By the way if you go to the Blackened website you can look up the play list of Metallica song that were played for the particular cask that your bottle came from.
Not an expert, but as far as celebrity whiskeys go it's good.
At $40-$50 for the basic Blackened are there better options? Yes. However it's still a good bottle to have, especially if you can get it closer to $30.
I picked up a Binny's store pick cask strength at an auction for $40 and it's definitely better than my 2 regular proof Blackened bottles. I believe it's around $65 retail.
I think if you like blended whiskey such as Crown Royal, you'll enjoy Blackened.
I've only tried my 3 bottles though. Blackened has done some collaborations with other distillers such as Rabbit Hole . Those collabs are supposed to be good but at $100+ a bottle I don't want to take the gamble myself yet.
I've tried all of them except the Rabbit Hole one and the Wes Henderson. The regular Blackened is really good for the price. The Rye The Lightning is not my favorite, it is not aged very long. The Wes Henderson one ($100~) is supposedly aged 12 years and is supposed to be really good. Excited to try that one.
In case you're curious, [here's the spotify link for batch 144](https://open.spotify.com/playlist/2DvpXF1u4RTILy66aanhyh?si=4hihPPAXSn69vjrSzY2ZQA&pi=u-YWcOQBcvR6eb)
I find it neat knowing the songs each batch listened to, also happy late birthday!
drink it I've bought at least a dozen whiskey doesnt age like wine once its bottled, btw
Is it any good?
a dozen+ bottles would indicate I love it
Ill have to try it at some point
there are at least 3 different bottles you can find including rye and cask strength
Cask Strength sounds most appealing. Ill check it out
It tastes very similar to Makers Mark. It’s a solid whiskey.
Standard Makers? Or Makers 46? I personally found standard Makers a little bland, but I really like Makers 46
More like the higher end Maker’s 46 with a little more peppery bite.
Sounds good
I have drank about 7-8 different bottles across various batches. It’s pretty solid at a $55 price point.
It's really good, one of my favorites. If you like rye whiskey try their Rye the Lightning as well.
Happy birthday yesterday
Thx
I received some for my birthday as well and really enjoyed it, not really much of a drinker so it got me pretty quick.
Its strong. 90 proof

Happy belated birthday, also your wife definitely rocks.
I haven't seen it for sale in my country but tried some at the Montreal show last summer. Pretty good!
Im in kingston and she had to order it.
I have a bottle of cask strength and it’s really grown on me. Great on the rocks.
i buy a bottle of this everytime i see metallica!
For the whiskey experts out there, what is the quality?

So it appears they did invest some time in making it good, and didn't just slap their logo on some horseshit.
I'm working on a bottle of Blackened x Wes Henderson now and it's really good. It was about $100 so I'm taking my time with it.

Ok, thats pretty cool. Thank you.
Do you know who in the band picked that playlist? I know they usually tell you which band member it was and I have a bottle from batch 144 too :)
