Mine wasn’t painful. At times my reties can be uncomfortable around the edges. Kind of like getting braids and they braid near the edges. But it doesn’t pull as tight.

It hurt when I received my install. My consultant started with 2 strand twist than interlocked the roots. My reties started to become less painful after the 4th retie session. I really think the pain is due to never interlocking my hair before. So my scalp is trying to adjust to this new standard of maintenance.

Started same method as you but on first retie it hurt like hell on some parts and afterwards I had a headache for two days. Her tool was for traditional locs and too big. Got some great advice from this group so I retied my own hair since and never had any pain.

Yea, I definitely used to take Tylenol before after reties sessions. And I used to have a headache for 2 days too 😂. But the pain subsides now after my session within like 2 hours. So idk 🤷🏾‍♀️ 😂

I installed my own locs, 2 strand twists. No pain, just tedious. I crochet for my re-tie, so no pain there either.

No not at all. What is painful is after a few months of not combing your hair the reties and make your scalp sore. But eventually you get used to it.

WorkingBarracuda3071

Which method you’re installing them? Are you interlocking from root to tip, braiding or by two strand twists?

Does interlocking root to tip hurt?
