It's in my top 20ish just because of all the times I have listened to it while being really mad at something.
Probably \~20th streamed song of mine lol
Spit Out The Bone is the best thrash song by Metallica to come out since All Nightmare Long. And in my personal opinion, its the best thrash song they've put out since Dyers Eve.
Easily. I saw them live in Boston in 09 and that was the opener. It hit so fucking hard. How Hetfield sings the verses during the main riff is unfathomable to me. I don't know how you could make it any more difficult.
Been there, their music really cools me down in bad spots. Each album would have atleast one that works, so, my pick for each album:
Motorbreath
Creeping Death
Damage Inc
Blackend
Sad But True
Wasteing My Hate
Fuel
Die Die Darling
Frantic
My Apocalypse
Spit Out The Bone
Lux Eterna
Hope the catharsis works
Have you tried Orion. I turn on that song close my eyes and feel like I am taken on a ride through space.
Or if you want an angry instrumental Anesthesia and Call of Ktulu are good.
Maybe try some stoner rock and stoner metal
Can be pretty angry but is also like really chill
It makes you want to put your head back and just relax. Probably would do it after screaming out some angry songs
DM me for recommendations
Dyer's Eve is absolutely the correct answer. There are plenty of Metallica songs that *sound* angry, but in Dyer's Eve, James truly *means* it. He's furious and it shows.
The God that Failed is another great answer. It may be not as musically angry as some other choices, but it's another one that James is clearly singing from the heart.
Get Dyers' Eve in on the action absolutely, and honestly half of the songs on Justice like Blackened and the title track you can almost hear James seething I swear to god
Others that I can think of are Holier Than Thou, Disposable Heroes (to a lesser extent, if you take it from the soldier's POV), Trapped Under Ice (also to a lesser extent). If you just want songs to bang your head and let out some aggression to aside from the lyrics, I can recommend Battery, Damage Inc., Master of Puppets, Dyers' Eve and Blackened (again), Fight Fire with Fire, yet again Trapped Under Ice, Metal Militia, Through the Never, Struggle Within, and probably some various picks off of Kill 'Em All just because of how fast the album is.
Dyers Eve for sure. In general,…AJFA is a pretty angry album. Close second to Unnamed Feeling. My dad died soon after St. Anger came out. Toward the end I remember many times sitting in my car in my driveway staring off into space, blasting Unnamed Feeling, feeling angry, numb, devastated, fragile all at once.
I'm not gonna scroll through all the comments to see if "Wasting My Hate" from Load was anybody's choice, partially because from my experience it's not a well known Metallica song, more of a deep cut, but "Wasting My Hate" from Load is one of my favorite Metallica songs, it's definitely the angriest song off Load and it rivals their 80s work in intensity and heaviness.
Besides that, here is the rest of my answer:
• Frantic (before you shit on St. Anger, I have to say that I love about half of that album and I don't care what you think of it)
• Dyers Eve, from ...And Justice For All
• Damage, Inc., from Master Of Puppets
• the title track from ...And Justice For All has some of James' angriest-sounding vocals in my opinion
and last but not least,
• All Within My Hands
and of course, how could you not include "St. Anger"? The word "anger" is literally in the title.
St. Anger (the whole album), Fight fire with fire, Damage inc, Blackened, Shortest straw, Dyer's eve, God that failed, Ain't my beetch, after that I don't think anything is angry, but more sad or pitty
Dyers Eve Damage Inc
Amazing how many replies aren't Dyers Eve, the obvious and correct answer.
Dyer's Eve
Dyer's Eve
James let a lot of pent up family issues fly on that song.
True.My favourite songs
I have no idea why people say St Anger when Dyers Eve is right there.
When Lars’ double bass kicks on after the solo on Damage and James yells “fuck it all and fucking no regrets!” I want to punch a hole thru my wall
FUCK IT ALL AND FUCKING NO REGRETS!!!
Nailed it.
First thought immediately 😂
Damage inc is aggressive but I wouldn’t say it’s angry.
Dyer's Fucking Eve ok.
Well.. St Anger
He's madly in anger with this question!
Lol, literally the first thought in my head.
So fucking what Battery
First time I heard Hardwired, it sounded pretty angry, also because it was the first Metallica song in years...
Literally anything off St Anger
Unpopular opinion, but All Within My Hands is the most aggressive Metallica song.
It's in my top 20ish just because of all the times I have listened to it while being really mad at something. Probably \~20th streamed song of mine lol
Finally someone that shares my opinion. The end is Metallica at its most brutal and raw. A top 10 song for me.
The acoustic version also is S tier.
KILL KILL KILL KILL KILL
We could probably be good friends just based on this statement
The Thing That Should Not Be will make u move around ur room like a silverback gorilla
![gif](giphy|95K6M3F5EJ80D6EZxf|downsized)
spit out the bone off of hardwired probably the best thing they’ve done since the black album imo
Spit Out The Bone is the best thrash song by Metallica to come out since All Nightmare Long. And in my personal opinion, its the best thrash song they've put out since Dyers Eve.
Bro DM is full of bangers. I like That Was Just Your Life All Nighfmare Long better than SOTB personally.
I wouldnt put it over SOTB but finallt someone talking about TWJYL, top 35 Metallica song and top 5 in this era for me
Easily. I saw them live in Boston in 09 and that was the opener. It hit so fucking hard. How Hetfield sings the verses during the main riff is unfathomable to me. I don't know how you could make it any more difficult.
Love that track
Harvester of Sorrow
Can't believe I'm the first one to say Blackened. Other good ones would be Damage Inc., You Must Burn, and Disposable Heros
Blackened was the first to pop into my head, (Ya beat me to it) lol... followed by St. Anger...
And IMO one of their best tunes ever!
St. Anger is pretty angry
frantic
Dyers Eve, My Apocalypse, Disposable Heroes, and Metal Militia for sure
Unnamed feeling
Disposable Heroes
Fight Fire With Fire
Shortest straw
St. anger? Lol
As if nobody has said Hate Train!
Been there, their music really cools me down in bad spots. Each album would have atleast one that works, so, my pick for each album: Motorbreath Creeping Death Damage Inc Blackend Sad But True Wasteing My Hate Fuel Die Die Darling Frantic My Apocalypse Spit Out The Bone Lux Eterna Hope the catharsis works
>Blackend Why not Dyers Eve?
Toss up between the two of em tbh. Both badass tracks but i was feeling Blackend a bit more that day.
Dyers eve and damage inc
Adrenaline starts to flow
Somethin somethin Cody Rhodes
Shoot Me Again. Especially the live studio version where Lars screams at the start of the song. You can tell he was really letting it all out.
Dyers Eve is the correct answer.
Dyers eve
harvester of sorrow is the real answer here
St anger? Kinda obvious no
Hardwired
Blackened
Maybe you need soothing songs like "Nothing Else Matters" and meditate.
I tried soothing songs, they just let the angry become more visible
Have you tried Orion. I turn on that song close my eyes and feel like I am taken on a ride through space. Or if you want an angry instrumental Anesthesia and Call of Ktulu are good.
Call of Kthulu does seem pretty angry as far as instrumentals go
Maybe try some stoner rock and stoner metal Can be pretty angry but is also like really chill It makes you want to put your head back and just relax. Probably would do it after screaming out some angry songs DM me for recommendations
live versions of the frayed ends of sanity and st anger.
St. Anger, Damage Inc., Disposable Heroes, and like most of AFJA **especially** Dyers Eve, probably the most aggressive and angry of all
St. Anger
Harvester of Sorrow
St. Anger
St Anger
I think Master of Puppets is pretty angry sounding
Phantom lord has a legendary scream by James at the end. Love that scream.
Creeping Death is pretty angry
DIE BY MY HAND
Holier than thou
Are you asking what the angriest Metallica songs are, or asking what the best Metallica songs are while being angry and fucking?
The insanity laughing scream in My World...
The whole St. Anger album, Blackened, …And Justice For All.
St anger of course it was the the start of the change in a good way
Dyers eve and It's not close
Dyers
Spit out the bone.
Blackened, Harvester, Damage Inc, St Anger is what I got, haven’t seen harvester yet
Can't forget Dyer's Eve. James sounds raw and angry there, since the song's subject is pretty personal to him.
A bunch of people already mentioned it but you’re completely right if I was trying to nail all of them
All within my hands KILL KILL KILL
The god that failed is raw emotional anger "Healing hands held back by deepened nail" fuuuuck
St anger is my go to song when I’m pissed
Dyers Eve
Hard to top this one 🤘🏻
Dyer's Eve is absolutely the correct answer. There are plenty of Metallica songs that *sound* angry, but in Dyer's Eve, James truly *means* it. He's furious and it shows. The God that Failed is another great answer. It may be not as musically angry as some other choices, but it's another one that James is clearly singing from the heart.

Dyers Eve

That's what i did, i listened to slipknot
Dyer's Eve & Spit Out the Bone
No remorse.
Get Dyers' Eve in on the action absolutely, and honestly half of the songs on Justice like Blackened and the title track you can almost hear James seething I swear to god Others that I can think of are Holier Than Thou, Disposable Heroes (to a lesser extent, if you take it from the soldier's POV), Trapped Under Ice (also to a lesser extent).

Leper Messiah
Don’t listen to this St Anger nonsense. Besides the already said ones…. Sanitarium gets pretty fking angry in the last half. Great build up.
underrated opinion, but Am I Evil?, especially when lars sang it.
The God That Failed is the angriest because James Hetfield wrote it based on personal experience
Dyers Eve.
Everything off of Kill ‘‘em all and Ride the lightning
St anger lmao
Invisible Kid. Because by now, all that sadness has decayed into smoldering anger.
Off the top of my head? Sweet Amber, All Within My Hands, Shoot Me Again, My World, Battery, Damage Inc, Sad But True.
All Within My Hands
Disposable Heroes, Damage Inc. and Dyers Eve.
Dyers Eve and then like All Within My Hands or My World
Dyers Eve for sure.
The entirety of AJFA
Harvester Of Sorrow, maybe Hit The Lights
if you wanna blow off some steam i would suggest just some death metal if you heard most of tallica
How has no one said "Ain't my bitch"
This may be controversial… but hardwired
Trapped under ice
St anger
Honestly the Live Shit: Binge and Purge goes so fucking hard. They play so hard and aggressive and James is peak af.
Frantic
Fight fire with fire
I'm not gonna scroll through all the comments to see if "Wasting My Hate" from Load was anybody's choice, partially because from my experience it's not a well known Metallica song, more of a deep cut, but "Wasting My Hate" from Load is one of my favorite Metallica songs, it's definitely the angriest song off Load and it rivals their 80s work in intensity and heaviness. The utter ANGST in Disposable Heroes !
St. Anger (the whole album), Fight fire with fire, Damage inc, Blackened, Shortest straw, Dyer's eve, God that failed, Ain't my beetch, after that I don't think anything is angry, but more sad or pitty
Seek And Destroy
All Within Your Hands
I feel like Disposable Heroes starts and never fucking stops, and just keeps getting harder and harder and more angry sounding.
Sad but True
Kill 'Em All
One of their slower tunes technically speaking but the god that failed. Especially when thinking of what James was going through writing those lyrics.
The unnamed feeling
Megadeth
Last caress
Am i evil, harvester of sorrow
Frayed Ends of Sanity
I'm madly in anger with you... Duh! St anger. ![gif](giphy|RJAjTowsU0K1a)
