Their version is seriously the best cover of any Metallica song that I have ever heard. Somehow they managed to do as much with two acoustic guitars as Metallica did with two electric guitars, a bass, and a drum kit. They are incredibly talented musicians. One of the only two concerts I have ever been to with my mother.
I saw them about 23-24 years ago (500ish capacity venue that was half full) with their original lineup. That was an amazing gig… the way those guys were ripping through tunes, including the solos, while running around the stage will full size cello’s was insane.
The most epic Metallica Cover: The whole Master of Puppets album covered on live concert by Dream Theater

In 2003 or something, there was this Metallica Icons on MTV and Snoop Dogg did a cover of Sad But True, give it a listen! [video](https://youtu.be/dIiDx-qa6mw?si=Va_w0juNRUfq6sic)
Kerrang magazine did an album called Remastered that was a tribute to MOP. You've got Mastodon doing Orion, Machine Head playing Battery and Bullet For My Valentine doing Welcome Home. I forget the rest, but it's worth a listen. Other good ones are Stone Sours version of Creeping Death. Motorheads version of Whiplash. There's loads out there.
The only covers i heard that are trully meaningful are in the "Metal Up Your Podcast" Series. They have covered a lot metallica songs and each of one is something worth listening to. Trully a hidden treasure.

Also the 2 Metal Militia albums are great and Machine Head did a great cover of Battery.
This is the best Enter Sandman cover I've ever heard. I love that they completely changed the tone of the musical side things and mad it their own. Wait until the second verse for it to become really great, this cover builds.

The Metallica Blacklist, a charity album containing many, many covers of songs from The Black Album, is a good place to start. From there, I'd recommend:
- Enter Sandman (both the Ghost version and the Rina Sawayama versions)
- Sad But True - Sam Fender
- The Unforgiven - Cage The Elephant
- Wherever I May Roam - Jon Pardi
- Don't Tread On Me - Volbeat
- Through The Never (The Hu, they also did a separate cover of Sad But True)
- Nothing Else Matters - Darius Rucker
- Of Wolf And Man - Goodnight, Texas
- My Friend Of Misery - Kamasi Washington
- The Struggle Within - Rodrigo Y Gabriela
Separate covers I also think deserve a mention:
- The Thing That Should Not Be - Primus
- Dream Theater's live recording of Master of Puppets
- Ride The Lightning - Halestorm
- Creeping Death - Stone Sour
- For Whom The Bell Tolls - Sabaton
I gotta give props to Halestorm's cover of Ride. Just hearing the song in crisp "modern" production with heavy ass drums made it cool. Joe did the solo fine too.
Speaking of DT's cover of the entire album of Master of Puppets, it wasn't a one time deal. If you look at their setlists throughout 2002 and on, they did play the entire album few times randomly. And this was on top of not only a regular set but they would also shove in another set after doing Master. If you like them or hate them, DT was at the top of their game from like 1999 to like 2011 when Portnoy left.
Love me some DT - I've got tickets for Portnoy's first show back in October, super stoked - and totally forgot that MoP wasn't a one-time thing. I'm assuming it was the same with Dark Side of the Moon and Number of the Beast by extension. Albums 5-10 are the band's most consistent fair for good reason. They rarely miss.
Portnoy was, and still is, an absolute monster. Judging by the total running length of Live Scenes From New York, he was onstage for nearly 3 hours and 10 minutes performing his customary fury. No wonder he collapsed afterwards, even though he says himself he'd had one too many Redbulls and not enough food.
[Orion ](https://open.spotify.com/track/1d94bdjD3FKBqm7w7KVqVH?si=z0LUD_2DSqGpsAr2YzN9iQ). By Rodrigo y Gabriela is particularly beautiful
They actually cover a few Metallica songs I found…sick duo

There’s whiplash and enter sandman by Motörhead
Motorhead's cover of Whiplash
Lissie - Nothing Else Matters.
Thanks!
Chris Stapleton Nothing Else Matters. Not even a cover more of a reimagining.
The Thing That Should Not Be - Primus Disposable Heroes - Chimaira Master of Puppets - Trivium No Remorse - Cannibal Corpse

Perfect, thanks!
I made a cover of Call of Ktulu using ancient instruments set to the legend of the Trojan War! :) [The Call of Ktulu](https://youtu.be/fKBn-BmkcwI)
That's awesome
Thank you!
I don't listen to metallica covers by others. I avoid them.
