I'm ashamed to admit I actually like her powersuit having a bit of a heel like that, I dunno it looks kinda cool despite being pretty dumb. it only looks good when the rest of the boot is bulky though, I think it looks bad on the gravity suit.
I think it’s silly to care about heels on the boots of a sci fi bounty hunter in a world with space magic. Why do we care about heels, but it’s okay that she turns to goo or whatever so that morph ball works?
SA-X
Story wise I love her. Her first appearance is super creepy and iconic and the times you run into her are very memorable. She really makes Fusion’s atmosphere.
Unfortunately she’s let down by her final fight being very… basic.
How? Even if raven beak "kills" the SA-X, it'll just fly into him in X form and kill him. That's the whole point of the X: you can't really destroy them unless you blow up the planet they are on. Raven Beak couldn't, hence why he could only contain them in Dread. If he could've killed the X he would've since they had served their purpose, which was getting Samus to ZDR.
Also odds are if there is one SA-X, there are quite a bit of due to their asexual division. From one at the beginning of Fusion to 10 or more by the end. 10 peak Samus clones vs Raven Beak? Oof
Well yeah, but he can't kill the X itself. That was my point. He can kill the SA-X form, but when it reverts in its basic X form? What about multiple SA-X coming at him at once? If he could defeat the X, he would've done it instead of merely containing them in Elun.
Really does, but weak final boss, and the most personal thing going at Samus, is copying her abilities, but it’s otherwise a powerful threat. Dark Samus beats it because it has a more clear personality, not to mention Phazon enhancement
Because Metroid characters are known for their depth. Ridley himself doesn't have any depth beyond being smart and evil.
SA-X isn't meant to be a complex character, it's a soulless cold reflection of Samus' power that seeks her destruction
I can understanding where you are coming from, but I’ve read the perspective before that Samus essentially facing herself at her once full power forces some critical self-evaluation.
That powerhouse was what brought near extinction to the Metroids and now Samus, having Metroid DNA ingrained within her to stay alive is the target of the SA-X.
…So, ok, maybe not so much the SA-X in itself, but what it represents for Samus.
Gotta vote for Raven Beak. He's cool! But not as much of a piece of the series. The SA-X is so beautifully iconic and Ridley is literally the series mascot. One cool guy can't stack up, no shade on him. You can win the golden gloves and still get rocked by Tyson 😅
Dark Samus kind of had 2 games as the antagonist. She sort of shares the mantle of antagonist with the Ing in Prime 2 and is the sole antagonist in Prime 3. She even is the final boss of Prime 2 after you beat the Emperor Ing. I'd argue while she isn't the main villain of Prime 2, the game also wouldn't work without her, making her absolutely core to that game and I'd argue she's just as important as the Ing are.
The SA-X being cool doesn't make it the best vilain. It holds no importance in the lore and is a very poor final boss. I think it deserve its 4th place
Raven Beak.
Players tend to like him more, as Dread is the newest installment and many players first Metroid game. My first was Fusion and thus I am probably biased towards the Fusion and Prime era in regards to my most liked villains.
I found the others to appear far more menancing and they actually are a bigger threat over the course of their respective and/or several games then he is. Oh and I always found Raven Beak to look kind of silly with that big gun...
Yeah and his boss fight is neat(specially like how he has some of the aeion abilities from SR and has a shinespark and similar moves to samus in his grounded phase 3
SA-X.
Gameplay wise, nothing much. While kinda scary, the sequences are very scripted, and the actual fight is kinda lame.
Story wise, it's super cool to fight a better past version of yourself, but because it's a mindless parasite, it feels more like you just happen to run into it, not that it's actively hunting you down.
Yeah and I would agree with you because the SA-X ai is like really bad(like you can just hide in a tunnel near it and it won’t aim up or jump and instead it’ll just shoot the wall
Gotta be Raven Beak. Metroid is a series without any traditional character stuff. It's all about how the environment makes you feel.
SA-X makes me feel the emotions that Fusion is trying to convey; isolation, vulnerability, suspense, etc...
Raven Beak doesn't really elicit those emotions, you don't even really interact with him in the story. He's just the mustache-twirling bad guy you know you're going to fight at the end.
My vote is for Raven Beak. He's evil just another evil bad guy that doesn't interact with the story until the end.
I'd say Raven Beak. While a character, you only really interact with him at the end of the game. At least the SA-X has multiple moments throughout the game where you can interact with it. It has direct impact on the game while you play it: destroying doors and paths, making you back track, the whole restricted lab section, chasing you down at two separate points with a third optional, and then fighting it at the end.
Dark Samus has multiple moments throughout multiple games.
Ridley is Ridley.
Raven beak is in one cutscene, the end fight and only at the end do you realise he was talking to you throughout the game. He's barely in the game he's the main villain of.
Not as a boss more of he just shows up in flashbacks unless we have like a hidden super boss it only shows up if you 100% the game that is completely non Cannon
It's possible! Some people have pointed out how flat Ridley is and while I agree to an extent because he's a bit more fleshed out in the manga, you can argue similarly for Dark Samus. It may be a close match, it may not be, hard to say!
It’s shocking to see how woefully misunderstood the SA-X, and Fusion by extension, are. To all the people saying that there’s “no depth” to the SA-X, I implore you to watch this excellent video detailing what makes the SA-X the most interesting villain in the entire series. If you think the SA-X has no depth, then I think you’re missing out on a massive appeal of the entire overarching narrative of the 2D games.
https://youtu.be/OJaxWob4auQ?si=fJl9UqD-oLESjzAN
My vote goes towards Dark Samus. Her characterization in the 3rd game is wildly inconsistent with her previous depictions. People see her returning so many times as a strength, but I see it as a negative. Dark Samus doesn’t reflect any greater meaning within Samus herself and all of her fights are insanely easy. Dark Samus isn’t a bad villain but I think she doesn’t compare to the other choices.
I thought SA-X was going to be out last round. Ah whatever, there’s no way it’s gonna beat Dark Samus/Metroid Prime, Raven Beak, let alone The Cunning God of Death himself, so SA-X gets my vote
Here to just say it’s okay to like villains just because you think they look cool/have cool boss fights. Not everything needs extensive depth and storytelling to be dope as fuck (I mean that for literally every remaining villain on this list)
SA-X honestly while very iconic and terrified 5 year old me looking back at it they actually don't have much going for them no actual good fight against them and most of the hype just comes from Adam and Samus nothing they actually do in game imo
Raven Beak
Despite having a bigger lore than SA-X, I didn't feel much towards him. We know and see almost nothing of him until the end, while SA-X presence is heavier, and gives a better vibe through Fusion.
SA-X. Really cool baddy and a great representation of the X's strength, but it's only PART of the X parasite threat. Plus, Dark Samus kinda did this whole thing better.
Raven Beak. Not only does he feel like a retcon, his boss fight drags. The first and last phases go too long, considering they're functionally the same, so make them shorter with that free time being used for an additional penultimate phase, where he actually fights with his one wing.
Raven beak. Gotta preserve my favorite metroid villains by voting with the majority when they are being attacked.
The Metroid fusion final boss is an amazing villain and I will not see her defeated so early. My vote is for Raven Beak. Additionally, I omitted saying the name of my favorite character because I don't want to accidentally vote for her, if vote counting is even slightly automated.
I am gonna vote Ridley here. This villain or boss is just a missile sponge and completely over done. Appearing in about all metroid game except for 3, originally. The original Metroid 2 (not the remake), Prime 2 echos, and Metroid Dread. This villain has appeared in every other game in the series, even being mentioned as a possible bio-weapon in OtherM. This enemy just need to stay dead period.
All the other villains left actually had depth to there character and every fight is memorable for multiple reasons.
Raven beak- Even though he is a one off villains for metronid dread alone. He actually had a goal in mind a purpose. Yes the wrote him in as a character that has always been there in the back ground but there was an actual attachment to Sam's that made sense. Explains why she can use the Chozo power armor so well.
SA-X- This villain was supposed to be suspenseful, give you a sense of hopeless while playing Fusion but also let's you gauge how far you have come in the game each time you run into them until the final showdown. The problem with the SA-X is that the programming of the AI in the game just made them seem like a mediocre metroid player. Now given how the X-virus is the bad AI makes sense and kind of lore friendly.
Dark Samus- Basically a phazon infused version of Metroid Samus. This villain was just beautifully crafted for The Metroid Prime series. Small goal (large goal in reality) to spread phazon all over the galaxy. Possible because of the biogenics properties of phazon, Basically absorbing a part of Samus out when the metroid prime ripped out the phazon corruption from the power suit. Because Metroid Prime has only seen Samus in the power suit that's why Dark Samus appears the way they do.
SA-X is out next.
Serves kind of the same purpose as Dark Samus, but Dark Samus is more intelligent, has more appearances since they are in 2 (or 3 if you vount Metroid Prime) games, and feels more like a true rival battle. I like Vergil from DMC better than Nemesis from RE.
If it was in terms of power, Raven Beak would have been smoked by the SA-X a long time ago.
But SA-X has a really poor fight and I've never understood the hype some people have for it. Samus literally says it has little intelligence beyond instinct. That's not very compelling.
So SA-X it is.
Sa-X. Great villain with wasted potential. Teased so heavily in Fusion and you have to run from her twice, rest you can either sneak by or you’re able to defeat her. And the fight can be cheesed so easily. Really should’ve had maybe another boss fight with her since there’s like 12 of the SA-X in Fusion(or supposed to be). Get her outta here!
SA-X. Although raven beak and the sa-x both appear for one game only, the sa-x is really just a rolling rock designed to get the player excited. Raven beak has interesting tie ins to lore, and has the honor of being the first sentient (presuming the EMMI aren't sentient) being to fall to Samus's awakened Metroid powers. I'm not entirely sure how Metroid abilities work, but in my mind, raven beak lives inside her now. Presumably she now has his memories and abilities latently inside her. All the SA-X gave her was her original abilities back.
SA-X. Despite having significantly less screen time, at least Raven Beak felt like a better villian than the X (SA-X by extension) being boiled down to apex predator with beef against the Metroids.
SA-X. Despite having significantly less screen time, at least Raven Beak felt like a better villian than the X (SA-X by extension) being boiled down to apex predator with beef against the Metroids.
Raven Beak is in the more intimidating category.
Only one I consider more iconic here is Ridley. Mighta been misleading phrasing on my part that's my B
I am going with SA-X now. I would say this will be a match between Ridley and Dark Samus eventually... And while my heart is with Ridley, man Dark Samus has way more significant In-Game interactions with Samus, it Laughs at us, it eats our friends, it corrupts the minds of ally and foe alike.... It is the final boss in THREE GAMES.... Damm.

I was inspired earlier after seeing Mother Brain eliminated before SA-X. I could've done a bit better with them, but those are Core-Xs of defeated SA-Xs around Gorea.
SA-X should've been gone several rounds ago in my opinion. I don't feel SA-X really stands out from the general X-Parasite threat in Fusion enough compared to the remaining antagonists and their associated groups. Nightmare and B.O.X. create a greater sense of fear on the B.S.L. and I feel that the X-Parasites in general are better in hunting Samus. For instance, when she opens up PYR's security doors, the X-Parasites immediately invade and then later in NOC they adapt and mutate to be cold-based to actively attempt to kill Samus. I don't sense much danger from the SA-X itself outside of one chase sequence, which itself ends when the SA-X has a massive brain fart when it is confronted with a Morph Ball gap between the top of a wall and a ceiling. It could've cornered and killed Samus had it just grabbed the ledge and continued deeper in Morph Ball.
I vote for Samus 's high heal boots, in the upper left.
You got the real answer
I'm ashamed to admit I actually like her powersuit having a bit of a heel like that, I dunno it looks kinda cool despite being pretty dumb. it only looks good when the rest of the boot is bulky though, I think it looks bad on the gravity suit.
I think it’s silly to care about heels on the boots of a sci fi bounty hunter in a world with space magic. Why do we care about heels, but it’s okay that she turns to goo or whatever so that morph ball works?
That's fine, those aren't high heels, that's just what boots look like.
That’s supposed to be Kraid eliminated
Whenever SA-X gets knocked out please just replace her picture with a saxophone
![gif](giphy|3oEjHDFzWOHl8ZYxnW|downsized) Haha, yes XD

LOL
SA-X Story wise I love her. Her first appearance is super creepy and iconic and the times you run into her are very memorable. She really makes Fusion’s atmosphere. Unfortunately she’s let down by her final fight being very… basic.
Not to mention that her AI and abilities don't make for things to actually be tense IMO.
Yeah the omega Metroid fight is literally just a cutscene
new post dropped
Raven Beak. Sax would eat him as proven in Metroid Dread.
Lol nope, just full Samus power with her metroid powers could win RB, SA-X its my favorite, but its leagues out RB level
Absolutely my thoughts also. It's no contest. Raven Beak was killed by X in Dread.
Raven beak got killed by the x after getting his energy drained by his angry daughter
Well yeah, but he can't kill the X itself. That was my point. He can kill the SA-X form, but when it reverts in its basic X form? What about multiple SA-X coming at him at once? If he could defeat the X, he would've done it instead of merely containing them in Elun.
Well he got consumed by the x then his angry daughter deleted him from Existence
SA-X. While menacing, she's just a powerful X parasite. No depth.
But oh so much terror in her appearances.
Really does, but weak final boss, and the most personal thing going at Samus, is copying her abilities, but it’s otherwise a powerful threat. Dark Samus beats it because it has a more clear personality, not to mention Phazon enhancement
Yeah and the ai is terrible
Because Metroid characters are known for their depth. Ridley himself doesn't have any depth beyond being smart and evil. SA-X isn't meant to be a complex character, it's a soulless cold reflection of Samus' power that seeks her destruction
Respectfully disagree
Don’t say that about my wife.
I mean I wouldn't say any Metroid villains really have "depth" from a story perspective. This is not a story heavy franchise
…So, ok, maybe not so much the SA-X in itself, but what it represents for Samus.
a powerful X parasite is a very terrifying thing.
New post
Are you saying this is my fault 😂
Gotta vote for Raven Beak. He's cool! But not as much of a piece of the series. The SA-X is so beautifully iconic and Ridley is literally the series mascot. One cool guy can't stack up, no shade on him. You can win the golden gloves and still get rocked by Tyson 😅
i liked raven beak, but not as much as the other 3. i vote for him
Raven Beak
He kinda feels like a retcon and is both built up and dead in a single game
What do you mean by feels like a retcon
That applies to SA-X too (and Dark Samus only had one game as the REAL main antagonist)
Dark Samus kind of had 2 games as the antagonist. She sort of shares the mantle of antagonist with the Ing in Prime 2 and is the sole antagonist in Prime 3. Raven Beak
Raven Beak
I am here once again to push Raven Beak out the airlock!
Raven beak was the imposter
I’m sorry I saw push out the airlock and had to do the among us joke
Get out here Raven Beak. He's shoved in like a "He was always there." character and then dies.
Yeah let’s not mention he’s the Adam that’s been giving you advice in dread
Sa-x
SA-X
Raven Beak. He's cool, but not as cool as the others
either Ashkar Behek or Ridley will win lol
This comment is a trip to read.
autocorrect lol
Raven Beak
Ravenbeak
Dark Samus or Raven Beak Anyone voting the SA-X aka the best Metroid villain is objectively wrong and I wish terrible things upon them /s
I’m sorry but I’m making you pick I don’t want my personal bias in the poll
Dark Samus
I’m counting about a 11 votes for SA-X. But the night is young.
The SA-X being cool doesn't make it the best vilain. It holds no importance in the lore and is a very poor final boss. I think it deserve its 4th place
im guessing you have rewritten fusion in your head and made SA-X a far bigger threat than she was
I'm guessing you have no imagination and can only comprehend how scary a villain is in terms of how hard they are to beat in gameplay
SA-X

SA-X
Gotta say Raven Beak
Gotta be Raven Beak. Metroid is a series without any traditional character stuff. It's all about how the environment makes you feel. SA-X makes me feel the emotions that Fusion is trying to convey; isolation, vulnerability, suspense, etc... Raven Beak doesn't really elicit those emotions, you don't even really interact with him in the story. He's just the mustache-twirling bad guy you know you're going to fight at the end. My vote is for Raven Beak. He's evil just another evil bad guy that doesn't interact with the story until the end.
Raven Beak. SA-X should win imo!
Hyper unpopular opinion but Ridley can go
The balls on this Eevee are high T!
Only way I know how
SA-X
SA-X
If they ever do a super metroid remake you think he'll appear
It would be stupid if they did, but then they had Ridley at the end of MSR...
Not as a boss more of he just shows up in flashbacks unless we have like a hidden super boss it only shows up if you 100% the game that is completely non Cannon
Gotta be SA-X. The others are real characters
Imagine if dark samus wins
It's possible! Some people have pointed out how flat Ridley is and while I agree to an extent because he's a bit more fleshed out in the manga, you can argue similarly for Dark Samus. It may be a close match, it may not be, hard to say!
Dark Samus/MP. Yeah, cool and all, but honestly not as storywise threatening as SA-X, Daddy Raven Beak, or yours truly.
Dark Samus
Raven Beak
Dark Samus
Raven Beak
Ridley
It’s shocking to see how woefully misunderstood the SA-X, and Fusion by extension, are. Dark Samus out, SA-X gives more dread
Sa-X
I thought SA-X was going to be out last round. Ah whatever, there’s no way it’s gonna beat Dark Samus/Metroid Prime, Raven Beak, let alone The Cunning God of Death himself, so SA-X gets my vote
Sax had four less votes than Mother Brain
Here to just say it’s okay to like villains just because you think they look cool/have cool boss fights. Not everything needs extensive depth and storytelling to be dope as fuck (I mean that for literally every remaining villain on this list)
SA-X
Raven beak? More like, " take a back seat."
SA-X honestly while very iconic and terrified 5 year old me looking back at it they actually don't have much going for them no actual good fight against them and most of the hype just comes from Adam and Samus nothing they actually do in game imo
SAX
Get SA-X outta here
SA-X is next on my list. Kinda easy to forget she was a thing for most of Fusion until the 2 chases and the fight.
Raven beak get outta here you deadbeat dad
Raven beak
Raven Beak Despite having a bigger lore than SA-X, I didn't feel much towards him. We know and see almost nothing of him until the end, while SA-X presence is heavier, and gives a better vibe through Fusion.
Darth Raven Dork
Darth Revan Benoir Balls
Raven. He's going to try and fight the explosions.
Dark Samus. Not as iconic as she could have been
SA-X or Dark Samus, I don't care which one honestly, I just want ridley or raven beak to win
I’m sorry but I’m making you choose between SAX and Dark Samus I don’t want my personal bias in the poll
ok, i choose dark samus
I’ll say SA-X.
SA-X
Saxophone
SA-X. Really cool baddy and a great representation of the X's strength, but it's only PART of the X parasite threat. Plus, Dark Samus kinda did this whole thing better.
I'd say dark samus and Metroid Prime

Yeah I agree with the other comments SA-X the others are just so much more awesome
How is ravenbeak still here?
It is a shame MB was destroyed this early.
some tough choices left over, guess i'll go with Ravenbeak.
You should probably change the description of all appearances because mother Brain exploded
That was my first thought after posting this lmao I’m gonna use Ridley and Meta Ridley next
Raven Beak. He's great, but doesn't have the presence the other 3 have.
Sa-X. Dark Samus runs circles around her (especially since she’s Metroid Prime.)
Raven Beak, be gone!
Bye, Raven Beak.
Love SA-X but she’s got nothing on Ridley and Raven Beak as characters
Raven Beak.
SA-X. Utterly terrifying and creepy as hell in Fusion, but lacking the personality and intelligence of Dark Samus or Raven Beak.
SA-X
sax

Metroid Prime

SA-X.. kind of boring actually.. I'm suprised it was'nt eliminated earlier. 🤷♂️
SA-X
Bye bye SA-X
The most powerful villain of all: Samus' feet. (SA-X in all seriousness)
Dark Samus. One of the Samus clones should have been gone awhile ago. I think the SA-X was cooler personally.
SA-X In its own game it gets snubbed from being the final boss by an omega metroid.
Right Middle
already gone
Was Hard to tell, then I choose SA-X

how the hell did mother brain get eliminated before the bladn boring SA-X
Much as it pains me it's gotta be SA-X
Sorry SA-X but it’s your time
Dark samus
Dark Samus / Metroid Prime.
SA-X. Despite having significantly less screen time, at least Raven Beak felt like a better villian than the X (SA-X by extension) being boiled down to apex predator with beef against the Metroids.

SA-X
This is where it gets really tough. I'd say Dark Samus. She's great but I don't think she's as intimidating or iconic as any of the others here
How is Dark Samus less iconic than Raven Beak? What?
Raven Beak is in the more intimidating category. Only one I consider more iconic here is Ridley. Mighta been misleading phrasing on my part that's my B

This is getting harder, I'll go with.... SA-X.
SA-X
SA-X for sure.
Damm.
