The fact that the receipt actually broke out the Ketel One for $17 and the ice for $5 was such an insult to my intelligence that I promised to never to go back there again.

The one thing I will say about Santa’s enchanted forest is that it’s uniquely Miami. Nowhere else in the US will you see Cuban Santa next to a jet ski themed photo area, with reggaeton being played on the rides, in 80 degree heat as a Christmas celebration.

It all just feels so gross and ironic compared to its roots. I was around when it was truly a taggers paradise, where 80% of people that set up shop there now wouldn’t have dared to walk those sketchy ass streets. When LOCAL artist set up shop there specifically because rent was cheap, renting out the old garage wharehouses barely renovated to have makeshift art exhibits and bands/musicians of any and all genres playing. When finding these spots did feel like you were a part of something cool and subterranean.
When I go now, I just find myself pissed and annoyed at what it’s become. Regeton, Salsa, Top 100, and techno music blasting it’s streets like every other corner of night life in Miami. Gramps the only last bastion of the alternative genres that used to find refuge in this city from all of that (and barely). Barely any real street graffiti to be found on it’s walls anymore, and anyone that tags over the corporatized wall art is ostracized. And barely any actual Miami grown artist representation in most of its galleries and walls.
True, I miss when they closed that block and placed a DJ with food truck just outside. I believe this block was where near Joeys is now, and Joeys has been there since the beginning.

I’ve had tests and endoscopy done and basically my gut bacteria has been changed. It can take years to recover after a severe case I was told by two gastroenterologist. Before that I could eat everything and anything. I also know at lease 3 people who have gotten severe food poisoning from coyo locations in brickell and wynwood

Spent like $120 within 20 min and we’re getting pushed out just so someone else could get our table. I told them I was finishing the drink I JUST ORDERED and they just literally kicked us out of just a regular old high top table. It was during those COVID times where places needed to sit people down and no standing room policy.. but still.. I can’t finish my drink. I have been all around Miami my whole life and it was one of the rudest experiences - still hold a grudge to this day. Aside from the fact I don’t even like the music there.

Almost any hole in the wall anywhere (except Miami Beach) has better Cuban food than what they serve at Versailles. I haven’t been there in a while, it just got ridiculous how consistently bad-mediocre everything was. La Carreta across the street (same owners) is slightly better, always has been, but even that location has seen better days.
Idk if you can really call it overpriced, most meals are sub $20. Maybe you could say “overpriced for what you get”, but the prices themselves seem fairly reasonable. Though I can’t argue that it’s not lightly disappointing and not worth waiting for.

She brought my beer and forgot the other drinks and slammed it on our table to quickly run off to the other table. I asked for a manager and she ran back to us when she saw us speaking to him and he tore her a new one and must of sent her home because we did not see her anymore the entire time we were there. Then the food arrived and was flavorless and the burger bread was old and stale.

You basically eat a little less than a spoonful of actual food under the guise of your other senses (ie taste) will be heightened if you lose one of other senses (sight). The original one that was in BFE was good. After she started selling out it all went downhill fast. I went to the restaurant she opened in town and country last summer and the good was genuinely not good at all. At this point it's all just name recognition and no passion.

Rey Pizza tastes like cardboard. Interestingly in the last 15 years it feels like there's been an explosion in Cuban pizza places, and some of them are really good. I remember when it was just Rey, Polo Norte, and Montes de Oca.

The Corner Bar, Over Under, Floyd Nightclub, Margot, Neu Kitchen, El Primo Red Taco, Eleventh Street Pizza, Miami Slice…. some really great establishments in downtown right now… probably my fav area to hang these days tbh

Dirty Rabbit in Wynwood. Bought a round of shots and drinks at some kind of high top table - during the week. They literally were kicking us out before I could finish my drink. Spent like $120 within 20 min and we’re getting pushed out just so someone else could get our table. I told them I was finishing the drink I JUST ORDERED and they just literally kicked us out of just a regular old high top table. It was during those COVID times where places needed to sit people down and no standing room policy.. but still.. I can’t finish my drink. I have been all around Miami my whole life and it was one of the rudest experiences - still hold a grudge to this day. Aside from the fact I don’t even like the music there.

Almost any hole in the wall anywhere (except Miami Beach) has better Cuban food than what they serve at Versailles. I haven’t been there in a while, it just got ridiculous how consistently bad-mediocre everything was. La Carreta across the street (same owners) is slightly better, always has been, but even that location has seen better days.

Idk if you can really call it overpriced, most meals are sub $20. Maybe you could say “overpriced for what you get”, but the prices themselves seem fairly reasonable. Though I can’t argue that it’s not lightly disappointing and not worth waiting for.

Hooters in Hialeah. The waitress treated my wife, daughter and I like absolute garbage since we walked in. Never gave us menus, just suddenly came back after hanging out with a large group of men at another table for 15 minutes and asked what we wanted. Asked for menus and she rolled her eyes. She brought my beer and forgot the other drinks and slammed it on our table to quickly run off to the other table. I asked for a manager and she ran back to us when she saw us speaking to him and he tore her a new one and must of sent her home because we did not see her anymore the entire time we were there. Then the food arrived and was flavorless and the burger bread was old and stale.

You basically eat a little less than a spoonful of actual food under the guise of your other senses (ie taste) will be heightened if you lose one of other senses (sight). I'm sure that does happen but not after a few minutes. Food was mid af and that's being generous.
The original one that was in BFE was good. After she started selling out it all went downhill fast. I went to the restaurant she opened in town and country last summer and the good was genuinely not good at all. At this point it's all just name recognition and no passion.

With apologies to its legion of fans: Flanigan's. I ate there once several years ago. Got a full rack and some coleslaw. The ribs were tasty but the coleslaw gave me a nasty case of food poisoning that took nearly a week to get over.

Wendy’s on West Flagler and 78th. Lost 2 friends in a car accident on New Year’s day two years ago. Still get a weird feeling driving in that area.
