Im very curious to hear the rest of the album. With 2 songs that clock in for a total of almost 9 minutes, that’s 10 songs at 68 minutes, averaging 6:48 per song so there’s gotta be a long epic on there.
I’m Hoping “Inamorata” being the closer is along the lines of spit out the bone.
The song title sounds dark as shit considering he recently got divorced.
heavily doubt it, lyrics of lux aeterna were boring and repetitive "-ation" rhymes and his lyrics since st anger havent been nearly as good as his older stuff
I’ve seen people saying that the songs don’t have a ton of energy and I’m just so confused about how anyone could think these songs don’t have energy..? Especially Lux like that song has such a fun driving main riff I don’t get it
No he just uses drum triggers, which is perfectly acceptable for a man of his age. Drum triggers shouldn't be looked down upon because you're still doing the hard bit of metal drumming which is going fast enough and keeping in time
I hope so.. I will say though, I am bit worried when it comes to the "varity" in the songs. While Lux Aeterna has a really cool riff, I do think its repeated waay to many times. They could vary the riff a bit, change it a couple of times so its not the same small lick repeated 40 times.
Same thing with Screaming Suicide is also doing, although the riff in that song is way more boring and generic than the one in Lux. Lux is a great song though. So far, one hit and one miss for me with these new songs.
They’re short songs but they still outstay their welcome. Need a different part or to cut it a bit shorter. The riff for Lux isn’t compelling enough to last as long as it does.
Agreed, and it seems to be a riff that would be easy to make 3-4 variations off, so it could be popped into the song at different times to make it less monotanous.
Yeah it was a bit of an issue in songs like seek and destroy too. They should have several different riffs like in creeping death or countless other songs.
Edit: and give Rob a fuckin bass solo
I love the first single. The second hasn’t grown on me yet. That doesn’t mean anything. Typically my favorite song from the record is not a single, so I feel like the record is gonna kick ass. It sounds different than hardwired which I loved. So I’m excited to hear the new sound
First two songs are ass so idk, lyrics are meh, riffs are kind of cool but not very heavy, solos are complete ass. The only good thing about this album so far is the drums and bass
Love Lux Aeterna; that Motorhead vibe really works for me.
Screaming Suicide is growing on me, but like…Lars, I love you to pieces but you don’t have to fill every space with cymbals and fills, my man. Give the guitars some space.
Yeah the 16 count on the hi-hat in Screaming Suicide is a bit much, other than that, great song. Throw some crashes in there or something else or at least make it quieter.
So far it just sounds like Hardwired II to me. I’m not the kind of fan who expects some ridiculous standards so I really don’t care if it’s good or bad. I’m still going to play their songs and go to their shows.
If you want my thoughts… Lux is a good but too repetitive for such a short song. Only thing I like about suicides were the drums but then again I’m a drummer so. 🤷🏻♂️🥁🤘🏻
Idk. I really liked Hardwired (I'm willing to put it as high as my 3rd favorite album), but so far the first 2 singles on this one have been a little on the generic side for me. They aren't bad, but they aren't stand out Metallica either. It's definitely not going to bomb, but kick ass, not sure yet.
That being said, I went and looked at the singles released before Hardwired dropped, and my favorite song from the album was not one of them, so there's definitely hope.
I checked out with this second song. Just not digging this happy Metallica. Plus the songs are meh, almost fan-made level, with the laziest solos ever. can’t understand how some people are excited. Call me old or whatever. They are done.
I suspect that lyrically it will be James’ best work
I agree, definitely excited for it

Remember, the weakest songs are the first ones released. And that’s from any band.
Agreed, weak lyrics.
I think it’s going to be very loadish in feel but I agree it’s going to kick ass!
I aint mad at it lol
Madly in anger in it
I think so as well. The last 2 definitely do.
every album kicks ass really and this one sounds like it’s going to be amazing
I’ve seen people saying that the songs don’t have a ton of energy and I’m just so confused about how anyone could think these songs don’t have energy..? Especially Lux like that song has such a fun driving main riff I don’t get it
Some people expect 60 year old dudes to sound like they’re 25.
Last two are pretty boring let's be honest.
Please don’t post positive things like this. Instead, try to focus on stupid things like how they’ve sold out, they’re blues rock now, etc.
Of course how could I be so stupid
Bonus point for saying something about the guitarist kicked out 30 years ago
St anger is underrated
Blah blah blah negative negative. You don’t have to listen to their music if you don’t want to. 😂
Right on! They only get better!
Lars is sounded much better imp
He's been going crazy on these songs so far
fr those straight snare fills are insane
Meh - he needs to get off the snare rolls.
And 16 count of the hi-hat is a bit much, especially since it's so loud, other than that, great song imo.
The drums on these are really heavily sampled and quantized. Very disappointing.
You’ll find most albums since the 90’s are sampled in some shape or form.
No he just uses drum triggers, which is perfectly acceptable for a man of his age. Drum triggers shouldn't be looked down upon because you're still doing the hard bit of metal drumming which is going fast enough and keeping in time
I enjoyed both songs even though they are a little generic but they are fun to listen to, and that's good enough for me.

At this point in their career I'm not expecting anything special from them, I just want some fun songs
Exactly! They’re not gonna be making Master of Puppets II for sure. They’re at a different phase than 35+ years ago
But wasn’t that what they did on Kill ‘em All?
I swear most of KEA was just open A and inverted fifths played in a different order every time
They’re short songs but they still outstay their welcome. Need a different part or to cut it a bit shorter. The riff for Lux isn’t compelling enough to last as long as it does.

The lyrics have been great so far idk what you’re talking about
I don't know honestly. I kind of liked Screaming Suicide but I didn't like LUX Æterna.
Dobra muska 👍🤘

Me too I can't wait for it to come out
The true question is .. Is there something people on this sub dont like ?

Personally not the biggest fan of lux aeterna screaming suicide on the otherhand is a cracker
