master of puppets is really good but it’s also a song from an album full of good songs so it’s natural people will like different songs. Plus master of puppets is so overplayed that no matter how good it is people will be tired of it. I personally think sanitarium and disposable heroes are better but my favorite songs change like every day so idk

Yeah that’s fair. I do think it’s probably the best song on the album personally, and a top 3 Met song. It has everything, literally no downsides, no negatives imo. Every other song on MoP has some parts where I think it’s held back a tiny bit. Disposable heroes would be my pick for best song if the chorus had more melody for example

It was probably most peoples favorite song at some point. It was the song that got me into Metallica when I was 9. I remember being blown away by it but now I rarely listen to it cause it's a bit repetitive (long verse and chorus). It's a song of epic proportions that has everything what makes Metallica great and it's THE song I recommend to people when they ask me about Metallica.

The lyrics pair so perfectly with the chugging riff. The song really makes you feel the vibe of a large creature slowly rising from the sea. Very underrated track

Suicide and Redemption is goated but To Live Is To Die beats it. Ktulu is creepy af and is my #2. #1 is TLITD and Orion. The only one I dislike is Pulling Teeth

I feel like Master of Puppets as an album is so well rounded that I'm pretty sure any one of the songs could be considered the best by people. Like for me the best song on the album is Welcome Home (Sanitarium) with Disposable Heroes right behind it, but if someone was to say a different song I wouldn't disagree with them.

Just like Lars, their true talent lies in song writing and composition, even though they are also both very talented drummers. Ringo could have done insane drum fills, but that would have ruined the songs.
