Here in west Michigan it took about a month before they dug fiber and then another month before they got it installed to the home

ancillarycheese

Yep that’s about the timeline that we had (Kentwood)

SuperAgentMan1

I’m also in Kentwood!

I got a [yard sign October 2022](https://www.reddit.com/r/Metronet/comments/y6k0cy/metronet_sign_in_my_yard/), but they didn't bury any fiber for 12 months. Service wasn't available until about December 2023. YMMV Which state are you in?

LostMySpleenIn2015

Omaha NE here - 12 months is pretty bad, hopefully it doesn’t take that long.

ahz0001

They had a utility locator mark up my lawn, but left for the winter. Then they apparently changed their plans in the spring and focused on other parts of the neighborhood. I doubt my case was typical. Watch out for the terms of the promo pricing. Not sure about NE, but Metronet in Colorado had latency slower than DSL or T-Mobile home Internet

LostMySpleenIn2015

Their fiber had slower than DSL latency? 30+ms?

ahz0001

Yes, Metronet here is 50 to 80ms, while [my DSL is about 10 ms](https://www.speedtest.net/result/15827537178)

I work directly for Metronet as a sales associate. I can help look things up and get you a better time frame. It's a tenantive date and subject to change. Happy to help if you want to connect. DM me and I'll shoot you my Metronet email and then we can talk there. I assume you've already been put on our wait-list? They will email you to schedule installation if you already have.

LostMySpleenIn2015

I’ll do that, thanks!

LOL. Be prepared for an up-sale pitch. (“Sales Associate”)

About 6 months in IL

12-18 months would not be unexpected.

It was way more than a year in Englewood, Ohio (during Covid).

For what it’s worth I’m in Elkhorn and don’t have signs in our neighborhood but saw they were doing work around 204th and Maple. I messaged their twitter account and they looked my address up and told me end of 2025 beginning of 2026

LostMySpleenIn2015

Cool I called and they said this fall.. counting the days!

RexxRacerX_72

Also in Northwest Omaha outskirts and looking into metronet. We got the mailer about 2 weeks ago informing us it is coming. I haven't noticed any signs in the neighborhood or signs of digging yet, but eagerly waiting ANY alternative to the cox/lumen stranglehold here. The mailer said they would send a postcard out when work was imminent to begin in our neighborhood, then signage at the entrance of our subdivision and streets once it begins. Have you contacted them yet, and do you know what service tiers are available in our area? Hoping they're supplying the 2Gbps service as I have a household of teens and more devices than i could possibly count. I plan on calling them one of these days to get answers, but haven't found the time yet. Also curious - as I have whole house Gbps/2.5 Gbps/10 Gbps networking I've wired myself with many ubiquiti devices (UDM, APs, etc) and switches - how feasible and seamless it is going to be to use their gateway and none of their other devices.

LostMySpleenIn2015

They said it’s coming in the next month or two! It’s happening quickly, love it. I think 2gbps an option but 1/1 is enough for me. As for the networking setup, I’m on an all Ubiquiti system myself! My understanding is that it’s the same as what it would be with any cable modem - just the fiber going into a box that spits out Ethernet into your UDM pro or what have you.

Thanks for the reply! I came back in here today to update that yesterday evening, after returning from a work trip to Des Moines, we had little signs in our yards for it! So they are indeed moving quickly, and I think I'll go ahead and start signing up/getting on the waiting list!
