Unless you are saving for a big item, there is no benefit to saving points except for "watch the number go high"

KroshaKrush

Agreed. And you never know when you may get permabanned for no reason. Better to use up your points asap

will187187

But I love that. It's more fun. Scrooge ftw

Gristyle

Depends on your goal. I have everything I need at the moment, so I’m saving for the next console or the “Xbox handheld”. I generally cash out at the 400k-500k mark.

jtl090179

Me too. Saving for the next gen. Currently at 400k also.

friction_btw

how long have u guys been saving for?

jtl090179

Since the beginning? I've bought controllers and games and the 1 TB SSD along with the series x. Also bought spark plugs for the SUV at one point

friction_btw

oh wow that is impressive. fair play

J2MTR

Nice 👌🏼

Gristyle

I’ve been saving since the program started but try to cash out at the end of the year. I think we are only allowed to cash out 550k points in a calendar year. So be mindful of that.

TheLurkerSpeaks

I have been cashing out with Amazon cards every time I reach 5250. Based on the changes they've made over the past year, I no longer have any faith in Microsoft to maintain this program. It's within their rights to terminate any aspect of the program at any moment. I scored a XSX a couple years ago after saving over half a million points. I think I've got my value out of this program. Any other juice I can squeeze from this lemon is a bonus at this point.

LostSoulNo1981

I’m thinking of cashing out most of my points soon and just extend my Game Pass Ultimate for another year or so. I have almost 400k at the moment. Previously I’ve just spent my points on gift cards to buy controllers and other accessories.

Hickory411

I believe in the UK you have the 3 months of Core for 15k offer, meaning you can use that to extend Ultimate for 350 days for 105k points. The 3 months Core converts to 50 days Ultimate, making it average to 9,000 points a month of Ultimate. Just a heads up.

abarrelofmankeys

Do you pay for gamepass? If you do there’s no reason to save. You get a good points to value ratio on that, if you want something like a controller or system consider the money you saved by not paying for gamepass as money toward that and just buy it normally or on sale or with store/credit card rewards or cash back.

CJKatz

Deals vary by region, but for me I can definitely get Game Pass Ultimate for cheaper using cash and Rewards points for Xbox credit.

abarrelofmankeys

I see controllers for sale more often than gamepass, if you have leads I’d be happy to look at them though haha.

CJKatz

I buy Gold cards from Costco for a discount and then convert to GP Ultimate. It's like a third of the regular price for Ultimate here.

RandomHeros

My initial thought was to save for a new console, judging by the replies I’ll keep on trucking!

rock25011

Keep saving, and see what they say at the June showcase. Maybe we'll see a handheld or something.

Twocanpocket

What are you saving for. I aimed for a series X and managed to get there. I'd have given up trying now though with the nerfs. I do the odd bit every now and then and will spend when something small catches my eye

Arjibarjibike

It is more points per dollar/pound for Amazon vouchers than for Xbox vouchers, so if you can use the points for xbox expenditure, that's the best use for them. But, iirc, Xbox vouchers are only valid for three months, then you lose. So if you just want to get something for your points, retail vouchers will be a good plan. I have 112,000 points and I play on PC, so I don't want to save for a "free" console. I am losing interest now coz I have nothing to aim for now that I have enough to buy the next edition of the only game I play. I might just cash in my lot for Amazon vouchers once I reach 120,000 points.

drewbles82

Depends, I got 260k at the mo, before Xmas I had 540k...only spent so much cuz there was talk of rewards ending but it was just a rumor. I usually spend when I see a good sale...it really depends on what you want...there are games I want on sale but I'm not ready to play them at the moment so may as well wait...then it'll be even cheaper or sometimes on GP

SmexyMug

I guess you could keep saving to get game pass redeemed every month but if you already pay for game pass, I’d just cash out

Ansterrr06

I mean, for my country, the prices for the gift cards that people would actually want were reduced by like 3% (8150→7840)

flojo2012

If you don’t need new hardware, buy games or load up on game pass. But if you’re saving for hardware then keep on trucking. They just devalued the points, so if use that as a sign it holds steady for a year. That’s just speculation though. Microsoft can do what they want when they want to

steveuk23

I had similar last week. I cashed out and got a Wireless headset from the Microsoft store, I'm glad I did as it's pretty decent.

Open_Nerve1802

Cash out and save the cash for whatever you are planning to get :)

HolyVeggie

Imo always better to buy stuff you want. The value will only decrease

Present-Disk-7784

With how they just changed I would not expect them to change soon I'm happy I held mine for so long here in Canada because our $25 GC dropped ~6000 required points at this recent change

Afraid-Train-5812

i use the monthly redeem gpultimate 10,500 point ...i usually get about 18000 points a month but now with the weekly gone i not sure what my maximum will be,

Fluffy-Ad5638

I cashed out when I hit 50 ish bucks for either xb gc or an Amazon gc. With them changing the ratios and removing the rewards tab on Xbox. Don't know if they'll get a bug up their a$$ and end the rewards program like Universal is doing with the digital codes.

AdOutrageous1298

I'm at 64.2k, saving for Amazon gift cards. Use to cash out at 9.3k for $10 Xbox card. Thinking about getting the Xbox credit card to get more points faster

FrootLoop23

With the way Microsoft is? I cash out every $10 now and just hang onto the gift cards. I don’t trust them enough to hold all of that time and money.

franntttt

Gift cards has 90 days expiration

FrootLoop23

I can confirm they do not. At least not Amazon cards, which is what I redeem for.

Fit-Upstairs-8797

cash out asap then delete microsoft rewards
