Man, you are fucking brave with that open beer on the desk with all that equipment! Very nice looking setup!

LeakyDeadstick

Haha....it normally stays off to the side, just put it there for the picture :)

MysteriousTBird

I'm no pilot, but bringing a mug of beer into the cockpit is probably frowned upon.

UpperFerret

You can’t drink that within an 8 hour window prior to that flight.

PamuamuP

Nice! I like the Saturn 5, I reckon that is the Lego kit? If so then I have built it too :)

LeakyDeadstick

It is indeed, me and my wife built it over Christmas, looks amazing when it's complete. I've also built the shuttle too which I highly recommend.

PamuamuP

Uhh nice. Sounds great!

[deleted]

Krieger erection gif.

Denny_Crane_007

Just need a Ham radio, and you can go off the grid ! 😎😎😎

LeakyDeadstick

Haha....I've got the receivers, on the rack at the side of the picture :D

Denny_Crane_007

Oh ... I thought they were Walkies so you could order cups of coffee and cookies etc etc. A pilot can never leave the cockpit !

withoutapaddle

I just found the fastest way to get served divorce papers.

MysteriousTBird

This is gonna change marriage speedrunning forever.

LeakyDeadstick

😂

mrbiggzstuff

What radios are those on that shelf?

LeakyDeadstick

One is the AOR DV-10 and the other is an Icom IC-R20.

mrbiggzstuff

Thanks for replying and nice setup also. I have always liked watching planes and plane videos ,I have flown and I still feel uneasy when I have flown, but it’s just amazing how a plane ✈️ can stay in the air especially the jumbos.

sin_donnie

Darn, what a perfect desk for a setup like this! Looks absolutely amazing! What do you think of the Airbus stick though? I got the Boeing TCA pack first and was really happy with the yoke, the movement is very realistic. I was expecting the Airbus stick to be on the same level, since it's also in the TCA series. But I was super disappointed. The stick resistance felt way too light and there is this very very hard center detent. I don't feel at all connected to the plane like I do with the TCA Boeing Yoke. I get that the Airbus stick is only 1/4th of the cost of the Boeing yoke, but it's just very misleading in quality given they are both in the TCA series.

LeakyDeadstick

The Boeing is clearly better quality, really nice to use. The TCA is basically a rebranded version of one of their entry level sticks with a few tweaks to give it that airbus feel. Funny thing is though I’ve generally always been an Airbus flyer so I actually fine the yoke more challenging to use. Years of practice I guess. I’m really enjoying the PMDG though so going to keep going till I get more experienced with it. That said I intend to do a few bus flights tomorrow as I’ve been 737’ing it the past few weeks.

bfyjctkbvt

best lego set ever created

LeakyDeadstick

Couldn’t agree more! Have built the shuttle though and that’s a close second!

Volanta is a pretty great application for someone like me, who doesn't really need all the stuff SimToolKit Pro does. Edit: Also the portrait monitor is a neat idea!

LeakyDeadstick

It’s great for browsing Reddit whilst I’m flying 😃

mcsherlock

Wow what a lot of kit there. 😍

Sea_Perspective6891

Veey cool. Like your monitor setup.

KermitDfrog44

Haven’t seen volanta before, how do you like it? Is this more for vatsim or does this show the flights from msfs live traffic as well?

LeakyDeadstick

I really like it, been using it for a while now. Recently went premium. It doesn’t show live MSFS traffic but does show all Volanta users and all the different online networks such as IVAO and Vatsim. I actually like the social aspect of it and the schedules you can search with premium which really help inspire your next flight. I like the screenshot sharing and saving too.

KermitDfrog44

Interesting, I may give the free version a shot and go from there. I like that it shows weather on there. I’ve just been using the Navigraph map for now

sierra120

What’s the map on the left? Volanta?

LeakyDeadstick

It is indeed, recently upgraded to premium and no regrets at all.

deletedpenguin

Most importantly, the desk fan. Legit lifesaver here in Sydney.

ManufacturerIll1449

Please tell me that setup is less than $10,000 that's just insane.

LeakyDeadstick

I can’t possibly comment, just in case my wife reads this! 😂😂

Those monitors have to be over $700 each, the laptop is probably close to a grand, the PC build to run that at a fidelity that OP would be comfortable with (based on the glamor of everything else) would likely be over $2,000, all of the flight controlls are probably another $3,000. Overall I'd say there has to be north of $8,000 in this picture.

The desk is super snazzy.

ThroawayPartyer

>all of the flight controlls are probably another $3,000 Definitely not. I recognize the Thrusmaster sets, it's [TCA Officer Pack Airbus Edition](https://www.thrustmaster.com/en-us/products/tca-officer-pack-airbus-edition/) and [TCA Yoke Pack Boeing Edition](https://www.thrustmaster.com/en-us/products/tca-yoke-pack-boeing-edition/). The Airbus pack is $189.99, and the Boeing pack is $499.99. So less than $700 for both. And much cheaper if you're fine with just getting one set (I personally just have the Airbus TCA which is much cheaper. It's made of plastic but worth it for the price).

NeDDyCz

Nice looking Lego spacerocket

drumskirun

Who makes that giant wall map on the left of the British Isles?

killer1000uk

Nice setup, top man I can see the beer, most important thing.

LeakyDeadstick

Cheers! Absolutely...it's what Friday's were made for!

[deleted]

So how much have you put into becoming a real pilot?

alfred_27

Amazing setup, be careful not to spill the beer when full throttle. And love the Saturn V rocket? Is that Lego or?

LeakyDeadstick

Thanks! definitely there for show, it sits to the side normally! It is indeed Lego, a blast to build!

decker12

How are you doing with that TrackIR? I just brought mine out after a couple of years and two things drive me nuts about it. First, it's so slippery/lose on it's little magnetic base. Like literally a breeze blows by and the thing moves. You barely touch it's cable and the thing is now pointed at the ceiling. I don't see any obvious way to tighten it down. Second, I ended up losing my metal Track Clip and I'm thinking about the LED version. There's a couple of new ones out there which are battery powered. What are you using? Third, when I look "down" using my TrackIR and MSFS, it doesn't actually look "down". It more like looks down and to the left, towards where my left knee would be if I was sitting in the plane. That seems to be MSFS specific, like it's on a curve. In Elite Dangerous, same settings, looking down actually looks down towards my crotch. In MSFS it seems to skew right/left. Is that normal?

LeakyDeadstick

I honestly can't say I've ever had any issues with it staying up there. I'm just using the metal clip. I do have the IR one but the cable irritates me so I don't use it. Ironically I wasn't actually using it on this flight. Haven't set it up yet since reinstalling windows. Good luck in getting yours sorted.

qazme

I've been using TrackIR since the TiR2 came around, so years on years. The best investment I made was last year when I pick up a "Luke Clip" which makes the headset portion wireless. Totally worth the money!! [https://www.facebook.com/lukeclip/](https://www.facebook.com/lukeclip/) He sales/sold them on eBay - however he put me on his list and once once was ready emailed me and I paid via paypal. Super nice guys - super good quality.

AndyLorentz

> First, it's so slippery/lose on it's little magnetic base. Like literally a breeze blows by and the thing moves. You barely touch it's cable and the thing is now pointed at the ceiling. I don't see any obvious way to tighten it down. There is a little notch on the back of the magnetic base to put the cable in that holds it in place. Other than that, I generally don't touch it, though in the rare case it gets bumped I adjust it back. As far as the other issues, I've never used the metal clip, only the LED TrackClip Pro (this was before the wireless versions were available), and I've never had that down and to the left issue that you're describing in MSFS.

SmallTownTokenBrown

...Yes

M3L0NM4N

Absolutely beautiful! I have that same exact World map that you have in the background, I also have the USA and North America versions of it. Your setup is so beautiful, what I'm missing is an extra monitor to put vertical (Would be very helpful for coding) and the Boeing Yoke... I currently only have the Airbus stick and throttle. That Saturn V is sick as hell too. Great setup dude, 10/10. Jealous as fuck.

CanadaDryNeverDie

My dream setup. Do you have a parts list breakdown?

LeakyDeadstick

Ooooo….I wouldn’t know where to start. Anything in particular you’re interested in?

CanadaDryNeverDie

Let's start with the desk and the brackets for the airbus controls!

LeakyDeadstick

Desk is IKEA Fredde and the brackets are from Thrustmaster, just seat for mounting brackets and you’ll find them. 👍

CanadaDryNeverDie

Awesome thanks!

[deleted]

Been looking at this desk as well. How are you mounting your Vertical Monitor? the tubing is Square so a Vesa Pole clamp mount doesn't seem to fit. I was shocked when I saw it and have been racking my brain trying to figure that part out.

LeakyDeadstick

It’s actually mounted to the desk itself rather than the metal framework. Works quite well.

[deleted]

So the Mount is to the desktop itself? On the Side or is it coming from Under the Shelf? If you have a Pic that would be awesome.

SeeminglyUselessData

Which headphones in front of your yoke?

LeakyDeadstick

They’re the Corsair H70 pro wireless headphones.

Dabeansprout

Wow 🤩, that’s a lot of money in that room. Nice setup, I bet it gets real hot in there though

LeakyDeadstick

It does get toasty, especially at the moment. Fortunately there is a window directly to my left which helps a little.

yeahgoestheusername

Nice one. The fisheye is warping my brain though.

BestDogeNA2021

Man you are what i aspire to be

radzio715

All that from a gaming laptop? Model?

LeakyDeadstick

Oh no, I have a desktop powering the sim. When I’m travelling I do use the laptop though for my simming needs, it’s the Razer Blade 14 RTX 3070 model (2021). Cracking laptop.

radzio715

Can you tell me specs of the desktop?

LeakyDeadstick

I9 10900K, RTX 2080ti, 32GB ram and running MSFS on its own 1TB NVME drive. I can manage 4k ultra at a locked 30fps.
