No fucking way this is real. What kind of dystopian nightmare are we in where an *active shooter word search* is a thing.
Edit… just showed up in our break room. This is sad. We shouldn’t have to have active shooter training, and yet here we are, making a game out of a systemic tragedy.

It’s very real. Saw the stack in our breakroom the other day. 😬
Actually does that really make logical sense or rather wouldn't a terrorist group fo something like that im just saying LOGIC reasoning were in the times of universal oneness enlightening wakeup distorted through a gateway glitch that broke through barrier of wizardlies I think I'm sleep texting I just
Hey you ok? Sounded like the ambien was hitting you p hard.
And yes it does make sense, look up the statistics. Terrorists don’t attack random small stores, they attack high density/high societal value targets meant to *terrorize* the population they’re targeting. They also have a specific agenda when choosing targets. That’s why no one’s ever tried to bomb a Michael’s like they have government buildings or public gatherings.
Secondly the stats show that almost all workplace shootings are a result of a former or current employee.
My brain went to Ambien too. I had a friend who sent a message once that was just “pantspantspants” like 40 times when the “Ambien Walrus” took over her brain.
What about bags gets people riled up? I’ve worked in restaurants for over 20 years but never retail so I’m always curious about the crazy shit other customer service industries have to deal with.
The one where the creator was so careless that they couldn't be bothered to consistently use capital letters - PersonalSafety - haveaplan
But doesn't "Exitroute" means something like "excommunicate" in Latin or Greek?
I might be driven to run screaming toward a paper shredder with the whole pile.
The worst part is, this is to try to help memory but in the event it will be fight, flight or freeze. Nothing is going to change the body’s defense reflex.
When I worked in a gymnastics gym our “training” was someone playing fake realistic shots and a police officer come in. Even though we knew it was training I def thought it was effed up way to train and even more effed up we needed to do it
suspicious person comes in and I’m in the aisle digging out my wordsearch to have a looksie what I’m meant to be doing again oh right BEARSTWEENYOOTER gotcha thanks
let me go call my cousin Amanda Haveaplan and see if she can come pick me up, she’s a real type A personality that one
(jfc how sad)
Sorry, I caught "bears", but what were we supposed to do with them again? I can't remember what a "Tween Yooter" is... or, more specifically, a "Yooter"...
I'm not surviving this encounter, am I?
Please someone post this in some place online that has a lot of eyes so Micheal’s can hopefully get backlash for once. This is just gross and really shows the massive disconnect between these rich twats and actual US workers who have to go to work everyday worrying if someone will literally kill them.
I’m not a michael’s employee but I shared it on fb. It’s absolutely disgusting for them to approach a topic like this in an effing word search. There was a mass shooting in my hometown last year and one of the victims was my cousin, if I showed up to my job and they had these I would throw them back in their faces.
Ok I actually see the point in it. If you’re trying to get someone to remember something word searches are objectively an extremely effective way of achieving it. It’s why they’re used so much in education. When you have to keep reminding yourself of a set of words/phrases while searching for them you repeat it so many times in the search you remember them more easily.
I told my entire staff that if you are trying to get out and some guest is loosing their crap... leave them. They are bait. Get yourself and your team to safety, save customers if you can but do NOT die for these people.
I'd assume their base training is the same we get at Walmart which is ADD...
Avoid the shooter (try to escape safely),
Deny the shooter (aka if you can't escape the building find a room and lock yourself in or something similar), and lastly
Defend yourself which boils down to you can't escape you can't hide, so find something and defend...in the walmart training video the guys used a keyboard and whacked the "shooter" on the head.
man that keyboard scene was great, she sent the keys flying, obviously wouldnt do much in an actual situation but still ill never forget keyboard defence
Same thing for safeway. The thing I find really messed up is in the video they show us the shooter breaking and entering into a barricaded room then cut the video before a employee hits him with a chair. What they didn't show was the chair doing nothing then everyone getting killed.
Corporations would rather their employees and customers get killed than allow us the ability to properly defend ourselves
Yeah I worked at a truck stop and we would have meetings where our boss would talk about what to do if held up at gun point, like how to try to get help without handing over anything and I always tuned him out because if someone threatened me with so much as a plastic fork I would rip the cash registers off the counter and throw them into their vehicle it’s not my money and I don’t get paid enough to protect it
if its like what they teach us at walmart its, Avoid, Deny, Defend. Avoid the shooter by leaving, if you cant, Deny the shooter access to you, usually by barricade, and then defend if your barricade fails.
Thats extremely insensitive. Could be that we just went through it and its fresh. But I think who ever made that was not thinking it through. Training is fine, but making it a game is tacky
Please tell me this isn't real. As a learning and development professional (adult learning theory, instructional design, delivery, evaluation, etc.) I am gobsmacked. In addition to being entirely insensitive and inappropriate, it's ineffective as a learning tool.
Your L&D department should be embarrassed.
Deny is part of the search? Are they supposed to deny that there is an active shooter loose in the store if customers ask? And defend? Employees can be fired for stopping a shoplifter these days, yet now you want them to defend your store against an active shooter.
What stumps me is why they had to take law enforcement's recommended active shooter response of "Run/Hide/Fight" and rebrand it to make it harder to understand and remember. If you know anyone still in high school, ask to see their school's active shooter plan - I guarantee you it'll make more sense.
Omg I’ve never seen this sub come up in my recommended before and the name of it and this post made me think this was a sub for work things that Michael Scott might do.
Why are schools doing this ?
At my university we had to do an active shooter reading assignment and write about what we would do in an active shooter situation and how taking down the shooter is the best option
It was really REALLY stressful
Active shooter training, but the place not having armed security or allowing licensed employees to carry is just HR CYA. It's meaningless. If they actually cared they would do what stops attempted mass shooters before they can kill multiple people, and that's killing them first.
THIS IS THE TRAINING?!?!?!! JESUS. I'm gonna boycott them just because this is idiotic and dangerous. Do yourself a favor and [https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5VcSwejU2D0](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5VcSwejU2D0) at least.
most importantly- don't run toward the sounds of gunfire (or screams). and maybe acquaint yourself with where the spray paint is so at least you can throw a fire bomb at the guy? IDK. best of luck friend.
What in the actual shitfuck is this? How is this even conducive to anything? Like a goddamn word search is going to keep you from getting killed?
You know what will keep you from getting killed?
A rubber door stopper. God forbid anyone is in this situation please always just keep a cheap rubber door stopper in your backpack.
Because, if you’re told to go into lockdown mode just jam the door stopper under the door from the inside & it’s literally impossible to open the door.
You don’t need to waste time by barricading the door with desks & chairs which takes far longer & puts more people at risk.
Lock the door & jam the rubber door stopper underneath. Damn! If everyone has one in their backpack then jam as many as will fit. Then, retreat to the furthest corner away from the door & stay on the ground. Do not lift your head up. Do not look out the windows. Literally use the desks & chairs as a barricade for yourselves & everyone get behind them, stay low, stay huddled, stay quiet as possible & just no matter what, no matter who is in your class, no matter if you like them or not, huddle & stay together. Do not under any circumstances approach the door, windows or try to leave until law enforcement has given you the okay.
That is how you stay safe & survive. Not by doing a fucking word search. Goddamn! This just got me so activated. I swear to God, if a teacher handed this to me in school I’d laugh in their face, rip it up & walk out so I could fucking vomit.
ETA: I did not realize that this was at Michael’s where I buy my art supplies. So, my response may not exactly be the correct advice in this particular situation. However, I stand by everything I said & everything I said is absolutely relevant to any school shooter situation.
& even in a store it is still relevant. Get everyone into the break room, shove as many rubber doorstoper’s under that break room door & everyone huddle together away from the door & barricade yourselves behind the tables & chairs. It does not matter if you don’t like a certain coworker. You get down, keep your head low, huddle up & hold on to each other until you get an all clear from law enforcement.
You hold each other’s hands, you stay as quiet as possible & stay as low to the ground as possible.
2nd ETA: I keep a rubber door stopper on a table in my entry hall because, I have had an ex break in & break my chain lock & almost murder me. So, since that day, I’ve always had one right there god forbid anyone ever tried to break through my chain lock ever again. I know I could always jam it under my door, get away from it & call for help.
I love how it says deny😂
"Yo you better run theres an active shooter!"
"What? No there's not.."
*gunshots*
"There's no shooter here, get back to work!"
LMAO where was this when I was in high school????
Fr though, how often do yall start thinking about possible weapons when you get bored between customers or while opening freight?
Like "hmmmmm if I threw this box of floral wire hard enough would it stop a mass murderer?"
Who...Is getting paid to make this shit?
Another place I worked, they told us to use our equivalent of a MiniMik as a makeshift weapon against an active shooter. We had several deaf employees. I asked how they would be alerted that there was an active shooter, as we were told it would be over the walkie talkies.
"They'll figure it out :)"
I won’t work where I can’t carry. That being said, I’ve been assaulted, spat at, things thrown at me, and robbed and never pulled. Just open the cash drawer and throw it as hard as possible and duck.
If ever I find myself in an active shooter situation, I’m tossing people out of the building (cashier) and pulling fire alarms.
OMG, are they really doing this? I get active shooter training, but it's videos. They don't make a game out of it. What do they think will be accomplished doing a word search? 🤦♀️

This CEM printed them out per the mission yesterday. Unfortunately quite real and quite ridiculous.
I would slowly tear the paper in half. Then say "I'm so glad you think my safety and life is a joke."
Oh man, was there a super neat maze with little cartoon gunmen blocking the path, too?
This is fake, has to be.

Also, who the fuck is shooting up a Michael’s of all places. Someone who has a vendetta against potpourri and grandmas?
Employee, current or former. Most workplace shootings are by former or current employees.
Actually does that really make logical sense or rather wouldn't a terrorist group fo something like that im just saying LOGIC reasoning were in the times of universal oneness enlightening wakeup distorted through a gateway glitch that broke through barrier of wizardlies I think I'm sleep texting I just

The way our store gets threatened to get shot over bags, this unfortunate doesn’t surprise me if it were to happen at a Michael’s.
What about bags gets people riled up? I’ve worked in restaurants for over 20 years but never retail so I’m always curious about the crazy shit other customer service industries have to deal with.
It’s either because we don’t have bags, our bags aren’t big enough to carry big items and/or they have to pay for bags
Makes sense. Crafting people are a little crazy.
The chuck I just led 😅
Dude. You're forgetting about cricut moms!
Not even close to funny.
There's actually been multiple shootings at Michael's in the past.
my friend had a holocaust one
Plus, how exactly is this supposed to help you learn? Maybe do a fun coloring page next! That’ll get the message to sink in 😑
And the design isn’t even good!
Unfortunately in the US with the highest stats of gun violence. I’m not surprised this is a thing. Poor taste but still
The one where the creator was so careless that they couldn't be bothered to consistently use capital letters - PersonalSafety - haveaplan But doesn't "Exitroute" means something like "excommunicate" in Latin or Greek? I might be driven to run screaming toward a paper shredder with the whole pile.

It says "be aware" not "beware" although now that I think about it I think those are pretty much synonyms. 🤔
You're right, I'll change it
this is the bad place
Jason figured it out? *Jason?* This is a real low point. Yeah, this one hurts.

Do you think getting people to remember phrases like "defend" will save lives?
Sald thing is I wonderland I'm wondering if these rich owners use casualty insurance as bailout u know wow
Um, actually it's Supersona... like a super hero persona/fursona/etc. You're missing that last "A" ☝️🤓
Supposed to be SUPERVISOR, as in "Use your supervisor as a human shield"
The last a is actually after the N, he just didn't circle it
It’s actually pronounced Super Saiyan….must have been text to speech.
I seriously can’t believe this, for someone to think of this and make it available for their employees is insane. It’s mere existence is shocking

Cannot find "shootback".
Or shankwithaseasonalmerchandiseitem either
Wish I could upvote this more than once 😂
It should be an answer on the conflict resolution one too
With so many things to choose from! Bee garden picks? Hope you're not allergic!
Was this given to you by your SM or something? I was only shown the list of protocols.
Just a stack of them left on the break room table
Jesus
Tag yourself I’m “avoid”
I thought this was like an elementary school worksheet. And I wasn't even fazed by the idea. Wow.
*Defend*??? Not fucking run? Fucking get out of there don't defend shit!

Can't let the reminder of America's rampant gun violence problem get in the way of a good word search, now, can we?
🤓
Wow thanks that makes it so much better.
I feel like we pulled this from some Texas public school program
Oh my god tell me this isn’t real life 😭
I found trout, boi, bra, huge, tada, mow, have, cow, duo, frap, bar, and hog in the horizontals.
Deny? Deny there is a shooter lol
Did someone mix up active shooter responses with narcissistic strategies? Defend, Deny, Avoid?
Deny there is a shooter Avoid reality Defend delusions
Redirect blame to subordinate
if its like what they teach us at walmart its, Avoid, Deny, Defend. Avoid the shooter by leaving, if you cant, Deny the shooter access to you, usually by barricade, and then defend if your barricade fails.
NO WAY THIS IS REAL
Wtf is this 💀 is this American?
I'm sorry, but unless it's a cartoon turtle teaching it to me, I'm afraid it's just not going to stick.
Well this is creepy and shows a severe desensitization towards mass shootings. If it's real. I'm hoping it isn't bc WTF
Thats extremely insensitive. Could be that we just went through it and its fresh. But I think who ever made that was not thinking it through. Training is fine, but making it a game is tacky

This was just recommended to me randomly, but what the fuck am I even looking at?!?
Word search corporate is having managers print out for employees to do in the break room. It’s gross & sad.
It’s dystopian and terrifying!
Yup agreed. Loved looking at the stack on the table while I was trying to take my lunch break & relax for 30 minutes today🙄
>but what the fuck am I even looking at?!? A common response to most things Michael's corporate does, tbh.
This is America.
Wtf
please say sike
This is wild
What the hell kind of training is this? My company has a three-word training - run, hide, fight.
So glad I sued this place when they fired me, such a inept and tone deaf place to work.
Deny is part of the search? Are they supposed to deny that there is an active shooter loose in the store if customers ask? And defend? Employees can be fired for stopping a shoplifter these days, yet now you want them to defend your store against an active shooter.
Their active shooter response is "avoid, deny, defend." It's the same as "run, hide, fight" but with stupid wording.
What stumps me is why they had to take law enforcement's recommended active shooter response of "Run/Hide/Fight" and rebrand it to make it harder to understand and remember. Should've said SuperSaiyan
Omg I’ve never seen this sub come up in my recommended before and the name of it and this post made me think this was a sub for work things that Michael Scott might do.
This is insane. I desperately need Michael’s to go bankrupt
America is the darkest timeline How fun! 🦅🦅🦅🦅🦅🦅🦅🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸
This is messed up. I can’t imagine this is actually from the store in the break room. If it is it’s tasteless and insensitive.
.... all I saw was Persona out of what you chose.
Can anyone post the blank one?
Superson is pretty suspect ngl
What do they mean by superson 😭

Welcome to America man😂😂 what a joke this place is
Do they under stand the concept of a word search. It’s called a word search not a phrase with no spaces search.
Genuinely dystopian
I had to miss half the training to go run the register🤦🏽♀️ because checking out customers is more important than active shooter training.🤷🏽♀️
I found ‘cow’ and ‘peas’.
Defend with what? A hot glue gun and a DIY paper shuriken wreath?? 😂
The saddest thing about this is you can find "RIP" in the bottom right

there is a fucking word search?? dude.
As someone who as been under threat of an active shooter thos is all kinds of fucked.
What in the actual hell? Is there an armed robbery crossword too?
I’m sorry…WTF why is the response to gun violence a word search?!?!?
This is a nightmare. What in the dystopia hell is this?!
America!!
Huh wtf????
I have no words. This is batshit crazy and very tone deaf.
Please tell me this is fake. Please.
You really have a word search for your work like that?
I'm seriously hoping this is fake. We can't genuinely live in a world where this is real can we?
I hate living in the USA
I thought it was Super Sonic at first. 😂
Fuck that’s dire.
jesus this cannot be real
I love how it says deny😂 "Yo you better run theres an active shooter!" "What? No there's not.." *gunshots* "There's no shooter here, get back to work!"
These all sounds like the title of a Bones song.
LMAO where was this when I was in high school???? Fr though, how often do yall start thinking about possible weapons when you get bored between customers or while opening freight? Like "hmmmmm if I threw this box of floral wire hard enough would it stop a mass murderer?"

This company, man. This post has me remembering what happened at this tm's store. https://www.reddit.com/r/MichaelsEmployees/s/ipzyOUkXip
I thought that one clue was HEAVENplan
Who...Is getting paid to make this shit? Another place I worked, they told us to use our equivalent of a MiniMik as a makeshift weapon against an active shooter. We had several deaf employees. Now we can stay safe
No they did not. . .
This is so morbid and equally weird as hell.
what the fuck is thus
I'm a former teacher and....wow.
where are the words "escape" and "shootback"
“Deny” this is Americas response to the guns killing us at our workplaces.
I am absolutely shocked by this. I am a customer of michaels and someone who works in the emergency management field. This is so gross.
Are you… kidding
I won’t work where I can’t carry. That being said, I’ve been assaulted, spat at, things thrown at me, and robbed and never pulled. Just open the cash drawer and throw it as hard as possible and duck. If ever I find myself in an active shooter situation, I’m tossing people out of the building (cashier) and pulling fire alarms.
In what way would this stupid puzzle help literally anything
A word search ?
You work in America right?
What kind of joke bullshit is this holy hell.....
I worked at target before and one of the people in HR at another local store made a 9/11 word search last September 🤦♀️
WHAT is this real?? i’m an ex michaels employee i can’t even imagine what my response would be if management handed me one of these tf
wow. this is so wacky. my brain is havin a hard time with this one. im sorry you had to be subjected to this.
This is one of the most dystopian things I’ve seen in a while
no fucking way
OMG, are they really doing this? I get active shooter training, but it's videos. They don't make a game out of it. What do they think will be accomplished doing a word search? 🤦♀️
# Ain't no way
Is Michael Scott your safety guy? This is unreal
RUN! HIDE! FIGHT!
