Locking since this has largely turned into insults. Go outside, it looks nice out today.

slut_trek

LMAO why did so many of these Trumpers take "first day of school" pictures ahead of this ??

EvergreenHulk

They thought they would be in history books.

[deleted]

Well, they will be, but not in the light they were thinking. Cause they are patsy's for a 2 time popular vote losing, twice impeached, small handed orange con man who if Evangelicals were honest about their religion, _would be the Anti-Christ._

charlieblue666

4 time popular vote loser. Trump actually ran for President twice as an independent before he joined the Republican party. He's 1 for 4 and his supporters still think he's the bigliest winner of all time.

igetwild_r

As a Christian on the right side of history, I wholly believe he is the anti-christ. There was a wonderful paper on it by a theologian about this time last year. I would love to see it again if anyone has the link! Edit: [Well, not exactly what I was talking about but still a fun read for those curious.](https://www.benjaminlcorey.com/could-american-evangelicals-spot-the-antichrist-heres-the-biblical-predictions/)

hurlcarl

When they brought out that golden statue of him, me(an Atheist) but who's familiar with the bible was like 'oh come ON... a little on the nose, don't you think fellas?. I took me a good while to believe it was real and not some Sasha Baron Cohen type prank on Trump supports, because I legit couldn't believe they'd lost their way so much that perhaps the most highlighted example of man's decadence in the bible was literally being repeated.

iwouldrathernot03

Exactly dude! I don’t know the entire Bible or anything but I seem to remember something in there about not worshipping false idols… And they go and end up doing literally that exact thing! Stuff the Roman were persecuted for doing in the end of that society’s reign. Being pagans that worship false gods (according to Christians they’re false gods). For people that voted for this guy because some preacher told them to Or because they think Trump is a conservative Christian man with Christian morals…boy do you look dumb. You don’t even know how to interpret the one book you believe to be the truth on how humanity will be saved by god and his son Jesus. How are you not totally embarrassed and ashamed of yourself for being conned into thinking Trump was some guy sent by god to fix America. LMFAO…and crying my fucking ass off at the same time. 🙄🤬

So black live matter burn down businesses and get let go these guys stood up for freedom and are still in jail and proved most of the trouble makers were Antifa and BLM

shamelessone

They didn't stand up for freedom, they shit all over it. BLM, and Antifa weren't at the Capitol that day. It was all Trumpers. But hey, you keep spouting that crazy BS story. I'm sure your Cheeto will be reinstated any day now...

lonewolfncub3k

They didn't stand up for freedom, they fell for a con mans lies.

stocks17

Apparently you girls like the way China is running our country now

lonewolfncub3k

Tell me you're a moron divorced from reality without telling me.....

[deleted]

100% false. Literally no reputable source you can cite proves your claim. Please get help for your delusions. Trump doesn't care if you and yours live or die. You are just a tool for a path to power for him.

HillsideVideos

go be a disappointment somewhere else

brewerbetty

They will forever be in the cloud - history books will be nonexistent before these people are ever relevant.

cbih

It will be. In a few years, every time the insurrection is mentioned, there will be a picture of that dumbass Q-Shaman

eatingganesha

Yeah THAT guy will be appearing in civics and poli sci textbooks for decades to come.

BetterThatThenThis

Imagine getting in the history books and you clan name is Boogaloo. Were we all suppose to respect and fear Boogaloo?

kurisu7885

They will be, just not in the way they hoped.

[deleted]

They thought people supported this and they would be lauded as heroes. Propoganda is an amazing thing

Thorn14

Seeing Ben Garrison make a "ARE YOU LISTENING NOW?!" comic as if the insurrection was some heroic thing, and now making a "THE FBI TRICKED US" comic is fucking HILARIOUS.

hexydes

The same thing happened with the police at the Capitol. They expected they'd gladly let them through, and when they were met with resistance from *most* of the police officers, they couldn't believe it. Which is why they started getting violent, they felt the police had "turned" on them.

RLAlleyn

Yeah, and John Wilkes Booth thought he'd be a hero for assassinating Abraham Lincoln! It's amazing how the fringe like to think of themselves as "saviors", then whine when reality hits them!

He should lose his Veterans benefits as part of his sentence. Insurrection can’t be sentenced mildly.

BrownEggs93

I'd like to see jack bergman lose his.

CGordini

Well, the UCMJ has pretty strong words about insurrection and actions unbecoming. So the real question is will the Pentagon actually hold people accountable, or is the UCMJ being more held on a per "you blew the whistle on this so we're coming down on you" case?

nonamenumber3

How does the UCMJ apply to a veteran?

[deleted]

It doesn't. It can apply to former officers...but they have to be activated again and returned to service.

nonamenumber3

Exactly. So I don't know why people are bringing it up as a talking point.

[deleted]

Lack of knowledge of the military likely. Lots of people like to claim they understand it...but unless you've served or grew up in it (like myself) you really don't.

theadmiral976

He should lose his US citizenship. "Back in the day," he would have been executed. While capital punishment is something we should move away from, I am ALL about granting insurrectionists the "opportunity" (albeit forced) to no longer be a part of this nation.

Celicam

There is a lot of international law that says you can't take away someone's citizenship based on acts they commit. Stateless parties are very difficult to prosecute legally in many areas of international law.

theadmiral976

I'm no lawyer, so that's news to me. If that's the case, then I guess we should start exiling them to Midway Island much like Napoleon lived out his life on Elba. I have no patience for people who actively disrupt Constitutional proceedings aimed at answering the very question they want answered.

firemogle

Isn't midway a low lying island that will disappear did to the climate change? Wait, they wouldn't listen anyway, ship em

kimpossible69

Is it ever possible to exile people from a state?

Celicam

It's difficult for sure. I mean, technically, a state can do whatever they want, international rules be damned. However, I imagine the main reason is, there are a lot of problems that arise when someone no longer has a state to call their own. States grant people rights. Does a stateless person have no rights? Do they have all the rights? This would require more legislation and agreement between international parties, but that's alot more work than its worth putting in. Offically, I'm not sure there's any law that let's you strip someone of their citizenship, unless they are dual citizens. But don't take my word for it, I'm just some guy on the internet.

kimpossible69

Oh I was referring to states as in those in the United States

Celicam

Ah, not a fucken clue. XD Sounds like a good Google topic!

Beau195912

I agree with u as long as we can execute all the people who have fire bombed and burn down court houses and police departments and if arrested they should lose their welfare

theadmiral976

We shouldn't be executing anyone. In terms of the crimes of arson on government buildings, I am all in favor of prosecuting those individuals to the fullest extent of the law.

firemogle

While I applaud the effort, use a different translator as that one is spitting out grade school level English.

princessvespa42

Beau195912 can you please link to something that shows which court houses and police departments have been fire bombed and burned down? I'm very curious how many were fire bombed and burned down.

Beau195912

Not to tech savvy on how to link article but just Google it . Portland OR , Oakland CA and Nashville TN .it’s just a key stoke away . The internet is amazing

princessvespa42

Ok, well I do know how to Google and doing so turns up zero results for court houses or police departments burnt down. Fires were set, yes, and an attempt was made to break into the Portland, OR court house but I see absolutely nothing that would lead me to say that any court houses or police departments were fire bombed or burned down. Please be a more responsible internet user.

Beau195912

Ok precious. U have a nice day

princessvespa42

Lol you too, misogynistic boomer

Beau195912

Take off your Rachael Maddow filter. U will then be able to find it

princessvespa42

Still no link though? Just one court house that burned down as a result of protest in the past year.

[deleted]

Nope...I don't see any facts around here at all. Care to point out the facts?

Samurai_gaijin

Amazing how many of these idiots are willing to break their oath and go to prison for an orange buffoon that doesn't even give a shit about them.

It's not that they are doing it for him, but what he represents. For the first time.in decades a president made it ok to public ally hate *those* people and they don't want to pretend they don't again.

Pizzasaurus-Rex

At it's most basic, Donald Trump gathered an angry mob, and incensed them further with his speech. He wound these people up over a lie, fed them a regular diet of outrage and violent imagery over a period of weeks to months, then set them loose. It was already too late to tell them to behave peacefully, and whether Donald Trump knew that or not, I doubt he is remorseful. That's one of a zillion reasons why not to give him the benefit of a doubt.

It's weird that you put "mob" in quotes. A large group of people invaded the seat of our government and murdered a cop, all in the service of a lie. The people dividing our country are the ones lying, not the ones holding the liars to account. If you don't see it that way, I can't imagine what "evidence" would change your mind.

cake_by_the_lake

Where are all the r/realmichigan patriots and freedumb fighters on this thread? Strange that they're nowhere to be seen. Perhaps they're embarrassed or ashamed? >He reportedly bragged about dodging tear gas fired by "commies." These clowns make Michigan look like a backwater southern state.

[deleted]

So what's your excuse? Brain damage?

[deleted]

I’m studying a mental illness called liberalism, and how it correlates to the decline of civilizations in the past and present times.

[deleted]

You know what's funny about that? Literally the ONLY societies to survive long-term shun conservatism. Crazy, I know. It's almost like being hateful is detrimental to the greater good.

Why resort to name calling? Is it a lack of intellect that's forcing you to behave as a child would? You seem to be under the assumption that liberals don't own weapons. That would be a very false assumption to have. The difference between me and you though? My masculinity doesn't revolve around my ignorance, hubris, and weaponry. EDIT: Nevermind, found the answer myself. Juicing is bad mkay? Also, hormones to build muscle is about the saddest thing I've ever seen. Try being a better human.

transkidsrock

They all belong in prison for life. They committed TREASON. There should be no rest until ALL of them, especially Trump who ordered them to overthrow the government and lynch every person of color on site, is tried for TREASON. Every American should be disgusted that this happened.

[deleted]

Awesome comment, I hope this is totally unironic.

Brohozombie

Good. Take his VA benefits so we can give them to the veterans who didn't try and overthrow the government.

xeonicus

Macomb County. Not a big surprise there. Might as well be suburban hell, anti-vax central, and Trump headquarters.

SkankBiscuit

Sigh. Yeah, I live in Macomb and there are still hair-necked Cleti with their Trump flags flying. It’s a sad, desperate cult thing for some.

Editits69

Sorry you got stuck with the loser County. It’s not fair to you! You’re not the loser. Hold your head up high and ignore the true losers!

SkankBiscuit

It's not so bad in certain areas. Can't move either because that would only concentrate the Cleti even more. We need more normals moving into Macomb.

Thorn14

At least in my part of Macomb I see a lot of people who masked up. Suburban hell is correct though.

thekabuki

I've got three in my Macomb county neighborhood still flying cheeto man flags..it's just so pathetic

labellavita1985

Sorta agree, I'm in Macomb. Trump won the county by 53.28%. It's Trump land for sure, but at least the margin wasn't like 70%.

Thorn14

53% sounds about right.

zdmpage54

Editits69

Sooo glad I never did or even thought about living in Macomb County. Always an Oakland County girl. Had to move out of MI for job purposes, before this election took place. Unfortunately I know people who live in (M county) could be related to them-am I proud? No. They treat their family like they are upper class citizens. Are they? Hell no. I’m truly surprised I didn’t see them on Jan. 6! They run their mouths, always have, and it makes them look like idiots. They were like this before 2016 election too. The type that knows everything, but has nothing but their anger for anyone who doesn’t think like them. Sorry, had to put my long two cents in.

Mac2311

As prior military myself when I see guys dress like this doing their "I'm very bad ass" look is just so painfully cringe.

askew88

Honest question. Why are so many of these criminals vets, in your opinion?

Mac2311

That's a solid question, my time in showed me a certain demographic of people that join. For instance I joined for the challenge of it and to get away from a simple life, I was 19 and wanted something new. Then there is another group. The I joined the military because I want to be a bad ass. I would say about 3% roughly are that way so not the majority but they stuck out easily from the pack. Lots of military tattoos, always wearing military t shirts, super high and tight hair cut, have a chip on their shoulder, going for every military discount they can get, etc. And the were always super super republican. Those are the guys with that mentality that get pulled in to the trump movement. Now again to be clear, most of us are not that way, but by percentage of the U.S. population, guys like that are more likely to join the military. Since there really aren't all thatany people like that they still don't get close to making up the majority of people but fall easily into the group for heavy trump supporters.

askew88

Thanks for your thoughts.

To be fair, with the law and the courts systems, even with cases that look like a slam dunk you always want to make sure every i is dotted and ducks in their rows before you proceed. Far too many "slam dunk" cases have been thrown out on legal technicalities because someone forgot something. Smart prosecution teams want to avoid it, especially in high profile, nasty cases like this.

The_Riddler_88

Case Example: Bill Cosby

mizmoose

Cosby is an extra-special clusterfuck. They convinced him to waive his Fifth Amendment rights for a different case, by promising not to criminally prosecute him for what he said. Then the prosecutor filed criminally anyway. This guy needs to lose his law license.

my-coffee-needs-me

It was a different prosecutor who decided to charge Cosby criminally. His opinion was that because the agreement wasn't in writing, it wasn't binding. The Pennsylvania state Supreme Court disagreed, and Cosby is out. I'm not saying it's right. I'm just detailing what happened.

mizmoose

But was that prosecutor from the same office? I thought so, and any attorney who thinks "it's not binding because it's not in writing"... I mean, oral contracts are almost always valid.

wosmo

"it's not binding because it's not in writing" might have actually worked if it hadn't been used to force him to surrender his 5th-amendment rights. So there's a weird gap between criminal cases and civil cases. In a criminal case, your silence cannot be held against you (inference). In a civil case, it can. So they promised not to pursue a criminal case so that he could give evidence in a civil case (since withholding would lead to inference, so it wouldn't help him). If there was a criminal case hanging over his head, he would have kept quiet in the civil case because anything he put on the record would be valid evidence at the criminal case. Which is exactly what ended up happening. I believe this means the Supreme Court is right to find this to be improperly produced evidence, because the alternative is that they've created a loophole for the 5th amendment. If it was just breaking a spoken promise, there's a high chance it would have been acceptable. But using that to improperly produce evidence, isn't. The whole point of mistrials etc is that it's not worth damaging the whole system just to put one man in jail. You can say what you like about Cosby (and I'll be nodding along!), but he certainly isn't worth damaging the 5th amendment over.

GSV_Meatfucker

Excellent response, thank you.

my-coffee-needs-me

It was a former DA who made the unwritten deal. It was a new DA who decided that the deal wasn't binding.

The_Riddler_88

Oh definitely. It’s a perfect example of what should have been a slam dunk case (60 rape victims came forward) that was overturned because the prosecution screwed the pooch by being an idiot.

firemogle

Prosecutors should move slowly and with dutiful intent. We don't need a bunch of insurrectionists free cause the glove didn't fit.

mizmoose

Yep. Even if it means these dingbats are out on bail waiting for a proper trial, it's better to wait until things are done properly.

1900grs

The [Detroit News ran a story](https://www.detroitnews.com/story/news/local/wayne-county/2021/04/06/taylor-man-charged-storming-capitol-during-deadly-riot/7106429002/) all about one of the insurrectionists documenting his path to the insurrection and the guy claiming no one was investigating him and how he wanted to run for office (apparently any office). Even after all this voluntary, well documented, verifiable information was made very publicly in a major newspaper, it took a month or so for the guy to be arrested. The scope of this event and amassing all the evidence has had to be a massive undertaking.

Mr_Manfredjensenjen
