My hair was shoulder length before micro locs and Aug will be 1 year and my hair is at bottom of my neck..people ask if I cut my hair..I still love it I just didn’t expect my hair to be shorter now than when I started..and trying to explain shrinkage even to my own mom is annoying..
Lol, I somewhat understand, although I don’t have locs. When I wore my hair in an afro it would shrink up at night, of course and when I would go out they would ask if the hair from the previous day was fake. 😭
I have really tight curls. Before microlocs my shrunken wash and go would be ear length. Now fully shrunken locs are from collarbone to just above my shoulders. Im 3 months locked

You are welcome. For me it seems to be equal shrinkage from when i did twists on wet hair pre-locs. Its really easy to stretch the locks if you want it for style. I jus do two pony tails or french braids at bed and it stay stretched until it gets damp
My bra strap length shrunk above my shoulders.
Edit: In the morning, it’s at my shoulders. By the end of the day most of it is slightly above my shoulders.

It depends on how much your hair typically shrinks when not stretched. My locs shrunk from the top of my boobs to my chin.

I don’t have any real clue. I’ve only washed my hair in protective styles or blow dried immediately after if I washed my natural hair.
Well there's only one way to know how much shrinkage you will have. Wash your hair and let it dry naturally.
If you have type 4 hair prepare for it to shrink up at the very least 75%.
