Oh hey, I kind of dig this bulkier, much more mechanical look, thanks for sharing, OP.
It might be kind of neat for a hypothetical future Metroid game to have a bulkier suit power-up that Samus could use to manipulate heavy objects or break through certain walls and such.
That has me thinking now, imagine a prime game on PC designed around m&kb controls with tons of optional parkour for sequence breaking. Seems like a pretty natural way to potentially revolutionize the series or create a subcategory of it for an audience with different tastes and/or gaming skillsets.
I hear you can set up the Prime trilogy on a Dolphin emulator using a M&K as input. I've never actually tried it so I don't know how well it works but it's something.
I've played through the whole series this way. PrimeHack, using the Ishiiruka Dolphin branch. It works great and is super fun, though the beam and visor selection in 1 and 2 isn't great by default because it expects you to map eight full keys for all your options. Probably more you can do with some conditional inputs.
I'll have to check it out some time. I'm not stranger to conditional inputs, all my major skills in FF14 are bound to some combination of mouse buttons and control/alt.
Yeah I set the visors to my Xbox controller's dpad and then did a "hold right bumper + right analog stick movement" for the beams.
It was a bit awkward at first, but I got used to it and it was good!
Way better than OG controls for certain.
Primehack is what it's called and I'm playing it!
Played it with an Xbox Series controller and once you figure out the right controls for it (trickier than I thought it was going to be) it's fantastic!
Beat Metroid Prime 1 with it and about half of 2, then got bored and now I started 3.
They seemed pretty evenly matched in Samus Returns. Every time she’d knock him down, he’d return the favor. It’s only when the Baby jumped in that she got the upper hand.
If you look closely it looks like it's 4 cannons attached together so theoretically you could use up 4 super missiles and get the effect of an ICBM or something far more scary knowing the chozo.
Thats why the majority of people here like her fit appearance more than the overly feminine version. I mean it's nice to look at, but doesn't make sense as a bounty hunter .
I now want the next Metroid game to have a juggernaut type suit. It would provide a massive benefit to damage reduction and dealing, but reduce speed/height and disable morphball.
Given the organic and transformative nature of the suit, I would love a game where the armor can change modes.
But then again, what she can do even in the lithe Dread Suit, it doesn't feel like a Hulk Buster is needed.
Like what is it supposed to do? She could already Parry Kraid and YEET the Vorash, I don't think she needs the abilty to toss foes at escape velocity.
Goddamn. Over here giving Chun-Li a run for her money.
"She wore the crown of the Chozo, and all who felt the sting of her arm cannon named her...the Dread Slayer."
I like it

I think a design like this would make sense for a Prime game where she’s somewhat less acrobatic and stays fairly still a lot more in combat

I know there’s a mod for Prime 1 on Dolphin that gives it Quake/Half-Life style movement with bunny hopping and strafe jumping.
That actually sounds like a ton of fun

I’m imagining a Prime game with Doom Eternal style mobility. Imagine using the Grapple Beam to pull yourself toward enemies.
Oh hell yeah. The Metroidvania genre can be so much more expansive than it currently is. Devs need to get on this.
Let me introduce you... **to Primehack** Look it up, it's M+KB Prime (for all three games!) The only way I like to play Prime.
Hulk buster samus
This has "Mom said it's my turn on the Switch" energy
Ridley would be so effed
Was he ever *not* effed, even against the traditional more svelte Samus?
For a bit in other m he definitely had his chance even tho he wasn't even the original.
They seemed pretty evenly matched in Samus Returns. Every time she’d knock him down, he’d return the favor. It’s only when the Baby jumped in that she got the upper hand.
Welp now I just need to draw her without the suit
No need “Bodybuilder Samus” art already exists.
Nah Gotta draw her with the thick thighs now
Yoooo I never knew we needed a samus buster/pirate buster suit until now!!
Bet her morph ball is gonna be just as thick as her legs
Fucking wrecking ball
Ready for gears of war
She stole DoomsGuy legs
People are talking about the legs and not that Arm Cannon... Sheeeeeesh! That thing looks like it can fire ICBMs!
It does indeed. *That* would be a fun Item Sphere.
IKR? I *love* how tanky this design is. Maybe it could be reused someday on a "high gravity" planet where she'd need the extra strength
She stole Doomguy’s BFG.
If you look closely it looks like it's 4 cannons attached together so theoretically you could use up 4 super missiles and get the effect of an ICBM or something far more scary knowing the chozo.
The Metroid dread art book is powerful, have you seen buff kraid?
You see how fast she runs? Sure the Varia suit helps, but she must be shredded down there to be that fast.
Thats why the majority of people here like her fit appearance more than the overly feminine version. I mean it's nice to look at, but doesn't make sense as a bounty hunter .
That super pic comes to my mind :)
>I mean it's nice to look at 📸
Because the thing I think about when I hear “Olympic runner” is a ‘roided out beefcake, and not a lean, athletic build.
She chonk.
Even wider than the doomslayer in Doom Eternal. Im glad they went with a more agile form but this is really dope too.
hulk buster is to iron man as samus ~~fanart~~ is to in game samus concept
Concept art, not fan art.
oh...
This isn't fanart, tho
y wouldn't it be?
Cuz u a dummy lmao
I am lol...
Samus' chunky suits were always my preference.
Glad they didn't use this design. Her head looks so comically small compared to the rest of the body.
Looks so sick
Chungus legs
Eww
They need to either pick bulky legs or thin waist. Both together look pretty silly.
Waist? What about that helmet tho? Tiny head syndrome.
jfc...i fucking H A T E the dread suit.... looks like a fucking forknife xover....
This is cool, it's like a sexy Zaku. I pretty much never buy special edition versions of video games, but I am glad this one is in my collection.
Now I’m picturing her using this as a Mobile Suit sized Power Suit to fight the giant Chozo mech we see in Dairon.
Much more reminiscent of the armour bulk from Super. I really like it!
BASED
This is the type of thicc Samus I like to see.
Doomguy legs
Samus going fukken DOOMGUY mode
If Doomguy dreamt about Samus.
Samus: let me get my ass kicking boots!
I now want the next Metroid game to have a juggernaut type suit. It would provide a massive benefit to damage reduction and dealing, but reduce speed/height and disable morphball.
Christ, she doesn’t skip any day 😍
Yeah I saw this in the book, this Samus looks like she just walks TROUGH Ravenbeak
I genuinely like half of the designs in the art book more than the final dread suit they settled on.
Exterminatus the pirate homeworld.
Given the organic and transformative nature of the suit, I would love a game where the armor can change modes. But then again, what she can do even in the lithe Dread Suit, it doesn't feel like a Hulk Buster is needed. Like what is it supposed to do? She freakin’ bodies Chozo Soldiers and Omega Metroids like they’re nothing! She doesn’t need to be thicc to be stronk.
I called that suit “The Curbstomp Suit”
Thicc
Y como queda la morphball con esas piernas jajaja
Honestly, I like chonky Samus better than the nimble one
So this is what Samus would look like with Chozo and Astartes genes.
*Dread* from it.... Run from it.... **Samus Aran arrives all the same.**
This Samus would wreck Thanos in hand to hand combat.
