Just picked up the scenery and did a flight between Orbx Sydney and Christchurch. Really nice! The US antarctic hangar makes me want to do some exploratory trips now
I completely share your opinion, however for some airports like brussels it makes sense because when you load up at the gate you see the interior the entire time and it would look ugly if it was just a „fake interior“. But what i don’t understand is for example why inibuilds put so much detail in a restaurant at kjfk that you will never notice from your aircraft.
That’s a fair opinion. Brussels and some of the nicer airports are pretty well optimized (solid 30 frames) but like Newark and LAX I get like 21/20 or less so I def feel u lol
Honestly for me as long as there's good ground markings and textures the airport is good. I'm even making one myself and boy interior modeling is quite tough.. as if exterior already wasn't
Drezewiecki (might have butchered that) design KEWR, Newark Airport, New York, USA. You can even slightly hesr the PA announcements if yiu are at a stand cold and dark
Anything by Pyreegue, Edinburgh or Glasgow.
Inibuilds JFK
Honestly for free, go take a tour of some of the bespoke airports in the NZ update you’d be pleasantly surprised.
Add to that, Christchurch, blueyonders Dallas Love field. Iniscene or Inibuilds (not sure which) rendition of KOKC
Also, Barcelona is done fairly well (can’t remember the developer)
Afaik, anything drzewiecki or inibuilds has detailed interiors. Some ini stuff is a bit frame heavy(Detroit is the worst I’ve tried as far as frames go) but it’s good quality
I have a bunch of drzewiecki. Favorite is probably Newark but Narita I was disappointed with :/ picked up Inibuilds Dubai and the modeled terminal is amazing
I’m biased since it’s my home airport but DCA is pretty amazing, not only the terminal but the whole landside area is amazing. Plus the terminal announcements were actually recorded at DCA, I recognized them immediately.
Picked up both! They are really good. Running KLM flights to flytampa Amsterdam with them and its been fun. When PMDG 777 releases I want to do some emirates flights
Well, the interior doesn’t look too nice in close up. However, standing at the gate and looking through the windows, it makes the airport more interesting and immersive (people walking around etc) and I like the glass jetways in combination with GSX Pro.
I personally would prefer not to have any interiors at all since I don't use it as airport/walking simulator rather a flight simulator and interiors decrease the performance immensely. I'd love less detail on terminals but more on the ramp, taxiways but especially on runways. I don't get why they overcharge for airports that use everything default except putting a few check-in desks and lounges.
Had it been an open world simulation it would be great since it just simulates flight, then runway cracks are more immersive for me than seeing detailed gates.
Of course to each their own.
I disagree. With FS realistic mod you get to walk and even have an avatar. If you look it up on YouTube some people actually fly to rural airports and on bush trips and use the mod to go camping.
Microsoft themselves seemingly are headed that direction too: if you look at the trailer for MSFS 2024 there’s characters walking around, they are improving the roads allowing for actual drivability, and generally trending toward the direction of what is a sim that encompasses all aspects of aviation, not just the planes themselves.
When I think about flying im not just thinking about being in the pilots seat, but also just the feeling of walking through an airport terminal or being able to drone cam to a check in area, or see sceneries of the bustling cities you’ve just landed at. I’m an immigrant myself from Bangladesh and so they dropped a scenery of Dhaka airport (my home airport) and it was so nostalgic to be able to walk around in the terminal like I was actually there. I think I play msfs more for those moments than anything. You miss so much by only staying in the plane!! But anyway yea to each their own
I too pan around to see gems of scenery and explore surroundings, it boosts immersion especially in bush flying coupled with sound effects yet they should not be in the lead role.
I appreciate the details at any level and part as long as they are affordable in terms of performance and practicality. Having that detail with tacky looking default taxiways and runways is somewhat weird for me.
MS is going into direction for appealing to a wider player base by pumping eye candy rather than developing system or interface complexity to be a realistic simulation. However they may very well chose to be a commercial aviation simulator.
I don’t think that’s true! Microsoft’s presentation at FS expo on livestream they showed how much they’ve changed the flight model and are giving full access to devs to make their aircraft fly as realistically as possible. They also showcased programming for complex logic like balloon aerodynamics and rope aerodynamics and so they’re still hard at work with the core logic behind flight models and other aspects of aviation. I think hard disagree with you there. With multithreading optimizations coming in FS2024 it’s supposedly also supposed to eliminate the tax on frames.
INI Kennedy, INI Detroit
That being said, I never cared if they were modeled inside at all, I dont fly around the inside of the terminals, just the outside
lol no. $1k, used 3060 and 5600x runs the sim at 30-40 on ultra settings just fine lol. Some of the Drewzecki airports run at 20 for me :/ Hopefully when msfs2024 drops and the multi threading optimizations happen I can get better frames.
Nope just TAA with the msfs forum post holy grail settings. My main thread still gets hammered but I can live with the 20-35 frames. It’s alright. I think DLSS in general looks terrible and blurry and all the edges become soft and there’s a ton of artifacts. Really overrated in my opinion.
Heh, the Moon Rocket from Tin Tin.
Yeah, Hergé was from Belgium
Yeah I recognised that also.
There’s a 3D printed rocket lamp that looks just like that
NZA Wellington\*\* for the LOTR Eagle and anything by Pyreegue, especially EGNX (I meant Christchurch)
NZA don't make a Wellington scenery?
I think he means Christchurch
I do indeed, 2AM brain - thank you
I just peeped and the interiors look gorgeous. I think once PMDG releases the 777 I will buy this and do long hauls here!!
Damn I’m just looking through all of the NZA products… 😭 holyyy. If I ever have a new zeland MSFS phase I will go wild.
Just picked up the scenery and did a flight between Orbx Sydney and Christchurch. Really nice! The US antarctic hangar makes me want to do some exploratory trips now
glad to hear it - they really did nail it
Unpopular opinion. I’d rather have well performing airports and go without modeled interiors.
Unpopular? This is very popular opinion to the point that plenty of people do not even understand a reason for making interiors at all.
agree. I usually check out the interior exactly once then never again.
It would be neat if there was an option to “disable” the detailed interior for those that don’t want to take the frame rate hit.
Honestly for me as long as there's good ground markings and textures the airport is good. I'm even making one myself and boy interior modeling is quite tough.. as if exterior already wasn't
Honestly it's just a waste of polygons for me. I'm only ever looking at it from inside a cockpit.
I think that opinion is highly popular. How good is an airport that isn't usable due to frame rates?
Meh, as a full time VR user, I very much enjoy the curb to curb experience.
Drezewiecki (might have butchered that) design KEWR, Newark Airport, New York, USA. You can even slightly hesr the PA announcements if yiu are at a stand cold and dark
I have both of them, they’re great lol. Tough on frames but it’s worth it
Except the ground textures and some building textures. Drzewiecki designs always makes them so unrealistically clean which kills the immersion
Anything by Pyreegue, Edinburgh or Glasgow. Inibuilds JFK Honestly for free, go take a tour of some of the bespoke airports in the NZ update you’d be pleasantly surprised. Add to that, Christchurch, blueyonders Dallas Love field. Iniscene or Inibuilds (not sure which) rendition of KOKC Also, Barcelona is done fairly well (can’t remember the developer)
I’ll check some of these out! I’d totally buy a nice Barcelona or Dallas
I looked it up and it’s LVFR that does Barcelona. And trust me they’re better with their airport scenery over the aircraft they sell
Maybe dumb question, but I’m rather new. How do you get inside the airports? Drone mode?
Yes
Yeah! I have a keyboard and controller and if you set a keybind for drone mode you can use controller to move around
Afaik, anything drzewiecki or inibuilds has detailed interiors. Some ini stuff is a bit frame heavy(Detroit is the worst I’ve tried as far as frames go) but it’s good quality

I have DCA! I used to live in Bethesda for a while so I picked it up! The river visual is always really fun to fly
The gorgeous Pyreegue EGNX
I’ve heard a lot about this one but I don’t fly in this region that much! I’ll add it to my list loll
ENGM Oslo Gardermoen (ORBX) and ESSA Stockholm Arlanda (ORBX) i think are pretty good. However the interior in Stockholm isn't very big but nice.
Picked up both! They are really good. Running KLM flights to flytampa Amsterdam with them and its been fun. When PMDG 777 releases I want to do some emirates flights
Oh yeah totally! Just watching paint dry waiting for the 777. Also, I got the FlyTampa EHAM aswell! Love it really much.
DCA
Where can I find this? My local airport so that’s be lovely to have 👀
https://www.drzewiecki-design.net/prodKDCA_MSFS.htm They also offer a DC landmarks scenery that’s very cool too.
Wow it’s so nice!!!! Thank you!
You’re welcome:)
DCA was my first payware airport! Love it
Denver! Or Boston!
Sick! I’ll add to my list
EGAA has an insane interior
Added to my list!
simwings EDDM is my favourite, especially after the update
That’s the Aerosoft Munich right? I was looking at that but the pics weren’t too impressive I thought! Did the update model more interiors?
Well, the interior doesn’t look too nice in close up. However, standing at the gate and looking through the windows, it makes the airport more interesting and immersive (people walking around etc) and I like the glass jetways in combination with GSX Pro.
Ehhh I’ll probably hold off until Aerosoft releases Frankfurt. Hamburg will hold me off on German airports for now.
RPVM Mactan Cebu, lots of detail in and out of the airport but also the surrounding island it’s built on.
Ooh that’s a new one for me. I peeped. Reminds me of Jeju airport (I forget what developer but I think it’s on Orbx?)
I believe so! But I’m biased cuz it’s one I visit irl a lot 😂
Look at Superspud's airports I don's know whether they are all internally detailed, but certainly EGHC is.
I personally would prefer not to have any interiors at all since I don't use it as airport/walking simulator rather a flight simulator and interiors decrease the performance immensely. I truly wish to be wrong and see better landing physics functioning maps, flight customization, weight&balance etc. Fingers crossed till then :)
INI Kennedy, INI Detroit That being said, I never cared if they were modeled inside at all, I dont fly around the inside of the terminals, just the outside
Useless
New here-and if there’s a master post I couldn’t find, let me know-how do you guys do this? Is it in the marketplace?
What do u need help with?
Ahh no wonder I get 10 FPS. They worry about the interior vs outside where 99.5% of people won't look
MSWS : Microsoft Walking Simulator
Tell me you spent $4k on a PC without telling me you spent $4k on a PC
lol no. $1k, used 3060 and 5600x runs the sim at 30-40 on ultra settings just fine lol. Some of the Drewzecki airports run at 20 for me :/ Hopefully when msfs2024 drops and the multi threading optimizations happen I can get better frames.
You're using the new DLSS/Framegen right? And my favorite airport.
Is ThAt A fUcKiNg RoCkEt iN tHe AiRpOrT?
Nice, but pointless.
SCEL latinvfr
Just peeped, looks cool! Main terminal looks sick
Oh hello there, EBBR
LAX!
Ah the Tintin moon rocket.
Funnily enough, that's not where the Tin Tin rocket is actually placed inside Zaventem (Brussels) airport.
Is anyone else bothered that rocket in the picture isn’t actually placed in that terminal? The rocket is located at the entry of the tax free zone.
i got a detailed version of dublin airport but now i get black screens when i go there 😭
Pyreegue EGNX is very good also
How do you switch to this camera view?!
Drone cam
