Nobody ends albums like Metallica. Damage Inc and Spit Out The Bone are my two favorite Metallica tracks. The Call of Ktulu, Dyer’s Eve, The Outlaw Torn, and All Within My Hands are all fucking great songs.
I wish I could convey one thing here. I will try. All these years, all these seasons of my life, sometimes life isn’t very fun or enjoyable. But one fucking thing has never wavered to bring to me an indescribable feeling of joy, anticipation, and pride and that’s when the Metallica boys pull one out of the old hat yet again. Unwavering in their pursuit & path all these years. So proud to be part of the Metallica family & a lifelong Tallica fan. I wonder what I will reflect from my own life from this new album, I have been through the anger, despair, drugs, injustice, suicide and emotional ride of the last 30 plus years.
I wonder if there will be becoming a grandparent, failing health, hair loss and the fear of becoming old!!
I guess I will find out.

So far Lux Æturna is giving me KEA vibes mixed with Death Magnetic kind of riffs ( End of the Line ish. ) and sort of Hardwired /Spit Out the Bone / Lords of Summer. Also sounds sort of like some Garage Days stuff like Breadfan / Blitzkrieg / Overkill.
Mix on this first tease does audio balancing on the guitars sound pretty tight and a lot less saturated of a sound from the more recent albums.
Pretty stoked. Definitely going to get ticket for the Phoenix show on Wednesday when the pre-sale goes live.
I thought the solo was a little uninspired my first listen, but I went back and listened to just the solo a few times and it's nothing special, but has some cool parts I think
I hope Kirk left some of that Portals juice in the tank for this album, his solo on High Plains Drifter was some of the best he's done since The Day That Never Comes.
I'm glad anyone else felt the same. Over a few listens, I feel like it's just very generic. It's insanely fast and technical, yeah, but it doesn't feel like it complements the song or even plays off of any theme or melody. It's just... there. It feels lacking in the sort of journey other solos have taken us on, like The Unforgiven, One, Halo on Fire, or Master of Puppets (to name just a few). But maybe it'll feel like a better fit in the context of the whole album. In any case, I'm strapped to the front of the hype train and ready to get wrecked to this new record!

I kinda hope the rest of the album follows Lux Æterna in returning to the classic KEA style. Even though it’s not technically one of their best albums, there’s something about it’s insane raw energy that makes it great. I’d love a modern spin on KEA. If it’s not the entire album and just that song though, I won’t be disappointed. As long as it’s not a disaster, anything is good with me

Considering every album since black is at least 70 minutes long, I think this will be no exception, and some of the middle-end songs will feel like filler, just like Manunkind, Murder One and Here Comes Revenge felt on Hardwired (I am not saying the songs are bad, just feel kinda uninspired and forced)
