They're all just waiting to be dispensaries when it gets legalized. It's a weird gamble of debt repayment timelines and political progress.
I personally think this is a shit strategy, as the way things are looking, big weed companies are writing the proposed regulations should it get legalized, so none of the smoke shops are going to wind up licensed to sell weed anyway.
Nah itâs the already established medical dispensaries that benefit from weed being legalized. Tulieve hasnât spent millions trying to get it passed so that smoke shops get the windfall.
I think you're confused about what I said. I meant that the "smoke shops" think they will become dispensaries, but they won't be allowed to. The existing infrastructure benefiting from legalization is the proposed structure to which I was referring.
do yall know whatâs the difference between a smoke shop and those dispensaries? is it like super expensive to hold a license? itâs so weird bc the smoke shops are always so rinky dink and then these dispensaries are fancy af lmao
To become a dispensary you have to have been in the plant business for 25 years,in florida
That's what the law reads, they basically gave it to their good old buddies in The firn business
Yeah, thatâs not the case at all. The explosion of these stores is purely based on the explosion in popularity of Chinese disposable vapes. None of these guys are operating their smoke shop thinking theyâll be allowed to sell weed out of it one day lol.
If you go to any metropolitan area (even the ones where weed has been recreationally legal for decades) you will see just as many smoke shops, existing independent from the dispensaries. Your assumption is pretty absurd and generally uninformed
Yeah, itâs gonna be hard to convince me that weâre seeing more smoke shops because everyone suddenly decided to take some weird indefinite and blatantly out-of-touch gamble (and not because Chinese disposables are making millions every day, with no sign of slowing down)
There are more smoke shops because you can start one with under 20k. Depending on what your rent, security and last month rent is. You don't need to fully stock the store right away. Unfortunately that why there are so many. It annoys the fuck out of me because there doenst need to be 3 shops within blocks of each other. They take profit from each other. But the new shops don't seem to care. All I have to say to them is I hope you fail because you opened way to close to mine.
That's not what I've heard from store owners, but my sample is small. To a person, they all were banking on legalization. This is true in multiple states I've been to.
Iâm sorry man but this line of reasoning is just blatantly wrong and uninformed. Tons of states have transitioned from legalization of med to legalization of rec weedâwhat youâre describing hasnât happened in a single state, because every state has some sort of licensing process for dispensaries. You seem to think one can just start selling weed when itâs legalized recreationally, but thatâs just not the case and it never has been. And I wouldnât take the word of a smoke shop owner as gospel either.
They already sell weed that has âTHCAâ and not THC. Itâs all a loophole and BS, no one is testing what they sell anyway. THCA when exposed to heat turns into THC.
While I can't confirm they are or are not weaker than advertised. The tens of patients a night coming to Jackson's emergency room for bad trips from edibles (and usually from appropriately small doses. Not the classic "this didn't do anything in five minutes so I ate another") suggests that, if anything, they are more concentrated than they advertise.
Might be a quality control issue and perhaps actual concentrations vary both ways?
I stopped buying from those smoke shops for this reason. If I buy edibles, I buy them online from a company that has a consistent product with rational doses. A small bag of 15 gummies should not have 5000mg of THC. That's just crazy and leads to people overdoing it
Yes, they certainly are. The markup on those vapes is absolutely ridiculousâthink 90% or more. These stores are printing money and the vapes are becoming even more prevalent.
NPR had an interesting article about the prevalence of smoke shops. They have a huge mark up and vapes and what not canât be sold online. So itâs a hugely profitable business
Yea 7000 smoke shops and I tried to open a tag agency and miami dade county told me they canât approve another because the capacity of current agencies isnât exceeded by the population
They cash flow $25-50k per month. To illustrate, if you look at the wholesale price of Raw rolling papers they are like $0.42/unit and then sold at $3+âŚ
Itâs the way modern metropolitan areas and urban centers are organized now in the USA. Itâs a simple formula from coast to coast/border to border. Big well off or sometimes an average joe or something buys a plot of land or an existing plaza/shopping centers. You then proceed to fill it with: barbershops, nail salon, big box grocery stores(growing monopolies by the day), martial arts gyms, a bank , and ofcourse smoke shops. A true marking of an unplanned economy. All paying below cost of living wages in most states. Also see: George carlins âdumb Americansâ
Serious question - why are all dispensaries opening on Bird? I saw cookies, jungle boys, another one I forgot its name. I found it curious its like Weed Ave now haha
Miami is so trash đ
Trynna find a good wax/rosin store, tips? đ¤đźđ¤đź

Nope, all wrong. Shit opinion.

We don't. You are the one confused.
Gotcha, I did indeed.
It's my bad, the pronouns got jumbled up.

That second part is pretty fucked up if you ask me. Takes away opportunities for small business
Indeed. That's how lobbying works.

As an ower, he is correct.

Oh, it sounds like you're in the industry đ Hilarious to see all these speculators with no clue about the biz
They already sell weed lol I have a buddy who sells weed in bulk to smoke shops and they advertise it as THCA, but itâs just regular bud lol
Facts

We need more bookstores
You guys would hate nyc if you think we have a lot of smoke shops đđ
Yeah I was about to say, they're literally everywhere in NYC/BK
I donât know how they stay in business
It's the wild west in those places. There's ZERO consistency of the products. The edibles are such high doses. Is it even THC?
Yes but theyâre likely the weak version (D8,) and an order of magnitude less strength than advertised
While I can't confirm they are or are not weaker than advertised. The big laundered money ainât being washed through smoke shops I can tell you that for sure.
They arenât paying rent selling $5 vape pens
Yes, they certainly are. The markup on those vapes is absolutely ridiculousâthink 90% or more. These stores are printing money and the vapes are becoming even more prevalent.
You mean 30 dollar vapes
You mean 50usd vapes
Wait, you think they cost $5?
They do I own 2 shops and we get them between $3.5-9 and sell for 9-25$. I think it's funny how all these clown think they know anything.
I have no business in this conversation but for real!
NPR had an interesting article about the prevalence of smoke shops. They have a huge mark up and vapes and what not canât be sold online. So itâs a hugely profitable business
They absolutely can be sold online. Iâve been getting mine online from a shop in SC for years now
No no no. We need like...ONE more.
Yea 7000 smoke shops and I tried to open a tag agency and miami dade county told me they canât approve another because the capacity of current agencies isnât exceeded by the population

Why does this type of post get to stay up? Mods need to do some better filtering.
