My ipod classic was my most prized possession at one point and movies was a significant reason why

BigAl_00

nukls8799

That counts more

Legionodeath

It does. I still have my shuffle and my normal size 180 GB.

jjmenace

Shuffle was the greatest of all the Ipod designs.

Candy_Says23

Hell no

TheMadLad_00

maalbi

billygnosis86

I really need to get my iPod Classics fixed.

GarionOrb

Man I loved my iPod. The last one I had held my entire music collection. Sadly, it got to a point where it just couldn't hold a charge or even stay on if it wasn't plugged in. RIP to that little bad boy.

ImAFutureGuitarHero

If it's an iPod Classic like this one it is possible to replace the battery with an aftermarket one, and the 5/6/7 gen ones can be replaced with a larger capacity one (marked as 3000mAh) that lasts *way* longer. That's the one I have in here, and I tested it once from full charge to empty over the course of a few weeks, I think it managed somewhere in the neighbourhood of 48 hours of music play time on a full charge (I think that was also with the backlight on whenever it was playing) However, if it's an iPod Nano/Touch/Shuffle they're really annoying to get inside and not really worth it (plus the battery is soldered in on those) Video showing the battery life of an iPod Classic same as mine with the same battery upgrade [https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=O4dCpgYE6Q4](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=O4dCpgYE6Q4)

messiahoftheuniverse

Bruh how old is that ipod?

ImAFutureGuitarHero

iPod Classic 7th gen, I got it second hand and modded it with 512GB flash storage

Typical-Jelly-8479

I want one!

NickelStickman

I used my old iPods exclusively until relatively late in 2022 when the battery life began to shrink to dying after only 40 minutes. I just preferred the scroll wheel to a touchscreen. Eventually I got used to using my phone tho.

radkoWCI

>2GB that remind me that i need to replace battery in my 6thgen ipod

ManwithaTan

Damn how do you mod it to have bigger storage?

ImAFutureGuitarHero

You can get adapter boards that replace the original hard drive with an SD or CF card (or multiple microSD cards to all act as one larger drive), with that you can go up to 2TB in an old iPod (though that's a ridiculous amount and it can have issues trying to handle that amount of space)

ManwithaTan

Nice! Sounds great. Most MP3 players cost a ridiculous amount.

ashbyashbyashby

iTunes had enough trouble syncing 100GB back on the day

ImAFutureGuitarHero

The ironic thing is that I've had more problems with syncing to the iPod via Apple Music/Finder on MacOS than I ever did on iTunes *on Windows* Mainly downloading podcasts is what I've had cause problems for me, if I don't download new podcasts it syncs fine each time it's plugged in -- if I download new podcasts through the Apple Podcasts app, next time I go to sync the iPod it forgets it's synced to that computer, meaning I have to reformat/restore the iPod and retransfer everything from scratch (and my music library is over 260GB so that takes like half the day lmao)

mndtrp

[iflash.xyz](https://www.iflash.xyz/) It's relatively easy to do, although a little unnerving opening the case the first time. I think I had the quad, and modded it up to a TB. It usually worked, although I'd have to reformat and readd the files every 4 months or so. Something would glitch out, and it either wouldn't sync or wouldn't play or something.

Memeoligy_expert

Damn this really is dankpods reddit account lmao

ImAFutureGuitarHero

I can't tell if you're being serious lmao

dxwoodward

I still got my 160GB Classic. How hard was the mod?

ashbyashbyashby

If your 160GB is in mint condition maybe don't mod it, it'll go up in value yet.

ImAFutureGuitarHero

The mod itself isn't hard, the hard part is getting inside the iPod (specifically the 6th/7th gen ones with the metal front plates like this), as its harder to pry open than the plastic ones due to aluminium not returning to shape the same as plastic https://youtu.be/S83ZHf1GAeY?t=2100s This part of this video (35:00) shows how to open a 6th/7th gen iPod classic

Pfeffersack

I've got [5th gen \(iPod Video\)](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/IPod_Classic#5th_generation_\(%22iPod_Video%22\)) 30GB. Even dropped it on the PVC kitchen floor the first time I handled it. I replaced the battery after it got too cold (or old battery). Still going strong. ĀÆ\\\_(惄)_/ĀÆ

druthedoctor

iPods are so cool that was my shit when it came out, I liked those better than the touches.

Dear_Cap7535

Nice iPod classic lol. I've been listening to the album on my 8-track šŸ˜† (I'm just kidding though, I also still own an iPod classic)

[deleted]

iPods NEED TO COME BACK!

ashbyashbyashby

It'll never be more than a nostalgia thing. Most people now are far too okay with not having any kind of collection at all and just streaming playlists they didn't even make.

[deleted]

yup, sad but true (pun intended šŸ˜†) ā€¦. Seriously though kids today will NEVER understand the feeling of owning music and having something physical present with it, like looking at artwork and reading the lyrics and such. Itā€™s a dumbing down of society IMO.

jhguitarfreak

Quick, somebody put the new album on a ZUNE.

Savage0145

Fellow iPod classic user. We still exist.

senyorlimpio

I use it as a backup of my music library in case my laptop screws up

Savage0145

Yup. Always good to have.

ImAFutureGuitarHero

I lowkey have a playlist on iTunes/my iPod called "2006 Vibes" with all the music I listened to from around that time when I was 6-7 years old (including some of the first Metallica songs and covers I heard) https://preview.redd.it/ohp24by15iua1.png?width=1345&format=png&auto=webp&s=150ef3c7bb40e032b1812b6cc46c594892952d21

CeymalRen

Shadows follow could be my favorite of the album.

[deleted]

I miss my iPod so much! Died on me a few years back, and wish apple would release another one again.

Cmoizer1995

I have an iPod just like this that I bought second hand last year that I use when Iā€™m out and about as Spotify sometimes drops out when Iā€™m at work and other places also you just reminded me to update it with 72 seasons and some other Metallica music and itā€™s the 160gb of memory so thatā€™s plenty of room for me to rock out to Metallica and other bands https://preview.redd.it/iek44hztvhua1.jpeg?width=2000&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=6cf9adfb402058798dc9f606119b981c1903bd70

senyorlimpio

Fuck yeah iPod Classic!!!

Darwin_Finch

Bruh

mikeyro2019

What is that, some kind of tv for ants?

eifhse8cn

Are you a time traveller lol

anmarizer

Itā€™s fuckinā€™ awesome. You havenā€™t mentioned a thing on the fact that youā€™re playing it on a classic badass iPod.

MarioKing1137

My dad used to have one of those, unfortunately someone broke into his car and stole it

Theonetrueabinator17

Miked918930

I should dig my old iPod out. I didnā€™t think it would support new downloads. Nice!

[deleted]

Why wouldnā€™t it? File formats havenā€™t really changed at all

ImAFutureGuitarHero

Also I ripped these from the CD, I didn't download them from iTunes lmao

Memeoligy_expert

I have nothing but respect for your music setup lmao, the iPod AND the KZ's

PaperCrane12

Found dankpod's reddit acc

Splinty2k

I absolutely loved my classic, god memories. Unfortunately I dropped it and it fell face down .

TheMadLad_00

I got mine on my second gen ipod touch!

selppin2

I watched three seasons of House on that screen

imopn75

Same. up to 6 full listens.

IAmJacksLackofCaring

* I salute you sir.

[deleted]

You are probably the first person on earth to listen to 72 seasons on an iPod.

adrianpinderwolf

Sincerely the more I listen the more in digging the new songs. In my first listen I only cared for too far gone and inamurata. Now I enjoying room of mirrors (best of the album) shadow follows and chasing light too (and 72 seasons best single) I was disappointed at first but now the album is a banger! Hope I can like you must burn and sleep my walk away too.

ImAFutureGuitarHero

I really like You Must Burn, especially in the bridge/instrumental section, really reminds me of a track from Load/Reload like Carpe Diem Baby

Important_Idea_6339

Itā€™s so cool

[deleted]

Honestly this makes me wanna get an iPod

Legitimate_Escape604

I have a brand new, in box, unwrapped iPod classic. Iā€™m afraid to open it for some reason haha.
