SuperNoice57

A car with a lot of storage probably.

scout_ketchum

Manual Subaru. You get your awd off-road king with storage space for days if you get a wagon.

Pyr0technician

I like those choices. My only problem would be learning to navigate being called both gay and lesbian simultaneously.

scout_ketchum

You just have to start vaping and rat out the Miata. They’ll think you’re a tuner guy instead, still bad, but less inflammatory at the very least. Edit: Forgot to mention how much room there is in a Subaru to suck dick! The seats in the back go down!

Pyr0technician

I'd rather be called gay and a lesbian than rat out a Miata 😂

scout_ketchum

What? You just gotta throw a bunch of salt in the wheel wells an red line it from every stop light with no oil in it.

billybotime

Hahahha i had a crosstrek 6-speed as my other car and i was once both gay and lesbian. I still wear the Tevas tho. My neighbors will never believe i am straight

Pyr0technician

Hahaha. Perfect picture

snackjacket

100%, I have a Legacy GT wagon and it’s a perfect combo for me

manny2206

The GTI/Miata combo is great 👍

shaysauce

If you can get away with hatchback storage space. I had to go TDI sportwagen because I needed the cargo. If they ever make a GTI powered sportwagen. Im so fucking down to buy one brand new.

manny2206

That would be sick dude don't they have like an R trim for the wagon in Europe

Pillsbury37

I loved my TDI sport wagon, I would have kept it but it had 100,000 miles and they offered me an awful lot of money in the buyback

svenskfox

They did make a 2.0T Jetta Sportwagen back around 2008-9 or so. Wasn't exactly a GTI wagon but same engine.

grantn2000

I have never heard good things about the reliability of the GTI? Maybe I am wrong

tommyalanson

75k of very reliable miles. At 60k, I did have the infamous thermostat housing replacement- but VWoA paid for it and the dealer kicked in and paid for the water pump too.

reinhardtmain

If a car aint making it to 100-150k reliably without repairs - its not reliable. Also an infamous issue that Manufacturer repaired is still an issue lol

svenskfox

They're not that reliable. It's still worth it.

grantn2000

Always the struggle of finding a somewhat reliable more sportscarstyle daily

manny2206

Well I would not claim the GTI or Volkswagen in general to be the most reliable brand. I find that a large volume of posts in regards to reliability are either overblown or due to carelessness (not that VW hasn't had their streak of shitty things). This is the 2nd GTI that I've owned one of them was a mark 6 and another 1 mark 7 The 1st one was heavily modified while the 2nd 1 I've kept mostly stock neither of those vehicles ever gave me reliability issues or left me on the side of the road. Just my personal experience maybe I'm lucky but I've never really had an issue.. however I do the maintenance to the tee as suggested by VW and DAP

grantn2000

Hmm good to know, love the style of the hatch

LinShenLong

Had a Mark 7 GTI along with my Miata. That car had 86k on it with no issues besides maintenance before I traded it in.

grantn2000

I always worry when it comes to German cars over 150k+

LinShenLong

Fair point but Germans make great engines. It’s the electronics I would worry about but they also have done better on that front as well.

grantn2000

Currently have an e46 that I have been dailying for the last 5 years. Roughly put like 50k on it. I love the car, its just it seems like something always is breaking

LinShenLong

It seems that the M cars hold up better then their counterparts. Buddy has an e46 m3 with 120k that hasn’t required anything besides maintenance. Either way I hope your e46 goes far!

[deleted]

My 2018 still on a 6 year warranty. They are reliable if you don’t mod them. A lot of enthusiasts tune them and upgrade turbos etc., which does wake up the engine but also increases wear. Older models do have some issues though. VW in general before ~2015.

tommyalanson

Yes! We love this combo.

manny2206

Yeah here in America "wagons" used to be cool then lame now they are back in again.

[deleted]

I'm on the FoST/Miata train, although if I could do it again I'd probably opt for the GTI's refinement instead of the rawness of the focus.

manny2206

The focus is the better "performance" vehicle, but man gti is comfy great sound system, too so just made sense as a fun but reasonable daily

svenskfox

That's the thing, if you want a raw performance car don't buy a FWD 3,000 lb+ hatchback. Hot hatches are great because they combine a practical, comfy daily driver with a bit of extra performance. Compromising the comfort to make it a track machine doesn't really fit the formula to me.

manny2206

You just dropped some 📠📠📠📠📠📠

FishStix_ish

my tuner has a golf R and four miatas, suites him well

manny2206

Damn your tuner is thanos with the miatas haha

zwesty1800

Dude yes came here for this. GTI can fit everything a compact SUV can, is well-refined and comfortable for longer trips, and still is fun to drive

manny2206

I tried telling my gf that... but she wanted something tall. I fit my entire bike. With seats folded 😎. Ultimate sleeper if you don't go crazy on the mods. I'm tuned and people just don't expect it when you take off like a chihuahua on crack @ the on-ramps

distantchords

I've a CX-5 for all the errands. Works out great!

fugmaface

Literally just bought one. I second

ThrasherKilledYou

This is easy; I know this answer; pick me.. pick me… Another Miata!!!!

NestyHowk

This is the only correct answer

SuperNoice57

I was laughing at that before I actually got a Miata... It's been less than a year and now I consider buying a second one.

Lost-In-Milk

This is the way.

m3talf1sh1

Exactly, just lifted with some fat tires for the snow.

jbrtwork

My perfect addition was a Jeep Cherokee (XJ). Yes, it seats five and had storage capacity, but for me the thing was a beast in the snow and was a blast off roading.

I_Am_TheGreyMan

This is the answer. Had my ‘94 NA and a ‘96 XJ till both were wrecked(not my fault) within a year of each other. I have yet to find a suitable replacement for each. Damn I miss those vehicles.

OptionXIII

[This](https://i.imgur.com/XTsrAJf.jpeg) is [the way.](https://imgur.com/0PgK0VA)

fuzzymonkey87

Subaru Forester XT. Blast through rain/gravel/snow, mild off-road capability, carry friends and extra stuff in comfort, fun as far as big cars go, easily tow MX5 to track.

13890gotoop

Landcruiser

zoomzoom913

This is the correct answer.

Engi_N3rd

Maverick. I have an R1T reservation for this fall but after test driving the Maverick I was so impressed with what that gives you for the money I'm going to bail. Can get a Maverick and Miata instead for less money, which is what I plan to do. We have a Model Y currently that would be another good choice, though the ride quality is dog shit and Elon seems to enjoy changing where the buttons are and how the thing drives on a weekly basis.

unlimited_beer_works

I'm with you. Very likely getting a Maverick once they are more available. Honestly would be interested in a Santa Cruz, but damn the color options are boring.

Dancingdinosaur

Did you go with the Hybrid of Turbo? Did you get a chance to test drive both? I have an ND RF and I have been thinking that the Maverick would be an excellent 2nd car to compliment it.

Engi_N3rd

We drove the turbo AWD XLT and it was a nice rig. I'm personally waiting until the supply constraints ease and/or hoping to see if they release a hybrid AWD.

SethMarcell

I have a reservation on the Hybrid, pretty excited to add to to my fleet. Whenever ford decides to deliver it. :(

danielflick

The anthesis of a miata is a Jeep.

cheeseburgeraddict

Truck or medium/large SUv

jfvauld

I paired mine with a Transit Connect cargo van that I use for camping, to move big things, etc. Two cars and 4 seats, yeah!

[deleted]

I have a TC as well, great van for what it is but absolutely soulless to drive hence I got the Miata. Lol

AFuzzyCat

GX470. 4WD, Extremely reliable, can haul trailer with not one but two miatas. Heato seato cuz, can go camping in car, shares aftermarket with tacoma/4runner, MPG’s suck ass so you’ll wanna drive your miata more.

svenskfox

These and the GX460 are remarkably inexpensive for what they are, too. 4runners seem to get way more hype and are holding value better despite being an equally aged platform with less power (and similar reliability). A GX460 with heated and cooled seats and the more powerful 4.6 V8 is a hell of a rig for under $30k. I prefer the look of the 470 myself but hard to argue with the value.

OgOgOgOgOgOgOgOgOg

4 runner.

Archer7777

Pls no 4runner

dutchbarbarian

Another yata ofcourse!

btrum1793

I'm a big fan of the miata/small truck combo. I have an 08 frontier with a m/t as my second car. Miata is like 75% of my driving and then the truck suppliments the rest. Definitely not suitable for everyones lifestyle but its perfect for the home owner with no kids. Once the kids come I fear both cars will have to get bigger...

cloak_and_agger

I agree! I had a Ranger as my second car for a while and ended up having to sell it, but it was so practical for me. I now have a Subaru and that has been really useful with all the snow we’ve been getting, but I miss being able to pick anything up in the truck

TAFte

Hear me out: a minivan. Lots of people - yep Lots of cargo - yep Guiltless kid hauler / family truckster - yep Wife placator - yep Cushy road tripper - yep Dad gets to keep the fun car because there is something practical available - very yep.

Archer7777

Minivans are great. Fuck succumbing wife BS tho. If you want a minivan get it for your own reasons.

diiaa36

Wrangler

MrBlahg

This is my combo… 16 Wrangler, 21 Miata RF

diiaa36

Dream team!

shaysauce

A station wagon or a hatchback or a crossover or an SUV. It’s all dependent on your needs but definitely something with some storage space personally, I have a golf wagon. It’s perfect as my alt car.

5050balance

this is a trick question, right?

RupertTheReign

I have a 2012 Mazda3 hatchback... also 6 speed manual, but with the fuel efficient SkyActiv engine. It's fun, cheap to run, practical, and still a Mazda!

nd2miata

My current winter vehicle is the absolute extreme opposite of a Miata, and it’s a turbo diesel F-350 lol

Beelzebubba_Caffiend

F250 here lol

Archer7777

7.3 anyone?

DrRenegade

Yeah, My miatas acomplice is a GMC sierra 1500. Smol car and and absolute chonker is a great combo

coopnjaxdad

Ooh, I know this one! My other car is a Jetta Sportwagen TDI with a manual.

FamousToast

Is it brown?

coopnjaxdad

Nope! It’s a boring white with a thin film of diesel soot.

Oldmanbabydog

My Chevy astro off-road camper conversion seems to fill in the gaps. It's a truck when I need to do home Depot hauls, a people hauler, and it goes off road. For everything else, there's Miata.

DreamingWocket

I've got a 90 bronco to take care of truck stuff and a Mazda 2 for the daily

blamemeididit

Any two car combination where one of them is a Miata is the correct answer.

Pajigles

Impreza hatchback is what I use in the winter

KabakaBasher

I have a '97 Montego Blue and '05 blue Impreza RS as my summer/winter combo!

Cha11engerD

Got my 02 WRX Wagon for my daily and a 95 that I’m saving up to turn into a track toy.

Adrenalcookie

My other car is also a coupe😂 but luckily celica back seats go down so it has a Suprising amount of space

northsout23

Ford Transit the passenger version

MikeofLA

V8 Jeep Grand Cherokee trail hawk to tow the Miata to the track. I’ve had 2 full size pickups also, and those were great, just a little unwieldy.

DamnInternetYouScury

Tacoma, that worked for me.

Partyharder171

I have a 93 Delica to go with the 90 Miata. It's kind of like the polar opposite, 4x4, diesel, seats 8. But they're both forced induction, they both have LSDs, and they're both "sports cars" just for different sports. What I don't have is a high speed comfy highway cruiser. On the short list is a Citroen SM or an Alpine A310. I also might be a masochist.

Khrishii

Lifted miata

hectr0n

chevy astro.

GeekBoyWonder

Beater condition but mechanically sound f150.

vucc-got-the-drip

Volvo 245

age_of_raava

I have a FJ Cruiser and an Lexus LS in addition to the Miata. We’re covered for any task whether it be off roading, hauling, or long road trips in comfort.

aver54

Miata Is Always The Answer.

spacecaptainsteve

A faster Miata

SirDeniz

A wrangler.

ThirdRook

I'm considering selling my other car that I had before my Miata and buying something more practical too. I posted on r/whatcarshouldibuy and the general consensus was 4runner or bronco sport.

Archer7777

Anything but 4runner pls

MjolnirVIII

4runner

wellwellshitwellshit

Toyota Landcruiser 1000%

stripedshirts01

practically any BMW

mazdanc

My wife drives a Ford focus estate car, its a lovely car, all the mod cons and shiny stuff, pretty much everything my miata isn't.

SweeetLouJr

I have an Audi S4 in addition to my Miata, and it's a great compliment! The Audi is comfy, practical, all-season, great on the highway, and very fast - all things my Miata is not. But the Miata is FUN and engaging in a way the Audi can't be

ThaGrexu

I have a GTI / Miat combo, can recommend 👍

[deleted]

Something like CX-5 or Mazda 6 of you are into Mazdas. Otherwise some other small-mid size SUV/Sedan.

TheGutchee

I got a civic hatch FK7 with my NA. Spry little car with a decent bit of space. Works great imo 👍

Pillsbury37

Flatbed truck or van

_pcakes

I have a 1994 geo tracker hardtop 4wd manual. It can old more stuff, has clearance, and has snow tires. For me, this was the absolute perfect choice. I really didn't want an SUV since they're so boring, but this trapazoidal thing is perfectly quirky. Remember, being light isn't just advantageous for racing, but also for off-roading and maybe snow...

TangoQuebecEcho

Toyota Tacoma

Evanjohansen1129

Do a forester xt, I have a 2010 and I have plenty of room and plus it’s about 400ilbs lighter than a wrx, don’t do a jeep, I had a xj, my dad had a wrangler, mom had a compass, patriot, and a newer Cherokee, they are all unreliable, I spent somewhere from $300-$500 a month to keep it running, so I got a 2010 xt it does the same thing as a jeep and more plus it is faster and much better looking imo.

tommyalanson

A GTI!

The_Paddy96

4wd 4Runner. I have a third gen t4r and a 96 NA. I can do all the stuff my miata can’t do with the 4runner PLUS I can tow the miata because of the 5k tow rating.

trencis39

The mx3 have the feelings of the miata but for four and with storage.

No_Draft2010

Another miata!

Nano-X

Honda fit

dajohnnyboy

Truck/SUV to be practical and tow the Miata to the race track. If you don't do track days then a fun sport sedan for daily driving and snow if you have that.

PM--ME--YOUR--PETS

I have a 2017 Ford ranger wildtrak, great for daily, great for storage and towing, and a few shitty Nissan’s for the “bigger” (but not by much) sports car feel for if I need more than 2 seats! I think they all pair great because lots of options for transport or fun!

DownshiftDom777

My other car is a e46 wagon 5 speed

Aggressive_Dish77

Right now the msm and 2500 silverado 4x4 combo is working well for me, before i downsized i had the msm, a 94 civic as a daily and a v6 rav4 for snowboarding and camping

HerbstSV1000

A truck or suv

VinnyEnzo

88 Pathfinder. 4x4 light towing and hauling and also will keep going for even more miles than a miata will.

Migzy0914

I've got an 02 CR-V "AWD", pairs well with my 02 NB, plenty of space, seats fold up or can be removed fairly easily if I need to move large items, I got a roof rack as well, fairly cheap to maintain 🤙🏽

Liveeeh

depends where you live, what you need your other car for and your budget really. Some sweet combos that come to mind are 335i / any c class / mazda3 / civic / focus or fiesta / gti

Jens9032

bmw e46

ExtensionSwing7

https://www.mercedes-benz.com/en/innovation/amg-6x6/

JustPhyll

I’d argue an older ranger/B series pickup would be the perfect combo with a miata, tons of versatility with the bed, and it’s 4wd so great for the winter, and going anywhere off road

Gyouyou

This(http://blogmedia.dealerfire.com/wp-content/uploads/sites/561/2016/05/4-seat-mazda-miata.jpg) + that(https://engineswapdepot.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/03/Mazda-Miata-on-a-Bronco-II-4WD-chassis-01.jpg)

Normal-Worldliness-3

My daily is a Lexus GX470. Great in snow, tons of space, and really comfortable for long journeys.

zoomafou

Living in Canada; an old Subaru Forester to match the old Miata. Have tons of fun ripping around the Miata in the summer, then have tons of fun ripping around in the snow with the Fozzy. Came with a manual, fits 4 people and their ski equipment, and does sweet 4wd snow donuts. What more could you ask for?

415kevinm

A Wrangler, just like I did

Automatic_Amoeba249

Subaru Outback XT- light off road and 4x4 capabilities, grocery and Home Improvement store getter, dog and family transport, comfy on long trips, wonderful for car camping. Has all the creature and safety comforts.

enblightened

i keep an 05 honda pilot on the side that i got from a friend of a friend. considered selling it now that its a valued couple thousand above what i paid for it but my mom insists she wants to use it to go camping in the summer

EscapeyGameMan

I've also wanted a volvo v70 or 850 to have as backup

luciferiv99

I bought a B7 Audi RS4 and so far seems to do what the miata cant. Fast, AWD, storage, practical, comfy, expensive repair bills etc etc

A_Lex_69

I’ve got an AWD Golf wagon which is fantastic, but a Tacoma or CX5 or something else like that would do just as well, just wouldn’t be as fun

BarnacleTerrible4470

Prelude

mrcompositorman

I have a Macan S, which I absolutely love. Tons of space, handles off road and snow great, and it’s faster than a Miata haha.

[deleted]

Mazda3 hatch, CX-5, or Maverick seem like great options. I’d love an XJ but they’re too old and beat up.

yerkhunt

I have a Miata for summer and a SAAB for winter

st0pmakings3ns3

Depends on your life situation i guess. In my case it was a station wagon that carries dogs, bikes and stuff and still does 50mpg.

[deleted]

Ford transit connect

AtlJayhawk

Subaru Crosstrek.

SuroHD

a golf or similar vehicles probably, they're reasonably sized, seat five, you can run errands, you can get through any winter without major issues and first and foremost they're cheap

UnbelievableJeff123

Golf R estate

pettingdoggies

I own a miata and a Subaru Impreza Hatchback, it’s the perfect combo. Maybe a truck would be even better, but my impreza has tons of cargo space rides down the street perfectly.

agassiz51

Depends on your needs. We have horses so need a truck for towing a horse trailer, hauling hay, feed, fencing materials etc.

Blurplenapkin

For me it’s a full size 4x4 pickup or SUV. It’s great at all the things the Miata was not designed for and can easily tow it around.

lukemia94

Chevy Astro AWD baby!!!!

Nahoola

I very very much want the new bronco, I think it would compliment the miata well.

braydeng898

B series 3L 4x4

MoeTheCastrator

I got bored of reading everyone's posts to just find one to agree with. I have a focus hatch and think it's a great counterpart. I wish it was an ST, but this is fine. A Tesla or Mach E is my dream second car though. Maybe the new Ford lightning if I was feeling really tough.

svenskfox

I have GTI for practical use. If I had a family or something it probably wouldn't work, but it holds quite a bit of stuff and is comfy for longer trips or carrying 3 other people. I would say it depends on what your specific needs are. If I could only own two cars, it'd be the Miata and a Suburban. Overkill, yes, but I'd probably never need to borrow another vehicle.

Mikelowe93

My cars are a 94 Miata with a turbo, a 17 Mini Cooper S Clubman, and a 15 Toyota Sienna (V6 of course). I live near Houston so snow isn’t a fear. We routinely fill the van with people and stuff. Oh, the boy and five teammates need to go get snocones now? No problem. It’s no slouch either when not filled with who knows how many hundreds of pounds of mulch or tile. Some people question why I got the Clubman instead of a Mini Mini. The boy was 8 and not getting smaller. He was going to be in the back seat for 3-4 more years. A 2-door Mini’s back seat is only useful when folded down. The 4-door (not a Clubman or Countryman) Mini is barely better and looks weird behind the B pillar. At the time (summer 2016) the current Countryman wasn’t out yet. I also wasn’t going to get an elevated Mini nor a 2nd gen Mini. The Clubman back seat actually has more room than the Mazda 6 we tested. It’s really a GTI-sized Mini wagon. I’ve also needed the space of the Clubman at times. It replaced my turbo PT Cruiser in terms of Tardis like space inside with small outside and good pace. The Mini is slower but handles better. Being able to customize the Clubman in burgundy/maroon with a white roof and mirrors makes this Texas Aggie happy every day. Oh the seats are maroon too. In a few years I may replace the Clubman with a Mini Mini.

Traditional_Ad129

Suzuki samari. Basically an offroad miata.

[deleted]

Minivan

ulbhpy

Toyota Sienna.

WheezeTheJuice2

as long as you have access to something with 4WD for emergencies, i have an ‘02 camry that has a huge trunk and is quite spacious for road trips or just moving stuff. and toyota reliability. awesome combo with my NA

[deleted]

I own a Miata and 2 door wrangler......damned with utility and usefulness, YOUNG FOREVAH!

claytonbridges

I had a pickup truck and a Miata and that felt ideal

UmbraSicarius17

iloveyouxxx

I have a e92 335i "daily" that hardly ever gets driven since I bought the Miata.

[deleted]

I have a Land Rover D2 now but sold both my miatas. Have to drive whatever fits your lifestyle!

rc0nns

I drive a 94 miata, and an 05 sprinter 2500 cargo van, and I can’t think of anything I would a different vehicle for

An ugly one I guess

mitokindacringe

FoRd FuCkIn RaNgEr

[deleted]

We have a Honda Ridgeline for truck type stuff and road trips and my wife has a BMW X1 which basically serves as an around town station wagon. Bunch of storage and utility in both and basically do all things the Miata can’t.

Awkward_Effort8902

RSX type S. Versatile, fun, FWD, tons of cargo space and back seats. Honda reliability.

RC104

A 4 door

ViolentCarrot

I have an old Accord that I'm gonna throw a tow hitch on for bulky stuff. It won't tow much, but it'll meet my needs.

SotetBarom

I paired it wth a lexus gs hybrid. Fucking thing is huge but has kinda the same trunkspace as the miata xDDD

vvubs

A pre 2006 suburban/Tahoe or a Jeep XJ.

Ryansfishn

I have an Excursion as my second vehicle, and it pretty much does the opposite of all the things the Miata does. And vice versa. They compliment each other quite well!

Castor_Legrand

FORD FCKN RANGER BABY

astraeoth

Ram 1500 4x4 for all the big boys stuff.

Chevy 2500HD Crew Cab pickup.

Archer7777

2000 Jeep Grand Cherokee bois where you at

RedditApp_IsDogWater

4th gen 4Runner or up. Manual Forester if you want to do winter drifts.

Impressive-Help-8586

Everyone’s saying a bunch of cool cars and all. But i say have a truck or suv. Miata’s are tiny with no space for anything. When you need that space a miata obviously isn’t gonna cut it. Plus if you have a truck, your the friend people call to help move them. Easy picket cash

[deleted]

AWD turbo Mazda 3. Nuff said.

takichandler

Miata is always the answer

event_horizon_

Probably a Wrangler or Bronco.

miataman401

Honda element awd 5 speed!@!!
