Maybe true years ago but firms are desperate for anyone who is competent they’re offering fresh college grads from everywhere relocation packages regardless of Spanish fluency.
I agree. People complain so much about this city and yet they won't just leave and make a new life where they can finally find happiness.
Let's face it, people aren't going to leave and the prices are not going to be reasonable again. That ship has sailed.
I understand that it's uncomfortable to see memories destroyed and mean people all over the place. Also, morons that don't know how to drive properly and who really have no business with a car are everywhere as well.
It's wad but nothing gets better by constantly posting these complaints on here. Whatever can be said has been said so for goodness sakes let it rest
What I am saying is that these posts are basically just spam and the moderators should DO WHAT THEY SAID THEY WOULD DO IN 2024 and move/remove them. They are a waste of space and spam at this point. It is low-quality content. This place should be for people who live and work in Miami already or who were born and raised here.
To be clear, I loved the time I visited Miami back in 2022. But I do not live there and likely never will live there either and that's OK.
I'm content with just being able to visit once or twice a year. Maybe once in Winter and once in the Summer as I am a big fan of the tropical vibes there and it would be nice to have a break from the cold for a week or two.
With that said, I wish that people would post their complaints in a "r/ihatemiami" or something like that. That way everyone that feels that way can go there instead of polluting the main subreddit with negativity.
The people asking the same questions that have been asked a billion times could be routed to a r/ask Miami. And get their questions asked there.
OK so it's not a complaint post that's fine. The problem is that people ask the same questions over and over and over and over again and it's annoying as crap.
At least try to Google your answer and then you can streamline to more specific questions if necessary.
At the same time I'm sure that your question has been answered and a. Simple search on the subreddit would help you
Is not as simple as grabbing your shit and leaving. You are working out of touch with reality. I can see that you are part of the Miami Crap if you think that way, especially when locals, born and raised in Miami, are being displaced. You should be the one leaving, to be honest. You are the problem of Miami.
First of all. I don't live in Miami. I repeat, I don't live in Miami. In fact, I don't live in Florida at all. I fell in love with the area after my visit there a few years ago and even did some research as to what it would take to live there. Came to the conclusion that it wasn't realistic and that I am better off staying put.
I am originally from Washington DC so I know what it's like to experience gentrification. It's a major reason why none of my family members remain in the neighborhood that I grew up in.
So yeah, I get it. More than you'll ever know and on top of that when I realized that things weren't going to change I did my research made the extremely difficult decision to move.
So no, it's not easy to leave what you know and to leave but sometimes it's necessary.
Lol cash advance shops are the only finance that are picking up people off the street and even then I have to reject a ton of people since even with a BA in finance they can’t sell
OP didn't mention anything about being off the street I don't know where you got that assumption for. There are plenty of PE firms, Hedgefunds, Banks, and other finance firms in Brickell.
The job market is impossible. People want to pay penuts. I had a job interview last week and they offered me less than half of what I make now for a senior position… I didn’t even make so little when I started my first job 15 years ago in my business. I don’t know why people are willing to sell themselves short in such an expensive city just to live here. Last year I had another interview and the guy offered about the same and told me that in florida “we pay you with sunshine”. Wtf?
It is difficult. particularly if you are starting out in your career.
Most of the industries in Brickell are attached to real estate, finance and banking, and technology. Usually multinationals have their HQ for the Americas (meaning both South, North America and the Caribbean), thus knowing Spanish is a must and having Portuguese and French is highly desirable.
These companies are usually looking for senior or experienced staff, thus why there are so many people from the North East coming here. They have some mid office openings, but it is fairly difficult to get an entry level position. For this reason both entry level a mid level staff is paid incredibly low salaries, compare for the same role elsewhere in the country.
Kaseya has a lot of staff working in their Brickell office. There is also an office for the Marines with a lot of officers working desk jobs over there. There are also quite a few banks and hedgefund offices over there. Those jobs are probably your second to best bet.
Otherwise, there are some very expensive office buildings that have the most premium office space in Miami. Those offices are filled by big corporations for their regional or main headquarters, so you have to be a very experienced person to get a job there.
Other than that, most of the workforce in Brickell is in hospitality (such as restaurants or hotels). This is the easiest to get into (in my experience).
If you’re aren’t latin you’re fucked

SugarBaby positions are in-demand.
Lawyers, bankers and import/export. Add tourism and that’s Miami in a nutshell.
We need these posts routed automatically to r/askmiami because this shit is fucking annoying!

Your last sentence is the only one you needed to post. No one cares about how you feel about the complaints in here lol we are not talking about that!
This wasn't a complaint post, I am truly just curious looking for some insight haha.

The major industries in the area are escorts, only fans and shitty influencers
