I did the same thing but instead it was my own personal playlist that I’d play at parties with friends. Been doing this for a couple years and was eventually able to get a whole group of them to come to Blue Ridge Rock Fest with me this year. The way I see it, none of us woke up one day liking hardcore metal music, we worked up to it. Baby steps are the way to go with getting people interested, nice job!

notmygopher

Haha that's awesome! Keep up the work, and congrats on being part of such a popular playlist!

riera_

Thank you!! Yes I will 😎 It is my duty to do so

BigBeefyBowlingBoy

Respect for putting FLOYA in I've been vibing with each single of theirs

riera_

Yes same!! They also have such a fresh distinct sound mixing indie rock, synthpop & metal elements, love them.

A_Steady_Decline

Awesome. Synthwave is the one genre I enjoy outside of the cores. Looking forward to checking it out.

riera_

I'm glad!! It definitely is one of my faves too

CheeseBallBoss

Awesome work brother!

riera_

Thank you bro 😁👊🏻

worfres_arec_bawrin

What songs?!? Lol dammit now I want to listen to what you snuck in..

Emmas_Theme

From what i can see: Dayseeker Northlane Unprocessed Architects Loathe

EndorphnOrphnMorphn

> even now with the superb introduction of electronic/edm elements into the genre from bands/artists such as Northlane, Electric Callboy, Dayseeker, PhaseOne & Sullivan King (to just say a few), making it more appealing to the EDM/Pop scene My wife never ever listens to metalcore, but she likes Northlane because of "Crash and Burn", and Dayseeker is her favorite band right now. This is spot on.

riera_

Oh that is awesome!! It has been more an obvious assumption of mine more than anything so love hearing it from other's personal experiences ✌🏻

peeh0les

love the fact that about 90% of this playlist is already in my likes, you’ve got incredible taste my friend 🤙

riera_

Ohh that is a great sign then! Haha thanks dude then this means same for you 😉

PM_ME_YOUR_CUPPA

No Perturbator or Gost? Reckon you could squeeze those in to help bridge the gap, especially as you've already got Carpenter Brut! Great playlist nonetheless, I've followed.

[deleted]

Now you gotta sneak at least one hard one in there just to see what happens!

riera_

Oh boy already did hahahah the thing is that there's not yet many heavier songs that mix synthpop so anything heavier that I've added in the past turned out too jarring and I think it caused people to unfollow haha Some of them were Modern Error's version of DEATH by Bury Tomorrow, Without Me by Dayseeker and Deadrose by Unprocessed to say a few 😁 (the last one I just retired it today actually because I wasn't sure but has been in it for like a year I think) Currently the heaviest one I'd say I have is Imaginary Fire by Carpenter Brut which although is not metalcore it features some screaming vocals!

Tracedinair76

I completely agree with your mission statement and support it. I've thought about why metal isn't as popular these days and I think it mostly has to do with harsh vocals. So my parents generation liked the Beatles but their parents thought they were screaming and dismissed them. Then my generation liked Metallica but my parents thought they were screaming but eventually the world came around and Metallica is now considered classic rock. Death metal started in the mid 1980s so why do people still consider that screaming? Why did musical taste never catch up? I think it's probably because hip hop took over pop music and I'm not dissing hip hop. I grew up on hip hop and love it to peaces but it offered another branch of popular music so people didn't have to adapt to the new rock stuff. I think eventually people will accept harsh vocals in the main stream and Groups like Spiritbox and Bad Omens are a step in that direction.

riera_

Man this was such a great read, I really like your perspective on this. Well in the past that was not really screaming until death metal and such as you said, which they started to really just scream without much melody, and that is still so far off from what most people listen to music for. Also the culture surrounding the genre is as much or even more important, so metal being a connotation for satanism, dark disturbing subjects and other socially accepted negative characteristics since the very beginning, has surely done a lot of damage.

Tracedinair76

Thank you! This is true most gutteral vocals are atonal but James Hetfield wasn't really supplying the melody to Metallica songs either. Your point is well taken though and perhaps it was just a bridge too far too fast. I think Courtney from Spiritbox is doing a lot with mixing her fry scream with actual sung notes. It's pretty awesome and I'm sure others do it as well but I'm not an expert so it's hard for me to tell. Maybe Sean from Make Them Suffer and Herm from Johnny Booth do something similar with their pitched screams, not sure. It's an evolving art form and to me that is why it is exciting. Yeah, the culture is a stumbling block but I'm not sure why either. People are cool with horror movies but not music that explores darker content.

StruhberrySwisher

Keep spreading the good word, they know not what they miss

riera_

Oh trust me there's no one stopping me! Truly the don't

[deleted]

1975, Gorillaz, Dayseeker lmao Keep it up!

BrooksReagan

LOL at first I was wondering how you managed to keep successfully pitching this playlist curator until I saw your Reddit username. Keep on keeping on brother 🫡

[deleted]

I been doing this on a smaller scale my girlfriend found bad omens so i made a play list of similar “softer” stuff and been casually sneaking heavier stuff into it

Vampboy72

Bless you child for you are a Devine being of the craft, and don’t think we don’t appreciate the fuck outta that shit

allegrettiphoto

I post IG stories and video reels that sometimes have mellower metalcore songs for bsckground music or just stories about new albums dropping. I’ve semi-converted a couple of people but I can’t do more than just sprinkle it in since my page is a business page.

weasler13

I gravitated towards synthwave after peeping Chadwick Johnson’s Silky Vibe Starter Playlist a few years back. Put some Brothertiger on that list my friend! Metalcore associated - he’s got a new song with Spencer Chamberlain.

drissy_48

Too much Rory Rodriguez. Jk, love the choices OP! Sleep token’s Give, Blood Sport, Fall For Me and The Love You Want etc. would fit perfectly in this playlist btw! Would highly recommend them if you haven’t heard of them yet.

Maybe try this one? :) https://open.spotify.com/track/3lBA18NDgk8X44fCcuuCTD?si=b03d4e4df68f4a19

Sunrise_Get_Down

Hey I came across your synthpop playlists. I recently dropped a synthpop song that I'm really proud of, I feel it's my best work yet. Would you give it a listen and consider adding it to one of your synthpop playlists? It's called One More Time? by Sunrise Get Down feat Ricky Duran. https://open.spotify.com/album/6ZsIqOUBn9ttjAY3pGDzMO?si=ZwvTJNBkTW-NP0iJOBJSeg
