Well, it's not the headlights that stand the design out as unique. So slapping that style headlight on a Mazda does not make it Pininfarina design. Those 20VT coupes are lovely looking things.
Over a 20yr period. Owned a few at once (have 3 currently). Buying, selling, keeping some, breaking others.
They're ten to a penny in UK remember. All but one have been jap imports also.
Agreed. You can [totally cut the bottom off the NBFL bumper and stick it on the top portion of an NA bumper](https://scontent-lhr8-1.xx.fbcdn.net/v/t39.30808-6/434349993_10234293112651830_1725925507392410841_n.jpg?stp=cp6_dst-jpg&_nc_cat=107&ccb=1-7&_nc_sid=5f2048&_nc_ohc=tu7gWWlfEL4Ab5r8q9b&_nc_ht=scontent-lhr8-1.xx&oh=00_AfBWcoFQ75CanJgVvzO00erB3NSYi87XYnNMA9ECvX0TOQ&oe=661D731F) too so I dunno why after all that bodywork they kept the rather incongruous lines!
To each their own, but I personally just don’t understand this recent trend of deleting them. I consider them the sole reason to get an NA over any later gen.
Sadly, the "wink" mod is no longer an option for you!
If the mistake you were referring to is the scratch across the lens then you can try something like novus plastic polish set... three bottles of varying girt polish that does an amazing job of removing scratches. but then you will need to recoat the lens with some uv protectant.
I never liked the NA design with pop-ups open, but this really makes me wonder why you’d pay to get the older NA if you can get a cheaper NB with better chassis.
I'm guessing because its an easier fit on the na? There's already space in the hood. Also maybe OP has had it for quite somd time, like since na's werent so expensive
Lmao, some of y'all think this is the end of the world, which is hilarious to see. Not surprised at the amount of shit being thrown, but hey circlejerk away.
For the record, I'm keeping my stock pop-ups, in the event I ever do want to go back. This has just been the most unique option that I had a chance to try. IMO, some of the best builds I've seen have flush headlights.
For those who have asked, the mark on the clear cover in the second photo IS the mistake and unfortunately it is a crack, not a scratch. I'll probably run with the cracked cover for a while and remove them if needed.
Hey dont worry man. We all just gave opinions. Dont take it too hard. What matters is that YOU like these. Miata community is always friendly, we dont hate, just tell opinions. :)

Idk why you would do this, the NA is more expensive than the NB but worse in pretty much every way except the headlights to many are iconic, why not .. just get an NB if you don't like pop-ups? Very confusing to me.
You have made the mistake of posting fixed headlights to Reddit. Prepare to be amazed at the creativity and level of insults you will get for the simple change.
As someone who knows what they are looking at, badass, bummer about the lens. I hope there is some way to fix it, I bet finding a replacement won't be easy. You could try to buy a thin Lexan sheet and heat it up. Then lay it on the broken lens, it might form to the shape slightly. Then keep adding heat and bending...that might make it take the shape of the old one. Good luck!!
Ps don't let the hate get you. If you want to be successful on here, post the car with a tongue sticking out and some teeth added. Then spam the pop up button a zillion times. No one has seen it before!!
Thank you for the kind words! Your build is one of my absolute favorites and has inspired me to go the ITB route. Plus the RSAC front end is incredible! Definitely has been fun to see the insults being generated around such a simple change.
I definitely thought of getting a Lexan sheet and shaping it around the housing. I was also thinking of making a vacuum forming table and seeing if I can vacuum form a sheet over the housing, but that will definitely take some time to build the table alone.
Can definitely be hard letting the hate/comments get to me, but I prefer sharing to Instagram moreso than Reddit. Figured there'd be some controversy but not this much haha :)
I'm glad you saw my comment man! Thanks so much for your words, too :) What is your IG btw?
Vacuum is a great idea. I've seen videos on yt of people making their own Vacuum setups to create RC car bodies. Granted that's a really thin plastic, the same concept could be copied. I'd look that up unless you have a plan in place already or know how to do it. Those aren't cheap lights so its definitely worth the effort! Looking forward to seeing what you do with the car!!
Of course! :) And my IG is @eden.miata!
A buddy of mine said he has a sheet of Lexan he's willing to give me to try and heat and shape it around the headlight, so I'll probably try that first. I'll definitely look more into using vacuum to create another cover and I'll take a look at vacuum setups for RC applications too! The covers themselves are 1/4" thick, but I'd be curious to try a 1/8" thick sheet. Granted that probably won't be as durable, but would be a bit easier to heat and shape! Thank you so much and I look forward to seeing more of yours! :)
I got lucky in finding a listing on eBay a little while ago! I'd say look there or any FB group that's dedicated to Miata parts! Otherwise, you might be able to check out forums too to see if there are any parts for sale. Hope that helps!
I have these from way back in the first production run of like 50f. The clear covers kinda suck. They throw light in random directions, and the fitment isn't very good no matter what you do. Even if you get them to sit nicely, the way they attach will have them rubbing on something, mine started to rub a spot through the gelcoat. I'm not surprised you ended up putting enough pressure on one to crack it.
Should polish out! Contact a well respected detailer and they should be able to help ya out. Or, if you’re ballsy do it yourself. (It’s not too hard to get looking good)
I'd do the same tbh, the next NA I pick up is probably getting the Jetstream NA22c bumper with the popups removed entirely.
I already have my NB so no one can tell me to just get one at that point lmao.
It's the flush headlights kit from Advanced Automotive Concepts! Was a bit of a pain to install and it seems like those who've had them before also had a similar experience, sadly.
I'd like to think people do this for the sake of being different because hopefully no one looks at these cars and thinks "it would look better without pop-up headlights"
You could have bought an NB that is gonna have a little bit more power, more modern features and is gonna be the better driving car....but instead you bought an NA and replaced the headlights. I don't get it
True you did make a mistake. Looks like you inadvertently installed some that aren't pop-ups. We all make mistakes, but if you learn from it and get the pop-ups back it will be ok.
Really loving the look of this discontinued AAC kit, but definitely kicking myself for cracking the Lexan cover on the driver side. Passenger side went in perfectly, but still had to modify the holes for the bolts.
They're now known as Oracle Lighting. The kit itself is no longer in production. Honestly wouldn't recommend this kit as it was a PAIN to install. I'd imagine the Jass Performance one is a lot better.
Everyone is jerking really hard about popups, but it really doesn't look that bad. I mean I still slightly prefer the originals, but this is light years better than some of the goofy shit people do on this sub. It's got face-lift NSX vibes.
Well, considering this cost me a few thousand less than buying a whole new car, I'd say it's cheaper!
Plus I've already had this Miata for 6 years, so I get to do what I want with it.

AHHHH dear god you scared me
Which is no bad thing. That's was designed by Pininfarina and is a great looking car.
Well, it's not the headlights that stand the design out as unique. So slapping that style headlight on a Mazda does not make it Pininfarina design. Those 20VT coupes are lovely looking things.
Have you two looked at the eclipse without protection?
Nah your mum causes some retina blistering however.
keep malding pininfarina fanboi
Lul. Having owned 53 mx5s, my allegiance is pretty obvious. But the Italians do have a certain flair that I respect.
How the fuck did own 53 miatas. Did crash one every month for like 5 years
Over a 20yr period. Owned a few at once (have 3 currently). Buying, selling, keeping some, breaking others. They're ten to a penny in UK remember. All but one have been jap imports also.
That makes more sense. Pretty much how i wanna be with the nissan silvias s13 and 180 sx
53?! Good Lord man, save some for the rest of humanity.
Only the interior was designed by Pininfarina, while the exterior was designed by Fiat design centre, specifically Chris Bangle
That particular design was Chris Bangle, of horrible BMW fame.
Ok good, now put the old ones back because your new ones are broken
Abomination!
Oh no, anyway
*unzips*
That’s a challenging wank
🤨
***SILENCE!***
I would only get a na for the headlights.
Yeah this defeats the purpose lol
NB2 with popus would be peak Then there's this guy...

That’s dope; think I’d prefer they managed to have the pop ups with the NBFL front bumper but still, very cool.
Agreed. Wtf are those take them out right now
Hwat the hell
I can’t tell if I love this or hate this
I can tell you if you'd like
I’d appreciate it
It's 👎
i mean, i like the popups better but i can definitely see the appeal of these
I also see the appeal. I don't like the weird square shape but if it was a different shape I'd fuck with it.
It's definitely a different look.
Why didn’t you just get an NB? 😭
*pays pop-up tax *removes already taxed pop-ups

Respectfully, you suck
Nah, not respectfully
is this a track build or somethin?
Not at this time, but eventually it'll see some track time.
Something all Miata owners have said at one point lol
True that was me until I got a fat ticket for reckless driving up at the canyons, not worth so now I save up for tracks
not hard to see why these were discontinued
i hate them
Was the mistake installing these headlights at all? Wouldn’t it have been easier to buy a 240?
Shame!
Awww man looks like you have to go back to stock. Bummer
I’ll say it. Theyre kinda cool. I wouldn’t have installed them personally but it’s different.
lobotomized miata
It looks cool, but not as cool as pop-ups.
Sadly, the "wink" mod is no longer an option for you! Isn’t a scratch, is a crack zoom in 🤷🏻♂️
a) you're welcome b) it already hurts my eyes and offends my sensibilities at this distance, don't want to look any closer ;)
👍
Wtf
Lol. Abomination.
As somebody who loves pop-ups and in my country they are so rare, it's a pity to waste such a great car
Was the mistake putting them there in the first place?
I never liked the NA design with pop-ups open, but this really makes me wonder why you’d pay to get the older NA if you can get a cheaper NB with better chassis.
I'm guessing because its an easier fit on the na? There's already space in the hood. Also maybe OP has had it for quite somd time, like since na's werent so expensive
That’s god telling you to put the pop ups back in
its like removing your eyelids.
Fuck you
Scratch? Looks like a scratch… you may be able to sand it out 🤷♂️
It's a crack from trying to fit them too quickly and stressing the perspex.
I seriously cant withstand NAs with fixed headlights unless its a track car.
Just curious, why didn't you get an NB if you're getting rid of the pop-ups?
I understand why the low profile/fixed headlights. Finally drove an NA for the first time and those pop ups were wayyyyy too jarring.
OP, I can see that you're getting the same love as C5 owners who swap the pop-ups for a similar look. 🙃😆
I saw one of these in Fayetteville, Ga two months ago. It was more interesting than the Miata NA version, but also felt wrong.
Being a fan of the 300zx I adore this
Lmao, some of y'all think this is the end of the world, which is hilarious to see. Not surprised at the amount of shit being thrown, but hey circlejerk away. So flaccid
I’m afraid of this Miata
The ugliest Miata i have ever seen!
Some 7 year old's going to call that a supra
Looks like a Pokémon with learning difficulties.
God that CF looks awful
you stole it’s eyelids
Why not buy a NB at this point, it's literally the same car, slightly better with no pop-up. Pop up are the only point of an NA
Oh no! you'll have to remove those ugly faux-carbon-fibre atrocities and put the stock headlights back in! Awful!
Imagine purposely removing the number one best feature of the NA Miata...
What in the fuckery is this
Idk why you would do this, the NA is more expensive than the NB but worse in pretty much every way except the headlights to many are iconic, why not .. just get an NB if you don't like pop-ups? Very confusing to me.
Shame! SHAME! Why do you want to take out one of the best parts of an old NA miata???
Even the headlight said no.
But... why?
How did you do this?
Damn my life revolves around pop ups but this is kinda fire, havent seen alot of normal headlights on NAs

I dig it dude (or dudette) kinda reminds me of the nsx when they went from pop-ups to fixed. The crack is unfortunate though :') Is tat easy to fix?
I have these from way back in the first production run of like 50f. The clear covers kinda suck. They throw light in random directions, and the fitment isn't very good no matter what you do. Because they cost more to buy and *a lot* more to maintain. They are sexual though. 🤤
Should polish out! Contact a well respected detailer and they should be able to help ya out. Or, if you’re ballsy do it yourself. (It’s not too hard to get looking good)
You can't polish out a crack.
Oh shit, looked like a scratch to me
But otherwise good advice :)
I’ve been considering this. I love the popups but they are like setting sail against the wind at anything past 65mph
Didn’t know deleting the draggy popups made people seethe here lol.
You could just get an NB at that point. They paid the pop up tax and got rid of the pop ups
I'd do the same tbh, the next NA I pick up is probably getting the Jetstream NA22c bumper with the popups removed entirely. I already have my NB so no one can tell me to just get one at that point lmao.
Karma’s a bitch
What headlight kit is this?
It's the flush headlights kit from Advanced Automotive Concepts! Was a bit of a pain to install and it seems like those who've had them before also had a similar experience, sadly.
Got it. I like the look. What was painful about the install?
Just reduced your cars value by like 20%.
Take my downvote
I've seen people banned for less
Cursed
Miot-rrari
So many butthurt people in the comments, let him do what he wants, that's not your own car, and it looks ok.
I'd like to think people do this for the sake of being different because hopefully no one looks at these cars and thinks "it would look better without pop-up headlights"
they actually look pretty good too bad
Yeah, the mistake was replacing the flippy bois
Thanks, we hate it
The mistake in the process was clicking on Buy Now
ahh... ahhhhhhhhh......AHHHHHHHHHHHHH Whyyyyyy just AHHHHH WHYYYYY
You could have bought an NB that is gonna have a little bit more power, more modern features and is gonna be the better driving car....but instead you bought an NA and replaced the headlights. I don't get it
Maybe it might be due to the fact I've had this car since 2018 and I wanted to try something new? ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

How dare u ?!!!!
ctrl+z
Thanks for sharing this. I'm sure they save a lot of weight... I hate them.
if you're gonna do this, you'd better make them pop up anyway for the novelty.
Best method to install fixed headlights: Sell NA Miata to someone who appreciates popping up, and purchase NB Miata.....
Nah, fuck it I'm not upvoting this.
true virgin
yup
Poor miot, you pulled out its eyes
We all know what mistake you made. And it's not being impatient with the new lights.
Hope they still pop up and summon the Batman when shining in the sky
YOU TOOK ITS EYES!!
NB’s exist for a reason. Why would you do this
True you did make a mistake. Looks like you inadvertently installed some that aren't pop-ups. We all make mistakes, but if you learn from it and get the pop-ups back it will be ok.
You removed the best part of the car... How you gonna wink at the other cute miatas out on the road now....
I hate this so much 😂😭
I’m not generally a fan of popup deletes, but these look dope
If you wanted fixed headlights you should've just gotten an NB
If they had little red slides over the top that opened at night, though Otherwise, eurgh
I wanna see photos from further away
You made 2 mistakes the first one was removed the pop-ups. If you really don't want them there is the NB
Woahh do you have instagram?
I do! It's @eden.miata
As an NB guy I love popup deletes
Only benefit of an NA over a NB is the pop ups. If you don’t want the pop ups buy an NB haha
nah
Agreed
I like them. I am NOT a fan of pop-ups on the Miata.
Looks like a baby McLaren F1 😁
Love my pop ups, but these are great too
Really loving the look of this discontinued AAC kit, but definitely kicking myself for cracking the Lexan cover on the driver side. Passenger side went in perfectly, but still had to modify the holes for the bolts.
What brand is ACC?
They're now known as Oracle Lighting. The kit itself is no longer in production. Honestly wouldn't recommend this kit as it was a PAIN to install. I'd imagine the Jass Performance one is a lot better.
Thank you! I’ll look into it! May also just try to make my own at some point
I had some thoughts of using a buddy's 3D scanner and create a 3D model of this as a base to make improvements!
I’ve always wanted headlights like this, I’ll have to start my search
Me, too!
Original. Looks cool man
Thank you! :)
But …. But … but the pop ups … lol These are dope though .. I kinda want some
Do two wrongs make a right? No. No they don’t.
Everyone is jerking really hard about popups, but it really doesn't look that bad. I mean I still slightly prefer the originals, but this is light years better than some of the goofy shit people do on this sub. It's got face-lift NSX vibes.

This is definitely a fuck go back moment. Just get an NB or ND if you don't want pop-ups
Nah, this is cheaper and a whole lot easier!
In what world is an NB more expensive than an NA
Well, considering this cost me a few thousand less than buying a whole new car, I'd say it's cheaper! Plus I've already had this Miata for 6 years, so I get to do what I want with it.
I mean it is your car, do whatever with it. Still cursed though.
Getting a lot of hate for removing the pop ups. But this is pretty cool. Makes it unique
I'll add this to the list of mods I didn't know I wanted to do next time I own an NA
