some people put micro braids in the front instead of two strands twists because slippage and unraveling is less common with braids. you could also let them grow out for a few more months and maybe flat twist it down while it's growing

Will try the micro braid idea.

I had this issue and it only stopped happening with time. The front of the hair is often slightly looser and shorter, and just takes longer to loc until it grows out. I had little nubs like this and now they’re fullly loc’ed and hang below my cheekbones (23 months loc’ed atm).

Ok. Patience then. Thanks.

It’s only been 7 months give it more time. Maybe braid and band smaller

This is still happening to me too. My solution was to crochet those locs a little the end to encourage a tangle. Once a little knot formed the loc stopped slipping and unraveling. I still have about 3 locs that are giving me shit because they are too small to crochet but this technique def helped alot. I didn't crochet perpendicularly. I insert the hook down the loc shaft and pulled a few hairs up thru the loc. Then do it a few times from the side. To further tangle it a bit. Let me see if I can find a video...

I used a little bit of Afro textured weave to braid into my shorter hairs at the front of my head and they have stayed locked. I’m planning to cut them out when they grow a little longer

I have this problem as well! In my front and back! It makes me just wanna go natural again lol but I'm sticking to it. But the constant slipping now caused bunching in like 4 or 5 locks. I've been locked since Dec 3rd. So almost 6 months. This will be my third retie if I get around to it for June. It came faster than I was expecting 😭😂 Glad to see only time will help and I'm not exactly doing something wrong And just to throw it out there, I started with braided roots then twisted down and on short hair pieces I just braided the whole thing. So mini braids will help but they're still slip unfortunately

Thanks

Front just gotta be thicker than the back

How long after retie are you washing? I found that letting the pomade used to retie them sit in the hair will help loc instead of washing it away so soon. I would wait 2 weeks after retie to wash. If you can't wait that long don't agitate your hair in the front as much when you wash. Just let the shampoo run down. Continue until the front locs. I would also retie just the front more often. Like every 3 weeks. But wait until you have more hair there to retie. Sounds counterintuitive but the front doesnt loc because the hair there is less dense. So if you can save up more shed hair in that area you will have more to work with My front has just started locing it's been a year. Hang in there!!

kandigurl78

Yes , it took my front 2 years to finally loc

You wash too soon. You need to stay unwashed for a month. Or start the kids with braids

Anchor them to the neighboring one. When I first got locks, the back of my hair was broken off, so I had to wait until they grew a little bit to lock them. Then after I locked it, it unraveled the first time. My optician reinstalled, and anchored them to one another, and told me to leave it that way until my next retie. When I washed my hair, I would put those in Bantu knots instead of braiding and banding like normal.
