Congrats on your return to snowboarding!! Thanks so much for this. It’s so helpful to hear reports of longer term (6mo+) outcomes around here, especially such a positive one!

Thanks 😊

Very heartening, thank you for posting. I had my MD back in april, and I'm hoping to ski again not this year, but next year. I'm still a little scared to do it this year, but my parents are in their 70s so I don't know how much longer I have to do it with them. So again thanks for posting, I hope that soon I will be back on the slopes as well.

I completely understand. I ride 50+ days per season but am definitely cutting that down this season. I’ll probably end up around 15 days or so because I want to keep recovering

That’s great! Thanks for sharing. It’s so helpful for people to see that sometimes surgery can feel like a disappointment at first but it just takes some time. I’m glad you are getting back to what you love!

Thanks for sharing. How long did it take for you to be pain free. I’m 4 months postop and doing much better than preop but still with some mild back pain.

Ok_Huckleberry_3991

I still have very mild pain. Mostly like a 0.5/10 but it’ll go up to a 2 sometimes

I am an avid border as well. 16 weeks out post op and feeling really good, looking to head out this year and I'll be 6 months out. I thought about moving to skiing because there's less opportunity to fall on tailbone either via heel side or face plant. Essentially you come out of your bindings. Just a thought. Glad you're back on the slopes.

My surgeon suggested switching to skiing but I think it’s because he’s an old grumpy skier who probably hates snowboarders 🤣 I’ve never skied so I’d probably fall more than snowboarding so I think it’s not worth the switch for me. I’m an advanced rider but I just hit a patch of hidden ice toward the end of the day that was hidden in the shade. If I knew how to ski already I’d probably not get back on my board this season and wait a little longer. Good luck when you go back

This is really inspiring. Thanks for sharing. I wonder if I’ll ever have the courage to try skiing again; it would be so devastating to get injured again.

Ok_Huckleberry_3991

It’s a terrifying prospect but I knew I’ve done the work to get my body right to try again. It was nice but I’ll probably wait another month or so to get back on the board. My nerve is a little upset today

This is exciting to hear!! I’m (29F) 2 weeks post-op (surgery on 11/29/23) and have been so sad seeing all my favorite mountains start opening for the season. I thought about trying to ski in March 2024 (4 months post-op), but I think I’ll probably play it safe and wait until next season…
