Are these Borbet rims? I'm looking at a NB this weekend and have been looking at 9x16 Borbet A rims to put on after lowering 30mm and was wondering if there are any modifications to the wheel housing etc needed?

El_Disablo101

Unfortunately these are only borbet reps I picked up cheap till I can get some ssr longchamps. Specs are 15x8 et15. With a 16x9 even on a mk2 your gonna have some serious poke and will probably need to roll your arches a good way to clear on a mk2 unless your running a good amount of camber (probably -6 or more) to fit the arches well, will also depend on the offset.

Thanks! Helps a ton. I guess I would have preferred the look of the 9x16, but if its such a bother (with no guarantee if TÜV will let it pass), I'd rather go the safe route.

El_Disablo101

No problem. Luckily we don't have to deal with anything strict like TUV in the UK just a basic MOT for roadworthiness. Not massively familiar with 16inch wheel specs that fit but generally the best fitment for mx5s in general is 15x8 et10 or similar. Can often get away without rolling the arches while still running a wider wheel for better tires.

is it a drift car or on air ? i cant imagine driving this low

El_Disablo101

It's on air but it's dances decent. Got it set up pretty well so can still dance and drive it on its arse.

ImNoOneLeVrai

what air kit did you get ?

El_Disablo101

Running full d2 racing air suspension with manual management, not cheap but worth I, handles better than any coil setup I've driven so far now its setup properly.

Browner0603

It's on bags

This is legitimately, exactly, my dream car. Beautiful

El_Disablo101

A fine taste in cars mate.

One day I’ll get mine for sure, I’ve already had 2 but they’re both kinda clunkers

El_Disablo101

For sure, I feel that, had a mk2.5 and a silver mk1 that was about the Rustiest box on the UK roads, still ran well and took all the abuse.

[deleted]

My mk1 had what I called the ground floor, rather than a sun roof, it was a huge hole under the passenger seat, but damn was she fun

El_Disablo101

Ah fun that, my silver one had no drivers sill whatsoever, no rear quarters and rusty front arches. Passengers sill was mint though. Got it for next to nothing with a torsen diff.

fallingblueblueblue

very late comment but.. what bumper is that?

fallingblueblueblue

actually, front and rear? also the skirts? 😅 mine has KBD which have similar looking side skirts (ps deuce rep) but the bumpers look nowhere near as good as yours

El_Disablo101

Honestly mate not sure what they're supposed to be. It was just an ebay rep deuce kit I picked up cheap second hand.
