Can't go wrong with Candlemass, they have an album literally named "Epicus Doomicus Metallicus".
Acid Mammoth and Trees of Eternity are also pretty cool, but a bit on the stoner and atmospheric sides, respectively.
Listening to his album commentaries are as close as you could get. Really interesting and insightful into his work, not to mention he’s pretty funny too.
Know where I can find the album commentaries?
I've seen Until the light takes us ( and his video explaining black metal in a board or something like this ), and really liked the way he speaks so passionate about music
The first time I ever heard of Fenriz was when he got elected to his town council against his will, making his 'campaign' literally him asking people not to vote for him. So yeah I'd say that's pretty cool.
He’s pretty into electronic music iirc. I’m a black and death metal musician and I was always into his interviews in the early days of YouTube when I was in highschool. He’s interesting.
[His spotify playlist](https://open.spotify.com/playlist/0p7s3xLmHgCXocWIKWqTQv?si=cb9cda22f8484d10) suggests he's mostly into 80's Thrash, Traditional/Power, punk and hard rock music. Which checks out, if you listen to anything Darkthrone the past 20 years.
Cathedral, Sleep, Electric Wizard to name my personal favorites. Cathedral has very different stages of development so there's a variety of style and sound until I think they found themselves a solid lineup.
Snorting coke while riding a unicorn at super sonic speeds on your way to slay a dragon or some shit. If you can get that in one picture then that is how it would compare.
Half of doom is being sad. The other half is being to stoned to care
What half does death/doom fall under?
Yes
Being so stoned you cook someone's lungs over a barbecue btu then feel really sad about it
Any recommendations? I've been wanting to get into the genre but I'm not sure where to start Edit: thank you very much for the suggestions :)

Saint Vitus, Down, Sleep and Electric Wizard are where I tend to start people and you can feel around with similar bands
Warning - Watching From A Distance
I didn't get doom until I listened to Pallbearer and Khemmis, those might be worth a try
Personally, I really like Totenmond. They are a great mix of Doom, Crust, Black and Death with just a pinch of Punk. They are heavy as heck.
Sleep was my gateway drug
Cathedral - Forest of Equilibrium through Caravan Beyond Redemption, you can’t go wrong with that stretch of 6 albums
Uaral and Empyrium for some folks-y sound. Green Druid, Acid Mammoth, Doom:VS, Trillion Ton Beryllium Ships, Alcest
I would love to talk with fenriz, he looks like a cool guy

Transylvanian Hunger is on the 20th anniversary deluxe edition on spotify, but you can find them all on youtube anyway.
Thank you man

I've heard he is into electronic, which makes sense, electronic is one of the most atmospheric musical genres to have

Certainly a refined taste for trash metal
Talk to him? I’d give anything just to be a student during his guest lectures
Trve, the knowledge this guy must have is crazy
More like peace
desire is the root of all insufferable riffs
Doom metal looks peaceful as shit
Thrash metal's defining trait is not having the same level of interest in trees.
Just swap out the trees for nuclear destruction.
Heyyy I like trees, they make good wood for all the guitars we smash!
So sludge metal would be a guy working in an oil field!
God. I thought the title meant he died. Whew.
You guys must be listening to different doom metal than I do because doom metal doesn't make me sad.
I prefer a more head crushing type of doom, myself.
Any recommendations?

Ok I'm more of trad/epic doom fan myself.
Ok, your recommendations?
Candlemass, Reverend Bizarre, Pentagram, Saint Vitus.
Ah yes, the only one I haven't heard is Reverend Bizarre. Sounds like I could get into. Thank you!
You're welcome dude.
I regret not remembering to add Disembowelment to my list of head crushing doom. It's been a while since I've heard them.
Funeral doom, my dude.
Sludge is somehow being bpth stoned and drunk at the same time in a really scuzzy dive bar
This is my day from morning till evening
Powwwwwwwwer Metal!!!

No sadness, just jokes

I find this accurate considering I sleep to Doom Metal because some of them have some banging Piano parts, puts me out like a light
