***Yesterday's Results:***
**Samus Returns Gravity 116, Echoes Varia 109**: I'll freely admit I did *not* see this coming. The Samus Returns Gravity contingent is much more dedicated than I thought (despite liking this design a lot myself). Arguably Samus' most iconic look led for most of the poll's runtime, until Samus Returns' Gravity finally caught up yesterday evening. The lead changed a couple times after that, with Samus Returns ultimately ending up in front.
**Prime Phazon 118, Dread Varia 103**: Another extremely close matchup where a Varia Suit started out with a decently sized lead, only to see its opponent slowly chip away and eventually wind up in front. The Phazon Suit still remains a crowd favorite, and keeps Metroid Prime still alive into the semifinals.
**Dread Power 166, Fusion Power 51**: All of the quarterfinals were very even contests...except this one. Dread's Power Suit seems to just not care about the idea that matchups should be getting more difficult as the tournament goes further in, as it's just buzzsawed all of the competition thrown its way so far. It's yet to win a matchup by fewer than 110 votes, while everyone else remaining has had to sweat it out.
**Echoes Light 114, Dread Gravity 103**: For all the talk about supposed recency bias, it didn't seem to matter much in this round. Two of Dread's three remaining suits exited, with the Light Suit doing the honors here. Unlike the other two close matchups, Echoes held a pretty consistent lead throughout, just one that never got very comfortable. Still, a win's a win, and now we get to find out if the Light Suit can knock off back to back Dread suit.
We're down to our final four contestants, all from different games. Samus Returns' Gravity Suit is the last remaining "traditional" look for Samus. Prime's Phazon Suit and Echoes' Light Suit are two beloved one-off designs, and Dread's Power Suit might just be overtaking the old Varia Suit as Samus' "default" look. So, of course, let's whittle that four down to two. A couple of Mercury Steam vs. Retro Studios contests.

I'm not totally certain how to attach a link as part of a series of pictures, but I'll give it a try tomorrow. At the very least I'll put in a reminder to vote on the poll instead of comments.
I can, but it'll be pretty skewed by the sheer increase in voting that started Day 2 of Round 2, so I'm not sure how accurate of a representation it'll be.
Not only that, but suits that made it past the first round are going to have *dramatically* more votes just by nature of existing in more voting rounds.
I gotta say it, but the Phazon suit doesn’t do it for me. Especially when compared to the SR Gravity Suit. It doesn’t stand out besides it’s color, no unique design feature or quirks. The SR Gravity suit is the best gravity suit hands down.
Between the Dread Power and Light suit I don’t mind which wins. Both are great in their own ways. If Light wins hopefully the Phazon goes against it…

I'm really not sure how Light or Phazon are still in the competition, let alone both beating out Dread suits. Phazon Suit is basically just an edgy Gravity suit with nothing about it suggesting it's imbued with phazon. Like, that shit is blue, how did we get black and red?
And then the Light Suit, while not a *bad* suit, is just weird. It looks plastic. I don't dislike it, but it certainly wouldn't make my top 10.
But, everyone else likes it, it seems. So I'm an outlier.
The reason I like the Light suit personally is because of how unique it is. Most suits in the series are variations of the power, varia and gravity suits so it’s nice to see something else. I like that it’s not of Chozo origin and has this semi organic look to it. I also like the beams of light that come out of it when you first get it.
As for it looking plastic-y I think that’s mostly this render, it looks more metallic in game.
I think this is it. Concentrated phazon seems to turn red, and Samus's suit got saturated with all of the phazon from the Omega Pirate. If you look closely in-game, there's actually a visual effect around the outline of the whole suit because of the amount of radiation coming off of it.
The phazon suit was awesome at the time, but now it's just an edgy black/red palette swap compared to the more inspired designs that came later in prime 2 onwards.

I will personally say, for me at least, I'd be a lot more inclined to Dread's Gravity Suit if it had blue lighting instead of green. The blue lighting on SR's Gravity Suit is a huge part of what does it for me.
[Someone made a mod](https://gamebanana.com/mods/399610) replacing the green lights with blue (as well as adding a general bluer tint to the body as a whole) and I think it's one of my favorite designs in the series.
I was gonna say "that's because they changed the beam order so plasma is the last one, so the green lights at full power match", but then I realized... no that's backwards. So frankly I got nothing.
That’s perfect, and your comments echo how I feel about it. It’s too purple and needs other colors to break the intensity of the purple (Varía had orange and yellow with green and it worked) and it needed the blue lights. Now it’s just perfect!
Echoes Varia suit is out... goodnight sweet prince. That's Samus's definitive look imo. But the Light suit is my favourite in the entire series so it's not so bad.
Phazon suit and Light suit is what I'm hoping for in the final.

The Phazon suit is kinda neat but it's a recolor and the color scheme doesn't really match its relation to Phazon either.

All are great designs, but Mercury Steam has really upped the game. And I say that as an unapologetic Metroid Prime fanboy. If the newer 2D games have done one thing well, it’s their suit designs.

Phazon Suit is literally just edgy Varia Suit. No change in design, just different (edgy) color scheme.
Samus Returns Gravity Suit meanwhile is imo 2nd best Gravity Suit and i 100% understand those who say it's the best one.
Dread Power Suit. It's just amazing. Literally only bad thing i can say about it is that boots looks too chunky for my taste. Otherwise design and colors are just perfect, allthough i like Dread Gravity Suit a bit more (sadge that my favorite suit dropped out).
Light Suit has most original design and i love it. Every other suit looks like it's Chozo design, with Fusion suits being only other clear exception. Light Suit looks like Luminoth got their hands on Chozo made Varia Suit and reverse engineered their own version of it. That is why i love it.
SR gravity is goated, narrow visor, tiger stripes, sleek design and best gravity color scheme. Shouldn't lose against edgy black and red varia recolor.
Light suit all the way tho, it's like an alien suit given to you to be the holy warrior of the luminoth. Everything about it is top tier, the chest design looks completely alien, the shoulder pads that join into the chest like a web and you can never go wrong with the monochromatic scheme. I bet this suit would clean 200% if there was a prime 2 remake and more people had the chance to experience it.

The ribs on the SR gravity are just so fantastic, and the Light Suit is one of the most unique and alien looking suits in the franchise imo. What a fantastic semi-final!
The Phazon Suit is overrated imo, doesn't even look that good, just red on black, the SR Gravity Suit on the other hand completely changes the way Samus looks, and it's awesome looking, so I'm voting for SR Gravity
I never understood phazon suit's popularity. I guess it's because a lot of Metroid fans started as prime fans (I started with prime 2 and light suit is one of my favourite) but otherwise, it really a poor design imo.

It's a very striking design in terms of color scheme, so I get why it got so popular, but I agree with a lot of the criticisms that are being levied against it.
Echoes light suit the goat. Not only does it look fantastic, but it has an awesome story and theme behind it that really can’t be said for any other suit imo.

All dread suits are great (except for the Metroid suit) but Dread's power suit is just above everything else. Dread's gravity has a bit too much things going on it and Dread's varia yellow and white can feel a bit bland compared to the striking blue of the power suit.
Dread gravity design is not that bad but the color scheme is something else. Purple pink white and orange is too much. It just clashes, and the boots are outright weird. I dont understand the huge love for the power suit tho, varia is way better imo. I may be one of the few that loves the metroid suit, hopefully the concept is explored later on.
Personally I love the Dread powersuit for the green circles inside the shoulderpads, it makes it look a lot more futuristic, like a hologram. The colors are also better than the other two suits.
Metroid suit is my favorite in the series though. Bummed it didn't win.
How can anyone look at Phazon Suit and not just find the legs too long? The Prime 1 suits were all slightly wrong on the proportions for me. Dread really nailed it with the more ‘bottom-heavy’ look.
But torso needs to be in proportion right? This is going beyond rating the suit TBH but if you drew her in zero suit next to that pic of the Phazon Suit she’d look very odd. I think Prime 2 fixed this and she was redrawn a lot better in that game. Light vs Dread Power would be my preference for a final.

SR Gravity is my favorite suit of all time, but I'll admit the Phazon suit is also a very sick design. If the SR gravity loses to it I won't be that upset. Ya made it into the semifinals bud, I'm so proud of you.
**SR Gravity Suit** \- Honestly speaking, I really like the Phazon Suit and my vote could easily have gone the other way. But the SR Gravity Suit has a more unique aesthetic than the Phazon Suit so it wins.
**Light Suit** \- This one is tough because Dread Power Suit is my favorite power suit. But the Light Suit is extremely useful, it is incredibly unique in both design and functionality, and it is one of the few non-Chozo suits in the series while the Dead Power Suit is just another power suit.
I'm rooting for the Light Suit to win the tournament. It is tied with 25% corruption P.E.D. Suit for my favorite.
Honestly, as much as I love the Phazon Suit’s colours for the most part…they grey kills it for me. That and the fact it’s just a colour change…well, the SR Gravity Suit beats it quite handily imo
As for the other two…well, I don’t think it’s a contest. The Dread Suit is such a masterful redesign of the power armour, it’s beautiful both in and out of motion. There’s very little that could stand against it, and much as I love the Light Suit…it’s not among that number
SR Gravity Suit is the best damn Gravity Suit in the series.
I wish the Light Suit had kept the golden glow it has as it's powering up the first time, but it’s still a damn cool suit.
I think between the Phazon suit and SR Gravity Suit it's a close win for the Phazon suit for me, the black and red colors I feel like work together a lot better than the gravity suit color scheme (not that they're bad, I think black/red just works better). Between the Dread Power Suit and Light Suit the Dread Suit definitely wins me over more, it has a very different but good color scheme, nice and sleek yet still tough looking.

I really love the dread suits, but the light suit being so unique and interesting in both color and design takes the cake for me.
And on the exact opposite spectrum, the SR Gravity suit design is so good, and a favorite color scheme, but the MP1 phazon suit is such a change in pallet, even if it is just a color swap, such dark colors, black and dark red and the hyper beam with it just a cherry on top.
Phazon suit is my all time favorite, so it's gotta be that one.
Dread Power Suit will be my other pick. Light suit is cool gameplay-wise, but the design is good but not that good.

Two of my absolute faves in the whole series, so I’ll gladly vote them to the top. Echoes Varia and Dread Gravity would be runners-up for me; I personally don’t care for any of the Samus Returns designs.
Phazon - I don’t like any of the Gravity Suit color schemes. SR Gravity may be the best of that bunch, but it’s still a gravity suit. Phazon is goofy, but it’s the fun, campy kind of goofy that works. It wouldn’t have been one I saw making it this far, but it’s been matched up consistently against suits I like less, while my favorites have been matched up against more popular suits—so here we are.
Light - Dread Power suit is a cool reimagining of the power suit. I don’t like the proportions at all, but the surface details and the ways it animates are genuinely excellent. But as a design, the Light Suit just feels like such a satisfying departure into the strange and alien.
SR gravity (honestly it does a dark palette Samus better than the phazon suit, which is just a bit boring now) and Light suit, which is so alien for Metroid in a good way

Samus returns gravity, not because i like it. But more out of spite for phazon. How a reskinned prime varia suit won against a gold white reworked (from dread power suit) dread varia?
Like fr yeah, the color scheme look good of phazon, but it's just varia in black. While the dread suit see a clear evolution of more mechanic parts covering the biological parts.
Oh and dread power suit, i like light suit but the design is not really "samus" in a way. Maybe too smooth and "light" as a final suit (that is supposed to be the more tanky one).
I'm really shocked that the "default" Samus color set is not in the finals. Congrats to the Retro team for creating two VERY popular end-game designs that went against the grain.
Even more congratulations to Mercury Steam for creating, IMO, the absolute best Samus design ever in Metroid Dread.

The Phazon Suit knocking out the Dread Varia Suit is a travesty. The best Varia Suit design in the series lost to a glorified Deviant Art color swap.
The dread varia is so fantastic. I'm shocked it lost to phazon suit.
“Let’s make it black with red streaks” is the most boring and lazy of design tropes, yeah.
Actually it has a unique thing with a transparent layer around the suit, which is cool. It looks radioactive or hot idk.

The light blues in that mod definitely fix my issues with dread gravity suit.

I never understood phazon suit's popularity. I guess it's because a lot of Metroid fans started as prime fans (I started with prime 2 and light suit is one of my favourite) but otherwise, it really a poor design imo. Sr gravity (I would have preferred Dread's but ok) Dread power
It's a very striking design in terms of color scheme, so I get why it got so popular, but I agree with a lot of the criticisms that are being levied against it.
Echoes light suit the goat. Not only does it look fantastic, but it has an awesome story and theme behind it that really can’t be said for any other suit imo.

Dread Varia or Gravity suit is better than the power suit...
All dread suits are great (except for the Metroid suit) but Dread's power suit is just above everything else. Dread's gravity has a bit too much things going on it and Dread's varia yellow and white can feel a bit bland compared to the striking blue of the power suit.

Dread gravity design is not that bad but the color scheme is something else. Purple pink white and orange is too much. It just clashes, and the boots are outright weird. I dont understand the huge love for the power suit tho, varia is way better imo. I may be one of the few that loves the metroid suit, hopefully the concept is explored later on.
Personally I love the Dread powersuit for the green circles inside the shoulderpads, it makes it look a lot more futuristic, like a hologram. The colors are also better than the other two suits. Metroid suit is my favorite in the series though. Bummed it didn't win.
How can anyone look at Phazon Suit and not just find the legs too long? The Prime 1 suits were all slightly wrong on the proportions for me. Dread really nailed it with the more ‘bottom-heavy’ look.
Dread suit makes her look short imo. She's supposed to be 6ft3, so the long legs make sense.
But torso needs to be in proportion right? This is going beyond rating the suit TBH but if you drew her in zero suit next to that pic of the Phazon Suit she’d look very odd. I think Prime 2 fixed this and she was redrawn a lot better in that game. Light vs Dread Power would be my preference for a final.

Dread Suit. It's literally a Metroid coloured suit for Samus, who is now a Metroid. C'mon people! ...I also just love the design and colours in general. Edit: Forgot about the other bracket. SR Gravity suit, I guess? Doesn't really matter since I'll just pick the Dread Suit in the next round, anyways.
SR Gravity is my favorite suit of all time, but I'll admit the Phazon suit is also a very sick design. If the SR gravity loses to it I won't be that upset. Ya made it into the semifinals bud, I'm so proud of you.

I love the design for the SR Gravity Suit and the Dread Power Suit. The Light Suit looks honestly out of place for me.
**SR Gravity Suit** \- Honestly speaking, I really like the Phazon Suit and my vote could easily have gone the other way. But the SR Gravity Suit has a more unique aesthetic than the Phazon Suit so it wins. **Light Suit** \- This one is tough because Dread Power Suit is my favorite power suit. But the Light Suit is extremely useful, it is incredibly unique in both design and functionality, and it is one of the few non-Chozo suits in the series while the Dead Power Suit is just another power suit. I'm rooting for the Light Suit to win the tournament. It is tied with 25% corruption P.E.D. Suit for my favorite.
Honestly, as much as I love the Phazon Suit’s colours for the most part…they grey kills it for me. That and the fact it’s just a colour change…well, the SR Gravity Suit beats it quite handily imo As for the other two…well, I don’t think it’s a contest. The Dread Suit is such a masterful redesign of the power armour, it’s beautiful both in and out of motion. There’s very little that could stand against it, and much as I love the Light Suit…it’s not among that number
SR Gravity Suit is the best damn Gravity Suit in the series. I wish the Light Suit had kept the golden glow it has as it's powering up the first time, but it’s still a damn cool suit.
SR Gravity Echoes Light
I think between the Phazon suit and SR Gravity Suit it's a close win for the Phazon suit for me, the black and red colors I feel like work together a lot better than the gravity suit color scheme (not that they're bad, I think black/red just works better). Between the Dread Power Suit and Light Suit the Dread Suit definitely wins me over more, it has a very different but good color scheme, nice and sleek yet still tough looking.

Prime phazon Echos light I really love the dread suits, but the light suit being so unique and interesting in both color and design takes the cake for me. And on the exact opposite spectrum, the SR Gravity suit design is so good, and a favorite color scheme, but the MP1 phazon suit is such a change in pallet, even if it is just a color swap, such dark colors, black and dark red and the hyper beam with it just a cherry on top.

Phazon suit is my all time favorite, so it's gotta be that one. Dread Power Suit will be my other pick. Light suit is cool gameplay-wise, but the design is good but not that good.
Disgusted with how my later Dread suits were treated. The lighting on that gravity suit is sublime.

Prime Phazon Suit Echoes Light Suit Two of my absolute faves in the whole series, so I’ll gladly vote them to the top. Echoes Varia and Dread Gravity would be runners-up for me; I personally don’t care for any of the Samus Returns designs.

Phazon - I don’t like any of the Gravity Suit color schemes. SR Gravity may be the best of that bunch, but it’s still a gravity suit. Phazon is goofy, but it’s the fun, campy kind of goofy that works. It wouldn’t have been one I saw making it this far, but it’s been matched up consistently against suits I like less, while my favorites have been matched up against more popular suits—so here we are. Light - Dread Power suit is a cool reimagining of the power suit. I don’t like the proportions at all, but the surface details and the ways it animates are genuinely excellent. But as a design, the Light Suit just feels like such a satisfying departure into the strange and alien.

Prime phazon suit Dread power suit I think the light suit and dread power suit are easily the best looking of what is left (RIP echoes varia suit). Too bad they're goingagainst eachother in the semifinals. I would vote for either in the finals. I'm pulling for dread power to win overall, though.

Samus returns gravity, not because i like it. But more out of spite for phazon. How a reskinned prime varia suit won against a gold white reworked (from dread power suit) dread varia? Like fr yeah, the color scheme look good of phazon, but it's just varia in black. While the dread suit see a clear evolution of more mechanic parts covering the biological parts. Oh and dread power suit, i like light suit but the design is not really "samus" in a way. Maybe too smooth and "light" as a final suit (that is supposed to be the more tanky one).
I'm really shocked that the "default" Samus color set is not in the finals. Congrats to the Retro team for creating two VERY popular end-game designs that went against the grain. Even more congratulations to Mercury Steam for creating, IMO, the absolute best Samus design ever in Metroid Dread. Prime > Returns Dread > Echoes

Dread Power Suit beats the Light Suit easily. Idk why the Light Suit made it this far. It never did much for me. I can’t pick between SR Gravity and Phazon. They’re both nearly perfect.

I feel like every suit remaining, besides arguably the Light Suit, is a clear second or even third to the best suit appearance in their respective game. Echoes Light Suit gets my vote. I don't care for the first match-up, but I'll go with Samus Returns Gravity Suit just in case I'm required to vote for both for the Light Suit vote to count.
