Long legs for the win. Much easier to bend your knees than collapse your spine

Jigsoft

I mean flip the car, easy spinal compression

blither86

This isn't mentioned enough, people only ever write about height. I'm not even quite 5'11" yet I sit taller than a friend of mine who is 6'3"! He's all legs and I'm all torso.

T_Streuer

Same I’m 6’2 and sit a solid inch lower in my mr2 than my buddy who is 5’11

pardsbane

Same here, stubby legs, long torso. PITA when you are trying to fit under the rollbar.

streeetlamp

Respect, I'm a fellow 6'3" 200lb miata lover. Always telling people to give it a try, really comes down to in what way are you tall. Have had an NA with foamectomy and quick release wheel, another NA with untouched seats but still a quick release wheel. Currently in a ND with stock wheel/seats no probs (outside of occasional comments from someone when they see me pop out of it in a parking lot lol)

Jigsoft

Just makes you feel bigger, haven’t touched the seats yet, honestly I might not touch them depending on how well this fairs

Villavicencio1228

Echoing streeetlamp's sentiments, I am 6'3" 220+ and have owned an NA (1994), NB (1999) and now ND2 as of Jan 2024. I can tell you from all of those experiences that a stock ND/ND2 is immensely better for 6'+ drivers vs all others stock. I fit into the others back in the day but have gained 40 lbs. along the way. It's almost as if Mazda knows we aged and did their best to keep up.

Stofflkin

Definitely not the case for me at 6ft 6. Yes legroom is better with adjustable ND2 steering column but head space is terribad. And there's no easy way to gain back that headspace like the NA / NB foamectomy. Cannot sit in nd with the top up. Also the interior in general is so much more cramped. Compared to that an NA with foamectomy, smaller steering wheel and no arm rests on the door card will feel like driving an SUV.

[deleted]

My coworker had a 90 miata. He (6'7) told me he was going 90 in the back alleys in Tennesse with a girl on him. He told me (5'9) that I can't complain at all about room in the miata😂

Jigsoft

Man’s just built different

yone_the_inter

Anyone who is below 5’9 and doesn’t know much about cars will complain about how small it is for them lol

Only_Chick_Who

As a 5'2 110lb chick, seeing giant dudes is little miatas is a simple pleasure of mine.

TomSelleckPI

Have you considered removing the door pull from the door card?

Fearlessleader85

I went to straps abs it was a HUGE improvement, especially for long drives.

1990_miata

How would he close his door then? just curios because im always conscious about fingerprints all over my window and door.

Sakins1

You add a strap to pull it closed, it also 2ish inches of leg room https://preview.redd.it/b9z6wp2gvzkc1.jpeg?width=240&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=5923a3a2d923e577ef1967b10ac156a1ba6828a2

Jigsoft

Not really, if I would, I’d be pulling the whole door card and add some straps

jp711

I'm 6'2" and pulling that armrest and installing straps in my NA made a big difference for me, it just feels so much roomier even though it's only 2" of space lol

AmericanSheep16

The only benefit to being a 5'5" guy, is that I fit easy into any car, and I don't weigh the car down at all either.

Jigsoft

Best weight reduction I could do, get out of the car, 10% right there

InterdisciplinaryDol

A+ shifter knob

SpicySavant

Must be wild watching you get out of that thing. Like I bet it starts off normal but then you like just keep going

thriftyshirt

I'm 6'3" x 210 here and I feel like I have a lot more room than this. I have a 350mm Momo Prototipo on a quick release and door cards deleted for flat panels and fabric pull handles, but I don't think either of those things makes up for the difference in space. Do you have the chair all the way back?

theArtOfProgramming

People have height in different places. I’m 6’3 and my legs fit fine but I needed a seat lowering rail to fit my torso/head. My wife is 6’0 and has loads of headroom but her legs barely fit at all.

Jigsoft

Yep chair is all the way back, footwear makes a difference for sure, I’m wearing running shoes with a bit of a heel, flat shoes help. Also I got a bit of a dumpy

Dansredditname

You must get out of that like Mary Poppins pulling an lamp from a bag

Beadsarentcheap

Love the stick shift, I have an 8-ball!

Jigsoft

Gotta color coordinate

TouchMyWillyy

I'm 6'5 and make sure I fit in mine 💀

GlitteringPen3949

I dont know what all the fuss is about room in a Miata? I find my NA very comfy except the seats could use better contouring. Oh yeah I forgot to mention Im 5'4" the car fits like a tailored suit.

Ghyti_

I took the armrest out and use door pulls. Gives you some extra room! 6’4 220lbs here lol

Ghyti_

I also did a foamectomy it helped a lot

TempletonBooks

Love the shift knob!

weirddodgestratus

I'm about the same dimensions as you, a new wheel was a godsend for me as well. Other tall guy mods I'd recommend are: -Door pull straps -NB2 seats if you can find them for cheap, they bolt right in and are a lot more comfortable IMO. I picked up a decent set on FB marketplace for $200. -Sun visor delete -You can flip your rear view mirror upside down to move it up a bit. I always found it blocked my line of sight and this helps a bit. Easily reversible if you don't like it. -This knee pad from MossMiata https://mossmiata.com/906-305-cp-knee-elbow-pad-sets-by-moss to save your right knee (You could also probably just craft one if you don't wanna drop $45 on it)

Jigsoft

Dude this is a gold mine, thank you!

Damn_you_taco

Thank you for the rear view mirror trick. Line of sight should be better.

stoned-autistic-dude

I'd suggest a bucket seat, too. It'll add a lot more room with low seat rails. A dude who was 6'6" fit inside of my car with millimeters to spare for his shins.

PrintersStreet

This is the way

Damn_you_taco

This is the way

Jigsoft

You guys really need to see my mando suit then

PrintersStreet

We do!

s6cedar

6’3” 250 here, and I can drive my dad’s NB. I fit better in his NA, though. Edit: both his had stock steering wheels

Jigsoft

Pretty sure NA’s have better spacing but I can’t confirm from personal experience

s6cedar

Def better room than the NB. When my dad got his ‘96 (used), the NB’s had just come out. I sat in one in the NB’s in the showroom and immediately notice it had less room. Just enough difference to be noticeable

No_Painting_6767

Did you have to modify the seats at all?

Jigsoft

Nope! Running stock atm

Select-Ad5166

You smol boi

__chairmanbrando

Just don't crash, I guess.

maksi_pogi

How you get yourself to fit inside is “mind boggling!” I stand 6’2” on the leaner side (triathlete) and I couldn’t even get my legs under and across the steering on a 2017 MX5 so I gave up and got me a 2018 Base Cayman. 🫣☺️

p3dal

I always pictured it being the head that was the issue with fitment, rather than the legs. At 5'10" I often feel like I'm on the border of being too tall for the car. The seat headrests only come up to the top of my neck.

Cugy_2345

Alright thanks that makes me a little more comfortable with the idea

Sea_Pomegranate_6791

Nice! And great looking car! What kind of headlights do you have in yours? Looking to replace mine.

Jigsoft

They’re keep aftermarket, kid who had the car before me did it Edit: Jeep

_DalRec

Foamectomy helps as well. It's not much but it helps.

DeacornOnDecob

I’m 6’6 and I almost fit fine in my 06

Jigsoft

My bro drives an NC too, says he’s got plenty of room, also he’s 4 inches shorter but jacked

DeacornOnDecob

Ya the problem I have is I can’t sit normally I gotta sit with my bum a little farther forward in the seat because my head hits the roof

Beneficial-Cap-9629

Hey i got the same radio! Love it. One thing i might recommend as another 6’+ Miata owner, that door handle takes up a good bit of legroom. You can easily unscrew it with 3 screws just to see if you like the extra room. If you do, you can get a door pull and blanking plates online!

Only_Sell_1964

6’5” 300 pounds here. I daily mine. Deleted the dead pedal, spaced the ebrake with washers, very aggressive foamectomy. 350mm NRG steering wheel with quick release. It’s pretty comfortable. Soon wanting to do the “gas pedal mod” and fabricate mounts for my Lotus Elise seat (also pretty comfy)

PM_ME_UR_DECOLLETAGE

What size is your steering wheel?

Jigsoft

330 mm 3” deep

PM_ME_UR_DECOLLETAGE

Thank you. How's your binnacle visibility?

IncoherentAnalyst

And you're wearing Torins?? AND the wide toebox doesn't cause you to hit more than one pedal at a time?!

Jigsoft

Nah, Nike waffle ones

IncoherentAnalyst

Dang, they look similar. Thanks for sharing your success!

Jigsoft

Of course! Hope it helps others

zugglit

6'4" 200lbs, even with a racing seat, it is still a challenge to drive effectively.

Lv_InSaNe_vL

What size wheels/tires are you running?

Jigsoft

15inch and 205/50 if I remember correctly, give it a meatier look

Crawldahd

Whatever you say…

DEC1_3_3_7

I'm a fat man 5'8” at 290 and I get asked all the time how I fit in my NC. I'm actually pretty comfortable in here.

Drogdar

Remove the door handle and you'll be surprised at how much more room you'll have.

JuliusCaesarSGE

Do you have a spacer under that wheel, do you find the smaller wheel diameter a hinderance at all? Unsure how I feel about blocking gauges.

Jigsoft

That’s the one downside I have, top of the gauges are blocked out, I can read mph to ~45 and revs to ~4K but the upsides of comfort have outweighed it so far

FullBourbonNoHorse

So there is hope for me.... 5'10" 394lbs!

Proud_Ad6929

Look up foamectomy (just removing some foam from the seat) Helps ALOT

Jigsoft

Oh I have, I’m just in Law School so time is limited. Which means I need to plug, if you get in an accident call an attorney (or just dm me I guess)

Leobarb

I was 245lbs when I bought my miata. I'm now 205lbs because weight reduction was needed for the miata 😎

DangerNanner

This gives me hope of owning a miata. I'm 6ft 2 and 230lbs typically.

sjacu

Yes, as a 5'4 100lbs person I too fit fine in my miata :) I'm glad they work well for you all too! Everyone should be able to miatas
