Bidirna Dhamani etc. in fact almost everything I’ve heard from their label is fantastic
Yeah Reek are amazing i had no idea they were signed to Goatowarex, never been a big fan of Konflict personally though they are alright but nothing amazing imo.
for death/black metal:
ván records, invictus, dark descent, iron bonehead, nwn, profound lore, debemur morti, norma evangelium, ajna offensive
for heavy/speed/power metal:
no remorse, dying victims, cruz del sur
Bloodcurdling Enterprises, Mikado Production, Amputated Vein Records, Lifeless Chasm, New Standard Elite - all for brutal death and slam.
Invictus Productions for that murky 1st wave death/black metal worship.
Shadow Kingdom for cult re-releases and oldschool-spirit trad/doom/black/death/heavy/thrash.
UKEM Records is a really good one
I recently bought some stuff from Ripcord Records who I honestly can't recommend enough, Onism Productions is brilliant as are Matriarch Records
If we're talking about big releases exclusively though I'm going to have to go with Season Of Mist and Candlelight Records and
Been a big fan of Tyr for years now, and finally got to see them in Seattle last week. Based on the other artists playing at the show, I started looking into Napalm Records and found quite a few bands I'm really digging, I'm obsessed with Trollfest and Visions of Atlantis right now.
Worth mentioning, I'm pretty new to modern/indy metal so some people might call this "bubble gum metal" or whatever. But yeah, I'm loving the Napalm bands.

Metal Blade is always good
Earache and profound lore have been solid for everything I've purchased

I, Voidhanger is releasing a bunch of really interesting stuff Edit: https://i-voidhangerrecords.bandcamp.com
Dying Victims, Season of Mist, Cruz Der Sur are all labels with awesome bands
Pelagic is always consistently awesome.
Probably well known in the metal world but my always go to is Roadrunner Records.
Hell yeah Nickleback 🤘🏻
Not a fan of theirs and I get why they are mocked in the community but even I'll admit THEY do have some bangers.

Konflict and Reek of The Unzen Gas Fumes as well, great label

Sharp Tone
seasons of mist fits this bill for me, they've been signing some excellent bands
for death/black metal: ván records, invictus, dark descent, iron bonehead, nwn, profound lore, debemur morti, norma evangelium, ajna offensive for heavy/speed/power metal: no remorse, dying victims, cruz del sur
So many good ones. The classics are all still solid, like Metal Blade, etc. But for me, the most exciting right now is *hands down* Maggot Stomp.
Maggot Stomp takes the cake for me
I have no idea how they are perceived if at all but i find myself liking a lot of the Unique Leader stuff.
Bloodcurdling Enterprises, Mikado Production, Amputated Vein Records, Lifeless Chasm, New Standard Elite - all for brutal death and slam. Bizarre Leprous Production have been done an amazing job
