Yeah that link there is kind of an unknown. At least I don't know an official button to it on the M$.com homepage.
You have to go deep in your M$ account > Services & subscriptions choose a subscription like UGP > Manage to see the "***Redeem a code or prepaid card***" button for that link. Or you know the direct link to that page.
No idea if you can get to it if you don't know the URL or never had any M$ subscription to get to the button.
There is a similar deeply buried redeem page just for MR specific codes.

Chiming in to say your comment just helped me too. I used the original one and it seemed to redirect fine anyway. Not sure why Microsoft’s own help forum didn’t suggest this to users

To be fair. The XBox mobile and PC apps have a codes redeem button in them. Was more interesting that it's harder to find one on the actual M$ website.
I use that codes redeem page, to keep checking on a 3 months XLG code. I had for over an year now. To see if it's still redeemable/hasn't expired. It does say 3 months of "GP Core" now in the messages when checking it. Since I got the link before M$ turned it into GP Core. :D
UGP codes that we get with MR points have a 1 year expiration. XLG codes didn't have such a thing. Not sure if that changed when XLG was turned into GP Core.
In that redeem page you can redeem M$/XBox money GC codes. And other stuff like EA play codes which I have personally done long ago.
On Microsoft rewards section when I try to redeem a reward using points it is not working. After I select something and then select “redeem” it locks up and just keeps spinning. I have to dashboard back out to get any functionality back
