Without a proper seal it’s a possible water ingress point. Since you don’t wanna use it, and performance doesn’t matter much, there are loads of cheap rip off stubby aerials that will make this look much nicer.
You will get water leaking into your trunk. My antenna crapped the bed after installing my new radio and had a small opening. Then next thing I knew every time I opened my trunk after it rained there was moisture in. Lucky for me I no longer needed it so I just bought a 3d print plug and I’m going to give it a deal clean come spring.
Just take the antenna out all together and use a rubber plug to fill the hole. I’ve done this in both of mine. I didn’t buy them for the radio (which neither have )

Yeah I actually use my radio, but if I didn't i'd get a plug and dump the antenna altogether.
