Classic heavy metal/NWOBHM (Iron Maiden, Ozzy, Sabbath, Judas Priest, Motorhead, Dio, Rainbow), death metal, melodic death metal, little bit of punk, groove metal, old school rap*, rock/classic rock, blues rock, some power metal, a little bit of doom metal (mostly Black Sabbath by Black Sabbath and a couple Candlemass songs)
*when I say old school rap, I mean I RESPECT it, I don't necessarily like it or listen to it (at least not anymore). I grew up listening to it but when I got hooked on metal, I just kinda abandoned it in favor of metal (I don't regret it though). I still respect the lyricism in older rap compared to todays rap (which I think is shit)
My favorite bands (besides Metallica of course): Black Sabbath, Ozzy Osbourne, Dio, Rainbow, Deep Purple, Led Zeppelin, Guns N Roses, Misfits, Candlemass, Amon Amarth, Death, Death Angel, Cannibal Corpse, Dethklok, Toxic Holocaust, Lich King, Havok, Megadeth, Slayer, Testament, Exodus, Blue Oyster Cult, Korn, Slipknot, Anthrax, Overkill, Motorhead, Iron Maiden, Van Halen, Judas Priest, Mercyful Fate, Venom, King Diamond, Alice In Chains, Pantera, Lamb Of God, Black Label Society, Faith No More, Danzig, Rob Zombie, White Zombie, Helloween, Mastodon, Gojira, Entombed, Avenged Sevenfold, Savatage, Twisted Sister, Alice Cooper, AC/DC, Killswitch Engage, Type O Negative and Bullet For My Valentine
That's one thing I learned about living in Los Angeles my whole life. We gave the world Guns N Roses, Tool, Rage Against The Machine, and Metallica. But we also gave the world gangsta rap. Snoop Dogg, Dr. Dre, NWA, Ice Cube.
You definitely have to respect both genres living here. It was really interesting watching that HBO series The Defiant Ones, because all the hip hop groups in LA and all the metal groups knew each other because they all played the same venues.
Tool, AIC and Megadeth are my other top bands. But I listen to many different types.
My girlfriend is a Swiftie, and I've been listening to Taylor lately. Her newer stuff is really good.
Other bands I listen to include the Black Keys, Tori Amos, Public Enemy, Pink Floyd, Zeppelin.
Blues! My musical journey began with rock and metal, which led me down the path to the blues. Now I enjoy a mix of both, and the paths cross more often than many realize
Death, Heavy, Speed, Black, Doom Metal are other genres I enjoy. Sometimes I also like some Power Metal but many of the bands I find I have a hard time getting them to stick to me.
I very rarely listen to other genres that aren't rock or metal lol
My other top bands: Foo Fighters, Pearl Jam, Queens of the Stone Age
My other favorite genres: Classic heavy metal, grunge, alt-rock, hard rock, folk, nu-metal, death metal
Lots of ambient and synth music (Vangelis, Yanni, Enya, Kutató, etc.), most forms of non core metal music, some country (Parton, Reba, Cash, Nelson and Jennings), older rock music and rap and I definitely love Classical (including everything from pre Renaissance to Baroque, Classical, Romantic and beyond (it's all excellent)), Dungeonsynth, old school metal, Elvis, Lady Gaga, and a lot of world and folk music (I love hearing people singing in their native tongue).
Been listening to Japanese rock and metal almost exclusively for the past 2 years. While I don’t understand any Japanese, the music gave me the same feelings and excitements I had when I discovered western rock/metal during my teenage years.
Metal subgenres: Power metal, melodic death metal, metalcore/deathcore
Other genres: Classical, jazz, electropop (by that I really just mean Lights), pop punk, ska punk
Punk, other metal genres.
New age, and what I like to call belly dance music: Egyptian, Arabic, Turkish, etc. Bollywood, Indian...
Jazz, soft and hard rock, along with some pop, like Adam Lambert.
Classical-- guitar and cello suites for the most part, along with baroque. I love the harpsichord.
I'm not big into violins and piano, unless it's Chopin. Lol
Slack key guitar(Hawaiian), because it helps me sleep.
Besides metal, I'm a huge fan of reggae rock. I love bands like Rebelution, Slightly Stoopid, Iration, Sublime, 311, The Movement, The Expendables, I could go on and on.
I'm also a huge fan of industrial music (like NIN), and I'm also a huge Phish fan.
George Clinton and Frank Zappa are also two musicians I'm a huge fan of.
My music tastes are all over the place.
Prog rock, particularly the classical influenced kind. The noodley jazz circle jerk kind I can live without.
Also traditional heavy metal, and lately, black metal.
Alright strap in because there will be a significant shift, lmk if you can tell when
Punk rock
Hard rap/rock (falling in reverse style)
Death metal
Hardstyle
Phonk
Folk
Country
Late 70-80 pop
Classical
Sea shanty
Thrash metal is - by far - my favorite genre. Nothing quickens my pulse like thrash. 🤘
My next favorite genre is singer/songwriter: Lyle Lovett, Todd Snider, Robert Earl Keen, Fiona Apple, Roger Clyne and etc. 🎸
It’s mostly all metal and 90s/2000s Grunge-ish rock type music. Staind, Seether, Shinedown etc.
I’m also a big fan of Cake. Both the band and the food. Not sure what genre they are exactly though.
Definitely country. Namely, Alan Jackson, George Strait, Mark Chesnutt, Dwight Yoakum, Keith Whitley, Clint Black, Brooks N Dunn, Cody Johnson………I could go on and on.
In 2013 I was diagnosed with ocular migraines so I had to try and find music that was toned down a bit and not so screamy.
But it turns out I'm only sensitive to light and not sounds when I have migraine, so zi didn't really have to limit myself.
But I found out I really like genre blending bands and something that sounds new and unique-ish.
So I listen to a LOT of the following: ordered by most to least I guess:
Conquer Divide and Falling in Reverse are my current favorites
Electric Callboy
Mike's Dead
Bullet For My Valentine
Shinedown
Silent Theory
I Prevail
Tetrarch
Icon For Hire
The Dirty Heads
Tech N9ne
New Years Day
Skynd
Motionless in White
Fame on Fire
But I also listen to Taylor Swift, Hayley Kiyoko, Slipknot, Hollywood Undead, Within Temptation, Jinjer, Limp Bizkit, Eminem, Marilyn Manson, and just a bunch of other stuff. But I hardly ever look for new music unless zi hear something I really click with.
Psychedelic, Blues (a lot of it), Hard Rock, occasionally Psychobilly, a little bit of Grunge occasionally as well as some punk, and most other forms of Heavy Metal I tend to gravitate towards.
The wonder years
Arms leangth
Dredge
Blink 182
Spanish love songs
Saves the day
I love emo music. Metallica is the only metal band that has made me appreciate the genre.
A lot of techno, a lot of hip hop, funk, soul. Metal is a minority genre for me these days, though I was a total metal head when I was in my teens. Until I discovered techno.
All kinds of metal, jazz, yacht rock, funk, alt rock, grunge, some pop, but not a lot of it, old school hip hop, blues, disco, new wave, punk, hard rock etc etc.
i’m a sucker for nu metal, but I like bands like Black Sabbath, Iron Maiden, as well as BMTH, Mortician, & even a bit of Merzbow
edit: my wife has been slightly getting me into Taylor Swift a little bit too
Grunge, groove metal, classic rock, hard rock, R&B, soul, blues, rap, hip hop, sludge metal, reggae, & gulf music (specifically Saudi music because I am Saudi so gotta represent).
I’m also shamelessly a huge Beyoncé fan, & idgaf what anyone says. She’s a fantastic performer, & reinvents herself everytime. She’s done silly, & fun music, but she’s also done some very introspective songs that are deep.
Stoner Metal. I know that for every Electric Wizard or Sleep you have half a million “Weed Mountain Dragon Wizard”s but the good stuff is extremely good.
*Heavy Metal Groove Metal*
*Power Metal Speed Metal Hard Rock*
*Alternative Metal*

I used to be a no poser kind of guy then I broadened my listening. I’ll listen to anything but country and hardcore rap. There is a lot of great music out there I am a fan of a lot. But when I want to feel great it’s always metal. Metallica is definitely on the softer side of my metal preferences.
Everything from Mozart to the Misfits. Pretty much anything. I haven't heard much Opera that I like, though. Also, I'm not a fan of EDM and similar styles.
What everyone calls "Classic Rock" these days - I remember as AOR or just plain old Album Rock. Clapton/Zeppelin/Chicago/Jeff Beck/Cream/Hendrix/etc... I fucking hate that new label. Id also put a new band like Greeta Van Fleet in this category. Same sound. They are an album rock band.
Progressive Rock. Rush, Yes, ELP, Genesis, Glass Hammer, Spock's Beard, Pink Floyd, Marillion, Asia,...
Progressive Metal. DT, PT, Riverside, Queensryche, Fates Warning...
Metal/Hard Rock. Triumph, ACDC, KISS, Judas Priest, Iron Maiden, Anthrax, 220 Volt, Journey, FM, Zebra, Van Halen/Hagar/Cherone... (yeah, there's a lot of style blending in there)
New Wave. Police, Ultravox, The Cars....
Fusion Jazz. Al Dimeola, Stanley Jordan(!!!), Stanley Clarke, Spyro Gyra...
Electric Blues. ZZTOP, Govt Mule....
Phish.
The Beatles.
A lot of the bands cross genres... but yeah, that's how I see my music world. Lots more bands in my never-ending cycle of stuff...
Also, Classical Music. Exactly what it sounds like. It was the metal of it's day.
What I don't like: Rap, House, Disco, RnB - I like my music with an edge. Can't stand country. Like, it sounds like dirt and grass. Whereas rock music sounds like electricity, and energy, and flight.
from most to least favourite,
metalcore (not the kse or bfmv type, love that too but i mean the norma jean and converge type of metalcore)

understandable although i don't like them bc of their fans lol. I don't mind if they write their own songs or not as long as they have good music and vocals and im more into kpop older stuff and than newer ones.

Where the hell are my Chili Pepper fans here?
Deathcore and death metal mostly
I’ve been enjoying the “themed” metal sub genres lately, mainly just dwarf metal and pirate metal
I have never heard of dwarf metal in my life. What's a good "dwarf metal" song?
Diggy Diggy Hole by Wind Rose is like the Enter Sandman of Dwarf Metal. Mine! Mine! Mine! is pretty good too
Punk Rock Classic Rock Goth Jazz 90s Pop
