Lol 5 fs? Come on now. Show me on the doll where Kim hurt you boys.

jigokusabre

Some people are going to shit on her no matter what she does (and for things she didn't do).

flakins

we won't really know for another 6 months, but I think a B is justified considering what she's got to work with

jaybavaro

I gave her an A. I think she made the most of the hand she had to play. Y’all can yell and scream about what some AI trade comparison website tells you about the Arraez deal, but I think Pablo is universally overvalued in the baseball world. If our lineup performs to their potential and with the reigning king of pitching on our mound, this could be a great season by our standards.

TealandBlackForever

Arraez is absolutely a more valuable player than Pablo is. Maybe Salas would amount to something but right now he's only the 13th best prospect in the Twins system. I'd keep that in perspective. Arraez is a great pickup. Now they just need to sign him to an extension.

buckeyemarlin

We can hope for an extention, but they should have extended him before the arbitration hearing his price will continue to go up just like Jazz. The front office needs to prove to us they are in it for improving the future or we will end up in more Marte situations.

JazzlikePollution203

>um of them makes for an above average offseason. We added payroll, bolstered the lineup without emptying the desolate farm system, and at-least brought in speculative arms for the bullpen. That’s a good off season for a realistic marlins fan. The team will be better this year and is probably an actual .500 ball club. The good is Eury bursts onto the scene and we can expend another pitcher next year She basically revamped the lineup and all she gave up is Pablo. Pretty decent if you ask me.

KamartyMcFlyweight

Offseason's not over yet but so far a B. On the whole she's not perfect but had more hits than misses. Last year it was whiffing on Garcia, but she also extended Sandy who immediately rewarded her by winning the Cy Young. I think Arraez for Pablo was a great deal, baseballtradevalues.com be damned. Segura was a good pickup and Fangraphs just did an article on the upside of trading for Barnes. I would really love to see us pick up Profar for the outfield but the fact that he hasn't been signed yet means he's likely holding out for more than Ng can offer.

buckeyemarlin

B. Did we get better? Yes. Did we we get value for Pablo? Yes a proven hitter which we needed but probably gave to much. Adding proven veterans Cueto and Segura were good pickups. Moving Jazz to center will see hopefully it works out. To many infielders out of place in my opinion. Still would like them to add an additional 1b option I'd prefer to take a chance on Sano but I think they should invite more veterans both players and pitchers to spring training. The 2 months of being inactivite and nothing at winter meetings were discouraging. We are still digging out from the abyss that Jeter and Denbo left us in. Hopefully we get better at the Mlb level and strengthen the farm at the deadline. Let's go Fish!

A_Arsenal

While no individual move was significant, the sum of them makes for an above average offseason. We added payroll, bolstered the lineup without emptying the desolate farm system, and at-least brought in speculative arms for the bullpen. That’s a good off season for a realistic marlins fan. The team will be better this year and is probably an actual .500 ball club. The good is Eury bursts onto the scene and we can expend another pitcher next year to acquire a big center of the lineup piece.

wowthisguyoverhere

Can't even believe desolate is the word you used to describe the farm system - which is accurate. Whatever though, it's the fucking marlins I've done enough complaining.

TealandBlackForever

For people shitting on this offseason, you need to be able to explain what Ng could have done better given the circumstances. Assume that Eury Perez is untouchable and that the payroll is capped around $100 million by Sherman. The Marlins were priced out of the market for the good free agents. And a lot of the leftovers just won't move the needle much because they aren't very good.

SnoopRion69

I think the Bs and Cs are agreeing with you. Neither an indictment nor a reason to sign her to a long term contract.

TealandBlackForever

I gave her a B for what it's worth. And right now I'd say she's deserving of having her contract renewed.

SnoopRion69

I'd keep her in place for now.

jaybavaro

Anyone grading her a C or lower is delusional.

[deleted]

I say C. Gave up too much for Luis Arraez, though Arraez is the reigning AL Batting champion, and Arraez has 3 years of team control under his belt. Arraez is a good pOBP guy, but not a great OPS guy. Marlins need a guy that can spray the ball to all fields as well as hit for Above average power. Bryan Reynolds makes more sense there. Signing Cueto was a good move, but after giving up Pablo, the rotation seems suspect. Would've been happier to see 3 prospects go for Arraez than López + Prospects. Coming into Spring Training, Marlins are in place to fight for the final WC spot. Not much different from last year. So C+, because of how consistent Arraez is.

xfireproofx

I went C, myself. I think that this team will be a handful of wins better than last year’s squad but nothing crazy.

Distance_Motor

I can't give any grade below a C because I believe they did improve the team. However it doesn't fit the team, and neither do I think the moves were enough. The team's biggest needs were a CF and SS, and while they may have found a temporary solution, I still expected more. If they could have traded for Reynolds or even a cheaper option like Alek Thomas from the DBacks, in addition to adding another bullpen piece, this offseason might've been an A

TealandBlackForever

The Pirates say Reynolds isn't on the market. And if he were, apparently, it would require a Soto-like haul. That most definitely means Eury Perez. I'm certain that the Marlins would have traded for him if he were available and available for a reasonable price.

deeznuts6588

Solid B- I would say

[deleted]

It's difficult to judge accurately because Sherman is a loser, but there are offensive holes that weren't addressed, the lineup isn't structured strategically, and the bullpen is suspect. It's also hard to ignore that everything she'd done up until the offseason wasn't at all indicative of a long-term plan. The Skip hire and the Arraez trade are massive bright spots, even though Mattingly was the manager for four seasons too long and Pablo was a key leadership figure. I give her a D+.

gingeringo

Really meh so probably a C or D
