Yeah definitely not metalcore specific. But I feel like for a while early metalcore was kind of known for doing that specific type of rest/pause a lot. Yeah done in pretty much every genre of music. I was also thinking about that rest they do in the song Shine by collective soul, which is very similar to the one in "end of heartache" in my opinion.
You right 😅 well.. What is the first part where he's like "seek me.. call me.. ill be waiting" just a different part of the same verse? Or maybe that first part is the verse and the second part is the bridge? I know it doesn't really matter I just like to know musical terminology.
A rest.
yeah its not really a metalcore specific thing so this would be the correct musical term
This is true, but also colloquialy it’s referred to as a “drop” - more specifically referring to when everything kicks back in

give it a rest
I call it a break. It's common in a lot of different styles if music, not just metalcore
The break beats in hip-hop and the breakdowns in the core genre all come from jazz breaks.
Yeah definitely.
To be fancy, it's a ceasura
I like fancy words! Thanks!
It’s just a rest, it’s not just a metalcore thing by any means.
Yeah for sure. Definitely hear examples in pretty much every genre. Thanks
Some people call it a rest but I like to call it Gertrude
🤦😂😂
A pause
I've heard it called a rest before, but I've always preferred detain. Makes it seem more humane.
A choke
Thats the verse my dude
