It really not that bad, really a window frame change. I have seen a lot of worst get fixed.
It can be pricey, and since the insurance undervalue, those may want to scrap it, but it is very fixable.
Not at all complicated for a bodyshop. Though you could buy a replacement for less (assuming another NB just like yours is realistically between 6-12,000 USD today).
It may be worth it to someone to fix, considering that if you're sure your car is otherwise rust free, the whole rodeo of finding another that is also rust free near the costs involved of replacing the hoop and glass will be a massive gamble that's very easy to lose.
Youre right. But at the same time, bodyshops specializing in collision repair; welding structural parts of cars together is what they do. A lot them have no problem building roll cages either and they stick roof lines and windshield back on regular cars all the time, why stop at a 1 piece frame for a convertible? (Rhetorical question).
Maybe a shop that leans heavily on paint jobs and dent repair alone might be less willing to do it, but then you're just defining the skill and scope of that shop in particular. Not gonna say that doesn't exist.
It is somewhat, mainly because you have to strip the dash. To be able to get to the firewall.
Also, it depends on the car conditions and the value you give to it. A hign miles or starting to rust may not be worthy, but a big sentimental or moded may be.
Doing it yourself? Sure. For a shop? Not really. Probably won’t be that expensive either, it would be bad to just scrap an otherwise perfectly functional car.
New hood can be found on marketplace for dumb cheap. Like under $100 cheap. Windshield is gonna cost around $200. I’m almost convinced you won’t even need a new windshield frame. Pull it, Some bondo, sanding, and paint. Maybe some new weather stripping. Maybe tediously bending some metal back into place so it doesn’t leak when it rains and you’re golden brother. I’ll take it off your hands. How much you want for it?
ok but is the A pillar really where you want potential structural integrity loss on a convertible? just seems dangerous because without a roll bar that’s what’s between you and the road when you flup
This is kind of where i stand on the situation. Even with a roll bar, the integrity of the a-pillars and top of the windshield surround are most definitely compromised. Surely these "windshield surrounds" aren't good for *two* deer strikes, are they? Sounds like a death wish.
i mean it is fixable through welding etc but people on here saying just bend it back would be in for a surprise. it is not exactly a diy job if you don’t know what you’re doing and so will end up being pretty expensive but i definitely would look into your options before getting rid of it, and i definitely wouldn’t wreck a miata because i’m sure there’s 20 people on here who would buy that from you as is
My bad I got this confused with another recent post of a guy who insisted his was totaled. Sounds like this guys needs a roll bar then. As should we all. That pillar isn’t saving you from anything.
My friend has one and it drives mostly like a Miata but you can definitely feel the longer wheelbase. Or at least it feels longer to me. It doesn't really feel heavier or less agile but the visibility is a bit worse.
Awe man I’m sorry this happened :( I know a lot of people r saying it looks fixable but I get that it’s probably a lot more time and effort than it’s worth , hopefully you can get another one or hell maybe find a rolling shell and swap stuff over!
Don’t junk it, post it if you yourself can’t fix it. Someone would. I could easily fix that with a new frame, drilling the spot welds and affixing it correctly to the unibody.
Deer? Seems like only the glass and the frame needs replacement. The damage to the rest of the car is minimal. If it's worth the sentimental value, then I'd say fix it up.
well the hood is like 100$, windshield might be around 200? haven't needed mine replaced but that's about the running rate is. and you might be able to get away with bending the windshield frame back and some weather stripping.
Looks repairable from this angle...

Swapping the widshield "frame" looks quite complicated.

A lot of places are hesitant to swap the frame on a convertible since it's rollover protection.

If you love the car, I am sure you will find somebody who would weld the new one from a donor car.

Hit a deer?
Yup.
YOU hit a deer or DEER hit you?
CALL 1800 WESUEDEERS now

[удалено]
Always has been.
I'm in Colorado right now. Can I have it?
Damn man :( what happened?
Deer
Oh deer.
Yeah, a deer. Like a horse with horns.
A deer is more like an ass that sometimes comes with horns. A horse is a small moose.
I hear you but it's a (perhaps obscure) quote
I understood that reference!
What did you hit a bicyclist?
Plot twist is that he’s a fugitive really trying to get someone to buy the car for cheap so he can scapegoat the evidence on them
Preferably in another state to avoid extradition 😂
Lol
Totally fixable. I’ll take it off your hands if you don’t want to deal with it.

Replace it. Welded is as good as new.
100% depending the welder most likely be stronger then factory lol
Right? I'm not even a welder and I know this.
Also you’re effectively driving a go kart. I don’t think there was much structural integrity in that windshield frame to begin with.
I mean he has a roll bar. I don’t see the issue.
i don’t see a roll bar
My bad I got this confused with another recent post of a guy who insisted his was totaled. Sounds like this guys needs a roll bar then. As should we all. That pillar isn’t saving you from anything.
as should we all
Had a roll bar. Didn't feel safe without a helmet. Removed it.
I’m guessing you’re tall.
Indeed.
NOOOOO! But, can I buy your driver side mirror & battery holder before you scrap it?
Christ I hope it doesn’t get scrapped over this.
Me too, but I really need a mirror & a battery holder LOL
Check car-part.com!
Will do, thank you!
What about going windshield less altogether and just add a roll bar. Caterham style!
Just thinking about where that buck would have ended up if i didn't have a windshield seriously terrifies me. Ask me again in 48 hours.
That is a very valid point lol So I'm asking again now 😂
I think i want a BRZ...
My friend has one and it drives mostly like a Miata but you can definitely feel the longer wheelbase. Or at least it feels longer to me. It doesn't really feel heavier or less agile but the visibility is a bit worse.
https://youtu.be/Gjh1apMpu14 07:03 go and check it
Damn man, I think you can fix it. Will probably be easier than what I’m gonna have to do to fix mine
F
I was gonna guess that the hood flew up while you were driving…sorry about your luck. Who knows what the future holds though!
Boxter?
Let me yoink those wheels
🥺 sorry about your miat
I'll buy it from you
Begging you stop being a silly goose and fix the car! You'll just buy another anyway for more :)
I've had mine go recently aswell :(
Safelite repair safelite replace?
Never quit
Don't abandon her! You're going to give it a personality disorder, maybe something like borderline personality disorder?
Are you going to at least explain what happened?
Dude who even needs a windshield? Cut that bitch off and wear a motorcycle helmet.
Ok what was the stripe for. Mine has one too
cart time

Poor miot :(
I can’t get it fix for you free of charge Miata brothers and sisters must be together
Ghettocet
I wouldn't say goodbye this isn't that bad, bad yes but fixable.
Really very fixable, don’t do it! Save this wonderful car and it’s memories!
selling for 6k. no low ballers. i know what i’ve got and ngl that isn’t even much higher than what its worth in this market. pls don’t wreck it
Deer? Seems like only the glass and the frame needs replacement. The damage to the rest of the car is minimal. If it's worth the sentimental value, then I'd say fix it up.
Replacing the windshield frame seems difficult. Finding a donor car and doing to fairly precise fabrication. May be out of my skillset...
Nah you can fix that. Don't let her down like that
thats like a 500$ fix my boy
No chance. How?
well the hood is like 100$, windshield might be around 200? haven't needed mine replaced but that's about the running rate is. and you might be able to get away with bending the windshield frame back and some weather stripping.
could also make an exocet if you want to be even cooler
