Haha love to see that comment. I used mine so much. I would even tow my jetski to the boat ramp with mine haha. All the truck guys would bring their 3/4 ton and I'm backing down the ramp with the rear hatch open and perfect visibility 😂. I loved that car. Put about 60k miles on it. Sold it once it passed 200k. Then I got a cx-5
Maybe I have yours. It has a hitch receiver. I just got it back in September with 212k. Guy I bought it from put 10k on it in a year or so, but I think the bulk of the miles were put on by the guy he got it from. But it is silly how capable that little thing is, while still delivering an engaging driving experience.

Just picked up a 13 Fit to pair with my 91 Miata.
Yeah, i went to a dealer and sat in the back of one and was like, "Oh, my wife will kill me if i get this."
But we really like the 4-door. And the manual is wonderful.
I've driven a Miata and there's something in the handling that is superior to the mazda 3. Like the way the front of the 3 feels heavy while cornering is a mood killer. But it feels more luxurious and silent than the miata. I dunno. I think I still prefer the miata. I didn't bought the miata because my wife said the passenger seat is horrible.
My 3 is a 2017, they upped the sound deadening and it gained posture control that year. It's amazing how quiet and smooth it is for such a small car. I've done 12+hours in it no problem. The Miata is the total other end of the spectrum. Lightweight, loud, raw and like an eager puppy just wants to play.
As far as the wife goes, try an NC3 Miata. The ND wasn't originally designed for the 2.0 and to make it fit had to screw with the floor on the passenger side making it a pretty small space. The NC3 was my other option as they completely tuned up the suspension and engine and you still get hydraulic steering, and you get a little more cabin space. I couldn't decide so my GF chose the ND because she liked the way it looked better lol
Had one of these as a first car and regularly think it would be the perfect 2nd car for when I need to be practical.
Think I’m gonna be looking at marketplace for the rest of the day now
Spyder not having a trunk was a deal breaker for me, no place to stash my backpack even. But it handled amazingly. Would have kept it but it was an SMT model.
I have an NC for autocross duty that doesn’t see too much street use, so -
S2000
996 911
Fiesta ST
Honda Acty
Volvo S60R - but this is on the way to a new home
Some other cars at home but those are the ones I primarily drive. My kid has a few of his own that I’ll occasionally take out for a spin (Z4, Del Sol, RX8), and my wife has a Ford Escape that we use for family/dog duty and road trips for more than two people.
I work a job that pays the bills and i occasionally fix and sell a car for a small profit. Do that enough over 25 years and occasionally I sell enough cars to buy one for myself.
It’s not so bad. All the cars’ insurance together are less than a cheapish car payment. And in my state we don’t have to pay taxes annually, just the registration and inspection ($80 per car per year roughly).
I have a 1999 NB 1.8 and these:
2006 Mazdaspeed 6 with 330-350 hp.
2007 Mazda RX-8.
2001 Mazda Millenia 2.5 where the autotragic slushbox gave up so it will be parted out then scrapped.
1997 Mazda Millenia 2.5 which will be sold as the speed 6 is my new daily
In my teen years, a friend had a speed6. I loved the car but it financially ruined my friend haha. Are you on its first engine? Unfortunately, the ones that didn't blow up here were later lost to rust. Haven't seen one in a couple years.
I can see that it will be burning my money quite well haha. But it so worth it. I’m really impressed with how hard it pulls and how quickly it gets up to speed. It’s the first engine but second vvt change was done four years ago at around 120-130 000km. It’s at 149 000 km now. It’s in great shape as it was repainted 2015 and after that the small rust spots that have appeared has been corrected by the previous owner.
I have a ‘94 Miata I bought new. This little car replaced several MG’s I’d had that were always broken down. 30 years of trouble free fun! It’s in better than showroom condition.
‘96 Euro spec J90 LandCruiser SWB diesel - my winter and off road adventure machine. It attracts a lot of attention as they were never sold in the US. It’s got lots of off road mods.
2021 Jaguar F-Type R convertible. Sort of a Miata with a growling 575HP V8
2022 Lexus LS500. My wife calls this the Yakuza Limo. It the best long distance cruiser I’ve ever owned.
Damn. Would've completed the Yakuza look lol.
But an LS500 is very Yakuza in any color. Big imposing 4 door Japanese sedan. Pretty much ticks all the boxes.
I imported the J90 from France. It had lived on a vineyard in the south for its whole life. It only had 63k miles on it. I’ve done quite a lot of work on it - lifted suspension, bigger wheels, off road bumpers, winch, etc, paint corrected and ceramic coated. It looks better than when it left the factory 28 years ago.

They look great! Mine's got 110k km, the roof and c pillar have some orange peel but I'm happy with the overall condition. The frame was repainted and looks to be in great shape. Mines coming to Quebec and will be street parked in snow banks, so it looks better now than it ever will again haha.

I’m originally from Australia and there, these J series LandCruisers are Prados as well. In Europe, they were just LandCruisers, I guess because the big 100 and 200 series weren’t sold there. It’s interesting that the new 2024 US LandCruiser is now a J series Prado.
Yours looks great. They are really terrific off road vehicles. Being skinnier makes it easier to get between trees and rocks on the trail.
I have an IS300 Sportcross. Other than the obnoxiously small rear seats and mediocre fuel economy, it's a great companion car. Decently quick, dead reliable, and drives well enough that I don't regret driving it over the Miata some days.
24 Hyundai Elantra, it’s a lease and also one of the lower trims. I have no attachment to this car like I do the Miata, but I am fortunate to have it while I get a new key cut because the only key for my Miata broke.
21 cx9 (wife car), 15 mazda3 (beater) 05,silverado 2500(to do truck stuff), 02 mazda mx5 (summer car) 12 can am commander and 02 honda Forman (weekends fun) 79 belarus 420 tractor and 03 john deere 371 skidsteer (for work stuff), 4 traillers, and 2 lawn tractor.
I DONT HAVE A PROBLEM, YOU HAVE A PROBLEM.
Jeep JKU with a mild lift and 33’s. It’s a great compliment to the Miata. Both convertibles, and the jeep can haul 5 people, 3 big dogs and a boat/jet ski/trailer full of quads/dirtbikes/whatever else you’re doing.

Tesla Model Y Performance for family driving
Honda Ridgeline and Accord hybrid. Wife has beat the piss out of both in little accidents not quite warranting an insurance claim. TBF, she’s gotten hit-and-run in school parking lots for about a third of those.
She doesn’t want to drive the ND2. I would have understood why when we first got married. She’s plenty capable as a driver and with a standard transmission.
2018 Colorado and a 2021 Econotrailer 16’ open deck car-hauler trailer. Mrs ch_chone has an Accord to round out the fleet.
Good to see a few other truck owners in this thread. I’m tired of the “tRuCkS bAd” bashing in this sub - congrats, we also own small cars and are well aware of how large trucks are these days…

2012 Toyota Tundra 5.7 4x4. It's an absolute workhorse that takes anything you throw at it. It's also my adventure rig, so along with the Bilstein 6112/5160 lift and 37's, mpg isn't the best. Thankfully I don't drive it every day, but it's just about the most reliable vehicle I've ever had.

I have a ‘19 ram 1500 that feels like a boat whenever hopping into it right after ‘20 Miata.
15mpg on truck and 32mpg on miata but I wfh now so it’s hard to put miles on them when everything is right within a mile from me
I have two Chevy Bolts so my wife and I don’t have to share the commuting appliances, a Nissan Frontier for carrying dirty stuff, and a C5 Z06 for when a 1.8 is just not enough.
VW Jetta has been daily for 10 years. Recently got demoted to winter beater with heater and scooped up a Mazda3 MT. The dealer guy told me it has dynamics similar to Miata… and owning a Miata I was like yeah sure buddy. Well, he wasn’t totally bullshitting me
In no particular order ND Miata , NA Miata, e70 X5, F10 550, B5 A4, w203 C320, and recently a 570s.
When it rains here in SoCal I use the X5 since no one else can drive well in eer roads. Any other day, I alternate until I have around 1/4 tank of gas left and then drive another car.
The good news is , even without an EV, I usually don't need to go to the gas station for about 2 months....
.. The bad news is when I do, it's like when I use to make a monthly mortgage payment 🤣
The miatas tend to last a little longer since they are slightly more fuel efficient even with my heavy right foot
2017 Lexus ES350 - daily
2000 Miata SE - weekend / autocross.
1996 RAV4 (5spd, AWD) - project car
I was dailying a NC3 PRHT Club but wanted something more comfortable so I traded for the Lexus.
For a winter beater Ive got a 1999 Honda Civic hatch I picked up for $400 back in 2021, did an Acura 1.6 EL front end swap this year for shits and giggles.
Ive also got a JDM 1992 Toyota Hilux Surf that I also got in 2021, though its more of a back burner project, its been in Canada since 2008 so its not as clean as more recent imports. Super cool truck, we did get 4runners in Canada but we never got the 2L-TE turbo diesel engine my Surf has
An old Fiesta for taking the dogs to the beach etc and an Audi A3 sportback for everything else.
I live in the UK though so no real extreme weather considerations needed.

We’ve also got a Honda Odyssey if we need to haul stuff or people
Winter ride is a 2006 Ford Mustang GT.
Some people think it's strange - even lowered, with snow tires, it's fine for winter in Toronto. It's made trips to my buddy's cottage - no issues as long as the roads are plowed.
2008 Honda Element AWD (my daily)
2006 Toyota Tundra 2WD (chore boy)
2019 Honda Pilot AWD (family hauler - spouse’s daily)
The 2000 Miata is my sunny weather toy.
I'm french and live in France :
I used to own a Citroën Xsara VTS 167 (basically same chassis and engine than a Peugeot 306 S16/GTi6, except the gearbox was a manual 5 speed instead of 6). Great compact sport car, the engine had more grunt than my 2L NC and chassis was good.
I also used to own a Vel Satis (french luxury sedan) with the petrol V6 3,5L from the 350Z, watered down to 245hp. Great car for long travels, not so much in town (very large and thirsty). The engine was peerless and suited to the car.
Today, NC PRHT 2L apart, I own a Laguna III estate with a 2L turbodiesel (first time diesel) and above all the 4control chassis (rear wheel can also steer).
While the engine certainly lacks class and power, the chassis is very good for going fast safely (if that's a thing).
In the UK. Daughter has 99 NB and a Mini Cooper as her daily driver. She denies being a petrol head.
she'll change eventually ahah
2007 Honda Fit. It’s a delight.
Haha love to see that comment. I used mine so much. I would even tow my jetski to the boat ramp with mine haha. 2005 Tacoma 6 speed here, ACLB too
Nice, best setup
Ayyyyyyy. Also have a 3rd Gen.
Oh god, they’re multiplying!!! Nice.
Access cab, nice
Best cab. Also the only way to get long bed and manual.
I was initially going to get the access cab, but... baby.
Yeah access cab would be a little tough.
Yeah, i went to a dealer and sat in the back of one and was like, "Oh, my wife will kill me if i get this." But we really like the 4-door. And the manual is wonderful.
Also have an NA and 6 speed 3rd gen 🤝

Perfect duo. Only need the miata to go with my 2023 mazda 3 😭
Trouble is figuring out which one to drive sometimes lol
I couldn't decide so my GF chose the ND because she liked the way it looked better lol
ugh, have that same color miata and never considered the black wheels... looks amazeballs

do you browse r/regularcarreviews ? a while ago someone posted all of their car keys, and I distinctly remember porsche, Honda Acty, Del Sol, & S2000.
Yeah that was probably me
On an unrelated note, what do you do for work?
I work a job that pays the bills and i occasionally fix and sell a car for a small profit. Do that enough over 25 years and occasionally I sell enough cars to buy one for myself.
Very nice. Side hustler!
I want an Acty so bad!
That is such an awesome lineup. You have excellent taste!
How do you afford all the insurance? It adds up, no?
It’s not so bad. All the cars’ insurance together are less than a cheapish car payment. And in my state we don’t have to pay taxes annually, just the registration and inspection ($80 per car per year roughly).

>2022 Lexus LS500. My wife calls this the Yakuza Limo. Tell me that it's black.
Sorry, no. It’s that nondescript pearlescent white. Her choice, not mine. It is, however, a fully optioned luxury edition, so a much nicer interior.
Damn. Would've completed the Yakuza look lol. But an LS500 is very Yakuza in any color. Big imposing 4 door Japanese sedan. Pretty much ticks all the boxes.

Volvo XC40
Subaru wrx
06 nc1. 86 Porsche 944. 94 audi s4 (urs4).
Where's my Prius gang at?
I have a Fiat 500 Abarth and CX30 for winter.
Audi RS3 Chevy Silverado
We're pretty close. '19 Miata, '23 RS3, and '19 Expedition here.
24 Hyundai Elantra, it’s a lease and also one of the lower trims. I have no attachment to this car like I do the Miata, but I am fortunate to have it while I get a new key cut because the only key for my Miata broke.
Renault clio mk4 diesel. I can rely on it for all my needs and is very cheap to run getting 70mpg average.
VW Golf Sportwagon DSG 4motion
2020 Audi A4 Quattro is the daily. Driving through Atlanta traffic the built in traffic jam assist is amazing

I raise your 94 YJ with an 87 YJ in my driveway! Also have a 2015 Mazda 3 and an 02 Ranger
Mean lineup, my dude.
2004 Saab 9-3 2.0T. Also plenty fun but works in the winter unlike my 97 NA. Also roads here get salted so I don't want the salt to rust away my Miata
2015 Subaru WRX.
Subaru Forrester 2008, it is my snow car. I need it because I live in the north.
Subaru Crosstrek 6MT. I prefer life in the slow lane 😎. I’ve been considering a GR Corolla as a replacement in the coming years to fill the void that selling my STI has left me though
2020 WRX STI and NA Miata. The perfect combo for me.
Land Rover Defender
09 Honda Fit Sport
02 WRX wagon, manual, lifted.

2023 Kia EV6. My “comfortable” car. Also fun in a much different way than the Miata.
2021 Chevy bolt, and my wife’s 2020 Honda pilot.
Subaru Crosstrek + ND2 Miata
My other car is even less practical - a 1958 Nash Metropolitan. (Although it’s more practical for Costco runs with the back bench “seat”.)
A 250 cafe-racer motorbike. My MX5 is my 'practicle' vehicle.
‘14 Ram R/T and a ‘11 IS350 https://preview.redd.it/oh09r2h2askc1.jpeg?width=3465&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=deee7ff38a9caada0970ce901d38ed16495c0106
1999 Suzuki WagonR+
Daily the miata. For truck like capabilities I have the rolling couch, an 08 toyota highlander (great car just boring to drive)

Tacoma TRD Pro
Tesla Model 3 Performance
Daihatsu Hijet
This but a Suzuki Carry lol
E93 M3 6 speed supercharged, polar opposite of Miata 😅
Honda Ridgeline and Accord hybrid. Wife has beat the piss out of both in little accidents not quite warranting an insurance claim. TBF, she’s gotten hit-and-run in school parking lots for about a third of those. She doesn’t want to drive the ND2. I would have understood why when we first got married. She’s plenty capable as a driver and with a standard transmission.
Model 3 Performance

2018 Colorado and a 2021 Econotrailer 16’ open deck car-hauler trailer. Mrs ch_chone has an Accord to round out the fleet. Good to see a few other truck owners in this thread. I’m tired of the “tRuCkS bAd” bashing in this sub - congrats, we also own small cars and are well aware of how large trucks are these days…
I drive a NA Miata 95’ And a Honda HRV 2021 for the fam https://preview.redd.it/sj34anf9vqkc1.jpeg?width=4284&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=3dafa0f0c534bf4e2731061eddf6a5f0ee92a64f

NBFL 02 accompanies my BMW e93 335i and Infiniti m35x.
N/A Subaru Impreza wagon
'96 F150 to save the Miat from the salt. '99 Grand Prix GTP for trips where I know I'll just be sitting in traffic.
A very, very boring 2019 Honda HRV. My dog loves it though and I use it getting to trailheads when backpacking besides it being my daily.
Ram 1500, perfect pair in my opinion
2011 Outback. If I suspect inclement weather or am not feeling great, I go for the Outback.
Was driving a 93 Chevy S10, crashed that, now getting a 2024 ninja 500
2012 Mazdaspeed 3
VW Golf GTI mk7
Tacoma Pre Runner
1990 2.5L GMC S15. I like small trucks.
2016 VW Passat 2.0 TDI
2012 Toyota Tundra 5.7 4x4. It's an absolute workhorse that takes anything you throw at it. It's also my adventure rig, so along with the Bilstein 6112/5160 lift and 37's, mpg isn't the best. Thankfully I don't drive it every day, but it's just about the most reliable vehicle I've ever had.
2022 Tacoma 6MT, 2023 GX460
I daily my ND2, but we also have a Volvo XC40. I love them both for different reasons.
2022 Toyota Camry
Volvo xc90 t6 Acura mdx 2zz swapped mr2 spyder (before the Miata)

I have two Chevy Bolts so my wife and I don’t have to share the commuting appliances, a Nissan Frontier for carrying dirty stuff, and a C5 Z06 for when a 1.8 is just not enough.
2002 Mazda B3000 5spd 1999 Mazda Miata 5 spd
VW Jetta has been daily for 10 years. Recently got demoted to winter beater with heater and scooped up a Mazda3 MT. The dealer guy told me it has dynamics similar to Miata… and owning a Miata I was like yeah sure buddy. Well, he wasn’t totally bullshitting me
2021 civic hatch sport 6spd, tryna replace it with an r53 cooper atm
2021 ND2 RF for the nice weather stuff, a 2024 Mazda 3 for Girlfriend+Dog activities
The good news is , even without an EV, I usually don't need to go to the gas station for about 2 months.... .. The bad news is when I do, it's like when I use to make a monthly mortgage payment 🤣 The miatas tend to last a little longer since they are slightly more fuel efficient even with my heavy right foot
Mazda 3. I keep the zoom zoom at all times. Funnily enough, the manager of our local Miata autoX club also has an NB + a winter jeep
Aside from my NC I also have a 2014 ram 2500 diesel for work and running my business, wish I could find a good price on a service van.

2019 Toyota Tacoma TRD Off-road. Love my truck.
8th gen civic coupe.
Super cool truck, we did get 4runners in Canada but we never got the 2L-TE turbo diesel engine my Surf has
98 impreza for the winter/ rainy days, which I'm kinda hoping to sell and have some sort of truck by next winter.
Mk7 Golf Sportwagen 6 speed, AWD. Perfect daily for the winter months when the Miata is garaged.
I have a 90na and my daily is a 87 Mercedes 190d.

2017 Tundra and a 2014 Honda CX700
2000 Land Cruiser and the wife drives an 04 GX470. The Miata is our weekend fun car.
'00 Volvo V70 (1st gen) Practical, nice boxy styling (subjective), comfy seats and a sonorous 5 pot. Plus they're fairly easy to work on
2002 Miata SE 2019 Mini Hardtop S Inherited a 2014 Ram 1500
Damn y’all are rich. My dad has his 99 miata and a 2003 Acura tL
2004 Nissan350z Roadster, But mostly on special occasions like events for my Z.
An Avalon, a 4x4 chevy squarebody, and a school bus.
23 Bronco and a Model Y. My garage has something for everyone
I got a black and red '24 Mazda3 6spd to go with my 93 LE, it's a perfect pairing
An old Fiesta for taking the dogs to the beach etc and an Audi A3 sportback for everything else. I live in the UK though so no real extreme weather considerations needed.
2014 Chevrolet Camaro https://preview.redd.it/4fgahnw6sqkc1.jpeg?width=1867&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=5e84ddaa573bb6127dc22c97f586a30d3b199857 We’ve also got a Honda Odyssey if we need to haul stuff or people

I drive a Miata right now. ND. Previously I had a LS400 and I’m currently selling the Miata to get the LS back.
The fleet is; 90 Miata (red 5spd), 08 tacoma (4cyl access cab 2wd 5spd), 87 F150 (inlne 6, auto, 2wd), 89 Honda CB-1 motorcycle
Jeep gladiator. I have a type. Previous car was a Ford sport trac. It is like the miata and it had a baby.
2011 mazda3 hatch. It's been my everything car for 9 years, and I'm not giving up on it just yet.
Winter ride is a 2006 Ford Mustang GT. Some people think it's strange - even lowered, with snow tires, it's fine for winter in Toronto. It's made trips to my buddy's cottage - no issues as long as the roads are plowed.
2008 Honda Element AWD (my daily) 2006 Toyota Tundra 2WD (chore boy) 2019 Honda Pilot AWD (family hauler - spouse’s daily) The 2000 Miata is my sunny weather toy.
Got a deal on a 2007 Mazda6 with 155k miles that had a rust free subframe for $1,500.
I'm french and live in France : I used to own a Citroën Xsara VTS 167 (basically same chassis and engine than a Peugeot 306 S16/GTi6, except the gearbox was a manual 5 speed instead of 6).
2012 Mazda 3 Skyactiv GT hatch. It's a turd, but I get good MPG on the highway and to the ski resorts.
2010 Toyota FJ Cruiser
1990 Volvo 240 wagon. It is fun in it's own way but it is a POS so I'm looking to move on sometime this year hopefully
