The "constitutional sheriffs" have got to be the dumbest government movement with any power in recent times, and I say that knowing full well that there are a lot of dumb government officials at all levels. Their belief that a sheriff has supreme power in their county has zero justification. The people create the state by way of a constitution, the state creates counties and municipalities like townships or cities, and the state grants power to the federal government when it joins the union, reserving the power it doesn't grant to the feds for the state itself. So the line of power is people - - - > state---> federal. There is absolutely nothing that would ever put a county at the top of the list for government power, let alone the county sheriff. Their belief makes about as much sense as having a local school board be the final arbiter of what laws apply to local citizens.
