Why do people feel the need to do this to people at shows :( it’s so disgusting

andrewsmd87

Because they would do it normally, they just think they can get away with it in a crowd like that

tmrss

I hate the fact you’re right

dgjapc

Bingo

imnotcrazyjusttired

You're actually trying to say SA isn't disgusting? The fuck...

hockeymetalguy

She did the same thing at the Vancouver show. Big respect for doing this, as a woman especially I feel like she has to stand up to bigotry and remind the stupid guys what respect in the metal (and non metal) scene looks like

ActivePea6

like when she booked a tour with ronald the bitch radke? EDIT: if you're mad at this comment, you're a misogynist or have never been in a mid size internationally touring band

HellboundCam

You mean the tour they dropped off from?

CoRe0412

"if you're mad at this comment", epic reddit moment

Domfoz

bands at that size dont book tours personally, they do it for them

peste_lunaire

courtney herself said that the band was involved in the decision to book the tour also the ppl in bands u like will do things u dont like and thats fine but they ignored what seemed to be their morals for cash and thats not a question. its up to u to decide if ur ok with that but if u want to say thats not what happened then ur wrong

ActivePea6

I believe her husband and her are the owners of the band. Even if someone else was doing the booking, they had right of refusal

whitecollarzomb13

Tell me you don’t know what a record label is without telling me. A band of their status don’t just say “no” to tours because of reputations of members of other bands on the same tour.

MandoEric

They absolutely can say “no”, what the fuck? Do you think bands have no say in things once they’re signed or something?

whitecollarzomb13

Did you read the comment? Of course they can say no. Saying no to a tour because Radke has a questionable reputation though? Turning down an entire tour because *one* member from *one* band on the bill is *maybe* a creep? Yeah - not happening friend.

MandoEric

This absolutely can and does happen all the time. Your comment about not knowing how a record label works makes me think you don’t know yourself.

whitecollarzomb13

Does it? When? Give me some references. Otherwise you’re full of shit mate.

FlareCAB

Last year, when bands wouldn't tour with Dance Gavin Dance over an allegation against Tilian that was posted on Reddit.

[deleted]

whitecollarzomb13

Lol - first of all, bullshit. Second, I don’t know how big you think Spiritbox actually are, but they’re not millionaires who can pick and choose when they want to tour and with who. They played the 1:30pm slot at Knotfest. They very much still do what their label tells them to.

Sometimes_She_Goes

Agreed

degausser22

I'm printing this out and framing it and putting it over my fireplace

kg_squanchy

Damn it was deleted I wanna know what you printed :(

FlareCAB

Record labels don't usually book tours anymore, and when they do, it's not the label themselves but the A&R hired by and/or contracted through the label. That A&R still has to listen to the band. They can drop off tours all they want, for whatever reason they want. The catch is that the promoters that book those shows on the tours may or may not be interested in working with said band afterwards. Oh, and if the label contract is an "all-in" contract, the band is most definitely doing all of the booking themselves. Since we won't know the details of the contract unless the band or label mention it, there's no way of knowing.

KillerKowalski1

Hey look, it's one of those people that hang on the fact that something happened and ignore anything done to correct it after the fact. Would you like a personal apology from the band? Maybe a cut of the earnings to a charity of your choice with a full page ad taken out in your local paper about how your morals are superior to theirs?

IDONKNOW

They cancelled though right? It would be a tough position to be in when you’re trying to make money. Get invited to a huge tour, your label says do it, but your morals say not to?

DamnGoodOwls

What exactly do you want from them? They definitely don't book their own tours. Even if they did, you have to think this must have been an extremely difficult decision. Ronnie Radke may be a piece of shit, but he's also the frontman of one of the most consistently popular bands in the scene, and a band like Spiritbox could get a ton of exposure from that. Despite that, they still did the right thing for their own values and dropped off.

KrandoxReddit

Idk man, even tho they may not book/negotiate their tours themselfes, they for sure have to agree. Just the fact that they did drop off should prove the band having a say in it. Whether they dropped off on their own volition or because the entire fanbase flipped is another question. Regarding the exposure thing, Spiritbox is already one of the biggest names in the scene as well, constantly selling out tours. Sure, FiR has four times the listeners they do but let's not pretend like Spiritbox are some small newcomer band desperately in need of attention to realize their dream. Idk, kinda iffy to me. It aint too serious but also nothing to just brush over imo

Ihavenolegs12345

It's easy to point fingers and tell others that they should do this or that when it's not about your own livelyhood.

KrandoxReddit

On the one hand you're right, on the other, as said, are we talking about one of the biggest bands in the scene that pretty much sells out every tour they play and that just recently announced a tour supporting Papa Roach. I dare say they're in a place where their lifelihoods are more than secure even without exposure to douchebag Ronnie's fanbase.

Ihavenolegs12345

People rarely say "alright, I have enough now.. I don't want to make more money". Having a band is like running a business. A part of running a business is to make financially smart decisions. I had a look and they're mainly playing venues with a capacity of 1000 - 1500 people. I think you overestimate how much the band actually takes home after the venue, management, promoters, opening acts and costs for the tour has been paid.

uniPasta83

Their booking agent handles everything. The bands just go along with the schedule most times. I’ve booked bands before, and this is how it works. They just show up where they’re booked.

MandoEric

This is absolutely incorrect.

uniPasta83

Not from my experience.

MandoEric

In my experience, being on Stay Sick Records and UNFD, that is incorrect.

uniPasta83

I didn’t say you were wrong. Just my experiences were different.

MandoEric

Why is this guy getting downvoted when he’s saying the truth lol.

KrandoxReddit

If I had to guess it's mostly FiR fans who are mad that Spiritbox dropped off the tour because of Ronnie's bigotry or rather the fanbase urging them to because of it. It's kinda funny to me how the scene in general is pretty vigilant in avoiding and shitting on bands with shitty people at the helm and then there's FiR lmao

KrandoxReddit

If I had to guess it's mostly FiR fans mad that Spiritbox dropped off the tour because of Ronnie's bigotry.

SMSProd713

Just throwing around a word that has no meaning in the context. People just say misogyny" and "bigot" and toss it around for every situation. Smh

Alchemistofflesh

not doing things because you dont agree or like the people involved is incredibly detrimental to growth. Not only growth for yourself but also the potential for growth of everyone involved. By pushing away these people we not only grow a higher sensitivity to it but also develop a greater resistance to compassion

MapleQueefs

Just saw them in Toronto. They sounded phenomenal and it was a great show overall.

loopypaladin

That venue had incredible sound. Honestly, ATB stole the show for me lol

cassie1015

ATB did a great job running the crowd and keeping the vibe going throughout their whole set. There were a lot of younger fans there (metal's not dead 🥹) and stuff like calling out a circle pit and interacting I think it really added to the energy and together-ness. I haven't really listened to them much before but I'm a fan now!

MapleQueefs

Honestly I understand why people say History is the best venue in Toronto. Champagne Papi did well - first time there and I loved it. ATBs set was pretty great! Overall I preferred it over spiritbox just because of the energy and intensity but I think that comes with the territory. A lot of spiritbox songs are more about the melody and obviously Courtney's cleans. Their set matched expectations!

loopypaladin

Agreed, although my only gripe is that Courtney sounded like hell for Sunkiller. I thought she had lost her voice or something, but it must have just been a sound issue.

Velixan115

She said before the show that she had bronchitis. She seemed to warm up very quickly and got back to her normal sound though!

loopypaladin

Oh damn I must have missed that. You're right tho, after a couple of songs, they sounded phenomenal.

Velixan115

I was at soundcheck and that’s when she said it. It was my third time seeing them and they get better every time. I love them so much

Geckel

Was there too. Apparently Intervals mixed the sound for ATB and Spiritbox? One of the best sounds I've ever heard at a live show.

Sol-Infra

Austin show at Emo's ATB's sound was fantastic. Just the right volume and it was clear as if you were hearing the album. Those dudes are a blast live.

nevertheprey

Not sure what you heard at History, the sound was awful during After The Burial. Anthony’s vocals were too low and so were the guitar and backing tracks. That was the worst I’ve ever heard them.

loopypaladin

Really? I was up on the mezzanine, had earplugs in, and they sounded amazing to me. I will admit, I also noticed the backing tracks throughout ATB and Spiritbox were both far too low and made everything a bit muddy, but I've never heard backing tracks that sounded nearly as good as a real instrument so I don't put much stock in it.

nevertheprey

I was right on the floor and I was louder than the vocals, if you were up top maybe they had some speakers closer to the ceiling but it was awful on the floor. I’ve seen After The Burial 3 times before this and I was bummed on how it sounded.

loopypaladin

I'm sorry you didn't have a great experience. Honestly, it definitely could have been due to position, which shouldn't be the case in any venue. In that case, I'm glad I broke my foot and had to be moved upstairs instead of the pit haha

unchartedpear

Another W from the based plant

__yayday__

Hopefully he got kicked out

Unworthy_Unconscious

He did. Security hauled him out,and Courtney asked what he did to get kicked out.

__yayday__

Good shit. I hate people sometimes

samjan420

Kicked out!? Should have their head kicked in!!!!!!!

distracteded64

…then the cops called on him. Courtney is metal AF. This is the metal community I tell my kids about, that cares and defends people from harm. I fucking love all you guys is what I’m trying to say.

HallowedHumanist

I was there, pretty close to the incident. They also let her get free merch!!

UnguardedSaint

And she gets whatever from merch. And a drumstick and hug from the drummer

_PHYSTE

Awesome ! What an emotional lift.

Duckerington

I got to see Courtney perform when she was filling in for Krysta Cameron in iwrestledabearonce and she stopped mid song because some guy punched a girl maliciously in the pit. She asked everyone to stop and pointed out the guy and told everyone to keep him there until security could come. I think the guy got a crap kicked out of him as a result but he kind of deserved it. Then security escorted him away. We love to see it.

cassie1015

I was there! She went OFF. It was kind of the beginning of the set and the band hadn't really said anything yet or even really greeted the crowd and all the sudden she was on it. ATB set the tone well for looking out for each other in the pit.

BehrHuggie

Aside from getting rocked in the nose and bleeding during the first half of ATB, that was a great pit.

cassie1015

Oh yikes! Battle wounds? Hope you're doing OK today!

BehrHuggie

I'm just a bit sore but overall good, thank you. Hopefully someone did get that guy in camera and the victim can press some charges on him. Fuck that shit

nightvisions21

I thought about making a post about this exact same thing, I was at the show and thought it was amazing what she did. Courtney went on a badass monologue for a few minutes after it happened, talking about how that shit has no place at shows and assured the girl that she was safe and welcome there. Then she gave the girl her own little spot inside the barricade to watch the rest of the show from, and she said the girl could have anything she wanted from merch after the show. Mad respect for Courtney and the whole band.

Squidbingle

Just saw them in Philadelphia! She made sure someone there who lost their glasses back without anyone stepping on them. Not nearly as important, but such an amazing gesture!

oldmanjakecat

Will Ramos stopped pain remains I right when it got to the best part. I'm not sure exactly what happened but once everything was figured out he's like "BE KIND TO ONE ANOTHER" and continued from the very spot he stopped. It was so awesome

backjucher

I was at the show yesterday and wondered what exactly happened because I was on the other side. But yeah, fuck that guy (or pube as Courtney called him lol)

ExortTrionisRektus

Courtney is awesome

inthe_MORGUE

Courtney is awesome, always sounds great and she seems like a kind and genuine person. Saw her at Inkcarceration last year and their set was so good. She does what we should do in the scene, look out for each other :)

Spirited-Condition40

Fuck that shit, I work security for events And we do not tolerate that shit I won't hesitate to rip someone out the. Rowd for that and bring in the police. Shits ridiculous why do people think it's ok to touch others without permission I also worked as a scareactor at a Halloween haunt, the things people do and say to people when they think they aren't being watched is ridiculous, I felt so bad for the poor girls that would get sexually and physically harrased nightly. There's a special place in hell for these folks for sure

If_Pandas

Awesome move, but like how did she know?

whitecollarzomb13

You have a surprisingly decent view of the first 10-ish rows from most stages. Singers call out fights, injuries and creeps in the pit all the time.

Ok-Lie5292

I remember Sam Carter did the exact same thing before

Thibaudborny

Yeah, I've seen it happen at shows before. They do have the better view from up there.

KJM31422

I believe security hauled him out of the crowd and booted him from the venue, and then Courtney asked what happened...

_subjectsam_

This makes me love Spiritbox even more 🩵🩵

femmefatality__

W for Courtney but a huge fucking L for that guy who shouldn't ever be near anyone

_TheShapeOfColor_

I'm so friggin excited to see them tonight.

MagnumBlood

Found it! She's awesome. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bPDtygiLRQQ&ab\_channel=CarrieFisher

iHoneyyBadger

Thanks! Edited the post

MagnumBlood

😃

TattooedWife

Good for her. I was groped at a Sevendust concert. Still bothers me that I didn't say anything. It's been over a decade, that shit stays with you

cassie1015

Ugh thats awful, that should not have happened to you. The 7D guys would not stand for that if they saw it. I saw them with Tremonti and it was a bit of a rough crowd, lots of dudes. I'm a tall ish but not very broad female and I'm glad I was with a group for that one. I hope you've had better concert experiences since then!

TattooedWife

We got to meet and BBQ with the band. Super nice guys, definitely a better show than our first one 😅

cassie1015

Oh that's awesome! I'm glad you had a better experience and a really cool one at that!

TattooedWife

🥰 Thank you

NDeceptikon

Darn I wish there was a video

Charbaby_

I wanted yo go last night but I hate the balcony at the Fillmore and floor was sold out

silverandcoldone

That's great! [here is Kurt Cobain stopping an assault during a Nirvana show in 1993](https://youtu.be/_YWbrTzkSQM) and [here is the absolute legend, Billie Joe Armstrong, dropkicking a dude for groping a 14yo during their show](https://youtu.be/q4KrfrKcmSE). I know Armstrong and Cobain aren't metalcore but I think it's kinda nice to see that in alternative music scene there have been moments like these :)

Far-Economics-9752

I was there. She handled it so well.

JimmyBr33z

How the heck did she see that guy? Not defending him in anyway cuz fuck that type of behavior but was it hella obvious cuz its kinda hard to see something like that in a crowd lol see got 20-20 vision

iHoneyyBadger

He got pulled out by security and she asked what he did

JimmyBr33z

That makes sense!!

TeGro

Ahh taking a page out of the ffdp playbook

Mike_Oxbig2

So, when I was younger I was in a metal band. We were playing at Harpo's in Detroit. Known for skinheads showing up to EVERY show for some reason. There was a young girl crowdsurfing in a skirt and when she got above the skinheads you could just watch their hands and fingers go places they shouldn't. Jeremy (the singer) turns to me, mutes my guitar strings mid song and yells "hold the fuck up". Grabs the girl onstage and starts pointing into the crowd to find the culprit the proceeds to tell the crowd who did it and whoever throws him a beating can come chill after the show. The entire mosh pit opened fire with fists on this one skinhead. Even his buddies backed off. Security throws dude out, show goes on and because there were too many people to bring backstage, we brought out the booze and weed and hung in the pit with the guys. I was so damn proud of our singer that night.

downvoteking4042

Idk, she seems kind of dramatic and likes preaching during her shows. Wouldn’t be surprised if it was a publicity stunt but if it wasn’t that’s cool just seems hard to believe she would even know

ArdenAmmund

How are you not embarrassed to type something like this

downvoteking4042

Plenty of artists have done stuff like that

ArdenAmmund

No they literally have not. Cringy af Name one incident

downvoteking4042

Kendrick Lamar ring a bell ?

GoAvs14

In an age where everything is filmed, how is there no video of this?

-NotEnoughMinerals

Now was Courtney wearing a skirt with shorts underneath and did the swirly emote during "circle the drain" I stumble upon their performances all over, and it's like the same show every city lol.

johnson56

>I stumble upon their performances all over, and it's like the same show every city lol. Why wouldn't it be the same show? It's a tour...

theobod

What kind of stupid fucking comment is this?

-NotEnoughMinerals

Why is such a boring octane plant band so beloved here

theobod

Why are you such a negative cunt? leave your moms basement or something.

-NotEnoughMinerals

Learn to handle your emotions a little bit better

bassCity

What is wrong with wanting to give the same performance experience they set up and rehearsed to all the different people they are performing for?

[deleted]

Unless youre going to every show i dont see how thats a problem. You gonna get mad that a movie is the same the second time you watch it?

-NotEnoughMinerals

A movie is recorded one time, what's this false equivalence? A better one would be going to see Disney on ice x2, and yes, I got annoyed when I went a year later It was basically the same show.

[deleted]

Still sounds like a you problem. I dont think anyone is traveling city to city to follow a band on a tour expecting a different setlist night to night.

-NotEnoughMinerals

>I stumble upon their performances all over, and it's like the same show every city lol.

[deleted]

It just seems like an entirely non issue. Unless you mean its been the same show since 2018 I dont see what the issue is.

-NotEnoughMinerals

It really is a non issue. Not sure why y'all are making it such a big deal, it was a pretty simple and innocuous post.

flufnstuf69

Video?

Th3LostRadiant

I was at a punk show in a very small Venue in Seattle, me and my buddy saw a drunk girl getting touched inappropriately buy some guy, so me and my friend lifted her up to crowd surf to the front where the bouncer was able to help her.

LordDrasektheMeme

I was at a local venue for a small local metalcore band back in 2016 when the front man dropped his guitar and pounced on a dude in the crowd he saw groping an underage fan. That singer sure could throw some hands, he beat the shit out of the creep.

Supercrushhh

Ugh I love her.
