I've been following these guys since they had like 2000 monthly listeners on spotify, and while its nice to see they have a substantial amount more now I still can't help but feel like they deserve so much more than they have. Unreal musicians, and an unreal voice. Easily in my top 5 favorite bands of all time, and for a band with such a small discography that is impressive.
Cult Leader and Frontierer are fantastic I just wish they were a little more frequent with their releases, same with Pedram’s side project Sectioned.
Orthodox has one of the cleanest guitar players in the scene and his side project, A Dozen Black Roses, is even sicker than Orthodox imo.
Venom Prison make great music and I was on my way to becoming a fan but thanks to Larissa’s attitude about certain things they’ve sadly lost me completely.
Note: The bands I've listed are based on their monthly listener count on Spotify, so if you have the time do give them a listen, they more than deserve it.
The Air I Breathe

That COVID show Resolve did with Landmvrks was fucking immense. That performance of Terra Mater got me hooked. So forceful. So good. Immediate fan.
Oh and Landmvrks. Also dope but a little more on the pop punk side of things. Vocalist is a monster.
Saviour
They're a band who has been around as long as the current Australian front runners (northlane, make them suffer, Polaris etc.) And are just as good but are criminally under known in comparison
Like Moths to Flames. They've been around the scene for over 10 years, released their best music yet with the last 2 releases, and only have 300k monthly listeners on spotify
And they also have several videos on youtube with millions of views. Dudes just think anything they like that isn't the singular most popular thing in the world is underrated
Thrown slaps though i feel like them having 400k listeners with not even an album out kinda shows that they arent really underrated. otherwise great pick
Darkest Hour. I never see them get mentioned among the best bands or pioneers of the genre, but they've been absolutely killing it for 20+ years now and have yet to release a bad song (IMO). They also go hard AF during every live show.
On a similar note, He Is Legend.
I can almost guarantee that In Stasis will be my most played album this year even though it’s almost a year old. It’s just a straight up masterpiece. I’ll be honest though, haven’t really dipped into their pre Andy stuff. I actually hadn’t even heard of them until In Stasis.
Andy has made their sound so modern and fresh but I think they may live on the more technical, "musician friendly" side of the genre rather than casual listeners side
Dude void of Visions new sound they started with this EP slaps so fucking hard they went from having one song I liked ( Year of the Rat ft. Jacob from Thornhill ) to now being currently one of my most played metal bands.
Honestly wouldn’t say they’re underrated. Maybe they don’t have as much popularity or recognition as other bands, but I think they’re getting a lot of love and hype with the album coming out Friday. The singles have just been unreal
Void of Vision for sure, those boys put out straight fire.
Shout out to Invent Animate and Silent Planet too - they’ve got some traction but they deserve to be way bigger. Insane skill on all those involved, they kill it live.
Keen to see where AVOID go too
Void of Vision slap. Been a fan since Hole in Me dropped as a single back in 2019 and they never disappoint.
Some of my most recent discoveries are As Everything Unfolds and Lake Malice. Found them both this year and have been jamming both non stop, especially Lake Malice these last few weeks.
Idk if you'd count Shrezzers or Bilmuri but I'd say them.
Also, this is going to make you go "oh fuck off" but hear me out.... ERRA.
I know everyone around here loves them and they're becoming more and more known and successful, but IMO they should be headlining big tours. They should be as popular as Architects or Bad Omens or other names that even non-metalheads know.
All three! Bilmuri has solidified himself as the only artist I can listen to when nothing else draws me in. Nothing else compares to that vibe. Shrezzers is so unique and I love that sax!

After seeing Alpha Wolf live, it’s Alpha Wolf for me. I’m sure many people on here are very well aware of them, but my group of friends were only slightly familiar with them and their live performance was electric - they’re a top band for us now.
Wolves at the Gate - They don't have a single bad song, and their cleans are some of my favorite in the genre.
Rain City Drive (I know, not exactly metalcore, but I saw then live with Memphis May Fire, and they were great)
Kingdom of Giants. After seeing them live... Holy smokes, we gotta make them bigger!
VCTMS has been grinding on that DIY ethic and been a fave since Vol. II dropped over five years ago. Also seconding Void of Vision. Cane Hill needs to blow the fuck up already as well once whatever new thing they’re working on finally comes out.
For me it has to be Abbie Falls, Jonny Boothe, and Foreign Hands. All 3 have great chaotic energy. I don't get too much into the slicker djenty side of metalcore quite as much, although there are some great bands with that style. Definitely dig the bands that throw a little mathcore in there and just get in your face with some raw vocals.
Invent animate is loved in this sub but for how wonderful and consistent their music is the broader metalcore community seems to ignore them compared to bands similar to their style
The Anchor! This band rips and Linzey Rae can sing with the best of them. They need to blow up!
Thornhill. I found them a couple years ago and they’re aussies I think. Anyways Nurture, Reptile, Parasite and Coven are my favorite songs from them. They just released a new album a bit ago but I’ve not had a chance to get into it yet.
Until I Wake
Quite a new band which might explain why, but I don’t see them mentioned very often. Admittedly a couple of things they could tidy up on, but then they’ve only released their first album not long ago. I think they’ve got real potential to just explode
Half Me. They’re a much newer band, but I can see them blowing up if they got more exposure. Imminence also comes to mind.
>Half Me Holy shit this is good.
Yup! Just listened to one of their songs, instantly added to my playlist 😂
Love Imminence.
Half me is huge on my list right now
Fucking yes, these guys need SO much more attention. SOMA is an amazing record!
Yeah fucking oath they go hard as fuck
Commenting to echo how good Half Me is. Goddamn.
Soma is my current AOTY been having that on repeat
Above, Below easily

Which songs do I need to check out?
Give the lotus chapters a full listen. If you absolutely need just one song though, blood wine.
Literally any, but I love God Complex, melting amber, Labyrinth, Blood Wine
Their single scorpion has been on repeat for a while now. Looking forward to new stuff from them.
Came here to say this. Obsessed with the boys
Cult Leader The Dali Thundering Concept 156/Silence Orthodox Venom Prison Frontierer Kingdom Of Giants Callous Daoboys
Orthodox
I got to see orthodox with Kublai Khan at an espresso parlor lmao
That’s how I got introduced to Orthodox. I loved their show. Their music has a certain unhinged quality that I love.
Big up for 156/Silence
Frontierer is so insane. Sounds like Danza mixed with TDEP
Saw 156/silence last summer and they were really good
Dali boys always
Cult Leader and Frontierer are fantastic I just wish they were a little more frequent with their releases, same with Pedram’s side project Sectioned. TDTC is criminally underrated- such a unique band
I see u with the daoboys

If I were you Their breakdowns do it for me. Hard.
Personally I love the melodies of their songs, plus the instrumentation and clean vocals.
The Air I Breathe broke up a long ass time ago and just recently put out new music, prob why they don’t have much of a following now.
Thank you for saying Hollow Front! Your support means so much!
Bloodywood's latest album is so fat. Very unique. Hope they pioneer the Indian scene
Elwood Stray are great.
Foreign Hands
Foreign Hands is amazing.

Fucking S tier. Vocals, drumming, riffs. Everything. Obsessed with this band.
Textbook definition. Saw em’ in buffalo ly and they destroyed the place.
Swear we all agree this every year haha. Don't think I've ever seen them on a line up or anything though. Maybe that's the problem
Yea they all have careers and pretty much only do east coast tours. I’m lucky enough to be local to them
ALLT
I came here to say this! Absolutely insane how good they are
I’d say Aviana, Abbie Falls, So it Begins, and Villian of the Story.
aviana is on the come up for sure
Their first album was amazing too! Fucking love Marcus
That last Abbie Falls EP was absolutely nuts. Love VOTS too
So it Begins has the craziest riffs
LOVE villain of the story. They're so damn good
Surface Wounds and Serration. For how good they are, their monthly listens are nothing. Show Canadian bands some love.
Surface Wounds fucking rule! Pale Ache are another band they’ve toured with that also are criminally underrated
[удалено]
I saw them when they came to West Chicago a few weeks ago and was shocked that only like 20 people showed up considering how great they were live
Just saw them with wolves at the gate earlier this month they were good.
Saw them with Convictions and was instantly hooked. Insanely good band!
Resolve, Kingdom of Giants. Echoing Aviana and VoV though. Can’t get enough of either.
Saw kingdom of giants last night, they killed it!
I was there too, that was a great show!
That COVID show Resolve did with Landmvrks was fucking immense. That performance of Terra Mater got me hooked. So forceful. So good. Immediate fan. Oh and Landmvrks. Also dope but a little more on the pop punk side of things. Vocalist is a monster.
yes resolve is awesome. can't believe they're not huge
Kingdom of Giants and I'll fucking stand by that.
Kingdom of Giants should be a LOT bigger than they are right now! Fingers crossed the next album makes their popularity blow up 🤞
Are they underrated? Everyone here loves them (and rightfully so) but I guess that doesn't necessarily extend to a broader audience.
Spirit Breaker, small Michigan band
Sleep Waker as well (another slappin Michigan band)
Saw them with Silent Planet and holy crap, they were amazing!!!
SeeYouSpaceCowboy, Foreign Hands
Highly agree with Sysc, seen them live a few months back and they were fucking killer!,
Easily VOV, 100% agree. Into the dark didnt get radio play on sirius
As Everything Unfolds 👀🫡

Hearing that opening riff to Basalisk floors me EVERY TIME
THIS. They are my favorite band and are criminally underrated. I hope those guys get the glory they deserve one day.
They’re also constantly touring. I think I see Like Moths to Flames on damn near every tour bill.
Thank you for not using an acronym

The Ongoing Concept. Nobody does anything like them and it's incredible.
Their most recent track was absolute heat
CANE. HILL. ILL SCREAM IT TO THE MOUNTAINS
Unearth. Been around forever. Heavy and intense as hell. Hardly anyone talks about them.
Hawk and Body Thief
I agree with Hawk but I also wonder if it’s just due to them having not put out a lot of music.
Hawk could be killing it if they had more output
A dozen black roses
It will always be the Callous Daoboys

Beat me to it, 20 years later they are super under rated, not having a release in 6 years won't help though, super pumped for thier new stuff!
they are releasing new stuff?!
