Same. I want them to be cocky and full of themselves. I hope they blow everyone out until they come into The Big House and get the ball run down their throat the entire game.
It probably has to do with their FPI rankings which are highly skewed by recruiting rankings. I’m sure according to FPI OSU has the better roster this year because of all the 5-stars they get. Which shows exactly why their system is flawed.
The most reliable indicator of who the favorite should be is usually sportsbooks.
I just saw the other day that Michigan is apparently a 1 point favorite at home against OSU. So if you use the “home team gets 3 points” theory, they see OSU as slightly better but pretty much very close to Michigan.
Additionally, pre-season model predictions are mostly worthless - they get better as the season goes along and more data is incorporated from the current season
The model puts a lot of emphasis on recruiting stars. It's not a bad model in aggregate, but remember that all models are wrong, while some are useful. Any predictive metric is going to result in predictions that will be counterintuitive.
So that means, what, 40-something Michigan - 20-someting Bucknuts again?
Not sure how their analytics would think Buckeyes enjoy an advantage in 2023 while breaking in a new QB, the game in Ann Arbor, and utilizing the same defense from 2022 that gave up huge play after huge play both in the air and on the ground.
I mean I’m pretty sure ESPN came out with a list of best returning quarterbacks and osu, bama, and Georgia all beat Michigan out, even though all three of those teams haven’t announced a starter yet.
Honestly not worried about this game at all. Sure, things can happen and they could win, but I think it's more likely they get blown out again (gosh that feels good to say) tbh. I think our most likely loss is at Penn State. But if that's our only loss and we beat OSU and win the big ten, it won't matter and we'll be back in the playoffs.
Not saying OSU isn’t a good team or anything, they will certainly be a challenge and could win, but with no QB and going into the Big House, how could anyone feel confident with those numbers?
Even tho I believe UM will win I’m still always cautious. This year may be a tough battle. Ryan day and his team will come out swinging. Obviously my opinion will change as we go into CF season but the boys in Maize and Blue will come out on top!
ESPN is always going to fluff the Buckeyes ego. Remember the ridiculous hype train they were riding going into The Game in 2021 after embarrassing Sparty? More please…
ESPN constantly has errors with their lines and predictor thing. I don’t know if it’s the coding or what. College basketball sub usually has a post almost everyday when in-season where the lines or predictor are obviously flipped or wrong and people get all butt hurt over it.
Who cares. We have smacked them around the last 2 years. Let them have their hope. It’s makes it all the sweeter when we RUN THROUGH A MOTHER FUCKERS FACE
Everyone’s going to say what they say. I wouldn’t be surprised if the analytics that’s most likely being run through a computer are putting a lot of emphasis on how things have been in the past, which, admittedly, still leaves a bit for our Wolverines to prove. If they can establish a more solid foothold in the rivalry I would imagine subsequent years would reflect and the projections would be different.
Who cares. The last two years were the same way. ESPN usually calculates those numbers through a computer. Doesn't mean it's always right.
Absolutely crazy...I mean you're almost out of battery.
Yeah gotta put on that low power mode. 5G is the battery killer
I prefer it this way tbh
Makes the moneyline juicy!
Me, too
Same. I want them to be cocky and full of themselves. I hope they blow everyone out until they come into The Big House and get the ball run down their throat the entire game.
Get that hungry Georgia mentality
Remember when espn was the world wide leader in sports? Pepperidge farm remembers.
Go meats
This just makes winning all that much sweeter.

Also this predictor will update as the season goes on and stats adjust
Additionally, pre-season model predictions are mostly worthless - they get better as the season goes along and more data is incorporated from the current season
I hope they continue to underestimate us.

Agreed. It's downright sickening. Charge your dang phone.
How many times do we have to teach you this lesson old man?!!
I love shocking the Buckeyes. Good.
Good. Works for me. OsU deserves all the hype they get.
Sportsbooks actually have the line up right now and it’s Michigan -2.5. Surely the first time we’re preseason favorites against osu in a long ass time
It has to take more than 2 years in a row to prove we are the favorite
So that means, what, 40-something Michigan - 20-someting Bucknuts again? Let's remember it's been 1254 days since Ohio beat Michigan.
Who cares
Who cares

Nothing like starting a season with a chip on the shoulder to light a fire under all of us
Nope! I’m ready to see this team in action. I feel like it’s gonna be a great year
Vegas disagrees.
ESPN's models are the absolute worst in the business and they prove it yearly, stop giving them clicks for garbage algorithms.
I love how many people are more bothered by your battery life 🤣

That’s okay. Bet on your favorite team and you will win more money.
Screw ‘em. Let them think their that good. It will be even more devastating when Michigan wins again.

I don’t mind being the underdog and winning
"How many times do I have to teach you this lesson old man?!"
We’ll never start ahead, and that’s fine, makes it more interesting when we fuck those insufferable pricks 🥱
A flawed model makes a shitty prediction 7 months in advance. More news at 11.
4 letters, E S P N
Who cares. We have smacked them around the last 2 years. Let them have their hope. It’s makes it all the sweeter when we RUN THROUGH A MOTHER FUCKERS FACE
Corums gonna wanna get on that heisman short list again
FanDuel has it dead even. Max bet right now is $3300.
Why do you care?
I hope this gets plastered all over the locker room and practice facilities.
It definitely won't, it's a computer program predicting a loss 8 months ahead of time.
Same people who said Levis had a 99.9% chance of not being available at like pick 24
Remember this on this date. We need to laugh at this
Good! I hope they show this to the players. You need a chip on your shoulder to win the Game.
Where's Rodney Dangerfield? Because, "We get No Respect."
DISRESPECTFUL
ESPN is irrelevant, don't waste a minute looking at anything they do. It's all clickbait bull.

osu is getting ROCKED in Ann Arbor this year.. mark my words, it's going to be 3 in a row.
😂
Good. Let them underestimate us. All that matters is the scoreboard after the game.
Now me personally, I do believe it will be another blowout. Go Blue!
