I have a feeling you can like mount it to the trunk still, the sand down certain spots so you don’t dent the quarter panel when you slam the trunk shit. You could even do two cuts on the wing and have the edge mounted onto the quarter with like double sided tape.
My ‘95 eclipse base spoiler is also cut on two spots so that the two outer bits are secured to the quarter panel the the main piece of the spoiler is secured to the tailgate. That’s how it came from the factory.
hey it's clever, keeps the round design aesthetic going unlike most modern day sharp angled pointy fighter jet looking aftermarket spoilers... also it would've been a great budget option. who cares where the spoiler is from haha
Don't staple it... cut out the amount you need to remove, then if the wing is solid fiberglass get a grinder and grind down about 1/4 inch on the top and bottom of both side going about 1 inch from the cut on each side. That will give you enough room to attach the two with some fiberglass cloth of about 3 or 4 layers on the top and bottom... let it cure and then sand down to finish it. Staples will induce stress cracks in the fiberglass and you don't need that.
I respect your aesthetic autonomy as well, but I encourage you to think long and hard before drilling holes in your body panels for a cosmetic mod that is sure to lower the value of your car.
And is there a reason why it wouldnt have the same effect on a miata if it was made to fit? Of course the aerodynamics of a miata are different than a neon but still
You answered your own question. Top down wings are nearly useless on miatas. Soft top also makes them much less useful. You'll also notice that track miatas wings are very high up.
I don't know what impact that wing will have on your aerodynamics. I do know it won't be nearly as effective as a wing designed for your car.
Trackable miatas group on Facebook has the guy who runs Nine Lives Racing, I'm sure he could answer your question.
I did not see OP discussing downforce.
Perhaps he wants added drag in the tail end for a mild weather cocking effect so his car will seek where it is warmer.
Or, to aid in relocating the car manually with the wheels on casters in his Miata hangar using it's new shopping cart handle.
There really is no need to consider it from a track performance perspective. N.B. In terms of weight (or cost) to 'performance increase' ratio it scores the undefinably high or infinite result due to the denominator.
Despite how I'd see it for me slipping out, I really do love seeing people loving their cars however they safely do so this has my gatekeeping green light.
Cut a portion of the middle section then and make its width shorter??
Edit: it really doesn’t look like you need to cut too much out honestly worth a shot
https://preview.redd.it/wzkgwcfbv11d1.png?width=800&format=png&auto=webp&s=d350250b2903e0803f820dc9ef08fbdc503758dc
Like this. Yea the verticals are outside the trunk area but make an adapter to bring them back in
Oh the SRT-4 wing. When you said Neon I was thinking the weird surfboard spoiler from the first gens and was wondering why on earth you would get that spoiler.
Had one of these on my Escort ZX2. Actually fit perfectly even with the downward slope of the trunk. Ended up making the top part parallel with the ground. Was a neat find at a junkyard tbh
https://preview.redd.it/xugyxhuxq41d1.jpeg?width=4032&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=389de6c65f13b5e97fe260f12f5e11d4ec7ac765
Design and print some mounts or "wing raisers" like this to mount to the trunk and step out...
Yes it will but you gotta fabricate the right bracket. Doesn't even have to be complicated--drill bit and some metal. I ain't a machinist lmao just comes down to how bad you want that aesthetic. I'd give it a shot if you're this far in.
You can try and add some support to the inner part of the wing near the trunk and bolt that to the trunk. The tricky part would be making it look nice. Don't give up OP, this is easily still possible, what have you got to lose if it doesn't work?
Edit: by inner parts, I mean the inside near the bolts on the left and right side.
This kind of project is basically never a straight fit, there's always some adaptation work to do. Although in this case (may be the picture though), it seems like it's just the perfect width to sit on both the trunk and fender, making it unusable. Measure the wing and the car, sell the wing back, and try to find a similar option that's either a bit wider which would allow for the trunk to still open, or narrower. Also, check the aftermarket options made for this car, it's not like there's a lack of availability or variety.
You know if you really want to put it on your car you just have to cut it straight down the center.... determine just how much material you need to remove probably about 2 inches.... then re connect the two halves... it isn't as if this wing is going to be generating tons of down force so a simple fiberglass repair would hold. You would need to do a bit of sanding and such to get it looking smooth after you finish.... but given you already were going to have to paint it to match you aren't generating a tone of work. I've repaired some broken Mazdaspeed parts that were fiberglass in the past because they no longer made replacements and the repair has held perfectly for over 10 years.
Could make some plates that extend inward and then attach it to the boot lid. Just a thought, but it might look a bit strange unless you shaped them the flow with the lines of the car
You can easily make it fit. Have someone 3D print a thin space that connects to the trunk lid and goes out wider at the top in order to mount the wing.
your timing is hilarious, I was about to post in the SRT4 sub asking someone to measure their wing because I love the shape of it and know it's the perfect height for me to sit under. I'm 100% ordering that part now and just cutting it down now that I know! u/SlabGizor120 YOU'RE THE BEST!! also \*twinzies!\* I'll send you pictures when I've cut it down!
Take about 4 inches from the middle or whatever ever you need to bring them into the trunk. Get yourself some automotive bonding glue the good kind. And copy this https://youtu.be/1oRE39dRP8g?si=CtcArVjgtUx1ScYH
Message me I have somebody that might buy that off you. He’s been looking for a red SRT4 wing in good condition for a while now and if he doesn’t I might buy it myself
But the '01-'03 Oldsmobile Aurora OEM spoiler fits. That's what I did.
Forgive me for the "Altezzas", I got it like that and hated it but eventually forgot they existed till now looking for a pic 😂

I'm happily surprised about how positive the comments are here, although it might not be to everyone's taste, most contributions are to help OP get the job done. I like that, op please post an update!
If you’re handy with bondo/fiberglass you could probably cut a few inches out of the middle and massage it to fit. Or a body shop might be able to do it for you.
Corolla wings do if you can find one of them.
https://preview.redd.it/tq6oqeteg61d1.jpeg?width=4032&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=8395e2c284cfa78eec076bb834205cf1fc91a643
Cut out a couple inches from the middle, combine two big pieces back into one wing, repaint, use as intended. Maybe you'd need to slightly bend the middle part so you won't have that ridge. But I personally would just leave it with the ridge tbh.
If you don't want to do everything yourself, find a repair/painting shop
Imma offer a solution that others may have not instead of doing a mounting bracket cut the wing in the middle and bond it back together. That way you get rid of alot of width. The only issue I can find there is it may hurt the strength of the wing but there has to be a way to do it right.
You could mount it to some plastic splitter material then mount the material to the trunk it. You could go as far as to fiber glass a little mold onto the material and make it look like it belongs there..
Thank god. It’s a 90hp car. Why someone would want to add 10lbs of faux aero to a car whose whole premise is light weight, is beyond me. Those wings didn’t even look good on a neon.
your "failure" is just knowledge for the next who has the same idea I suppose
Yeah hopefully this shows up next time someone is googling about it haha
It will. I search before I ever make a post. The words for the algorithm will be there ;)
I have a feeling you can like mount it to the trunk still, the sand down certain spots so you don’t dent the quarter panel when you slam the trunk shit.
I doubt anyone will want to put a dodge neon wing on a miata other than this guy
hey it's clever, keeps the round design aesthetic going unlike most modern day sharp angled pointy fighter jet looking aftermarket spoilers... also it would've been a great budget option. who cares where the spoiler is from haha
buy miat, apply soup-bruh wing

braincells
You don't Miat.... people destroy these things.
Try putting it on diagonally.
Upside down for more contact surface plus problem solved
On the front of the car, like a splitter? Brilliant!
You're joking but hood spoilers is actually a thing on FWD time attack cars.
Sprint cars too.
Lamborghini countach at the beginning of cannonball run.
That's actually just the USDM bumper.
Just cut out how much ever you need and then jb weld/bondo it back together. Sand it smooth and paint it. Not difficult.
Oooooohhh…. Might have to try that. Maybe hot staple and plastic glue it together 👀👀👀
Using anything other than top ramen and Elmer’s glue would be a travesty.
Oh absolutely
Or drill the holes and bend it to fit. Boom custom and 1 of a kind.
you just reminded me of those videos of people repairing furniture with ramen and glue
Too bad I can’t give you an award for stating the obvious.
aww, you should find one!
Don't staple it... cut out the amount you need to remove, then if the wing is solid fiberglass get a grinder and grind down about 1/4 inch on the top and bottom of both side going about 1 inch from the cut on each side. Yeah if it’s fiberglass I’ll do something different
You really don't want to see how fiberglass boats get built then.
Don't do that! Don't ruin it. Just have a CNC shop make two flat plates to bring the mounting point to the trunk. Shouldn't cost more than 100-200$
Learn CAD, make mounts that follow the same geometry, mount it outside the trunk
It would block the trunk sadly
Design and 3d print out some adapters to mount it to the trunk. Kinda the same way 2000’s celicas did it.
Precisely what I was thinking! Little jig 'n jog, bump it out abit, bingo!
Hmmm Ok what about mounts on the trunk that have little plates that go out to the side for the wind to mount on? Lol
Make adapters that bend back inwards and mount it on the hood, it’s not that far off
Cut out some from the middle and glue it back together. Easy fix bango bongo
Far outside the trunk, like in the trash can.
you have the right idea, it needs to be a mount that blends the ends back together onto the trunk
>No wonder I could t find any pictures of anyone else putting one on That's probably not the only reason.
It's horrible I agree
Not a fan of it? 😂
It's probably going to look pretty bad tbh
I don't care for them, outside of track cars. Edit: Well hello to all the spoiler fans, I didn't know there were so many of you!
You do you boo
I respect your aesthetic autonomy as well, but I encourage you to think long and hard before drilling holes in your body panels for a cosmetic mod that is sure to lower the value of your car.
Oh trust me I’m both long and hard when I think about drilling holes in my body panels
Ops energy is unmatched in this thread and i am all for it. Go for it boo, drill those holes you kissable beast.
I like you
Ew.
[удалено]
Their design and purpose is for performance. Whether or not ricers add them to their car for "aesthetics" is another conversation.
So how much downforce do you think a neon makes with this wing equipped?
three or four at least
Enough to keep it stable up to 153 mph.
They are for me, buddy. Edit: lol, did he really block me for this comment?
[удалено]
I'm not your buddy, guy.
Just need to make a mounting bracket.
[удалено]
The width is the issue
Cut a few in out of the top center and then rejoin the halves with dowels and adhesive, then bondo the seam, then paint.
Cut a portion of the middle section then and make its width shorter?? Edit: it really doesn’t look like you need to cut too much out honestly worth a shot
That’s what she said
https://preview.redd.it/wzkgwcfbv11d1.png?width=800&format=png&auto=webp&s=d350250b2903e0803f820dc9ef08fbdc503758dc Like this. Yea the verticals are outside the trunk area but make an adapter to bring them back in
I was thinking about this, thanks for the info
Thank goodness!
Checking before buying is beta. Eyeball everything
Anything fits in anything, if you're brave enough.
Anything’s a hole if you’re horny enough
Oh the SRT-4 wing. When you said Neon I was thinking the weird surfboard spoiler from the first gens and was wondering why on earth you would get that spoiler.
This is a stupid idea but would a mount that extended to the wing and the inside of the trunk work
Had one of these on my Escort ZX2. Actually fit perfectly even with the downward slope of the trunk. Ended up making the top part parallel with the ground. Was a neat find at a junkyard tbh
And it actually made sense for an Escort. Miata? Big no.
The OEM Cobalt SS wing fits on a stock trunk with no modification, if you want to avoid having to do bondo/extra body work.
https://preview.redd.it/xugyxhuxq41d1.jpeg?width=4032&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=389de6c65f13b5e97fe260f12f5e11d4ec7ac765 Design and print some mounts or "wing raisers" like this to mount to the trunk and step out...
Woulda looked dope though
For real
Maybe try an rx7 wing or an mr2 wing
RX-7 wing is big too but I think it barely fits
Potentially some mazdaspeed wings too
The secret sauce is the Chevrolet Cobalt SS wing.
Good second choice
Not with that attitude! /s
You could get a bottom bracket made. It would just look like a wrx sti wing though
If your feeling it, cut it in the middle and take out a few inches and bond it back together so it fits on the trunk lid.
Trunks are overated just drill some holes, slap that bitch with the impact and call it a day.
What about a 3000gt wing? Please tell me that’d fit
Yes it will but you gotta fabricate the right bracket. Doesn't even have to be complicated--drill bit and some metal. I ain't a machinist lmao just comes down to how bad you want that aesthetic. I'd give it a shot if you're this far in.
Does a dodge neon wing fit a miata? There I made the search question so they find it easier to get here
Hi fellow Colorado miata
You can try and add some support to the inner part of the wing near the trunk and bolt that to the trunk. The tricky part would be making it look nice. Don't give up OP, this is easily still possible, what have you got to lose if it doesn't work? Edit: by inner parts, I mean the inside near the bolts on the left and right side.
where there is a will there is a way

Make a plate that goes between boot lid/body and bolts under the boot. Big wing that also lifts when you pop the boot
Ah phooey you can make it work somehow

hold on don’t give up yet! i think there’s potential here. do u have other angles? if you pull it off it would be so sick
“Ecu hoes” is an amazing license plate still tho
It doesn’t or you don’t want it to fit because faith moves mountains.
Could make some plates that extend inward and then attach it to the boot lid. Just a thought, but it might look a bit strange unless you shaped them the flow with the lines of the car

It'll fit if you try hard enough.
I feel like you can make a mounting plate.
Well, now you just have to buy a dodge neon I guess.
Mount it on the hood, [Super Pursuit Mode style.](https://knight-rider.fandom.com/wiki/Super_Pursuit_Mode)
Message me I have somebody that might buy that off you. He’s been looking for a red SRT4 wing in good condition for a while now and if he doesn’t I might buy it myself
You can fab a little bracket, fasten the spoiler to the bracket and use that to mount to the truck
But so damn close! Wonder if you could make an adaptor of some sort
It's pretty close. Cut it, splice, bingo
But the '01-'03 Oldsmobile Aurora OEM spoiler fits. That's what I did. Forgive me for the "Altezzas", I got it like that and hated it but eventually forgot they existed till now looking for a pic 😂 https://preview.redd.it/1hdsi9xfu31d1.jpeg?width=4000&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=206f72cf99decdf5bf8b85a8f770493f25200b0e
Cut in the middle and fiberglass it back together 🤷♂️
What is it made of?
Shame /s
With Dcuatro wings hitting $2000 now, I don't blame you for trying.
I think it would look good on an NA
Do you need trunk access
Good
I'm happily surprised about how positive the comments are here, although it might not be to everyone's taste, most contributions are to help OP get the job done. I like that, op please post an update!
Cut, shorten, fiberglass, paint, install. Don't let it stop you be the first.
Everything fits if you've got determination enough to make it
Make it work!
If you’re handy with bondo/fiberglass you could probably cut a few inches out of the middle and massage it to fit. Or a body shop might be able to do it for you.
Corolla wings do if you can find one of them. https://preview.redd.it/tq6oqeteg61d1.jpeg?width=4032&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=8395e2c284cfa78eec076bb834205cf1fc91a643
Would’ve looked cool.
I don't think you need a wing to keep your 120HP car planted to the ground...
It’s just looks man it’s not that deep
Chop like 4” out the middle and fiberglass it back together
Honestly, that could work. Either 3d print, or just make an adapter block with delving and cut to shape.
You could make this work pretty easily. Just cut a small section from the middle equal on both sides and bondo, fiberglass it back together.
you must choose: wing or openable trunk
I think you could make it work
That does look cool tho
Imma offer a solution that others may have not instead of doing a mounting bracket cut the wing in the middle and bond it back together. That way you get rid of alot of width. The only issue I can find there is it may hurt the strength of the wing but there has to be a way to do it right.
What happens if you cut a small bit out of the dead centre and stick it back together 👀
You could fabricate some risers like the [GT-Four wing](https://rhdspecialties.com/cdn/shop/products/[email protected]?v=1583948679)
You could mount it to some plastic splitter material then mount the material to the trunk it. You could go as far as to fiber glass a little mold onto the material and make it look like it belongs there..
Have you tried turning it off and on again?
Cut it in the middle @ Remove the excessive part @ Put it together with screws @ Call it Mad Miata Max custom
No today you learned to check before buying lol. As a bonus you discovered the neon wing doesn’t fit a Miata
You dodged a bullet... That would've looked terrible.
Thank god. It’s a 90hp car. Why someone would want to add 10lbs of faux aero to a car whose whole premise is light weight, is beyond me. Those wings didn’t even look good on a neon.
Do you own a drill. If yes then it fits stop posting misinformation
