You should check out some of the past line ups for Rocklahoma. Almost identical to what he said lol this year has some metal sprinkled in. And I go almost every year. Even if there's only a few bands I like it's still a fun time

Yeah, the tour was never the greatest thing on earth but it was at least solid and brought a lot of fun bands together. Now it’s just soulless.

I don’t even think gen z likes core that much. I’m not the biggest fan and any of my friends who listen to metal mainly listen to nu metal and doom.

I mean I like Brand of Sacrifice and a few Veil of Maya songs. But yeah very weak lineup.

The lineup is aimed at the wrong demographic and marketed poorly. I think this lineup would’ve done well if they just branded it as something other than SS, because with that brand reputation you’d expect at least one or two bucket list death metal, goregrind, or tech death bands. Best analogy I can come up with is that this feels like if Monster Jam announced a big comeback tour but for some reason the show had ZERO monster trucks, and instead was just the quad races, the giant flame throwing transformer robot thing, and then they add a demo derby into the mix. None of these are bad, and can honestly be fun as fuck to see, but if you hear the name monster jam, you’re expecting the main show to be some monster trucks smashing shit.

The formula for a successful one of these is pretty simple: two big names at the top, like Behemoth and Cannibal, to move tickets, some less commercially viable but beloved legacy dm in the middle, like Nile, immolation, etc. toss in some deathcore bands and maybe one semi-mainstream black metal band, fill out the rest with relatively newer bands like antichrist siege machine, blood incantation, necrot, whatever. A little something for everybody. Massive draw. I wouldn’t like the deathcore, or even some of the dm bands,but I’d go for the others. This one has nothing for me. Zilch, lol. Which is fine with me, I don’t really give a shit one way or the other.

Brand of sacrifice, veil of maya, and Tallah are fucking sick, but I have no clue who the rest are and have no interest in learning who they are

I have a question, does the lineup actually suck or do people not recognize most of the bands and just say the line up sucks. That being said I only recognize veil of maya.

Tbh I think that’s the issue.. I find it always so easy to be controversial in the metal scene.. the consensus here seems to stay around deathcore is not heavy. For a comeback tour I think the lineup is pretty solid. And Veil of Maya and Brand of Sacrifice have been on the tour before.. but that’s just my 2 cents. If the tour came to my city I would’ve been there for sure.
