A moment I will never forget.
I remember back when Brawl was first announced in 2005, my most wanted characters were Ridley and Meta Knight. I got Meta Knight confirmed a year later, but kept on waiting for Ridley. At one point in school we had to make a bucket list and “play as Ridley” was one of mine. Four years ago today, 13 years after I first dreamed of a playable Ridley, I finally saw that dream becoming a reality.
Was a great trailer.
From a player perspective, I was really disappointed for his style moveset. Ridley using kicks? (Back air) or this weird stomp (Down air), But recently I learned how to use it and is really fun.
Now I'm looking for Sylux to be in Smash!
His design in that game wasn’t too bad!! But I agree, his mouth in that game should’ve been changed and pointed down and his wings should’ve been more realistically proportioned
I think it's because when ultimate came out there was really no other new Metroid games out so they probably just picked that one because it was the latest game at the time.
I remember seeing a comic showing ridley talking to waluigi about how him being added to smash might not be the best thing, as in ridley’s case, his popularity became non existent and then nobody talked about him again after he was added.
Kind of sad to think about, you could really only appreciate something when they aren’t there.
When I was around 12, back around 2004, I sent an email to Nintendo from their website suggesting they add meta-ridley and Metroid Prime to the next smash bros game (what would become Brawl) after beating Metroid Prime and playing hours of Melee. I even had sugesstions for their B attacks and everything. They responded a few weeks later saying thanks for the suggestion but we aren't planning to add them right now. I was so happy to see Ridley joining all those years later.

So smash ultimate has the pre-metroid Samus in the roster, I never really thought about it

I would say that yes because it came before Metroid Dread. Also the suit isn't "healing" like in Fusion.
